GPS not locking on satellites - General Questions and Answers

Hello everyone.
Im using an LG Optimus LTE2. My mobile's gps is not working correctly. Earlier it used to lock on at least 6 to 7 satellited but it has stopped locking on satellites now.
In my home i get no signal from satellites but on my roof i do get signals but it still doesnt locks. Can someone please suggest a solution. I have cleared and downloaded AGPS data again and again and i have all options checked in location settings yet it doesnt work.
Any help will be highly appreciated.
I have attached the reading of gps locker in my house and on my roof and i have also attached my gps.conf file (in a zip).

Where did you find the .config file

GPS on AT&T Fuze with ROGERS?

Hey ive unlocked and flashed to a sweet NRG rom and love it. I just want to use google Maps (or something similar) to find my position on a map (turn by turn maybe?). I remember with my iPhone when I first had it the GPS worked great then one day I was never able to get my actual position (just within a certain amount of meters).
Did rogers shut down GPS?
Now on my new phone when I goto "GPS location" in google maps it searches for a satellite but doesnt seem to get my position (0)... Is there a setting I can turn on to allow GPS or do I need to cal rogers and rip on someone? LOL
keep up the great work guys!!!

GPS on the HTC is using the basic GPS Signal coming from satellites. Are u outside or near a window to a fix ?
Look http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_Positioning_System
What u used was A-GPS what is assisted GPS with help from Cell Phone provider. It gives faster fix and a pseude gps in buildings.
Go outside with ur cellphone with clear sky view, start the htc gps tool and u should get position fix within some minutes or even seconds. There is no need for 3g because the gps itself does not need any cellphone connection. It takes satellite signals to calculate the position.
When u update quick gps it is faster in the position fix because it already knows some basic sat data. But still no phone connection necessary for using GPS.
The google map u then only see with data (3g or wlan) not because of the GPS but because of the drawed map graphics wich have to be loaded.
ok i will try the outside thing although I have the phone pointed to the window pretty much. Checking rogers website both phones only have a-GPS but I still cant get an actual location on either. Only about a 4 block square or circle.
EDIT: ok i enabled A-GPS on the touch pro and still no luck with google maps. It still seems to be looking for actual GPS
OK im managed to get it working. I changed the port to com5 and scanned found some sat's I had to change the bit thing to 56700 on com5 within google maps. Seems to be working like a charm!

[Q] Does China Phone Hero H7000 has GPS?

Hi there!
I just bought China Phone Hero H7000 about two months ago, and I tried everything to make GPS work. But I got no success so far.
I googled all arround the internet, and I can't get much information about GPS on this phone, or people who actually bought this phone and tried to use GPS.
I bought my phone on dealextreme. You can google for it and search for h7000 if you want to see the specs.
As I said, I tried everything to make GPS work, but it seems that only A-GPS works, and for that I need to be using a data connection such as Wifi.
I used a lot of application from Android market, for testing GPS function, and to fix GPS satellites position, to fix gps.conf, and file permissions. My phone is rooted.
Also tried some other ROMS for this phone, and I always got the same issue. GPS doesn't work without A-GPS turned on, and using a data connection.
With some applications from android market I can update satellites position, and I can see about 13 satellites, but I just can't connect to any of them.
Tried to connect with full view of the sky, and I live on the country side, so buildings and clouds and other stuff shouldn't be a problem. I tried it for hours, outside and I can't connect to any satellite. I'm from Portugal, and I already used the gps.conf settings for Europe, and also for Portugal. But no luck...
If I'm using A-GPS I can see my location on the map, but I can't get any coordinates. WIthout A-GPS nothing works at all.
I tried google maps, nDrive, Navigon and some other free and paid GPS softwares for Android. All of them (appart from google maps) just show "waiting for location" or "searching for GPS", even using A-GPS and a data connection.
I don't know anymore what I can try to make it work... Any ideas?
Does anyone bought this phone? Anyone with the same problem?
Does this phone has GPS? Or does it have A-GPS only?
Sorry for the huge post. Can someone help?
Thanks in advance.
Any guesses?

hope it works on your DS
sorry gor my english. :silly:
Nope.... the problem is it can't find any satellites....
And i want offline gps works. not online AGPS.
tried this one twice but still my gps can't find any satellites
I am in the same situation. My GPS used to work and then it stopped. I can't even remember what I flashed or whether it stopped straight after rooting.
I've tried a whole lot of different ROMs (JB/ICS/GB, AOSP/Sense) so its not a ROM issue. I've used the AGPS patch and all those other GPS apps that are supposed to diagnose and fix the GPS, non have worked. I have eventually put it down to a hardware fault and conceded that my GPS will not work.
I'm not wondering about flashing another radio. Will that make any difference ?
No, radio has nothing to do with GPS. If it's faulty - it might just be a disconnected antenna.
Enable data
I know its not the perfect solution but by enabling mobile data and the GPS you do get a precise fix on your location and it barely drains your allowance.
Mobile data doesn't affect GPS. All it does - it enables downloading almanac and ephemeris (satellite path charts, that tell the GPS where to look and for which satellites) instantly from the dedicated internet servers, and it also allows more precise clock synchronization - all that to make the lock faster. It doesn't help maintaining the lock.
And even without mobile data, at least 1-2 satellites should be visible almost immediately.

Is my GPS failing?

Hello,
My moto g 2015 GPS has started playing up.
It used to work fine in the car, now it takes up to 2 minutes to get a fix. Then keeps losing it, the marker will be static and then go floating off over a field.
Seems to work OK outdoors.
I've downloaded GPS test, which shows it will only lock on to 4 satellites when on the dashboard of the car. It will get 11 out in the open.
I've reformatted, to no avail. I've enabled high battery use mode in location.
My last resort will be to try to uninstall twrp, remove root. And try to restore to stock. Then return it to the shop and hope the don't know it's been unlocked.
I know I'm bound to get better reception outdoors than in the car, but as I say last week it worked perfectly.
I'm all out of ideas.
I'm back
Just did a side by side with my original moto g.
The old phone locked on in 3 seconds. And was showing accuracy of 10feet in the app 'gps test'.
The 2015 locked on in 37 seconds then dropped out. With accuracy of 100+feet.
I'm starting to think it's a lollipop thing. Perhaps high accuracy isn't strong enough.? Or there is something in the APN, I tried setting the type to default supl apps as I saw this somewhere but this didn't work either?
Today I reverted to stock, perhaps I should try a different rom?
Is anyone willing to have a look and see how quickly they get locked?
Just so I know whether my phone Is normal or has a fault.
Thanks
I haven't had a chance to test in the car but in the center of the room inside I got a 3D lock in 2 seconds with 13 feet accuracy. At least some of your GPS features are controlled in the gps.conf file located in system/etc. This will be where some of your NTP server settings are located.

Ok Thanks,
After much messing about, here is what I've established..
The high accuracy setting isn't having any effect. The accuracy, and lock times are the same whether connected to WI-FI, Mobile Data, or with them switched off and the phone set to device only.
Could this be something to do with the NTP server settings you mentioned?
There are a number of free "GPS fix" apps available on Play. You could try one of them. I would make a copy of the file I mentioned to be on the safe side though.
