Sprint Techs - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note5

Hey guys, Is the Sprint Note 5 64 GB black really that hard to find? I've been waiting for 5 days and still nada.
Just curious.

Where are you looking? They are on eBay but I do not see them listed on the web site. Note 7 devices are soon to be released. Probably running out. I just bought a used one on eBay but even there saw only a few. I don't think the 64GB model was ever that popular.

I would recommend swappa. I would never buy a high end phone through ebay. You just don't know what you're going to end up with.

And yes, they are fairly hard to find especially if you want a specific color. Personally, I didn't care because my phones always go in a case anyway.

I should have clarified...this is a Total Protection Plus warranty swap. They are having a hard time finding a 64 GB Note 5 in the system. The tech said that they were rare and i thought he was just blowing smoke up my arse but here it is 5 days later and they still don't have a replacement.

Ex Sprint tech here (as of about a month ago), yes, they are. If you are trying to get a TEP replacement through a store, the technician should have submitted an order for you, even though it is on back order. The tech's regional support manager should be sending out weekly or bi-weekly updates on back order fulfillment - key word is SHOULD. I've had a customer wait 1.5 months for a 64gb S6 Edge+ before.... It happens sometimes. When a new phone is launching, recon devices become scarce. Like when the note 5 came out, literally all the note 4's were pulled from our shelves and sent back to Samsung and recon devices were impossible to find. It is unfortunately a waiting game. :|
edit: Also, what is wrong with your current device? If it is something hardware related, I would recommend looking up sprint stores in your area that have service and repair centers (*****DO NOT GO TO 3RD PARTY SPRINT STORES*****) and see if they have a harvested part available for your repair.

I bought the last 64gb at my local Best Buy. The guy in line behind me was after the same thing. He left. Wasn't you was it? He had the same reasoning I did. Need the extra space because it has no SD Slot.

I had a bootloop that wouldn't go away I odin'd to stock PD2 everything was succesful. Rebooted device and started going through setup screens and about 3 minutes later, reboot. then the cycle starts over. In another thread someone suggested that i let the battery completely drain. Prior to trying that I went to my local Sprint store and they odin'd it as well. and their results were the same....boot loop. They put in the request for the replacement device.
I travel a bunch for work and I need that hotspot to work without fail . So, I tried the battery drain thing and it worked perfectly. Sprint had given me a loaner iPhone. I put my Note 5 back on my plan, took the iPhone back and a new one is still on order. We will swap it out whenever it gets here.

Damn they gave you an iPhone for a loaner.... That sucks.

The struggle is real! I couldn't stand it.......

When I tep'd my note 4, right when note 5 launched, they had no note 4's, so I got note 5 no extra charge.
If they don't have one of the same phones in by note 7 launch, u may get lucky. Good luck.

At least they supplied you with a loaner... My old store did not have a loaner phone program in place, so it was dicey sometimes.

bought this phone at bestbuy today

So I was minding my own business talking to the best buy mobile guy that was helping me purchase this phone after getting a refund on my galaxy s6 that wasn't working out for me. Then this lady that also worked there comes up and is like "please tell me you aren't leaving the s6 for this thing". Has anyone ever been treated like that before? I found it so tacky.
It's not tacky it's there opinion. I honestly would think the same in my mind why switch from an S6 to something a year old.

Seems to me the whole transaction was none of her business. Not just tacky, but rude as well.
She sounds like a Samsung fangirl.

Well with the s6 and fingerprint scanner on my phone was pressing emergency call in my pocket so I went with a phone that I knew worked well for me which was the lg line.

I think it is more about the fact that you are "downgrading" since the phones rolling out now have better specs such as octa cores vs quad. However, if you are content with the phone, then I say forget what others think and enjoy it. If you go the full two standard years between phone upgrades, then you should have no worries. Worst case is that you may not see system updates to the latest versions of Android. Of course that is one of the reasons XDA exists...to get a custom of the latest .
Kinda rude in my opinion, What's right for her may not be right for you. I wouldn't put much thought into to be honest.

