Hi all,
Searched everywhere and simply cannot find a solution. Google throws up many fake sites and not much else.
I've purchased a gsmart saga s3, which I'm seriously impressed with, considering my history of a s5 (stolen) both variants of note 2, note 1, mega, s2 and various other devices, all of which I've successfully rooted and done minor development for, so pretty competent though not an expert
I cannot root this device in any conventional method as far as I'm aware. I've tried framaroot, playing around with backups and updates (come to this in a sec) and ADB. I've even gone Into engineer mode and turned root options on and off, as well as engineer mode. This is not dev options, its a function accessed by pressing *#*#something#*#*, can't remember offhand.
The interesting thing is, the phone has a kind of custom recovery already. I can download the firmware directly from gsmarts website and flash it from recovery. This may be a back door?
Anyway, I'm looking for any pointers in the right direction. I wish to remove the bloat mainly, but also try to develop a vanilla ROM for this phone.
I'm happy to try any suggestions at my own risk, have access to a PC, lubuntu, have adb configured but will need step by step, and anything else that may be needed ill try my best.
If there's a solution here I have a feeling a lot of people will love you guys.
Cheers for any and all replies!

Hi,
I can find no discussions on XDA about your device. You would need to ask for help here...
> Android Development and Hacking > Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Good luck!
Thanks, don't know how to do that so any chance a mod can do that?
Cheers!

Just start a new thread there. Just like you did here.

I am having much difficulty rooting my phone. My phone is a Docomo NEC Medias N-06C running Android 2.3.6.
So far I have tried Z4Root, Universal Androot and Gingerbreak. No luck.
I have no computer skills, so trying to use SupeOneClick or other computer programs have proven impossible for me. I have the drivers for the phone, but no idea how to install them in WIndows.
Can anyone recommend a good tool to use to download onto the phone and root from there?
Wow, a week and not a single reply. Either no one knows, or no one cares. Both makes this forum a huge disappointment. I thought this was the place to go for smart advice. I was wrong.
You have to develope it by your own, doesn't exist yet

No one here has yet created this for: your device, sadly when it comes to rooting it depends on if a developer owns the device your attempting to mod. In this case No there's no one here at Xda. Be sure to use Google thoroughly and search everything available for device you want to root. If there is nothing out there meaning no dev has ever developed anything for your specific device your next option is this " Search for a device that is similar in specs such as cpu/gpu, processor speeds, firmware versions. Now if you find devices that are similar.
"For example my device Sgh-T679 Samsung Galaxy Exhibit ⁴g has a similar device the Sgh-T679M Samsung GalaxyW they are very similar meaning devs used builds from the Sgh-T679M and ported them to the Sgh-T679 For Example: the sgh-T679 never had anything higher than Android 2.3.6 released in it. Using Sgh-T679M builds we've successfully ported over Android 4.0.4-4.1.*"
All the How To Guides are located on the web(actually if search here at Xda everything you'll need can be found here) If there are no mirror devices for the one you are using then I'm sorry if your not a developer then you may be S.O.L. Hope this has helped you and goodluck, I'm sure some where out there on the web there's someone out there who's already worked towards rooting your device. Find what you need look up the How To's you'll need to achieve what your looking for and read up If your computer literate then you may possibly be able to do it on your own. Also remember there are emulators and Android Sdk that you can use on your PC as a developing tool so you can test out the rom on your PC first. It basically I'd a program that runs your Android device in your computer so you call mod, test see what works and what doesn't work start over mod, reapply and have no risk of bricking your device in the mean time. I wish you luck and welcome to Xda.
I promise you I know computers can seems like trying to read a language you've never heard of before but here at Xda the great Developers have created flawless guides on How To's for everything involved with Android Open Source Project.
Edit: I reread your post and see you said your not very computer savy please just use the guides provided and or you will learn or meet someone along the way who will be more than happy to help you achieve what you ate trying to do goodluck friends wish you well

Hello,
I started a new thread to try and gain some more experienced attention. the other two threads within this massive forum don't have any real support in the way of actual, knowledgable developers.
There are apparently a lot of people that have the AU/KDDI version of the Galaxy S III. (SCL21). There is apparently not, however a lot of support for it. If anybody has any resources or advice for rooting/moding I'm sure we'd all be very grateful.
Thanks in advance,
And happy droiding!
Bump! I know a lot of people that has this phone but there really no support on it.
I'm willing to give you something to buy your beer for your hard work.

