Oneplus one acting weird - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi!
Recently, my oneplus one has been misbehaving or acting weird. I'm running the latest CM13 (has been like this for the past 5 builds or so) and the latest boeffla kernel (also tried a couple of versions) here are the things it does:
Randomly freezes and turns off and won't automatically reboot (sometimes takes about 30 minutes before I can even hard reboot it sometimes the red LED is on and lots of unreadable partitions show up on my pc when plugging it in) and it will also enter some super battery drain mode where it can kill it's entire battery in less than an hour
the WI-FI randomly dies and won't reconnect until rebooted
Top part of the touch screen not really workig? Like the adress bars in browsers don't work but when I try to interact with the notification shade in that area it works fine...
Battery drain: not really an issue, just started happening today with nova launcher sucking the battery dry
And overall it's really slow...
I'm not sure if it's boeffla kernel or CM13 or the phone is just dead...
I tried to reflash a dozen times so not sure
Can anyone help me with this?

Same here but i have everything stock... Except Root and bootloader unlocked

Flash stock rom, make no changes don't even restore Google data just set it up as a clean device, and see if it's still misbehaving. If it is its hardware.

[Q] Wifi issues and battery drain lollipop 5.01

Purchased the shield tablet with controller yesterday. It came with 4.4 and seemed to run fine (wifi speed very fast etc) Soon after upgraded to 5.01 and the problems started..
There seems to be the Miscellaneous entry under the battery settings which is using around 40% of the battery according to the info. Battery drain seems to be quite fast.
Since then, today I decided to unlock bootloader and root the device which was successful. Miscellaneous entry does not seem to appear anymore
However there is the wifi issue that has occurred since I updated to 5.01. When the tablet goes to sleep and when I wake it up, connection is lost (and rather annoying where a game needs to download 1gb+ of data). It does also occur while I am using the tablet. Wifi sometimes just disconnects (and the entry on the wifi list for my router is showing as "saved" - clicking on connect, starts it up again..
I have checked through the settings and disabled the wifi off when sleep option as well as gps only for location etc, but still to no avail.
Has anyone encountered and solved this issue on lollipop? Or is this also an issue with 4.4? I did not use it for long before updating to 5.01 hence not sure If that problem would occur then (but seemed blistering fast for the hour or so when I was testing it)
I'm having the same issue. I looked on the forums on their website and it seems this is still a problem for a good amount of people. Can't find any solutions though. Thought maybe a hard reset might do the trick but that didn't help. Pretty frustrating...
Wifi connectivity seems ok when I am near the access point, but seems that the sensitivity somewhat has been reduced since the update (as the connection was more stable and reliable further away from the router on 4.4)
Hows your battery after rooting? Does it still drain horribly?
I have the same problem

THAT DRIVE ME CRRAAZZZYYYY!!!! the same happens to me everyday and I can't find anything about it online.. somebody please solve our problem!
I think I have partially solved the problem. The below is what I have done (Will at some point activate some of these options one by one and see which one would be the main culprit)
Settings->Wifi->Advanced Wifi - Turn off Ethernet override and turn off "scanning always available"
Settings->Wifi->Advanced Wifi - Keep on "turn wifi on during sleep" - Can turn this option off for some additional battery life
Settings->Controller->Disable "enable gamepad mapper" - From other sources it seems that this may be one of the main culprits in battery power sucking
Settings->Location->Turn this off (If wanting to keep on, leave it on GPS only)
Using the above settings, and charging the tablet approximately 15 hours ago, the battery life of the tablet has decreased by only 6% (and currently there is no - miscellaneous showing on the battery option)
There is still the issue with weak wifi (It works perfectly well when the device is near the access point) perhaps a future update may increase the sensitivity somewhat
One other important thing.. I decided to hard reset the tablet after upgrading from 4.4 to 5.01. This may help. Once this is done, then follow the steps above
Did miscellaneous ever come back for you? I did reset and changed all the settings and miscellaneous wasn't there for about 2 hours and then came back. Down to 50% battery with miscellaneous taking up 17%. I'm now wondering if this is an issue with the software or my tablet in particular...
For me, once I disabled the gamepad mapper, I no longer experience the outrageous battery drain issue, and misc. no longer appears in the battery status page and has not returned.

I didn't experience this miscellaneous battery drain until the most recent 2.2 update. When I upgraded to lollipop I did a complete wipe, rooted and unlocked the boot loader. When I updated to 2.2 I just flashed via recovery and wiped dalvic/cache.
I'm wondering if I need to do a complete wipe. I haven't seen any solutions to this, but it's strange that it just now started to be a problem for me.