Yeah.. yet apps today can't even take a advantage of the extra cores lol... Worthless imo.
In my opinion the Samsung S6 sacrifices some S5 features such as sd card slot and removable battery (not to mention losing waterproof feature and usb3) even though camera is better. I would rather have the LG G3 because having sd slot and removable battery are important to me.
I will always pick LG over Samsung. She's just following the heard. But on the plus side she's an android user (+1). At least they did not try to sway you over to the dark side.
How long do you have to try it out? The G4 is suppose to be announced tomorrow (April 28th) and available on Wednesday the 29th. Of course it will have new phone prices vs the $0.01 you probably paid for the G3, but it might be worth considering.
I got this phone from meeting in person, excellent condition. Used it on Cricket network.
This is amazing 4k phone (my first 4k phone) I do hear LG G4 gonna be released soon but got phone for cheap price. I actually enjoyed it, I'm coming from Iphone 5s.

Ah..Best Buy
Just want to add my $.02. I bought this phone today myself as a phone to tinker with since my Note 4 is locked down. I picked this up OFF contract at BB for only $399 and I think that's a steal. Walking into the store, I already knew what their website had it listed at, but to test the BB rep, I asked how much the phone was and he quoted me $700. I asked him to ring it up just to check and sure enough, it rang up $399. We can root and CM12.1 this phone but not the Samsungs! This is a fun phone to get my crack flashing addictions satisfied with! Enjoy our our LG G3. It's still a great piece of hardware.

I got my G3 from Best Buy for $.99 when I was updating the AT&T contract. They ended up shipping me a Gold Sprint G3 instead of the Blue AT&T G3 I ordered. Took the gold one to the local BB to swap it out, but they had me call their 1800 support line.
So I'm on the line with support in my truck in the BB parking lot, the girl almost has it done for me to be able to walk back into the store to return my phone and have mine shipped to me when the call was dropped....30 minutes wasted....
So I call back, get a different person...long story short, took 45 minutes on the 2nd call for them to send me an email that contained my return label. Went home, printed the label, went to UPS, and sent my phone back.
4 days later and my Blue AT&T G3 arrived. The day after that a 2nd Blue AT&T G3 arrived at my house. I got 2 Blue G3s for $.99 because Best Buy has a horrible return department and policies. I suppose the hour and 20 minutes between 2 customer service calls, 5 miles worth of gas, and 4 days of extra waiting is worth it for both a free G3 and a 99 cent G3.
Very nice...one to rom and another to....rom! Lol.

Sorry, but I simply cannot give kudos for your actions on this. No matter how terrible their returns department is, or what kind of "on the phone" experience you had with their rep, you are still not entitled to keep both of these devices. Man up, be honest and send one of them back and explain to them their mistake. It may not be a drop in the bucket to them, but it wold be loads of good karma for you my friend.
There are a LOT of ladies like that in this world unfortunately. Especially if they in the upper-level socioeconomic classes.
I believe that's why there are a lot more single men these days... they just don't want to put up with snooty broads.
I purchased my LG G3 D850 from a gentleman on Ebay. It was unusual in the fact that when he listed it, he put no photos of the phone in the listing.
He stated it was in "Pristine" condition and set the bidding on it for $320. I was intrigued, so I sent him a PM via Ebay. He responded quickly, plus it was
serendipitous in the fact that he resides in the same city I do! He told me that he had the phone for only six months and was moving on to something
different. He said it was not because of any issues with the phone... he just wanted to get a different phone. (An uber techie nerd type... he told me.)
I kept the listing in a "Watch" status and noticed an hour before the auction was to expire that only one other person had bid on it and it was at $325.
I waited until about a minute before the end and set my bid at $330, then clicked the "Submit" at 8 seconds prior to end. I WON IT! Woohoo!
The seller agreed to let me pickup the phone locally since he resided about 12 miles across town from where I live. I was very happy to see that the phone
was truly in pristine condition, it looked like it never came out of the box. All original contents and box too. He'd even put a tempered glass screen protector on it.
I felt I made a great purchase indeed.

