[Completed] Found Prestige 7G, time to experiment. - XDA Assist

Greetings:
I found an old Visual Land Prestige 7g in my sisters house. I was thinking of converting it into a remote control BUT now I would like to know if it would be possible to load it with a android 5 or 6 ROM and use it for games and movie viewing for my grandson. Yes pokemon go for him grrrr. Anyway, i have searched some days but there is no definite successful way on these forums to do this. I have tried several tools to root it to no avail (vroot, iroot, oneclickroot, seapod). I also read somewhere it is already rooted but the apps say otherwise. I would like to be pointed to the right direction, or if anyone has done it to explain, what tools i can use to do a recovery or a straight ROM flash to simply wipe the whole factory crap and obsolete system and load either a stock android version or a custom ROM version so the tablet is not so slow and laggy and becomes usable once again. Maybe a ROM that works for the same kernel and build number.
This is what happens when one finds a piece of hardware and a freak like me wants to get the best out of it, its a compulsion. By teh way, i am not the most expert person but i can handle my own, just don't go into a very complex or advanced discussion on tablet or phone things to do. Thanks for any help.
model number: prestige 7G
Android version : 4.1.1
Kernel Version: 3.0.8+
Build Number: JRO03C.20130731.V006

[Completed] TPT NVflash need direction

Good morning All!
This is my first post here, hopefully I post in the right place. I have an old TPT, perfect device for my kids, all it need to do is run Zoodles. Was running fine with CM9, then one day, a couple of months back, it got stock on the Lenovo boot splash. Was getting ready to move so it made it in a box.
Trying to fix it now. Nut looks like I am in need of some advice and direction.
This is what I have done so far.
Boot into recovery kernel and tried to restore from my backup I had done before putting CM9 on it. Tried factory reset, None of which works.
The closest I got is with the restore of my backup, then when It rebooted, Ut got past the first Lenovo boot splash, we see Nvidia splash, then Animated Lenovo splash start, then device turns off and then back on.
Within the recovery kernel when I look at the logs, there is complaints about /data being in read-only mode during restore. I cannot unmount or format /data.
I think at this stage my best chance is to restore to stock with NVFlash. I am a little uncomfortable doing this without some advice first.
I am trying to find the model details of the device, but needless to say that being my kids tablet, all stickers are gone. I do have the device open but I am unable to track a; model number inside.
Could anyone assist? I am a professional IT, but My android knowledge is limited.
Thank you.
Hi!
Unfortunately without knowing the exact model, you have no idea what is safe to flash.
Because you can't get into into the system...no help there. Most devices have model numbers inside by the battery.
I'd Google any numbers you do find inside, until one leads you to your device. But you need to be 1000% certain before flashing firmware....if you flash the wrong firmware, chances are the device will hard brick and that will be the end of it.
Not sure what we can do to help really. You can ask in the general Q&A section, but be careful what advice you take. No one can guess what device you have, and if anyone suggests firmware based on a guess....don't flash it. Maybe someone can help you determine without a doubt what model it is tho...

Yes, its a Lenovo ThinkPad tablet 1 (TPT)
If its Lenovo think pad, then you need to ask here....and specifically state the model number you found. You probably need to return it to stock, so you need to find out how to do that, and where to find the firmware for your exact model. Don't use anything not specifically for your model. The guys in the Lenovo section know those devices best, hopefully they can help.

[Completed] Gsmart saga s3 root?

Hi all,
Searched everywhere and simply cannot find a solution. Google throws up many fake sites and not much else.
I've purchased a gsmart saga s3, which I'm seriously impressed with, considering my history of a s5 (stolen) both variants of note 2, note 1, mega, s2 and various other devices, all of which I've successfully rooted and done minor development for, so pretty competent though not an expert
I cannot root this device in any conventional method as far as I'm aware. I've tried framaroot, playing around with backups and updates (come to this in a sec) and ADB. I've even gone Into engineer mode and turned root options on and off, as well as engineer mode. This is not dev options, its a function accessed by pressing *#*#something#*#*, can't remember offhand.
The interesting thing is, the phone has a kind of custom recovery already. I can download the firmware directly from gsmarts website and flash it from recovery. This may be a back door?
Anyway, I'm looking for any pointers in the right direction. I wish to remove the bloat mainly, but also try to develop a vanilla ROM for this phone.
I'm happy to try any suggestions at my own risk, have access to a PC, lubuntu, have adb configured but will need step by step, and anything else that may be needed ill try my best.
If there's a solution here I have a feeling a lot of people will love you guys.
Cheers for any and all replies!

Hi,
I can find no discussions on XDA about your device. You would need to ask for help here...

Good luck!
Thanks, don't know how to do that so any chance a mod can do that?
Cheers!

Just start a new thread there. Just like you did here.

[Completed] [Q] Is there a compatibility mode for 5.1 Lolipop?

I found a thread of similar title, but didn't want to hijack it.
I have a Nexus 6 xt1103 running Chroma 3/27 build 5.1 Lollipop. The app in question is SUFBS 3.86. Yes, it is an old one. But IMHO it is better than most if not all the other root file explorer apps out there. It worked OK on stock rooted 5.0.1 on my phone. And it probably works fine on this ROM, but I just cannot get it to look right. I did some searching and there was some talk of using the old Spare Parts app and disable compatibility mode to make it look right. Well Spare Parts is out of date as well, sort of. I don't want to spend $2.49 on another outdated app to just see if it will fix the view for this other app I already spent money on.
Here's a screenshot for what it's worth:
If anyone is familiar with SUFBS, you can see that most of the features are no longer accessible.
TIA.
Bump please.

[Completed] Need to 'fix' nextbook p 7

I have been searching, reading, and attempting everything I could find to fix this tablet for night and days. Some root/busybox detectors/verifiers gave me different results. Before this I knew nothing about this world so i'm a real greenhorn here. All I know so far is my device is rooted because of build no. V2.0.1.JRO03C.user.root.20131219. Afterwards some apps tell me I'm rooted and some told me no. I'm afraid something went terribly wrong with the files. I can't unroot, flash a new recovery, install adb, pretty much nothing works. All the apps I've tried told me an unknown bootloader. I just want to either return the tablet to original factory default or take control of the thing. This is the info I gathered from settings>about :
Model NX007HD8G
Android V. 4.1.1
Kernel 3.0.8
Serial no. YF031412173
And the build number above
At the moment I don't know what other info you guys might need so forgive me if I'm not thorough. Please, help me take control of my device.
Hi,
Thanks for using XDA assist.
Although there are some guides that could help you solve your problem, none of them seem to have working links for you to download and use.
Because of this, I would recommend posting in the Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting forum. Please note that in order to post, you will need to create a XDA account.
Good Luck! - gsstudios

[Completed] Custom ROM installation setup

Hi
I am new to ANdroid devcies as i only have Apple devices up till now, please bear with me. I just bough a Noza Tec Android table VII on kitkat 4.4.4 quadcore with 1GB RAM, this tablet was cheap and does not behave anything like a quadcore or 1GB RAM, it is very slow when using web browser and zooming in on anything is not smooth and does it in sections. I would like to try installing a custom ROM that would speed things up dramatically, as currently it is really poor.
Can anyone give advise on the best ROM for htis device and also if there is an installation guide as this is the first time i will be trying it and i dont want ot brick the tablet.
Any help appriciated. Thanks in advance
