[ROM][RK3188] New ROM (Lollipop) for MTCD based on Joying - MTCD Software Development

Hello guys
We are building a new ROM for MTCD units based on Joying.
We solved a lot of bugs of factory ROM. This is only some of our features:
-Bug into MTCMusic: folder list disappeared without reason. Solved.
-Bug into MTCMusic: some music file do not work or they were very slow to load. Solved.
-Bug into MTCRadio: rds text shows only firs 8 characters. Solved
-Added marquee text on MTCRadio
-Added many other features to MTCMusic
-Added a new screensaver app coded by us. It works with MTCMusic and MTCRadio. It shows some informations of the songs (or radio stations). It can do some operations on the MTCMusic app (or MTCRadio app) like play, pause, next, prev etc (or next/prev station). You can see it on the attached screen.
-Many many other features.
Before to post it here, we want to add root permission so we can add other useful app to our custom rom. Do you know how to get root permission on update.img file? There is a tool to do that?
Thank you

Adding root to a system image is the same as adding any other files to the filesystem.
If you want to do something *really* awesome, look into seSuperUser instead of binary viruses.
All the code is open source; https://github.com/sesuperuser
Look at the super-bootimage repo.
What is the state of selinux on these head units?

Also, what is the state of bluetooth OBD2 capability??

So, must I only edit boot.img partition to root the device?

I am interested in this aswell, i want to run PPPWidget for 3G, but i need sesuperuser to run, but can't get it running..

I've seen those two bug quite a bit, very annoying.
Is there any way you could make your fixed version of MTCMusic and possibly MTCRadio into a separate apk package?

Now the first goal is to obtein root permission on our modded rom, but I think we will release mtcradio and music into a separate apk package.

Any news on this?
I was about to start disassembling the radio apk to fix the radio text but it would be great if you've already done it.

I have zero skills to help out, but thanks for working on this, the more ROM options for the MTCD units the better

My device is not in the list. What should I do to use this tool?
- Just extract any working zip for your device and extract update-binary from zip's META-INF/google/android folder and import that binary in the tool, make a zip and try flashing it to your device. If the ZIP install is successful, then share update-binary by replying to this thread. Your device will get added to supported devices' list.
Can I include application data along with APKs into the flashable zip?
- No, atleast for now. Data restore facility is yet to be added, but it is planned.
I want to go back to recovery from Aroma UI, but there is no back button. What should I do?
- Just don't select any item in Aroma and keep pressing next until you end up in recovery. Don't worry, if you have selected nothing, then nothing will get flashed, chill.

Well...if you ask....here is a list for possible features/changes:
1- Save Project button. (cuz I just try to make an aroma zip for n7100 and the process stop at 90% and I have to force close the program...so I lost all the things I made).
2- If there is a way...maybe you can add themes for aroma.
3- Individual install path for the apps in the same category. (e.g. in launchers category I have googlehome and nova...and I want to install googlehome in system and nova in data...to do that I need to make separate categorys?).
4- If is posible...add a preview for aroma menu. (I know maybe this is to much...but it would be nice to have something like that).
5- The hability to choose what acction come first...e.g. Remove apps first and then install apps...so I can remove all the things I want and then install the apps...(some times I want to delete from system some app...like g+ and install it as regular app...so if I need to delete it I can do it like a normal app).
6- Select custom splash image for aroma.
7- The hability to re arrange and edit names of the categorys and the apps....and for the apps a description for aroma would be great.
I know maybe ask for all of this its to much...and I dont know if some of this are possible to do features.
Thanks for make this program...

Well, first of all many thanks for your suggestions.
And among the features that you suggested, feature number 1, 2, 3, 5, 6 are very much possible and we'll consider adding it to our next release.
For feature no. 4, well, all I can say is that give me some designer and I can do that. First part of 7th point is possible and we'll consider adding it but I can't get what you are trying to convey in the latter part of 7th point. May you describe it a little bit more?

Yes, Planned. It will take time but eventually it will be implemented.
I will share a test zip soon. Confirm if it is working. If it does, device will be in the list.
This is amazing, I was just thinking about a solution to this exact scenario. I can test on note 3 (hltetmo) if needed.

