So I've seen that it's possible to flash the US firmware between the carrier firmware and US international firmware (U). I'm wondering how that is possible since there were problems with the S6 international variants flashing US carrier firmware onto the phones. Does the U use the Snapdragon processor and that's what allows it to be flashed?
The reason I ask is because I know someone with the S6 international (G920I) on T-mobile and wishes to enable WiFi Calling but they don't have that option. I know that this isn't the S6 forum but I noticed people flashing U firmware onto their carrier branded phones and vise versa and figured that those who figured it out would have some understanding as to how it works. I just want to expand my knowledge of why he can't seem to find a solution even though there seems to be some compatibility there.
Thanks for the replies.

Well, it could be possible.. But since this is the forum for the international version of the s7, I think you might have better luck asking that same at the US s7 forums.

Nope, this is only for the international version. For the US version there are four different forums, for all of the carriers. Here's a link to the T-mobile forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-galaxy-s7
Hi,
I have a S8+ with the model SM-G955FD and was wondering if I am able to download the firmware for the model SM-G955F?
The phone was purchased outside of Australia and doesn't use the Australian (Telstra) firmware that I would like it to. I just figured they are the same phone just different model numbers so there shouldn't be any issues right? I might just lose a couple features or something but the phone should work correctly?
Thanks in advance.
Yea, the G955FD is the dual SIM Exynos variant, right?
I'm sure the dual SIM uses the same firmware as the single SIM, so you should have no worries flashing Aussie firmware.
But I would suggest you flash the XSA (Aussie unbranded) firmware, not Telstra firmware. You'll lose nothing, but you'll get faster updates.

I'm using Metro PCS service on a Singapore XSP and experiencing some terrible 4G service. Is there anything I can do about this, looked perhaps flash smother CSC onto my 955FD?

The phone will work pretty much fine provided
1 - Exact Same hardware . you can use snapdaragon ROMs on Snapdragon Devices and vice versa for Exynos .
2 - Same network Bands supported . The ROM contains the programs on how to operate in different frequencey bands .
If i helped you , hit the thanks button !

Here's the XSA (Australia) firmware:
http://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?record=0C53FCC1D0CA11E7A5F9FA163EE8F90B
Flash it. Doesn't matter if your device is G955F or FD, the ROMs are exactly the same.
Does the method works with G955J SCV35 model? I'm running NTDocomo firmware on KDDI model to unlock network (single SIM) . I wan't to flash unlocked U firmware but getting scared that the phone will be bricked.
Hey Guys!
So I have just gotten an S7 (930S) and apparently, there is a mismatch between the bands present in the phone and the one offered by my network. I would like to know if I flash 930F modem on my phone would that be ok or not? I just want to flash the modem as well as the CSC of the 930F model. I hope someone can take the timeout to reply to my query.
Thanks

Yes you can, hardware is the same. However when you talk about network bands I assume your talking about the difference between networks using GSM and networks using CDMA? In which case you need to flash firmware which uses CDMA radios.

Well, when I am talking about Bands I am talking about the frequencies in which they operate. For example, my network offers the UMTS 900 frequency, but that frequency is missing from my current modem.
Therefore, I am assuming that if I flash the 930F model's modem, which does supoort the UMTS 900 frequency, I will be able to operate on the UMTS 900 frequency. Can you confirm me on that?
Or will I have to flash the 930F firmware on my phone to operate on the UMTS 900 frequency?
Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
Yes 930F will work and install the radios you require.
The problem I am facing right now is that although the modem (Shannon335) on my phone (G930S - Korean) is the same as that on the international model (930F). But my phone (G930S) does not support one of the bands that my network supports which is UMTS 900 and that band is supported on the international version , although hardware wise (both are Shannon335) they are both the same.
So, I was thinking if i change my modem, currently its a South Korean modem and flash the international version modem could it work and make the band work for me?

Yes it should work
Thank You very much.
I would also like to know how should I choose and which modem to flash on my phone. Which things should I match and what to avoid during the flashing process. I have currently U1 security level modem, so when I flash another modem should it be U1 level as well?

