Hello i'am using android 6.0,and i cannot send messages using a third party app, for example textra or evolve.
The only way that i'am able to send sms is using the stock app.
Can anyone help me?
Go to "default applications" under your settings and make sure that that SMS app youre trying to use is the default SMS sending app and then go to "application manager" and disable the stock SMS app. Reboot and try to send a test text.

Has anyone been able to successfully replace the stock messaging app with gosms and still receive pictures?
Currently I can send them but not receive them. I've been searching high and low searching for every setting I could think of including apn stuff.

So you were able to remove the stock SMS app completely and use Chomp as a replacement to send and receive pictures?
I'm looking for application same in funcionality as Samsung default 'write&send' app.
I don't want to go to SMS application, then select new message, next big editor and from there send SMS.
I need something that will allow me to easy and fast input message in big editor (fullscreen widget would be the best)
and then just insert contact/number and just send without further hassle. Of course sms should be later on visible
in SMS application in sent. I have hardware keyboard on my phone so SMS by voice does not interest me at all.
Do you know such an app ?
Try and use the sammy write and send app

Pretty much title. I am using Textsecure but my wife's phone has issues accepting picture messages through textsecure while it's encrypted so I was going to send pictures via messaging but even adjusting the app ops settings messaging is still saying it's not allowed because it's not the default sms app. Anyway around this?

what device do you own? on my moto x i am able to go to settings, from there go to the "More" option right under data usage and try seeing if there is a option to change the Default SMS app, should be 2nd option. if you need any more help ill be more than happy to help you out!

Thanks, but what I was looking for is a way to send messages with Messaging when it's NOT the Default SMS app. I want all of my texts going in to Textsecure and be able to send pictures with Messaging. But when Messaging isn't the Default SMS app, it doesn't allow you to send messages. Even if I give it permission in App Ops. :\

Nope. You can only use 1 at a time.
How I bought the LTE version and when i try to send sms it shows ME TURN ON SMS ON SETTINGS have someone any advice?
Use handouts? You get set that as your default SMS app then sending SMS is easy.

I use an app called 8sms. Then go to settings and then click more, and make sure 8sms is your default SMS.
First i can send sms using the default app called contacts, but when i try to change my default app from then settings, from Setting> more..> default sms app i choose hangouts or go sms pro but the apps cant succesfully send sms. in order to send sms in my phone, i have to set the default app again to contacts, i can send sms perfectly but its too lag/ unsmooth when typing a message unlike hangouts and go sms pro thats why im eager to change the sms app... from the settings i also tried to clear defaults but nothing change.
i am using alcatel onetouch flash plus, android 4.4 , updated to the latest version. my old smartphone 4.1.2 can send sms using different apps without the need to set it as default app unlike this one that requires to be set as deafult to send sms. do you know how to change my sms app? i am rooted.