The main culprit seems to be the "game mapper". - the system that maps the controller to touch screen controls. I guess perhaps updating to 2.2 turned it back on. Turn it off via settings and reboot and see if that makes any difference.

Thanks for the reply,
I turned the game mapper off via settings, and still got the misc. drain, so I froze the nvidia game mapper and a few other nvdia controller system apps via titanium back up and I'm still getting the misc. battery drain. I just wiped the cache, and dalvik cache 3 times, but I doubt that will do anything. It's looking like I will have to wipe and do a clean install, just seems so weird that something that didn't even change the android version number would give me this problem.
It's really annoying as the battery drains soo fast (like 20% just reading a book in my e-reader app)
before I wipe I just wanted to see if others had this problem with the latest update, as it doesn't appear too common I will do a full wipe later when I have time. I hope that fixes it.

I have the exact same issues as you describe. WiFi is about 25% of what it should be even standing right next to my netgear nighthawk. All other wifi devices work fine in the house. Disabled game mapper and my misc is still running the battery down. Tried wiping to factory with no luck. System UI crashes sometimes and the tablet freezes up constantly (especially when using Chrome and Google search). I'm thinking it could be Google play services related but not definitely sure.
Sheild LoLi screen changes orientation, goes black then to homescren
So seems you peeps having same problems I have experienced and troubleshot as well, but here is one I can't figure out...
Playing game (TaiChi Panda mmorpg) which only runs in landscape mode. I will be playing and all of a sudden tablet tries to change orientation away from landscape, the screen goes black (or has game shrunk and stuck in middle of screen) then will go black and puts me at my homescreen which is non-responsive and most times I have to hard power down. I've turned off screen/device rotation and still does it. The problem also happens with other apps and stuff at times as well. I've even turned all notifications etc I could cause thought maybe something was trying to interfere.
I have the screen flicker as well at times, feel like watching old black and white movie way it flickers.
Battery lifes went up with some tweaks found here (ty vm!).
Sorry to bump such an old thread, but has anyone figured out what it causing these issues on Lollipop?

Help needed diagnosing phone battery issues

So for the past few weeks my phone has really been acting up. I'll try and make this an organized question/post.
Here's the symptoms:
-Phone drops from 30ish % down to 1%, then powers off and wont turn back on due to low battery.
-Phone occasionally reports fully charged at different levels (such as 80% or 50%), upon reboot, it is listed as 100%.
-Some days I can watch it drop 1% every few seconds once it reaches 35%, literally like it's counting down.
-Other days it just works fine, I can use it to 5% and then charge with no problems.
Phone information:
-Z1 Compact
-Problem persists between ROM flashes and android versions. Have experienced issues on stock 4.4.4, stock 5.0.1, AOSP 4.4.4 and AOSP 5.1.
Really, any sort of help or places to start would be greatly appreciated. I don't even know what to try anymore and I'd really like to avoid trying to replace it (warranty expired already).
Attached a screenshot illustrating it happening. I unplugged my phone last night after charging it to full. Made it to work, put it in airplane mode, turned wifi on. Updated some apps and restarted it. Rebooted to about 10%. Charging again now.

[Q] Battery level stuck at 0%

About two months ago my old battery stopped working well and always turned off before reaching 0% so I bought a new battery off amazon and replaced it. Everything was fine. The battery lasted easily for a day and I didn't notice any problems. But yesterday my phone suddenly shut down. But it wasn't like with the old battery where the display just went black. Instead it showed the usual shutting down "notification" as if I turned it off automatically. When I plugged in the charger I noticed that the phone did show the lightning charging sign but was always stuck at 0%. That's why I assume that this problem is software related. Also when I am in the recovery I can unplug it and it won't turn off. Of course I already tried quite some things.
At first I cleared the cache partition - didn't work.
Then I downgraded from Android M preview to Android 5.1.1 using the flash-all.sh - installation did work but still won't charge or show that it is being charged.
Then I installed TWRP and wiped everything possible for several times and then used adb push command to move the latest cyanogenmod nightly to the phone and installed it - still won't show any change in battery level.
Do you have an idea what might be the problem and a possible solution?
Thanks in advance.
Have you tried another battery?