To avoid problems you must match the modem to the version of firmware you are using, so yes U1 to U1. Flash the modem separately via Odin
Hi,
I was wondering if its possible to flash US unlocked firmware onto the unlocked dual sim Taiwanese variant of the Note 20 Ultra 5G (SM-N9860).
There are certain features like Samsung pay that is somewhat limited for me because its still shows the region as Taiwan.
Of course I don't want to brick my phone but wanted to see my options in terms of changing the region to a US version.
Also, just to confirm, there is no way for this 5G variant to get 5G with US carriers, correct?
Thanks

SAme question here.. can anyone help please? also can anyone help in this issue:
I am living in UK, have note 20 ultra 986U1. all 5g Bands are not active, on android 11 (UI3.1) there was a way to access to service menu and enable all 5bands. and I was using the 5G here. now, I updated, and that can not reach seavice menu to enable right 5G band. anyone has any idea what should I do? even I can not flash with UK rom, as UK rom is for Exynos, but mine is snapdragon. any other idea maybe? or other rom that works with my phone and also enabled 5G bands?
do you think if I just change the CSC , my problem will solve? if yes, which CSC I must flash and how?
I have got a Samsung Flip3 US unlocked version. Have been using it outside US with and Indian SIM card from last few months without any hiccups. With Samsung Pay working as well.
Now, with the release of 5G services here in India, I'm not sure the bands that Indian operators use are unlocked or not in this. Jio (Indian service provider) says that you're using a non-5G device.
So, I was wondering if I flash an INU firmware to my device. Will it unlock the bands and also let me get OTAs from Samsung? Maybe if someone here did this already?
(According to Jio, this phone is compatible with their 5G network. Also, checked on gsmarena, the international version has the bands that JIO supports.) Since the chipset in international and US is same, I suppose the bands are already there in the device.
Thanks in advance for your help and comments.
Hi Jatin, I don't think flashing your US flip 3 with IND firmware, will fix your problem. The IND firmware is for the F711B model, you are on the F711U1 model. I would not try that. A lot of the F7711B firmware are multi-CSC, but not for the U1 model.
Thanks for the reply, @slysurfer.
I was thinking that since both F711B and F711U1 share the same chipset (Snapdragon 888), the F711B firmware drivers will work on F711U1.
I read some other posts in here (on XDA itself) in which someone with an EUX variant flashed INU firmware to it. Not sure the EUX variant is multi-CSC or not.

Yes, the EUX variant is multi-CSC (to a degree) I can flash any firmware from Europe to South East Asia, but as mentioned we can't flash any firmware from US/Canada.
Big >IF< you can OEM unlock the bootloader you can install twrp and disable the vbmeta and flash a U firmware over a U1 phone and visa versa. But even if you can do all of that it probably still won't work. Personally I'd take it to my local mobile phone stall and see if they can do it.
Thankyou @beanbean50 for your answers.
Sorry for the noob question, . Earlier when Samsung used to release 2 different hardware versions of the same phone like one with Exynos and other with Snapdragon, flashing the other region ROM was not possible.
So, I was just wondering, since both the regions (US & South East Asia) has the exactly same hardware, the networks bands in both of these must only be software locked. Thus, since the US version already has the hardware, can't simply flashing a different region ROM should work.
Again, if there are some other locks that prevent this, it's not possible to flash. Just like if on paper both devices are same, the only difference they have is, they are released in different region.
Also, I checked, both are also manufactured in the Vietnam.

There is not OEM unlocking in under developer options. I have through other posts and things on how to unlock. I suppose it can't be unlocked in a straightforward like F711B can be.
I suppose this is the hard-stop that cleared my doubts.
Thanks one again, @beanbean50 for your time and answers. Really appreciated!!
P.S.: If you or someone you know have some experience unlocking a US snapdragon Samsung device bootloader, please do share. I might have to consider unlocking bootloader in the future.
