It's well known that the good old ".nomedia" file trick, that allowed a folder NOT to be scanned by Media Scanner, doesn't work anymore since Android 4.0.
There are many bug reports, such as this one : id=24162 on google code (i can't post link here because new on the forum).
It's really a big problem for many people, such as me : I have more than 50GB of data (mp3, etc.) on a SD card, and so the media scanner constantly tries to scan everything, leading to overheat, overusage of CPU, and fast battery drain
I've looked everywhere and haven't found a solution.
Of course disabling the app "Media storage" solves the problem, but then each time you take a photo, you don't see it anymore in the gallery + many other built-in apps don't work anymore... A shame...
QUESTION : is there a Custom ROM that solves this problem ? Cyanogenmod for example?
I'm running a Galaxy Core Plus (SM-G350) with Android 4.2.2 rooted.
The solution could be to use this patch :
https://android-review.googlesource.com/#/c/31110/2/media/java/android/media/MediaScanner.java
But how to replace my rooted Android 4.2.2 (Samsung phone) by a recompiled version with this patch applied ?

Hello,
Awesome XDA developers. I am seriously in need for some helping hands for my Tablet PC. I have got a China Octa Core 7 inch tablet pc with WUXGA display, MT6592 Octa Core processor, 2GB RAM, 16 GB ROM, Android 4.2.2 OS , 13.3 MP REAR CAMERA, 5.3 MP front camera etc.
So far the tablet is so good with Android 4.2.2 OS. The china company recently gave me an updated ROM for the tablet PC. The update includes Android 4.4.2 OS. I installed the firmware with SP Flash tool 5.5. After installing the OS, I was very happy to enjoy KiTkaT. Every thing were perfect.
Except one strange problem I am facing with Android 4.4.2 KiTkaT upgrade. I can take photos in 13.3 MP high resolution with the rear camera. But when I record videos with "Fine" recording mode or any other modes (low, medium high or fine), the video gets recorded in 640x480 low resolution only. I tried every camera settings did not work. I also check the "build.prop" settings & "camerasize.xml" settings. But nothing worked. For both the front (5.3 MP) and rear camera (13.3 MP) records videos in 640x480 low resolution where as the same camera take photos in 5.5 MP (Front Cam) & 13.3 MP (Rear Cam) resolutions.
But for Android 4.2.2 OS, both the cameras could record videos with 1920x1088 resolution when you choose "Fine" as the video recording mode. I am a beginner level developer. I can not get anything to fix the problems. I reported this to the tab company, they said the firmware company can not fix the problems now. And asked me to use the Android 4.2.2 OS. I have also googled for possible helps with this firmware problems. I found that modifying libcameraservices.so & media_profiles.xml may fix the problems. I found the file "libcameraservices.so" and copied to my PC, opened it with a HEX Editor but am not that expert to correct it. Please help me.
Can the XDA forum experts help me with this miserable problems. :crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:
Please help. :crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:
Thanks & Regards
Those are libraries that are included in the firmware. Those can't be edited with a Hex editor. Not effectively anyway. What I'd suggest instead is to see if you can install Google Camera App.
But if that too does not work, then for you, the only other thing might be going back to 4.2 short of rebuilding the firmware with right libraries.
Tried Google Camera But Failed

Thanks for your quickest reply to ma text.
I installed google camera. After getting it installed from the play store. It closes with an error when I try to access the camera settings. I also tried to do a trick by copying the "libcameraservices.so" from the Android 4.2.2 firmware & then copying it over the "libcameraservices.so" Android 4.4.2 firmware. Then I rebooted the phone, but it got stuck in the boot logo never rebooted.
Is there any possibility to correct the parameters of libcameraservices.so (Android 4.4.2 firmware) to fix the error..?? I am not that expert in building a custom ROM yet. Can you please help me out..??
Here is the libcamerservices.so for bot Android 4.4.2 & 4.2.2
Hi,
I am upload the "libcameraservices.so" file that I copied from the both the fimware system files. Is there any expert who can check the difference between these two..?? And correct the parameters so that it is possible to record video in 1920x1088 resolution for Android 4.4.2 OS as well.
Thanks & Regards
Thanks for sharing. But I think you want to post in Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting in order for one of the Expert developers to help you.

