One of the main reasons I installed Cyanogenmod was to connect to ad hoc networks from OS X... Now I can see the network I create, but can't connect to it.
I'm assuming something must be changed in the wpa_supplicant.conf file but I have no idea what to do exactly.
Has anyone been able to connect to ad hoc networks with this build on an XT1032?
(Bit of a n00b here, but if I made it this far I guess nothing is impossible)

hey guys,
I'm trying to connect to my own ad hoc connection that i set up on my laptop.
( i want to use my laptop as a wifi hotspot for fast internet)
My phone is a HD2 running the hyperdroid cm7 2.1.0 ROM (android 2.3.4)
my phone does detect the ad hoc network but when i try to connect i seems like it does nothing..
what it does:
It's adding my connection to the rememberred ones. but it's always out of range
the same connection gets found again but it doesn't recognise it to be the same as the other one.
i can keep connecting to the new ones but the whole process starts over again and over time i have an unlimited of the same connections as remembered but out of range..
any one knows what i did wrong or what i should change to make it work?

no one in this fourm agree with me
I am not very sure about the first one but I can totally agree with you on the ad hoc network issue. Coming from a Windows Mobile user, I am very disappointed with the fact that my windows mobile 6.1 device can connect to adhoc connections perfectly while no Android devices can. In the past, I used ad-hoc connection to share internet with my device, but now I have to create a virtual AP to get my phone to connect.
Hi
I'm trying to use the internet connection from my ubuntu on my Android devices. When I create a new ad hoc wireless network in ubuntu, it shows up on my tablet (Asus SL101) running Android 3.2.1 but it doesn't show up on my Nexus S running latest CyanogenMod 9 nightly.
I know this has something to do with the wpa_supplicant. What do I have to change to enable ad hoc networks on my phone with ICS?
I've found a few solutions but they are made for Gingerbread...
I setup my laptop with an Ad Hoc mesh network and connect to it with two other laptops; however my stock HTC ONE S doesn't see the Ad Hoc network. What can I do?
It appears that vanilla android does not support Ad-Hoc networks.

Various posts claim using a custom "wifi_supplicant" fixes the problem.
Is there a ad hoc supported custom wifi_supplicant file for HTC One S running 4.0 or 4.1?
Hello everyone,
I wanted to know is it possible to connect to a specific AP even if there is multiple AP's with same SSID. Android as it is its made to be simple and it will only recognize one WiFi Network...
About the problem: On my college we have a WiFi network with multiple AP's and same SSID but for some reason one of the AP's is not working correctly i would connect to another one but i cant see other AP's as they all have same SSID.
Question: How can i see all AP's even if they have same SSID and connect to specific one ? Can i use terminal or is there an App that can help me (I was unable to fin any app that would help but maybe there is something that can get the job done)
Thank you
Bump ?
As far as I know there's nothing you can do about it. Maybe there's some root-app out there which lets you connect to a specific MAC address, but Android doesnt offer such a feature by itself.
Android just connects to the strongest signal of a network it knows .. and that's it.

I know, that's why I'm asking on XDA so some of the Linux experts or Android Developers can suggest me something. Some app some terminal command or something ... Thanks for your response anyway
