Samsung S3 i9300 Dead after trying to install a custom ROM (noob here) - General Questions and Answers

So here is what happened.
I wanted to upgrade my android 4.3 to newer versions. I rooted my phone using kingoroot. It said it was successful. Then using TWRP manager app I tried to install the latest recovery image for samsung galaxy s3 i9300. It told me that it failed and that i could reboot now. i selected that but the app hanged (the rest of phone was working fine). then i manually restarted the phone using power button. it did restart but the screen remained black and the led (which glows red while charging) turned on and was changing shades of blue. I waited a bit then took out the battery. After that the phone is not turning on at all. I tried the soft and hard reset (pressing vol up+ home+ power button) but no luck. When i connect the phone to my laptop it gives a notification sound (ding!) but nothing more.
Please help me bring back my dead phone.
P.S: All this just to play pokemon GO

Thanks for the reply.
How can i flash a stock ROM when it doesn't turn on (doesn't go to download mode) ?
I read something about JTAG repairs but i don't think i have access to that sort of equipment.

You already have a thread for this here:

[Q] Can't get blue recovery screen to load up

I have been running on the gb 2.3.3 rom (rooted) that I have flashed using odin back in summer and now decided to do some more upgrading . So I found a new rom that was very intriguing to me: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1305145 After doing some research I realized I needed to do a different type of flashing (cwm?), and not through odin. So I downloaded root explorer into my phone and followed the procedures in this forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1122508 but every time I try to put my phone in the recovery mode (holding volume up + down + power) it wouldn't go into the blue screen. Instead, it would just restart, and restart, etc.. Any suggestions? Do I need to do something with the kernels?
p.s.hahah after messing around and looking through forums all day, I got a little impatient and flashed gb 2.3.6 using odin in the mean time

Try this.
Basically do what youre doing but instead of keeping on holding to it, hold on to Volup+voldown+power for 2 reboots, then on the 3rd reboot, the gs4g screen in the beginning lights up a slight lighter than usual. Let go of the power button, See if this works.

Alright! I can get into the recovery screen. But this is with the 2.3.6 gb rom. The problem now is that I don't know how to root it. The forum tells me to go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16160325 but I don't know which one to dl and flash. Would any of them work?

Download the Odin KJ1 version.
Just making a quick check. You ARE using a galaxy s 4g right? if so, then from that link, download the kg4.tar from the odin section. Then flash via odin. .
-edit.- listen to fbis. Hes more experianced than me.
I personally used the kg4. cause that was all there was back then. Ahaha. Glw flashing

Hi I have the same problem but I still cant get into recovery, I go straight into Download mode. Please Help
It might be because your phone is connected to the computer? If so, try disconnecting it
No its not that, I can access it without it being connected to a computer.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1183413
This thread says the original GB rom changed the key mapping. Any ideas on where I can find a fix. I think thats what happened to me.
hmm I'm still relativley new to this kind of stuff as well, so the only route I know that you can do that will most likley fix the problem is to odin to a newer rom, perhaps the one I have linked above, then odin the kernal as well to get it rooted and follow the guide on how to do it if you're confused. Then turn off your phone, hold (volume up + volume down + power), screen should boot up then dissapear, boot up again, then disappear, and on the third boot up, just release the power button but continue holding on to the volume up + volume down buttons and just wait. The cwm screen should come up from what I experienced on two different sgs4g's. Hope that helps somewhat lol. I'm sure there might be a easier way to just fix the key mapping but I'm not to sure on how to do it. gl
I just verified that method works for me as well. I'm lazy, though, and downloaded Quick Boot from the app store as it lets you boot into recovery or download mode. Less fuss.

Galaxy S2 not booting to recovery or download mode

I am a novice. Please excuse if my forum etiquette is not upto the mark
Issues:
1. Phone not booting into recovery or download mode
2. USB Jig not working as well.
3. When turning on from power off, skips Samsung boot screen as well as ROM boot animation and directly opens home screen.
Background:
Followed instructions on this thread to get rid of yellow triangle (As far as I know, followed instructions to the dot) :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1354888
Ever since, I face the three issues listed above.