If it had been just Best Buy I would have. But it wasn't. What makes me keep it was going through the worst AT&T contract upgrade ever. I was shipped the wrong phones 3 times, returned them all. I spent 8 to 10 hours a day for 5 days straight on the line with AT&T's reps, 60% of the time on hold (and the reps spoke in a horrible broken English because they're from India). Then AT&T changed my contract 3 different times, each to a plan that I specifically said that I didn't want. The first misorder, it was 3 G3's on the Next program....that was $400 some odd dollars out of the bank that I couldn't afford which caused 3 different checks for bills to bounce. Took 5 days to get that money back....
I still have two more misorders, three trips to the AT&T Store, another $150 taken from the bank, the Best Buy experience, and a bit of BS dealing with UPS to return the wrong G3. It really is a long story, but I'm keeping the phone due to all the hell I went through with AT&T.
As far as karma is concerned....three weeks ago lightning struck the power line between my house and the street. That only fried all my wall plugs, around 10 thousand in major appliances, my computer (which was uploading some Rin based LP stock kernel commits to github), and caused sparks and smoke to spew from anything connected to a cable line. Oh, and for kicks, hail damage, from the same lighting storm, caused my roof to leak.
Normally I would have returned it, but I spent over 40 hours on the line with AT&T, had money taken that caused bills to bounce, lost cable/internet for a week because I only had the funds to cover electricity or TV after AT&T took money the shouldn't have....Oh, and two months later I now pay $5 more a month and have 2gb less data per month because I just got tired of dealing with AT&T and figured that, after all I'd dealt with, the plan they ended up putting me on was good enough and in budget.
Did all of this mobile because my desktop and two laptops are fried and don't work.
I gave back an S6 and G4, going back to a g3(along with my 6+). They are not worth the extra cash.

Is Sprint still replacing Note 7 as of today?

This has been an absolute nightmare for me, I just want my recalled one replaced.
The way I see it, sprint should replace my Note 7 (blue LED, first model).
Because a 2nd recall hasn't even happened. Plus, I know for a fact from hearing anecdotes from people with Customer Care and here on XDA that some store have extra Note 7's because people opted to get their replacements sent in the mail instead.
As of today are sprint stores absolutely refusing to replace anything?
This doesn't make sense, until a 2nd recall happens, shouldn't customers get to decide for themselves whether they want to tough it out? I realize the 2nd recall may happen tomorrow or even the next day, but it hasn't happened YET.
If anyone got theirs replaced yesterday or even today, can you give some feedback on the where and how? Corporate Store maybe?
Thanks in advance,
TechShui
https://twitter.com/sprintnews/status/785649415100960768
being that the carriers are demanding it be returned, CPSA is demanding they be returned and Samsungs own website is saying the only option is to return for another device, you probably have 0 chance of getting one.
I ran into the same problem with the original batch. Ordered for pickup the day before the recall, showed up and the sprint dude had left without calling me, couldn't even cancel the order and go elsewhere as he had to cancel it. After leaving pissed off, recall happened and they wouldn't give it to me, even though per their systems I already paid for the phone and it was mine. So order was cancelled and I had to wait. If they wouldn't let me have the phone that was technically mine after even talking with sprint corporate, no way are they going to exchange one now.
* *When Samsung says it's putting an end to the Galaxy Note 7 for good, it's not making any exceptions; the company has*confirmed to*Motherboard*that there are no plans to repair or refurbish a single recalled device. Every Note 7 that Samsung receives back will be scrapped.*“We have a process in place to safely dispose of the phones,” a spokesperson said.
Earlier today, Samsung*adjusted its third quarter profit estimates*to account for over $2 billion in losses — a direct result of the Note 7 recall saga. But as*Motherboard's*story explains, the environment will almost certainly pay a more significant cost. Samsung manufactured over 2 million Note 7s, and inefficient smartphone recycling practices make the difficult-to-mine rare earth elements and other components irrecoverable.*“These are all very expensive in terms of the environmental impact, but also in the lives they impact to mine them," iFixit CEO*Kyle Wiens told*Motherboard.
Samsung hasn't expanded on exactly what its disposal process for the Note 7 entails, but environment-minded organizations like Greenpeace might urge the company to be transparent about the way it disposes of so many smartphones over the coming weeks and months. The company issues a sustainability report, but hasn't yet factored the Note 7 recall into those figures. Note 7 customers are receiving*fireproof return boxes*for safe transport of recalled (and potentially hazardous) units back to the company; the boxes can only be shipped via ground courier services and are forbidden from being transported by aircraft.
You won't see a second recall as it just being called an expansion.
http://www.samsung.com/us/note7recall/
I get it sucks, but its not that bad for you... its a nightmare for samsung and the people that have had their phones explode.