Have you by any chance tried Bin4ry's Root Restore method? I used this to root my father's Kindle Fire HD several weeks ago, over a remote internet connection no less, and it works a charm. I can't post links yet but do a search for "Root MANY ANDROID" and you'll find it. If you do try it, you'll probably want to run it as an Administrator, I think that's how I had to do it. There have been several posts from others in that thread that have rooted their S3 variant with this. Good luck!
Hi guys,
I just got the AU SCL21 about two weeks ago. I agree, I think it's really strange that even on the Japanese forums, there is very little info on rooting this model. From everything I've found, the Japanese sites also both say it's OKAY to root using the Docomo SC-06D recovery and Superuser zip and that it's NOT safe to use that same method. Really odd, conflicting messages...
I just tried using Bin4ry's Root Restore*version 30 with the latest Samsung ADB drivers and after the ADB restore and phone reboot (while still connected to my PC), the command prompt in Windows says that Superuser failed to be installed. :/

Hello Guys, First time poster here. I have been scouring the internet for the past few days looking for some solutions, and found that XDA was the best place for android users to congregate and give help and opinions.:highfive:
First off, let me start off by saying that I am a complete android noob when it comes to messing around with rooting and flashing. So pardon if some of the things I say come across as foolish.
My girlfriend bought me what she thought was an original iphone 5s on her recent trip to China where she was teaching English. Little did she know that she got fooled into buying what I now found out is a Goophone i5s MF353zp/a. :crying:Since I want to keep the phone since she did get it for me as a nice gesture, I am trying to get it to run a regular android 4.2.2 jelly bean or better, without all the iphone icons and iphone crap. Also the phone did not come with playstore so I cannot download apps that I would use on a regular basis. Also most of the stuff is in Chinese and I just want to be able to use it as a regular android phone. I read up on roms, and rooting and flashing, but if someone could tell me the best way to go about getting a regular android version on the phone along with google play store, It would be much appreciated.
Thanks for reading my long post. Be Safe. Cheers :good:

Thanks for your reply. Are you sure about this? Because it is currently running 4.2.2 with an ios skin from what I could read on the internet.
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. There is not much information about your device on XDA but I did find these which may help:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2449981
http://www.xda-developers.com/goophone-i5-unboxed-the-xda-way-xda-developer-tv/
I'm not that familiar with the Goophone but I believe you'll want to know the what I believe is the processor number, it starts with MTK followed by 4 numbers. Before you do anything see if you can find that and then ask in the threads linked. If all else fails ask in this forum, http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help
Good luck!

Thanks buddy. I'll check out the links you gave. :good: I might have come across the links before, but I was too scared to try something since I did not want to brick the phone. As for the processor number, I came across MT6572, if that's the one. I can't find anything with MTK. Appreciate your help in this. :fingers-crossed:
Yes, it was my mistake on the MTK. It's MT. I'll close this thread then.
To start with I wish to say a few things to be as clear as possible:
I have been visiting here for a couple of years already, but never registered because frankly - I was intimidated. I am not a dev, or a coder - I am merely a guy who enjoys tinkering a bit - and I have discovered how much fun cheap Android devices can be.
Lately a chain store has an Alcatel One Touch Pixi Pulsar A460G (TCL) from tracfone for a mere $5.
It has a nice 4" screen, Android 4.4.2 and better specs than my LG L34C - so I got it.
Searched extensively and the closest info I found was here at this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/root-alcatel-one-touch-pixi-34-official-t3193624
It seemed to root with Kingo Root - but only temporarily and its Superuser doesn't work very well at all.
Even tried the method here - but it starts & never completes:
http://androidxda.com/replace-kinguser-with-supersu
I really want to root this phone and would be happy even if I must use the app to re-install V4.3 from here:
http://alcatelonetouch.com/global-e...bile-upgrade-s-4-3-0-setup-20150126103150.rar
Also, there is a great bit of info posted here with a de-bloated stock ROM & recovery - but how can I flash it if it will not fully root and/or SU does not work ??
It seems most likely this phone has its bootloader locked by tracfone, and that maybe it is what stops it from rooting - but I do not know enough to be sure.
Any pointers to good help will be hugely appreciated.
Thanks.

Did as suggested.
I have been searching, reading, and attempting everything I could find to fix this tablet for night and days. Some root/busybox detectors/verifiers gave me different results. Before this I knew nothing about this world so i'm a real greenhorn here. All I know so far is my device is rooted because of build no. V2.0.1.JRO03C.user.root.20131219. Afterwards some apps tell me I'm rooted and some told me no. I'm afraid something went terribly wrong with the files. I can't unroot, flash a new recovery, install adb, pretty much nothing works. All the apps I've tried told me an unknown bootloader. I just want to either return the tablet to original factory default or take control of the thing. This is the info I gathered from settings>about :
Model NX007HD8G
Android V. 4.1.1
Kernel 3.0.8
Serial no. YF031412173
And the build number above
At the moment I don't know what other info you guys might need so forgive me if I'm not thorough. Please, help me take control of my device.
Hi,
Thanks for using XDA assist.
Although there are some guides that could help you solve your problem, none of them seem to have working links for you to download and use.
Because of this, I would recommend posting in the Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting forum. Please note that in order to post, you will need to create a XDA account.
Good Luck! - gsstudios
hello
I appreciate the pointer. as you can see, im officially a XDA rookie member, proudly. Very much admire the things you guys do here on your spare time. When I first came upon this site, i knew right away this is a huge community, well accomplished and highly respected. That is why when I came to a dead end, this was my first pick.
Hope to see you again,