Thanks for your response, Aramil:
I've tried multiple times to:
1. Boot to recovery mode - Black screen, only the two soft buttons light up.
2. Boot to download mode - Black screen, only the two soft buttons light up.
3. Turn off phone and connect USB Jig - No response.
4. Removed battery and then replaced it while simultaneously pressing volume down+middle key+power on - No Response.
SOLVED!!
Alrighty. I solved it myself!!
After more than a week of very limited help from members, I stumbled upon the solution to this issue.
The problem was with the bootloader. I flashed a stock bootloader, and all my issues were fixed!!

Any suggestions on how I can get more people to post replies? Almost 200 people saw my post, but just Aramil replied! I must say I felt a bit letdown by the community. Anyways, Thanks Aramil!

no recovery or download modes and irregular bootup
I have this trouble also and think it is a bootloader problem. Rinuvimal says problem solved by flashing a stock bootloader. How is that done please?
My problem is:
1. I think it started when I bought a USB jig. To use this I needed to flash an old bootloader which I did through Odin.
2. Now I cannot access CWM by using up volume, home and power buttons. Nor can I access download mode using down volume, home and power.
3. Inserting the usb jig does not now load the download mode screen.
4.From off, when I press power, it does not go through usual boot process (nothing showing on screen) but after the soft key lights come on I seem to have booted up and can then use phone as normal.
My settings show Android 4.0.3, Baseband Version i9100BVKJ4, Kernel version i9100XXLP6-CL72050 and Build number lidroid-resurrection remix ics 9.4 black edition by westcrip XXLPH.
Can anyone help me to solve this problem please?

When i connect it with my computer then showing connecting and disconnecting on computer. Also adb command not working. Please help me to save my galaxy.
Flash stock rom from odin..if this not work then go to service center then they will flash your device from dongle ...and then your problem is solved

[Q] Help: BRICK'd. can't boot into anything (recovery, download, etc)

background: rooted and was running 4.1 stock and CWM 10.0 on verizon gs3. i wanted to bump up to jelly bean 4.2 with CWM 10.1.
first i tried using Rom Manager and Rom Toolkit to flash a new rom. from Rom Manager, i rebooted into recovery and got stuck on the CWM boot screen.
After 30 minutes or so i pulled the battery and tried flashing the stock .tar.md5 using Odin and ended up with this:
"System software not authorized by verizon wireless has been found on your phone. Please turn off your phone and go to the nearest verizon wireless store for help."
now i can't boot into download or recovery. i just have this screen with the yellow exclamation point and the above message.
how screwed am i? i've tried reading everywhere and from what i can gather i didn't wipe my cache sufficiently, but all the other threads just say 'use Odin to get back to stock', but i can't get into download mode so i can't use odin.
please help.
You're bootloader wasn't unlocked. Pull the battery then hold power, volume down, and home for fifteen or twenty seconds until it boots into download mode. Odin flash a stock rom then root AND ALSO unlock your bootloader.

Ha, I agree although I think its occurred in decreasing fashion since August. Being "bricked" is used overeagerly by folks not wholly understanding their situation. You really have to try to brick this device before that word can be used correctly.
Your phone has not been bricked. You will know that you have bricked your phone when you can't turn on your phone at all. No download mode and no recovery mode also no pulling of the battery just a dead phone.
ClockworkMod
When you fix your phone, root then unlock the bootloader... You can try RM again but I believe that it is best to use ClockworkMod (or the Touch version) for flashing instead of ROM Manager - old fashion, maybe, but it works!
NOTE: Once you start flashing it becomes addictive - you have been warned
thanks for the comments. my apologies for using the term Brick incorrectly as it seems to really chap the cheeks of some people on this board (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2149210)
no luck with holding down buttons with the battery pulled. i ordered a USB Jig to try and force it back into download mode.

