Don't buy MediaTek Version of Xiaomi Redmi Pro - Xiaomi Redmi Pro Guides, News, & Discussion

For anybody who (maybe) will buy the Redmi Pro... Xiaomi also sell phones in India, but they can not sell MediaTek devices, so the need a Snapdragon version, like on the Redmi Note 3.
I just post this to warn you, if you never had a Xiaomi device before. Just wait a lil bit and you will get a better version for the same price.

Whats bad with mediatek? I had meizu mx5 and it worked great.

What's your source on this ? That they can't sell MTK Devices here in India ?

xiaomi has some patent issue with Ericsson and they can only sell qualcomm devices in india as per Delhi high court orders. Xiaomi already has Mi max at the same price bracket. i don't think they will bring redmi pro to India.

If its the Indian variant it lost all appeal -_-"
BTW, yeah don't buy MTK variant or you will be stuck on the shipped android version forever, no custom roms, nada.

I don't even think Xiaomi is gonna release it with Qualcomm. You know, Deca-Core is the thing they're marketing for Redmi Pro. But there's no Qualcomm SoC having 10 cores. The whole idea behind a "Pro" Redmi is 10-cores and OLED. As you know, they can't release MtK device in India. So, there's will not be any Redmi Pro without MTK. Thus, don't wait for a Qualcomm variant. You'll wait forever.

The GPU is not only for games but the Snapdragon version will be much better. About 2 months you will get a better Redmi Pro for almost the same price, like with the Redmi Note 3.

Read my comment posted above. There'll not be any Qualcomm variant of Redmi Pro.

Thats what you think but thats not important, because Xiaomi will sell phones. No India means no good for xjaomi, so the have to rls a snapdragon version.

India is very important for xiaomi so they surely shall release it with sd 652 (maybe).

Dear Klanac,
I am planning to replace Mi 5 Pro with Redmi Pro, but may you advise us what's the problem with MediaTek devices as this device will have X25T version which is better than Snapdragon 820 version.
Thanks.

The problem is the GPU. Also when you won't play games. Maybe on paper is the X25 better but when you use a Note 3 Pro, it feels even better than any X25 device.
Just wait a lil bit and after Note 2 release you will se another version of the Redmi Pro.

I dont understand why you hate Mediatek so much. I had MX5 and it was nearly as fast as RN3 Pro. And there was Helio X10 and I'm talking about daily usage.

There's no guarantee that Xiaomi will release a Snapdragon variant just because it did it with the RN3. It may release only the RP Mini to India; why else would they release the Mini with a Snapdragon processor? It costs Xiaomi more.
Also, I previously owned both variants of the RN3, and the MediaTek version's camera was superior to the Snapdragon's camera.
I've already ordered the MediaTek variant and plan to run the developer ROM until TWRP and xiaomi.eu support appear.

I don't see why not, we have the Snapdragon 808, which is the minimum requirement for windows 10 mobile, and we have 3GB ram.
So it should work.
We'll have to wait and see.
This is my spare play phone, will be great to try win 10 on a phone. Brings back memories of my HTC HD2 days.

To me it is actually weird it debuted on the Mi4 and not the Mi4C in the firdt place. The Mi4 is more than a year old and the Mi4c has more power and have just been released.
That said, I hope we'll see official Win10 from Xiaomi, as developer support for the Mi4c is weak and I doubt we'll see a port, even if it is a relatively easy one. (The NT kernel, relative similar hardware also from Xiaomi, and a Qualcomm SOC with source)

Windows 10 for Mi 4 (LTE version only)
I don't own a Mi 4, but I do very much wish to run Windows 10 on android..
Does anyone know of a way to flash a rom meant for one phone to another phone model with similar hardware? (edit: Upon further research, it appears the core components of my phone, the LG G4, are identical to that of the Mi 4. The differences in the G4 are only a larger screen, higher resolution, and higher MP cameras. The CPU, RAM, GPU, and chipset, are identical to the Mi 4, so I am tempted to simply flash this rom to the G4 directly. Slap my hand quick if this is a bad idea.)

The processor on the Mi4 is snapdragon 801. The one on G4 and Mi-4c is snapdragon 808. So yeah, it's a really bad idea you will surely brick your device... ?

Kirin 970 SoC Announced

Kirin 970 SoC Announced
Huawei just shared details about the new Kirin 970 chipset. As you know, the Honor 9 is equipped with the Kirin 960 and the performance on this phone is fantastic. So whats new with this new chip?
Internal tests show this performance capability allows the Kirin 970 to process 2005 images per minute, which is up from 97 images per minute without the NPU. The new chipset from Huawei is similar to the previous Kirin 960 but sporting higher frequencies, being an eight-core SoC with four being Cortex-A73 cores clocked at 2.40 GHz and the other four being Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.80 GHz. The GPU Huawei has chosen to go with is the newer ARM Mali-G72MP12, but the company has yet to announce its clock speed.
They did, however, confirm it will have a dual ISP, but again, didn’t go into detail about its performance. It will be equipped with the Kirin 970 Integrated LTE modem (a Category 18 modem) with download capabilities of 1.2Gbps. The last bit of information that was announced at IFA this year was that it would be built on a 10nm process from TSMC. The company normally has big press events for their new chips, and since that wasn’t the case at IFA, it is likely why they didn’t reveal any more details about it.

Fortnite On Redmi Note 7 pro!!!..??

As we know Snapdragon 675 has 2x Higher performance kryo 460 cores which are featured in Snapdragon 855,which are very powerful.
Fortnite can be easily playable with that specifications atleast by theory.
Is there any port that helps Fortnite to run on Redmi Note 7 Pro

Yup I know but for some reason it's not functioning good in my rn7pro.
Everytime I start a match it starts the match and instantly it send me to the lobby ? which is very unfortunate. So I will try to reinstall it maybe some issues with the file.
Yep,it works perfectly on my Redmi Note 7 Pro, the 3D resolution is set at 75% and there is no sort of lagging or stuttering...
I'm currently running MIUI 10.8.2.0 ( Stable)(Global)
and I think the performance would improve with the MIUI 10.2.10 update...which is being rolled out slowly.

xiaomi can choose what to incloude in the cpu they buy, like snapdragon 860 support 5g but xiaomi didn't choose to include it in our phone. Wifi 6 is same.
Does this mean, the hardware of 5G is present but software blocked or the hardware CPU of Poco X3 Pro differs from other phones with the same CPU?

It means one device with snaodragon 860 may have it, other not and it is hardware related. What is on qualcomm specifications means what it may have. But what xiaomi want to have may be different. They didnt choose to put wifi 6 and 5g midem, qualcomm produced for them processor with out it. And bo software changes can help
