Hours on QPST, QXDM, DFS & EFS - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note5

Basically i spent all day tinkering with those programs and pretty sure i unlocked all bands and signals available. Now i have these choices under gsm/umts band selection and not sure what to choose if any. Are there any that are superior to the others?

I followed these steps... http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/general/how-to-add-rf-lte-frequency-bands-to-t2886059 which was linked in the idoneapps f&q on unlocking lte bands. However I was having a hard time with qpst so i used dfa cdmatool.com and efs pro with qxdm, making nv files writeable in qxdm and enabling them in dfs studio. I used efs pro to put my phone into diagnostic mode. Im still trying to figure out what exactly it does, i do know it does something tho because when i change my band priority to say 12, 2, 4 for top 3 and band class 15 i get increased speed but cant make calls so i got to switch top 3 to 26,41,25 and usa band class. These are references i go off of

[GUIDE] Changing the PRL on the Galaxy S III

For anyone interested in changing their PRL, the method is as simple as ever.
This is on a Sprint phone but should work with any CDMA carrier.
*I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU BRICK YOUR DEVICE*
0. Make sure you're on a Touchwiz ROM. This can be stock or modified, as long as it's Touchwiz.
1. Be rooted!
2. Find your MSL using this handy guide over here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1745888
3. Make sure you have downloaded the phone's drivers onto your computer.
4. Open your phone's dialer and type *#7284#"
5.PhoneUtil should now be open. Click on "Qualcomm USB Settings" and select "DM + Modem + ADB." Remember to change this back after you change your PRL.
6. Plug your phone into your computer; let your phone recognize the phone.
7. Download your preferred PRL from the internet. I usually use 11115, but you can use whichever one you find best.
(Verizon users, obviously choose the appropriate PRL for your carrier. I used a Sprint one.)
8. Open "Device Manager" on your computer; click on "Ports" and see which COM port your phone is connected to on your PC.
9. Use the program "CDMA Workshop" to connect to your phone by selecting the correct COM port, clicking "Connect," and then clicking "Read."
10. Go to the "Security" tab and put in your MSL into the box under "SPC." Click the "SPC" button and click "Send." It should say that the phone is unlocked.
11. Under PRL, click "Write" and select the PRL you want to switch to.
12. It should say that it successfully wrote; exit the program and let it reboot the phone when it asks.
13. Enjoy your new PRL!
I have been told by several people that a simpler method works using only your phone ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1660740), but I have not had a chance to try it myself.

I guess PRLs are probably more of a Sprint issue (just because we generally roam much more) but Verizon users may choose to use older PRLs that they may have found worked better for them, or perhaps use a modified Alltel/Sprint mixed PRL to improve general coverage when going out of Verizon's coverage zone.
I'm not completely familiar with Verizon's PRLs as of yet, but will look into them. I would now but I'm on vacation .
I do have one PRL on my computer that will prefer to roam to Sprint if there is no Verizon reception available (which, believe it or not, actually happens sometimes). When I get back from vacation I will attach the file to the OP.

You can do this with QPST, however why would anyone on Verizon want to change their PRL? The only other networks you can roam onto are slower and drop calls frequently.
If you insist, I'll PM you how to do it with QPST.
OP:
Why is this in the development section? It's a guide. Plus you already have it posted in General and in the Sprint Development. Since it works on multiple devices, consider just having one OP in the General section. It makes it easier for us and for you to check up on.

This is posted in development because in the Sprint development forum guides and how-tos are allowed. I have already requested that the mods delete the one on general, especially since this only works on CDMA.
I'm on vacation out West and actually get six bars using Sprint as opposed to the friend I'm traveling with, who gets none on his Verizon iPhone. I guess it really depends where you are in the country.

I'm not sure if my PM sent or not. It's being very "buggy" I'll just post it here:
How to Update PRL Manually:
You must have your respected device's drivers installed prior to starting.
1. Download and Install QPST
2. Open QPST Configuration in the "QPST" folder under Programs
3. Disable debugging on your device
4. Open your phone's dialer and type *#7284#"
5. Switch to "CP" or "Modem"
6. Plug in your device to the computer
7. Click on the “Ports” tab and “Add a new port”
8. Select the “COMXX – USB\QC Diagnostic” and click ok. If you don’t see a port, uncheck the box for "Show Serial and USB/QC Diagnostic ports only" and add all of the USB/Unknown ports. One of them should show an active phone.
9. Click “Start Clients” on the top of the program and open Service Programming
10. Select your device
11. Click "Read from Phone" and enter "000000" (or your MSL if 0000000 doesn't work)
12. Click the "Roam" tab
13. Click "Browse" and select the PRL you wish to use
14. Click "Write to Phone"
Phone should reboot with the PRL you specified

I couldn't get QPST to recognize the phone no matter what I did, so I used CDMA Workshop. You should be able to find a free (legal) “demo" version of it online.
And he updated his PRL before we left Las Vegas to see the national parks, he still had no service while I had about 5 or 6 bars.
Although most of the places I'm going to out here have no service for all carriers from what I've seen lol.

