Okay so yesterday after a fee hours of struggle I finallymanaged to root my xperia J but after *#*#7373823#*#*# it said my bootloader can not be unlocked and this is a massive problem for me because the only reason I rooted was for Custom Roms so can anybody tell me whether or not its still possible to unlock the bootloader and if so how?
Thanks in advance

I'm on a locked bootloader using a stock prerooted rom,but have unrooted using super su,should I repair to go back to stock as I want to send my device to Sony for repair or will it be ok as I have unrooted the device, any feedback would be highly appreciated, thanks

Another thread? Yes it is fine to send away. If you are that worried, flash a ftf before you send it in. Same advice you've gotten elsewhere. I once sent in my Z1 with UB and ihackers rom and custom kernel and they still fixed it.
May have a buyer for spares or repairs on it so I'll buy a new one

Thinking about getting a Z5 Compact -are the root instructions and software identical to the non-compact version?
Root instructions yes
Software likely
Firmwarr - definate no

So what does that mean in English? What differences will I experience? I want to root my Z5 Compact with the latest OS - haven't found a tutorial.

If you flash a Z5 firmware to your z5 compact it will be bricked
Since the devices are similar root methods are the same
Certain tools/software im not sure truly if they look for spesific things but if you are going to try something including a kernel then use fastboot boot before fastboot flash
Also you cant root without a unlocked bootloader

Is there a z5 compact firmware I need? I'm not keen on all the terminology. I rooted my 2013 moto x just fine, but I don't want to mess this up.

I think I found what I was looking for: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z5-compact/general/root-e5823-marshmallow-t3336346
I have been looking around and can't seem to find the stock recovery for my Z5 E6653. Anyone know how to get the stock recovery back. Wanna do this to get Sony's Android N update.
Thanks!

Simply flash the stock ftf file back from sony flashtool, you should get everything stock in my opinion