Tuffing it out is not even worth the remote risk. Furthermore sprint nor Samsung wants to risk liability. I wouldn't be surprised if Samsung or sprint eventually sends a self executing software update to disable the phone completely
I don't think they will take it that far, several people I know are still using theirs without issues.
How/when did this phone become a guaranteed fire hazard? If 30 blow up out of 14+ million devices?
If they were going to push an OTA killer wouldn't they have done so by now? I have however, given up hope of ever getting a replacement. I'm hoping if I wait maybe Sprint will offer a better phone than the S7 edge.
Has anyone been given the option of another, non-samsung phone as a replacement yet?

Issue at a T-Mobile Store

Ive been in multiple stores to replace my T-Mobile S7 but the guys keep giving me a hard time to do so. I dont have insurance on the phone, Ive had poor battery life and bad pixel burn in as my issues they say it can be replaced they just keep pushing me away from doing so. You have to go through Samsung. Unless the devices 15 days or fewer from the time you purchased it from T-Mobile they ain't going to do anything.

Imagine that. They have had to replace so many "flagship devices" that its on backorder even though it has been out for like 6 months.
They actually sold a lot of s7 devices and s7 edge due to the replacement of note 7 models and as well promotions recently where they bought one s7, got one free.

If you are outside of the 15days and dont have insurance then it's not T-Mobile place to replace contact Samsung. Next time just pay the exter for insurance can't get mad at them for following rules and your lack of common sense since you got a 700$ device with no insurance

He also told me it was funny that they are on backorder though he heard that Samsung is focusing production on them. I also asked if they are the people to go to in this situation, he said and I didn't even know "the phone has a 1 year warranty". I completely forgot and I didn't know that they covers stolen devices and other damage other than cracks and water.

That's actually 100% false. T-Mobile gives you a 1 year warranty with the device, and calling tech support will get you a replacement for $20, or $5 if you have jump/insurance. (Jump/Insurance also keeps the warranty going past 1 year)

You're the one without common sense. The 15 day rule is if you aren't happy with the phone... That could be because it's defective, or you don't like it. Your carrier still provides a 1 year warranty. I've been in to stores 11, 6,5 months after purchase with a truly defective phone and the carrier replaced it every time. My store has a service center and it probably has to be a corporate store. Without one you need to call your carrier. They won't give you a new phone off the sales floor shelf (unless within 15 days) they have stock specifically for warranty exchange, most of the time they are factory refurbs, sometimes new, yet I could never tell the difference . They might not have it in stock but will order it. Normally you can pay $20 extra for overnight shipping (AT&T) Most recently was only exception as far as in store replacement . My s7 edge had a messed up home button. Also had a scratch on the screen. Local store said Samsung would probably reject the warranty due to the scratch. I left, called 611 and had a new phone the next day.
Edit: I've experienced this with 2 carriers, AT&T and Sprint. Both corporate stores. Joe Blow who has a franchise store wont replace it. The franchise store told me the same old BS that i had to call manufacturer (samsung) Calling your carrier seems to be the easiest way in most cases.

