[Completed] GPS Problem - XDA Assist

Hello people,
I'm encountering some problems regarding my gps, it doesn't move as I move, it drifts away and jumps around as far as 1 mile from where I actually am.
It's worthwhile mentioning that my tablet doesn't have an orientation sensor nor a magnetic sensor, is that a problem? I'm trying to play augmented reality games (Ingress to be specific)
I've my location settings set to high accuracy
Any suggestions to overcome this issue?

[Q] Difference - Gyro Sensor & G-Sensor

Hi,
Is there any difference between G-Sensor and Gyro Sensor?
HTC Sensation specifications states both sensors
Sensors
Gyro sensor
G-Sensor
Digital compass
Proximity sensor
Ambient light sensor
There is, but it's kinda subtle.
A G-sensor (accelerometer) can measure the change in acceleration of the device towards a direction. If you move the handset with a constant speed (no acceleration) then it shouldn't pick any signal. However, when moving their hand people change the speed slightly so an accelerometer picks that, but it will look sluggish.
A gyroscope can measure orientation, rotation and speed, so it can complement data collected from the accelerometer to smoothen out the reading of movement a great deal.
It's not the most important thing ever, but it's definitely a plus. Apps that use gyroscopes (mostly games and augmented reality apps) behave way more smoothly with it.
To put it more simply: The G-sensor measures the movement of the device. (By measuring acceleration). The gyro measures the tilt. They can work together to get more precise measurments of both.
Thanks for the explanations Guys...

[Q] What's the use of GYRO when we have Accelerometer and Compass?

My phone already has ACCELEROMETER and COMPASS. Why would I need GYROSCOPE? Can somebody give me example of practical applications that use Gyro sensor that the other two cant handle?
thanx
good question. Gyro is an extension to the accelerometer. It help you move with the devise in the same time. I see it being used on google street view (when u turn left/right the map is turning too) and in some shooting games.
Turn left right? Isnt that covered by the compass?
Bump!
Plus about the Atrix 4G...
Accelerometer, still no games utilises 6dof, if there is, not practical (like walking while holding the phone)
I guess the gyroscope mainly assists the GPS info + Compass...
Take it as like this:
Gyroscope assists Compass in rotation speed ( so u get real time)
Gyroscope assists accelerometer in pre-calibration proccess... (+ shaking games)
So I still argue with games like Asphalt 6 not working with accelerometers...
Both Gyroscope and Accelerometer are Fused, or Fusion proccess (combing the raw data map) so it will be enough real time...
Though 6DOF experience using a gyro is too useless for its accuracy... It comes hand when you buy a 400+ bux gyroscope Like headtracking systems...

annoying exercise tracking

Hi,
Annoyingly my S2 classic thinks I'm riding a bicycle whenever I'm riding my motorcycle? Which is annoying because S-health then reckons I've burnt loads of calories. I'm just wondering why this is as surely if it works on speed it should figure that I'm actually in/on a motorized vehicle especially from like 40 mph upwards? My only other explanation is that it uses the gyroscope and/or accelerometer to figure out that I'm holding on to handle bars?
Also is there anyway to change this so I can tell S-health that I wasn't riding a bicycle?
I have the same problem. Is there even a way to delete the data?

GPS accuracy improvements?

Does anyone else have issues with the GPS accuracy? When looking at the map on activities, it seems pretty close. The total distance it records is way off. Over 25%. At the third lap around the track it's saying I hit a mile... If I look at the map, it shows me on the track for each lap. Don't get it. Any recommendations?
Same issue here. I'm constantly seeing 33%-40% less total distance when running short laps (~400m). Have returned my watch.
I used my watch >10x without any issue.
To all who believe having problems or concerns, please keep in mind the gps accuracy is limited by its technology. Every device calculates, averages and interpolates a bit different. And even after a gps fix it may need some time ...seconds,minutes... to find more satellites until max accuracy has been reached.
In general i would not expect a very precise value at short distances like 400m ...
the problem nice spoken / beautifully spoken
without any solution
It seems to me that, because of a low GPS refresh rate, it goes wrong when you make a turn. Instead of recording a distance of A+B, it records sqrt(A^2+B^2). Makes me feel less good about myself after running
At least, this happens when I let Google Fit record my running session. It might be that GPS refresh rates are determined by hardware, in which case using another application will not improve this. If it is determined by software, other running applications may work better. Anyone any experience?

Harry Potter Wizads Unite OnePlus 7 Pro GPS issue

Hello all.
first of all I would like to make sure is this problem is only on my device. What kind of problem? My character is not accurately following my movements. When I walk slowly it is almost ok but sometimes it is auto rotating in wrong direction as I was walking from side point of view. When I am in the buss it is going totally crazy. When bus speeds up screen stops moving as I was standing and sometimes refreshes in different place than I am at the moment. GPS status app shows no problem with connection to satellites and car navigation on google maps works very well. One thing that I have noticed is that when I left the bus and started Google Maps it pointed bad my localisation(200 - 300 meters away from my real position)
I have turned on localisation and all rights are given to both Harry an GMaps. Wifi scanning in localisation menu is also turned on.
Any ideas?
It seemed to be tracking me okay, but when I get to the point where it uses the camera it crashes.
Are you on the 9.5.8 update? I don't play that game, but have been seeing some odd GPS activity in Strava and Google Maps since I took the last update.
I have the same problem with Harry Potter but it seems to work well with Pokémon. Maybe the problem is from the game ?
