I'm using the Blu R1 HD released on Amazon this prime day .
I'm using Foxfi/PDA+ to tether, and no matter what, most sites other than google and facebook are blocked or not serving on Google Chrome on Mac.
Safari is the only workaround where everything is serving just fine.
Anyone know how I can bypass what's blocking Chrome from serving pages through tethering on this phone?
Carrier is SimpleMobile which is a network using Tmobile as the backbone.
Perhaps its not a phone issue, but a carrier issue thats blocking Chrome. Anyone have any advice on how to get Chrome to serve the pages?
Thanks a million!
use a user agent switcher there is quite a few available in the chrome extension store
set it to a mobile browser or safari

Well, I have problem using internet browsers. Every applications in my phone connects to internet very well but internet browsers are unable to connect;I tried using many web browser including Opera,UC browser,Dolphin browser and default android web browser but with no real luck. I am unable to figure out exactly what might be causing the problem but my recent applications updates could have triggered the problem, not sure though. Any other applications accessing internet connects everytime very well but only the internet browser doesn't connect,it just everytime gives a page saying "web page not available"
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Phone model: Samsung GT-I9003

Ya,my phone has only one access point which all applications uses including the web browsers.
easytether, pdanet, wifi tether for root, native tethering
none of them work. they take you to a page asking you to pay $20 per 1GB.
anyone else having similar issue?
EDIT: after further testing, the block seems to be browser based. I was able to play RIFT via tether. My guess is they are blocking via user-agent string in browser (edit #2: confirmed!)?
confirmed
You're right. If you use a user agent switcher add-on/extension with Firefox or Chrome, it'll look like you're on a Android device or Iphone.
I am using FireFox and I downloaded Super User Agent from the addons! What it does is it shows up as a mobile browser instead of a PC browser! They are blocking all PC browser from using their service to tether! After downloading it you can select what you want it to show up as, like Android, iPhone, Opera Mobile and even FireFox! I am using the Firefox 10 option that they have not blocked yet! But I am really still using Firefox 12! Hope this helps you and please spread the word to other C Spire users having this problem!
But now, with the User Agent switch, I can't watch Netflix while tethered. Anyone got that one figured out?
It might be due to the 30 minute video pass per month that they just started.
Nah, the reason that I can't get Netflix to work like that is because the site thinks I'm using a phone and is asking me to add the android or iphone app.
Fixmo Extend
Hi I just signed up here to let you know so far the only tethering app that works that I know of is Fixmo Extend. CSpire has went down hill with this move
PDAnet has an option to hide tethering information and that seems to work for now.
I just installed FoxFi and the FoxFi addon which lets you enable a proxy server on port 8000. It works perfect.
Foxfi nolonger works are there any other apps

FoxFi works fine if you're not on jelly bean and you have not updated to the newest version (where they automatically downgraded their free version to a poor trial).
I'm on gingerbread and my version of foxfi won't start hotspot unless you upgrade.

You can also go into a browsers dev tools and change the user agent to Safari/Firefox 4 or lower/Internet Explorer 6/iOS/Android. Ive gotten this to work with the 4.1 native hot spot on my Galaxy S using Google Chrome and Internet Explorer 9. Also i think it was mentioned but a User agent switcher extention works fine. Right now i use Safari 5 as it gives me a desktop experience. Dev tools are also nice in case you are on another machine and cant download an extension to a browser.
I'm pretty new to the world of Android and was wondering what are some "best"/"good" apps to hide your identity online? I've looked at the Google Play Store for Tor related apps but unsure if they're actually secure and reliable? What do you guys use for security/anonymity?
I use Spotflux and Hotspot Shield and I find that both are pretty good.
Have you ever tried disconnect me? Or just activate private mode in Firefox
There are two main Tor apps on the play store: Orbot and Orxy. Both have their own advantages and disadvantages. I've used both, and both work well.

Private mode in Firefox does not make you anonymous.
Using normal VPNs doesn't make you anonymous either. The VPN provider has all your details.
Remember, just using Tor will not make you fully anonymous. The torproject.org website has details, and the Orxy app store page has some tips.

IS it really that easy to steal ID from your phone?
The OP wants to browse the web anonymously and such services are helpful for that.
Its not to prevent your ID from getting 'stolen' but more to make sure you are not being tracked, access sites that may be blocked on your corporate network or country, etc. Ofcourse there are countless other uses as well.
Ill give you one small example - if you want to access a job portal from your work computer without being worried your company can see you are looking for a new job, you can use a VPN to sort of 'mask' the internet traffic.
Or if you live in a country where YouTube is blocked and you want to access it...
Hi all
Can anyone recommend me a light and good browser that can force google safe search, block porn sites etc.
Right now I am using DNS pro to force family shields and firefox for it's addons(but I want a less heavy browser)
I am rooted and using tesla ROM on redmi 2.
P.S. I am aware that I can just not go to said sites but I really do have problem with porn and I am doing my best to stop, so no need to tell me "don't go there". My will power is not strong enough

You can use an adblocker or you can manually modify your android hosts file to block those sites/servers but you'll have to enter the sites/servers you want to block. It's not as simple as just installing a browser or an app.

if you are under wifi use open dns with a free account and put the open dns servers to your router.it will filter all the family traffic

I prefer Chrome (stable) for S8+ in-hand, but Samsung Browser is way, way better for DeX.

whats DeX?
Im using chrome as well - all the passwords etc are somehow synced to the phone. I dont have to do much.
I tried Samsung browser and what i liked was the bar on the buttons = bookmarks. Ease of access but still chose chrome over it.

I got mine at Amazon for less than one-hundred--well worth it! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XR9M1ZP
DeX is basically a docking station for S8/S8+ that turns your phone into a desktop computer. There are some decent reviews of it on YouTube. I use mine on my 4K UHDTV almost every day.

My viewpoint is....
Do you trust Google (overall personal info, browsing, etc)
You have to trust "someone" with this info.
I do, so i try and stick to most of Google apps
(Chrome, Google Assistant etc) where possible.
I prefer Chrome,( alternatively also use Firefox.)
For me, the web browsing History , bookmarking, smart login etc in Chrome suits me.
I can browse/bookmark, on my laptop
and later i can refer back with ease, on my device. (vice versa)
I know other web browsers can also sync, but for me Chrome is so much easier.

Chrome does not have Ad Blocker, no dark theme.
so i use samsung Internet Beta with Ad blocker and dark mode.
The Samsung Internet Browser (even the stock app) can natively use up to 2 ad-block extensions at the same time, no root needed.
These extensions are available just on the Google Play store, for example AdBlockPlus:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.adblockplus.adblockplussbrowser
IMHO today it's not possible to browse the Internet without an ad-block filter... and Google clearly doesn't like it to be available in Chrome...

Adhell is the solution for ads. It blocks them all, even in apps. The best part is when it's running you don't even know it's there.
The top two, are Samsung Internet Beta and Chrome respectively at this moment for me. I find myself using Samsung Internet though, it just feels more fluid to me.

Unfortunately original Adhell has been banned and no longer works, there is currently an Adhell 2 version that however requires you to register with Samsung as a developer to receive a developer license for using Knox, it's a bit complicated to install and to make it work, and moreover Samsung repeatedly tries to block it.

DNS66 No issues with ads on my device.
I use Chrome canary

I registered that developer account when I first got my S8+ and it was very easy. I've tried every Ad blocker there is and AdHell (now Adhell 2)works the best out of all of them.
Is there anyway to copy bookmarks from Samsung browser to their beta browser?
I really like FireFox Focus.