[Q] Weird Battery Drain + Indicator Problem

I'm not sure if it's more appropriate to post here
or on the custom ROM forum itself, but here's my battery issue:
Issue: Abnormally fast battery drain. My battery would
be fully charged, and almost immediately start draining until
it'd show 1% within 2 hrs. Screen would be off mostly (normal
use).
Been on a custom ROM since January 2017 (crDroid) and have had no problems with it since,
except 3 days ago, when the problem first appeared.
Things that are ON: LTE data (or Wi-fi), Auto apps update on
Google Play Store (never been problematic before), Location,
Things that are OFF: Bluetooth, ScreenCast, Caffeine
When I check Battery in Settings, the numbers don't add up.
I'd have battery indicator at 70% for example, but Screen,
Android System, all other apps would add up to only 7%. So
that's a whopping 23% unaccounted for.
But here's the weird thing: it drains fast until 1%, then at 1%,
the phone is supposed to initiate automatic shutdown like it has before.
When this issue cropped up, the phone keeps going for about 6 hours
or so before shutdown is started. Checking Kernel Adiutor occasionally,
I'd see a much slower decrease in voltage which probably reflects
more accurately the power drawdown situation.
Things I've done:
-clear cache (both through File Explorer and TWRP Recovery)
-clear batterystats.bin
-calibrate battery after full charge/discharge (via Root Essentials,
which basically does the same thing as manually deleting batterystat.bin,
if I'm not mistaken)
-Resetting App Preferences via Setting/Battery
None of the above has worked. Any idea what might be wrong?
My device is a Zuk Z1, with a 4100mAh battery. It usually lasts me more
than a day on normal use, but as the attached pic shows, it's at 96%
yet without having used any apps yet, has only 2 hrs of juice left.
I've tried reflashing my ROM, wiping everything including formatting data
yet nothing has worked.
I'm a light user, as I don't play games or watch videos on my phone.
Neither do I use graphics-intensive apps. I haven't used processor-intensive apps
that require constant GPS (like Google Maps, Waze) since then.

Not yet. Am going to try an AOSP-based ROM later.
I've been deleting apps piecemeal, but have faile to pinpoint the culprit.
I have almost come to the conclusion that it's the ROM that's problematic.
But if that were the case, why haven't I had the same problem since
when I first flashed this custom ROM months ago;
and why is the problem reappearing when that same ROM is re-flashed now?
OK, I've flashed 3 other ROMs: Citrus-CAF, NucleaROM and stock, and the problem persists.
By doing the above, I've crossed out the possibility of it being the ROM. Neither is it the battery
itself, because it would've shut down by itself at 1%, yet at 1% I can last 6 or 7 hours of light use.
Anyone out there have any idea?
If you get the same results, the battery is trashed. Is it aftermarket?

The battery? No, it's the factory original.
It would not be unusual for a battery to fail in a month or two. I've had that happen to a couple laptops where I work.

That would be pretty unusual for reputable companies. If ever it did happen in my case, perhaps it's a lemon batch.
Sadly, I bought this without warranty.
Not really, happens all the time in laptop world. Even with oem batteries.

New phone with no apps added, phone disabled, screen off, drains far too much battery

Hi
I've got a brand new PH-1 and haven't yet had time to set it up properly, only started it up, let it update software and used for an hour or so before testing the idle battery drain.
I haven't installed any apps or changed any settings other than to disable the google app (to prevent it listening for or responding to "ok google"). I tried out the 360 camera, signed in to gmail and browsed a few websites, before charging back to full and restarting the phone before this test anyway.
But leaving it idle with the screen off and with phone network disabled (there's not even a SIM inserted), only wifi on with good signal, it lost 65% battery in under 22 hours. Screen on time was less than five minutes.
Is this a hardware issue I should RMA, or is it considered normal? If this is normal and there's no easy fix, I'll probably end up having to return the phone anyway for a refund, because if it can't even last a day and half in idle there's no way it would last a reasonable amount of time with normal usage.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Since there isn't a sim card installed, try going to airplane mode and then turning WIFI on.
I am getting about 1.2% drain with cell network and wifi enabled along with all my standard apps installed.
On a typical day with 1-2h SOT, I usually have 60-70% battery left at midnight. I'd try to reset the phone, and then testing again - occasionally a system update will end up doing something funny
I left it overnight with airplane mode on, so even wifi was off, and it's a little better but not by much. Screen on time was one minute.
With airplane mode on, screen off, no dodgy apps, the phone really shouldn't be doing anything to drain battery.
I'll try a full factory reset and see what happens.
Just to follow up, a full factory reset seems to have fixed the issue. Even after doing the same things I had done before (connected to wifi, updated, logged in to gmail, etc) the battery now drains at a much more sensible rate.
Very strange that a factory reset made a difference since it was new from the factory when I had the issue, but I guess something strange happened in the update like dsip suggested.
Thanks for the help!

That's ? percent normal behavior. Anytime you flash a ROM (new phone =new ROM) you need to wait a bare minimum of a charge cycle (more like three in my experience) before you get the slightest idea what your actual battery drain is going to look like. think of it like breaking in the engine on a new car.