What bug?
Inviato dal mio Desire S
TL;DR - If you want a ROM with a different look to CM and still want a "classic-style" launcher and a good set of built-in apps, this is a great ROM.
Longer story...
I flashed this ROM to my phone this morning and so far I have been very impressed. I don't like the stock Android "Halo" look, so this ROM's appearance is a nice change. I first made a mistake in flashing the wrong GApps package but all was good after I flashed one for the correct Android version - gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip.
In terms of features, it has all that I usually want from Cyanogenmod, plus a few extra features:
Two styles of lockscreen, including lockscreen notifications
Online themes "store"
Online wallpapers "store"
Gestures support, including my favourite - adjusting volume by moving two fingers up or down the screen
Swipe to wake support
Power management app
Data usage monitor app
Launcher is fully-featured, including folders support (both on the home screen and in the apps drawer), uninstalling from the app drawer, a variety of smooth transitions
For built-in apps it has almost everything I want:
music player
notes-taking app
clock (including stopwatch, world clock, timer)
calculator
torch
sound recorded
compass
It has an app named "Backup Restore" in the 'Tools' folder but it FC'd when I tried to launch it. It also features an app named "Cloud service" which supposedly backs up your contacts, SMS etc but I haven't yet tried that.
In using it for only about an hour I have not seen any FCs, except for "Backup restore". I don't like the notification area because it has the shortcuts together with notification messages and no apparent way of changing that. It's a minor point, and perhaps I could find a way through searching Oppo forums.
Hint: If you are looking for some of the native settings you would expect on Cyanogenmod, go into the 'ATX Settings" app and select "Stock Settings". I don't know what "ATX" stands for in this case.
Question - Does anyone know what "MiPop" is? I have doen some searching but can't find an answer.

Assuming you have flashed the ROM, then a GApps package, I believe you see two options, each with an icon. One features an icon that looks like a cog, while the other looks like a black box with some sliders. If I understand correctly, the cog icon is for the native ColorOS setup, which you do *NOT* want to use as it is in Chinese. For a standard CM setup, select the icon which looks like a black box with sliders.

I honestly can't recall just where I download this GApps package. I think what's important here is to be sure you are using a compatible GApps package, which is where I went wrong previously.
I have done some "hacking" of this ROM, removing unwanted APKs and installing an alternate keyboard etc. Not "hacking" in the true sense. I have done this to try and reduce the size of the ROM as it is much larger than CM ROMs. I have not yet found just the right files to remove. In my current installation, everything except gestures works, so I have obviously removed something that should not have been removed.
Please do go ahead and try it out. I would love to hear what you think. Until now I thought I was on my own with this ROM.

Try these
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Google_Apps
I never could get the rom into English without blindly flipping through all settings until I found it.
On top of it, then not all settings were in English, some were still in Chinese.
It looks like a promising rom but until it is completely in English or German for that matter, I wont be trying it. It was too frustrating to work with some Chinese screens.

I'm glad this was addressed. MXPlayer is probably my most used app on the phone and I don't want to upgrade before knowing whether the player will work or not.
Good idea @ktsamy, hopefully this will be sufficient to pre-empt the chaos that happened last year with the KitKat upgrades, and lessen the amount of spam that bleu gets.
In the latest SDK (if you've downloaded all the available parts via the SDK Manager), there is a large amount of sources under sources/android-21/android, including a boatload of classes that are not public interfaces and only for internal use. In the unlikely event the MX Player authors have not taken a look there yet, then please do, and see if what you need is there.

[ROM][RK3188][MTCD] da-anton ROM [beta3]

Hi everyone,
this ROM is based on the latest JY ROM. I built the ROM with the MTCD ROM builder (http://forum.xda-developers.com/and...ns-development/tool-mtcd-rom-builder-t3475444)
It is tweaked for speed! Mainly I removed some apps which seemed unnecessary to ME which are otherwise using RAM. I also optimized the build.prop. Mainly the dalvik/ark and GUI parameters. It boots on my Xtrons GS HU in under 20sec (car logo to launcher) and has roughly 430-450MB free RAM after boot as you can see on the screenshot. The ROM looks stable to me. Give it a try if you like and let me know if you can feel a difference regarding speed and smoothness.
READ:
No warranty if you brick your HU
so far I just tested it with my GS based headunit! So no guaranty that it works on yours
This is my first ROM and I only have one unit which is obviously in my car. So support is limited so don't expect updates
I will not include xposed and I'm not planning to do so
no dmcu.img included. You have to flash that one separate if you want to update your MCU
Design goals:
Stability - stick as much to the stock ROM as possible
Performance - remove whats not necessary and tune the rest
Download:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0BzxkkrRwpR3EMzY5VFpnU2tWOUU?usp=sharing
Installation:
as usual: put dupdate.img on GPS card and flash via system update; wipe before if you are coming over from another ROM
you have to wipe data twice because the partition scheme is changed