Hello Perseus,
I have posted there. But I did not get any reply for post yet. Am still waiting and having a belief that, someone can really help me with this from XDA.
I apologize, please see the mission of Assist as mentioned by 2 Stickies on this forum.
The mission of XDA Assist is to provide basic help to those who have tried searching but can't find what they are looking for and need assistance. This is not a "helpdesk" providing technical assistance but more to point you in the correct direction with your problem. Perhaps you can't find posts on how to root your phone, install custom recovery or maybe you have questions about how to navigate and use features on the site.

Android Home Phone, Binatone iDECT iHOME3
Hello everyone,
I need pointed to the right forum.
I recently purchased the above phone, landphone died, this came second hand from eBay. It works perfectly, but I mainly wanted it because its Android, and I can use my Google contacts and not have to input them one by one. And because its Android!
The specs are on a photo include below. It is rooted with SU app installed and working.
I downloaded zipped Gapps for 2.3.5, extracted to folder, then put the folder on the ExtSD, then to IntSD.
My problem is this, it shipped with the SlideMe market, I'm trying, and failing to get Google Play sideloaded on it. There is no option to add a Google account of course, if I try to direct install, it gives the message "you need to add a google account", if I click yes, the app fc's. If I push the app to system/app, the same occurs.
I'm not the most technical Android guy, but I've been flashing etc, for a few years now, on various makes and models, but this has me stumped. I've had to flash Gapps before for ROM's, I've sideloaded apps too, but am I missing something here. What gives the extra option to add a Google account? I've done this before on a few tablets etc, never had a problem.
Where is it best to post/get some help? (and hopefully not be laughed at to hard!)
Someone posted a thread over this phone (years ago), 3 answers, nothing helpful.
Thanks in advance,
Skivit

Hi! So I'm using a Samsung galaxy a3 running android 5.0.2 non rooted. I was trying to install the apps MIUI music anf Amazon underground. Whenever I tried to install Amazon underground, I got the message "app not installed" with only the option *done" after about 5 seconds, and the same with MIUI music. So I uninstalled a few apps that I thought may be using the problem, and I was able to install Amazon, and reinstall them after. But when it came to MIUI music, it still wouldn't work. I've heard of a problem on lollipop not allowing 2 apps with the same permissions to exist on your device, so could this be it? I do have other music apps such as Spotify, deezer(both patched versions) and TinyTunes. I would greatly appreciate any help here.

As already pointed out in response to your previous posts in the XDA Assist area, the best approach is for you to ask your question with all relevant details in the Samsung Galaxy Alpha Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting forum at http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-alpha/help. That's a good place to start where members familiar with your device might be able to advise you. XDA Assist cannot provide direct technical support, and other members cannot reply to your post on here, sorry. Please be patient and give the experts in the Q&A thread plenty of time to respond.
Good luck!
I got this free tablet along with a course of Spanish.
It's a 9" android device. According the documentation that came with it, it has an Alwinner A33 Quadcore, 512MB ram, 4GB storage & is operated with Android 4.4.
It has no brand, but it comes from a Belgian company named GP-electronic.
As soon as I got it, I started installing my most favourite apps & one of those (my mobile banking app) gave me this warning I never had before:
Code:
Rooted Device Detected. We advice you to use a non-rooted device.
And now I wanted to know how I can unroot it & reclaim it for my own, because I notice some other things have been modified / disabled by the supplier....
How do I gather the necessary info, where to look & stuff like that is something new for me.
Cheers
Zotteken

Hello Guys,
I have a Samsung Galaxy On7 (Model i.D.: SM-G600FZDDINS/SM-G600FZKDINS) that has an internal storage of only 8 gigabytes out of which around 3.4 gigabytes is available, but out of this available storage only around 1.2 to 1.5 gigabyte storage is only available for apps and other scenarios. Now the issue comes in when whatsapp starts to fill it up crazily with all the media contents. Yeah, I keep deleting those and periodically try cleaning storage but it is just not working for me as the device's available storage just fill up with data in 2 to 3 days. I have popped in a memory card already but the issue is as samsung has removed the adoptable/internal storage option from their o.s. on Marshmallow I am not able to use the memory card for internal storage.
Now, after some research online on forums and web I have came across posts that help you get it done for using the internal storage option for SD Card but the issue is all of these posts are just concentrating on the latest devices such as S7, S6 and the usual galaxy premium lineup. Please assist me for the same.
I would have liked to post the links but as I am a new user I am prevented from the same.
Now if any of you can help me for the same without rooting the device then please do (as my device is still under warranty) or else a root will also work no issues with that too.
Thanks in advance