Should work with QPST. I've never had an issue with the program itself not recognizing anything.
What are you running Linux or Windows?
I'd just install Kies and to be safe also install the drivers online. Then read step 8. A LOT of people were freaking out over nothing.
I'm not sure this is quite relevant in either carrier's LTE space, as PRL updates are now handled automatically when the LTE radio activates (it's how GSM does things, and LTE is a GSM derivative).
For example, on Verizon LTE phones, *228 does nothing at best and smokes your SIM at worst. In most cases, getting a PRL update is nothing more than just rebooting your phone.

The PRL I'm referring to only affects CDMA coverage. This method only refers to a method changing the CDMA roaming, as there is no LTE roaming anyway (and no need for PRLs).
I mean I could be wrong about this since this is Verizon and I'm referring to things I know from Sprint LTE phones, but I know (almost for sure) CDMA roaming is still relevant because voice and texts require CDMA coverage.

Yes and the PRL affects CDMA coverage. Unless you never reboot your phone, flashing PRLs would be sort of useless, unless your in the one spot in the whole country Verizon doesn't cover.

But the newest PRLs are not always the best PRLs. I know on Sprint that sometimes people will report better coverage using an older PRL, so flashing an older/modified PRL could be beneficial.

His SIM card should still at least support 3G. We're not sure whether or not OP lives in USA or whatnot.
He does have the Chinese version which is incapable of getting LTE speeds on U.S. carriers.

Ah so its just a carrier problem not providing 3g/4g in your house. See if you can get a signal booster or something of that sort?
I was hoping with the 30O update there would be a baseband update but there wasn't.

Haven't seen LTE on Note 5

I initially thought there was a change in the coding for the 4G icon. But I've been checking since I got my Note 5 and I am not getting LTE. I upgraded from a GS6 edge that had LTE everywhere, home, work, and surrounding areas. But I have yet to see the LTE signal on my Note 5. Anyone else having this issue? Or have any idea as to how to fix this?

Apn settings aren't really an issue. Look them up online.
What I was referring to was the variants that have 3g or 4g only. No LTE or designed with a certain region in mind so certain bands aren't even there.
For the record, I don't truly believe the ram differences matter but it's Samsung. You never know.

It would be something like this but not all apns are listed online my apn for boost mobile is not listed anywhere online and i cant get the apn settings to show me what the info is so i would need a apn fix to flash right after flashing a sprint rom... if youre trying to get 4g in a area with no 4g the only way to do that would be to have a unlocked phone and switch to the carrier who has 4g lte... if theres no 4g lte towers then it will be impossible to actually get a 4g signal...

You're partially right in that if there are no LTE towers then you won't get LTE.
If there is a tower, then all carriers are able to use it according to the FCC.
I'm talking about the modem and the firmware on the device itself. Some have LTE without certain bands enabled. Some have 4g (3.5g+ otherwise known as fauxgee) and there are some with only 3g.
If you start messing with flashing modems, you're risking a brick situation.
Original question here had to do with flashing roms designed for other j7 variants was okay for j700t(1).
I say no because of the above reasons I gave.
I say wait. Roms are coming for the T and T1.

No data during calls?

Hi Guys,
I'm using the US Mate 9 with AT&T, a GSM provider. I noticed when I'm on a call either there is no data (Internet) available or very patchy with the screen on...
Wanted to ask you guys if this is normal and expected behavior?

It's because At&t doesn't allow VoLTE on the Mate 9 so when you make a call you get dropped to 4g or 3g speeds. T-Mobile allows VoLTE so data doesn't change due to a call. I run both sims in mine and it's why I keep my personal line on T-Mobile and use it's data. My At&t line is strictly for work calls.

Both At&t and T-Mobile show 4gLTE icons but At&t's drops to 4g only while in a call, T-Mobiles stays 4gLTE which verifies VoLTE only works on T-Mobile.
I believe you're correct and the Chinese variant doesnt show LTE.

Guys, thanks for all your helpful responses! Just to close the loop on the issue of *NO DATA* during calls was fixed with the check box, checked in the attachment.
Although, as shared here, it's possible that it's H+ or 3G only service, not true LTE.
Thanks!
Alternative Solution
I had the same problem, I found out that this box was already checked on my phone, What fixed it for me was checking Mobile Network -> Access Point Names> selecting "ATT Phone"
I had initially selected "ATT Nextgenphone."