Changes:
[beta 3]
enabled boot animation again as disabling caused massive problems (reboots & buttons not working anymore)
reverted busybox update
[beta 2]
fixed problems with memory unify (aka FUSE); a wipe is advised in case of an upgrade
disabled boot animation -> faster boot (NO animation should be displayed!, thanks to shawndak for the hint)
upgraded busybox to latest version
set I/O governor to noop as that one uses less CPU cycles
adjust read-ahead values to new memory size
included AdAway
removed Viper4Android due to busybox problem; I currently don't have time to fix it
removed BasicDreams
removed HoloSpiralWallpaper
removed LiveWallpapers
removed LiveWallpapersPicker
removed PhaseBeam
[beta 1]
ROM build with MTCD ROM builder (http://forum.xda-developers.com/and...ns-development/tool-mtcd-rom-builder-t3475444)

[alpha 2]
added MTCDVD4
added MTCBackView
added Viper4Android
removed PrintSpooler

Nice work! It is just basic stuff needed for the HU yo run great. I already have the latest Joying stock rom and KD MCU and it's working great, I'll try your rom.
Just a question does MTCDVD4 and MTCBackview means we loose DVD playback and reverse camera view?

So far: yes as I don't need them. But I think I will include them in the next release as some of you might use them for sure.

Good job btw. Running it now. But I installed mtcmovie4 because I use music videos sometimes
the better thing for complete a rom is the mtcmusic with next folder.
thanks for your great work

Exchange2.apk
Gmail2.apk
GoogleEmail.apk
MTCBackView.apk

Anyone want to create a github project and work on a build together? Setup some makefiles or some scripts to do some automation, make it repeatable, and provide some options that you could chose from maybe during the build.

I definitely like that idea! Here we go: https://github.com/da-anton/MTCD_ROM-cooking
But I'm not very good in programming. So my stuff maybe rather basic
Greeeat idea !!! I'll try to help as much as I can.....
Excellent work
Mtcmovie4 installed. No movies showing up. Strange.
EDIT: Not your fault! i messed up and used wrong version of MTCMOVIE, =) now it works
to separate MTCD ROM modding from my ROM I created a separate topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/and...ns-development/tool-mtcd-rom-builder-t3475444

Just a suggestion - can you install the xposed framework? It's available here (first link) and I can confirm that it works beautifully with JY 1.90:

What is exposed used for in the HU?
What does viper do? And does it work?

Xposed has a bunch of modules that plug into it - stuff that is super low level. The two items I use it for are AppSettings to change the DPI on individual apps. (like making the banners in google maps smaller, and the map area bigger) and something called MinMinGuard that nukes advertisement areas in other apps. There are literally hundreds of things that you can do with it.
Viper is a fancy EQ. I dont use it as the built in one is sufficient.

As I wrote in the OP: definitly not! To be honest: xposed is a pain in the ass! It can do pretty cool stuff but there are so many things that often go wrong and most ROM builders just don't include it because it makes so much trouble. I personally prefer stability over features.

[APP] - [TOOLS] - [4.3+] WiFi Password Viewer (V1.3) => Root, no ads and for free!

►►WiFi Password Viewer (Root, free and no ads)◄◄
►Introduction◄
First I was looking for a wifi password tool that I can check my WiFi passwords even before I did a full wipe.
Then I was pissed of from all the ads and apps that don't support Oreo (I like Oreo, because 100g Nougat is more expensive than 100g Oreo ).
Last but not least I decided to write a complete free ($$$ / ads) wifi password viewer and share it with you.
►How it works◄
File location Oreo: /data/misc/wifi/WifiConfigStore.xml
File location < Oreo: /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf
WiFi Passwords Viewer is looking for the WiFi Config file in your system.
This file will be copied and read to / from your internal memory.
When your device has read that file it will be deleted immediately and the wifi information are displayed in the apps listview.
There is no internet permission needed for your security (you can share the wifi informations by mail, whatsapp or whatever with the share button)
►Anything else?◄

Thanks for your message.
Then everything is fine
Hi there! Great initiative, thanks for the hard work.
I was looking for the same thing and if not found I was about to do it myself. Do you need an extra hand? Are you planing to release the source code?
Hi there again! I found another one and it's open source.
It's called WiFiKeyShare and it's available in Google Play Store, F-Droid and the code it's in GitHub. You could try to merge both proyects.

Good morning
I am not planning to release the sourcecode.
You can easily extract the code from the .apk file and modify it if you want to.
Best regards