Class-action lawsuit targets LG over legendary G4, V10 bootloop issues

https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy...ets-lg-over-legendary-g4-v10-bootloop-issues/
About freaking time!
I will never buy buy another LG device again, every LG device I have owned has had at least 2 to 3 fatal flaws.
On the case of LGV10 I have experienced: Overheating, Failed Finger Print Readers, Image Retention/Burn in and finally the dreaded boot loop of death that is very real and common to ALL LGV10's and going back as far the G4.
I guess I was one of the lucky ones. Haven't had many of those issues. Only the image retention but since I started using the Blue Filter app, no more image retention. Been using this phone for almost a year and a half now. Did switch to the Note 4 briefly but came back to this phone. Love the fingerprint scanner, no issues with it, even with using Zerolemon battery & case. Also the always on 2nd screen is so useful.

No problems here either. Got it first day of launch. Still going strong.
Besides, LG is fixing the bootloops issue passed the warranty window. Wtf more do you want? They don't legally have to.
And when will people realize that class action suits only benefit the lawyers. It hurts the company which will hurt the consumers in the end.

my v10 is finally exhibiting signs of oncoming failure. It's randomly freezing now, and it's not a software issue since it still happens if I go back to totally stock with no root or extra apps installed.
I am on my third V10, the first two were victims of said bootloop issue
I have mine for a year now, without any problems...
I'm on my second V10 first had endless bootloop and this one has screen burn in.
Bought mine on launch (2015-10-31) finally bootlooped this past Tuesday and of course it happens 3 months after the warranty extension that others have reported. I didn't even hear about the warranty extension until it was already too late otherwise I would have had it looked at because of screen image retention/ghosting. Requested an RMA# so I'll see what happens after they get it.
Anyone know if they'll even care it was rooted when it died? Will they try to claim I broke it?
UPDATE: While trying to recover my data the phone stopped charging so it was completely dead when they got it. LG repaired my phone for free, not counting shipping, their turnaround was 2 days.
On my third, got my replacement and then got home and it was ****ing up already. Had another one sent out 3 hours later. This one is already ****ing up as well. It also has some ****ing malware that came with it that I cant get rid of no matter how many times I reset it back to factory. I was looking at getting the V20, but at this point I am probably going to go with an Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe next.

No there not actually there simply replacing them (with other faulty unit) within their un-publicissd 18 Month from manufacturing date as opposed to only modern there one year from. Purchase Date so they have done exstreamly. Little and depending on what country we are talking about the likly broke some laws by continuing to sell the devices after they new thew were found. Faulty (witch we k ow as they admitted it) sound alot like a car dealer taking the bulb put out the cheack engine light before you bought it, I assume it this happened to you would see it as the rest of us see this
I got a refurbished one from eBay about 6 mos ago. Never had the bootloop issue but getting the image burned screen sometimes and it overheats and is very slow from time to time at that time I just reboot it. Other than that everything else is alright.

Reading this was pretty interesting. Literally if you look at one reply to the next it's "no issues here" then "mine sucks like a girl named Hoover!" talk about hit or miss.
Would you or would you not buy this phone again for say $200 if you had to have a 5.5" screen or larger like this one??

In my case I was looking for 64 GB or more internal + SD + removable battery, there aren't many phones with that combo left so yeah I'd easily buy it again at that price especially if it's New. It's still a nice phone and supposedly will get N. If not for the bootloop issue I could see this phone being viable for another 3 years barring some major tech change.
I saw someone on reddit mention they purchased their V10 using a credit card (Amex) that offers extended warranty coverage and they were able to make a claim without having to send in their - I presume dead - phone. So I'd highly recommend buying with a CC that offers extended warranty, if you are buying one, that way you have some peace of mind if you find yourself with a dead phone and LG has stopped free repairs.
My third V10 bootlooped again over the weekend. I was scrolling through Facebook and the phone froze. I pulled the battery and it just rebooted over and over... I went to my local T-Mobile store and the rep said that I was the third person to come in there within the past few days with the same issue. The rep also said that my phone was no longer under warranty and made a phone call to tech support to see what they could do. They agreed to a warranty replacement since I had this problem so many times before. I told the rep that I didn't want another LG V10 or any LG for that matter, however, in order to Jump I had to turn in a working phone. The rep told me they would file the warranty claim and as soon as the phone arrived in the store, they would let me immediately turn it in and upgrade. I was holding out until the fall to see if the Note 8 would get released but seeing as how I can no longer wait, I think I'm getting a S8+.

