I used the TWRP app which downloaded and flashed the correct version for me automatically.
The app is however slightly confusing to use!
You need to click on the + icon to get at the options.

[Q] Upgrade to 4.3.3 problem with recovery twrp

Hi!
I've a big problem...
My nexus 5 configuration: TWRP recovery - Root privileges - Android 4.2.2
The smartphone notified me the availability of Android 4.3.3. I accepted and the package has been downloaded. The phone has rebooted, but there was no trace of the installation. The phone is divided into TWRP recovery.
I rebooted the system from recovery. The system is still Android 4.2.2 and tells me that the system is updated. In fact he says "last update check xx.xx" (where xx.xx is the hour).
Do you have suggestions on how to proceed?
You're my only hope!!
Thank you,
xSliv3r
you have to manually select the ota file to install with twrp. its in /cache i think, but im not 100% sure of that location

[Q] TWRP shows 0 MB Internal storage, cannot mount Data

My Nexus 5 is running Cyanogenmod 11 and seems to be working just fine. However, when I get a prompt to install a Cyanogenmod update, the phone reboots to recovery, attempts to install the update, and fails. I have found that this seems to be caused TWRP showing 0 MB internal storage and not being able to mount Data. Again, the phone works fine except for this weirdness.
I should also add that it does strange things after I reboot from recovery. First, the Phone app continually stopped, then was fine a while after. Then Google Play Services was constantly crashing, so I uninstalled the updates and it started working. And finally, Cyanogenmod gave the initial setup screen the last time I rebooted from recovery, though it only went through language and time zone.
As a final note, I don't really know a whole lot about Android in terms of the more advanced things, so try to keep any suggestions relatively noob friendly. Thanks.
Please can you open the zip you're flashing and get the updater-script from meta-inf/com/Google/android, rename to a .txt file and upload here?
I think cm updates are using wrong /sdcard location.

That looks fine actually...
What's the actual error message you get? Are there any logs in /cache/recovery?

Here's a log.
Should also mention that, since posting this thread, the details of the issue seem to have changed. TWRP now shows the proper amount of space rather than 0MB and is able to mount all partitions. At this point, installing the update just fails for some reason.

Not sure what to do with that. Terminal editor? TWRP?

I got the same error in my Samsung Galaxy S3. Either TWRP 2.8.1.0 or 2.6.3.1 didn't work. It may be some securities don't allow to read storage.
I got my phone rooted by towelroot and install TWRP using Flashify.
same problem
I have j710F with stock android 6.0.1,I flashed twrp two but when i booted into recovery I was facing the problem of 0 mb internal storage so I formatted the data and the problem was fixed but when I rebooted my phone into system and made the whole setup again and after that I again booted into recovery the problem was again the same so i again repeated the whole process and the result is same....
I wamt to flash a custom rom but couldn't due to this problem can anybody help me?

[Completed] i fixed error 7 in twrp but now it shows error 4

I just fixed the error 7 on twrp and now its showing error 4.
i am on one plus on with no roms installed and using latest verston of twrp for one plus one
Hello & welcome to xda-assist,
Have you tried to format the partitions (from ext4 to ext4) before attempting to flash a rom and gapps? But careful with data as you might delete your internal storage too, so backup important stuff!
This helped me once with those twrp error messages, next is to make a 100% sure you're on the latest twrp...

Yes, I backed up on MIUI and restored from Pixel Experience while I was encrypted. Even though most apps and data were restored properly, it failed with a few apps (I don't remember their names).
Mine says nothing to restore after flash. Anyone with a fix?

[Help] Error 255 when doing backup

Hello XDA,
I need help. I read online that this problem can be solved by doing "pm remove-user 999". I already did, rebooted, i don't have parallel apps, but i still get Error 255 and can't do a backup. Does anyone know how to solve this issue?
I want to do OTA update, but i would like to backup first. Any other way to backup the whole phone?
Will error 255 prevent me fromdoing the update later on?
what version of TWRP are you using?

You think that could solve the backup problem? Should i install it as the guide says over Official TWRP?

I am able to do a backup and restore with it, no issues. You can install over Offiical TWRP.
one of 3 methods
1. Download the Installer zip and boot to TWRP and flash the Installer, Reboot to recovery.
2. Download the IMG and flash via fastboot
Code:
fastboot flash boot nameoffile.img
3. Download img file and boot to TWRP
Advanced > Install Recovery Ramdisk > click on twrp img file

If you read my solution at this link:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/how-to/255-error-twrp-backup-restore-999-t3801632
Make sure that you go back into your device using a Root browser. Search for any residual folders that are listed in the link above. If you find any of those folders delete them. If you find any folders marked 999 delete those as well. Reboot your phone and check again

I have a 999 folder in
/proc/irq/
/sys /kernel/irq/
Then a 9999 folder in
/proc/uid/
And a user_999 folder in
/data/misc/keystore/
Should i delete this too? All of them? Some?