[q] nexus 5 bricked in first 4 days sos

Alright i got 6 hours before tmbobile store opens and i can HOPEFULLY get an exchange, but not banking on it. btw im new to rooting so i wasnt familiar with the process, but regardless i have hard bricked my NEXUS 5. Title says the problem. I followed wwjoshdew's guide to rooting on youtube, and rooted successfully. But i could'nt for the life of me figure out how to create nandroid. I ended up realizing i didnt download cmw recovery mode and downloaded it from the play store. the app took me to a button that said flash recovery and i hit it and my phone asked for permission from unknown source, i hit ok and it shut down, on 70% battery life. Not turning on please help
Try to boot the phone into bootloader mode. Just hold volume down and the power button. From there try to cycle to recovery. You use your volume down to cycle through the options and power but as select. If you can boot into recovery and have that successfully installed then you can erase your phone and try to power it on from there. If you didn't successful install the custom recovery then you'll have the standard Android recovery. You can erase everything from that too.
These phones are hard to brick and not be able to fix it.

You should really read the guides and stickied threads at the top of these forums. The guides are very noob friendly and you wouldn't have bricked your phone. There's one to reset your device to stock as well. There's really no need for this thread and on top of that there is a sticky that says no questions in the General forums.

Determine your phone is actually off. Plug your phone into charge, if a battery sign appears in the middle of the screen then your phone is off.
If your phone is off, hold down the volume down button with the power button to start the bootloader, press volume down twice and press the power button to enter recovery.
If your screen remains black and doesn't show a battery logo, hold the volume up, volume down and power buttons at the same time for a minute, then let go and hold down the power button. Which should hopefully start your phone.

You bricked a Nexus?
Hold down Volume Down, Up, and Power to get into fastboot mode. Restore from Factory Image.
Normally, to root a nexus, I fastboot Team Win Recovery Project.
Anyways what you did simply could not HARD BRICK the phone.

I don't believe the issues you're seeing, appears to be failed emmc, is related to chain fire's auto root. Cf is probably the most popular method to root and it's a coincidence. I've seen these failures with other root methods too.
I think the op flashed a kernel not for his device.

I am not a developer so bear with me. I'm just a guy in mpls with a completely stock N5 from Google Play that encountered similar issue as the original post. There was no damage or water issue, or other problem prior to going dead. It had about 50% battery and maybe 15 minutes after reading an email it was dead when I looked at it again. It just simply turned off while in my pocket. I could not get it to power on or enter bootloader or a recovery screen. After a week of trying to charge via USB and the original wall charger and countless attempts to hold power and volume buttons without success, I decided to pop the back off and disconnected the battery. I put it back together, but that made no difference either. Google play will send me a new phone, but I'd like to get it fired up and extract the last week or so of pics. Any ideas? Again, I am a complete noob and this 3 month old phone has not been modified in any way, other than auto updates from Google play. Thanks for any assistance or guidance.

No, you won't be able to. The memory doesn't mount like a sd card would. For the future use something like drop box or Google drive too backup your photos as you take them.

[Completed] I would like to know what has gone wrong with my rooted Samsung Galaxy j7

Before you read my problem plz note that i am only 16 and i have very little knowledge about anything related to rooting.
I rooted my phone a month ago because i wanted to use Xmod for Clash of Clans. I tried using Kingroot but it didnt work so i installed TWRP using Odin through my pc. After that i flashed SuperSU and the phone got rooted.
I didnt want xmod anymore so i decided to unroot my phone. I wanted to install the stock recovery and i read that i can do this by flashing the recovery.img file using Flashfy. So when i flashed it the app said that i need to reboot my device. So i pressed reboot and the screen went blank. But it didnt reboot. The screen that says Samsung Galaxy J7, which comes whenever i reboot or restart my phone, shows up but doesnt change. It also says "recovery is not seandroid enforcing" on top of the screen. It started coming when i installed TWRP. Nothing happened when i long pressed the power button. So i took out the battery, put it back and did 3 things:
1) Switching it on using the power button,
2) Directly going to recovery, and
3) Putting it for charging without switching it on.
The same screen comes everytime. PLEASE tell me what has gone wrong as soon as possible and if there is a way to fix this. Thanks a lot in advance.