Paid 129 for my phone it has an image retention issue but. Seeing as I get a he'll of a lot of hardware for 129 I would not mind again and again
I just had to send my phone in to LG and get the motherboard replaced. It cost me nothing, had the phone at least a year and a half at that point. Called up LG and talked to a rep and said it started randomly rebooting and then wouldn't turn on, he knew exactly what I was talking about and knew of the issues with the G4 and V10. Followed a few steps online through their webpage and had no issues. Only downside is that it came back with Nougat on it, so no root or exposed yet.

Ever had issues with samsung trade in?

I traded a perfectly fine device and this morning i got an email saying phone wasnt accepted cause it didnt turn on. Have you ever had issues with samsung trade in? What did you do next?
Yes, I sent in a phone and was told it was cracked. I took pics before I sent it. I called and the rep reversed it. I'd call and say it was functioning just fine.
Talked to someone. They said they are going to reevaluate it and get back to me after 5 days.
Only have done it once but had no issues. I was afraid though after all the horror stories I have read. It was a long excruciating wait lol. Sorry about your issue hopefully they get it sorted out for you.
I sent a device in i bricked once they claimed was received destroyed. It was near mint. Claimed screen was broke all kinds of crap. When I got it back it was the same screen I sent it in with

They should've been able to do it immediately. By chance you have proof it was functioning prior to sending it in?
Now I'm actually debating trading in my s10 plus...just recently got the note 20 ultra but I've been really thinking about the fold 2 ... samsung will give me 400 vs best buy 300 but I'm actually thinking of skipping the hassle for the extra 100 I would save ...

I honestly think its better to go with BestBuy if you want peace of mind. I did with bestbuy before and they inspect it right in from of you.

Definitely going with best buy! I just doubled check and they have a promotion for trade in if I get the fold 2.
300 for the trade plus 250 samsung promotion. For a total of 550 discount
Are they still using Ingram Micros? Its always the case when they skim off the top for self profit by lying about the condition of your device.

Still using Ingram Micros as of the Note 20 Ultra release. Ive utilized the trade in program for the Note 20 Ultra and the Note 10. No issues whatsoever. My trade ins though were pretty clean to begin with.

Yes they are!
I personally haven't had an issue although the last exchange went a bit differently than usual. Given the usual CV-19 crap that all big biz uses, typical.
I traded my S9+ in and got $400 off my Note 20 Ultra. They emailed me that they received it and it could be five business days before I get an answer. It took almost a month before they emailed me that the trade in was approved!
Even right now, I checked my order status and the trade in status reads "SkippedIMMTriageWindow". Not sure what that means but I have my approved email and have NOT been charged the $400 as some did that had (below) happen!
I was getting concerned as I found /r threads and youtube videos of nightmares where trade ins were rejected and the phone was sent back and the phone they got back wasn't even their phone! And completely different, like trading in a s9 and getting back a LG V40! Man I'd be pissed.
ALWAYS, ALWAYS take GOOD photos of your trade in including screen shots clearly showing IEMI, even with a piece of paper with your name written on it. (Like Swappa requires for proof of ownership). Also GOOD photos around the bezels, back glass, et al. To provide POSITIVE PROOF that you own that device and that's the device you're sending in.
Otherwise, it's harder to defend against these goofs whether intended or not. Use a good credit card too, along with said proof in case you need to open a dispute.

Reference 2nd from last paragraph, good advice.
That's what I did when I traded in my Note 8 for a 9, even took a final video of it being boxed with their shipping label .
You guys making me feel very pessimistic about the final outcome of that trade in. I was able to confirm the picture they sent is the right IMEI.
So will see.
Stil waiting on the result of the new test
Quick update here... received email today saying trade in was successful. Glad i pushed them to test the phone again.
Thanks for the feedback
