A relative of mine who uses Galaxy J7 2016 reported the following issue:
They were talking on the phone. A second call arrived. A banner informing about the incoming call appeared. It featured only the caller's number and not the caller's name, although the number belongs to the address book. After the call has ended, they open the phone app, and there the caller was properly identified and displayed within the app.
How can we enable identification of callers when a call is waiting?

Hi,
I have 2 numbers on my phone, one is my work number and the other is my private number. Incoming calls that are received through my private number appear with a prefix of '888'. I'm looking for a tool which would allow me to use a different ringtone for all incoming calls from numbers starting in '888' so I can distinguish between private and work calls (and mentally prepare myself accordingly - ie, stay in bed when a work call is received )
Is there such a program available?
Cheers
I got the KT TECH TAKE LTE KM-E100 korean android phone
however, there are some some bugs:
P1. unable to send SMS over 130 chars
P2. incorrect font of unicode message when send to another devices
P3. doesn't show the name of caller in the contact book while phone ringing
For the P3, it seems E100 doesn't smart search in the contact book. To make a caller name show while the incoming caller, the phone number of the caller must be have number only, without any space, plus (+), hyphen (-) ...
when we add new / sync contact, we must manually make the phone number with the above rules.
does any one have experience about these problem? Please share
thank you very much
hi all,
I've been getting a lot of telemarketing calls. Unfortunately it's hard to block them all since they spoof the # they are calling from. But a big chunk of them have no number at all, they just show up as unknown.
So i went into settings, call, call reject,
I set call reject mode to 'reject calls on list' and in the rejection list i checked the option to reject all private numbers. That doesn't seem to have helped though since i just got another call from 'unknown'.
There are no numbers in the rejected number list. I've actually just been adding the spam numbers to a 'blocked' contact i created and selected the option to send all calls from that contact to voicemail.
Is there something else i have to do to block unknown callers?
This is on an LG-LS970 running stock rom android 4.1.2
All incoming calls from people not in the contact list show caller ID name as "Restricted", despite the phone number being available. Sometimes the incoming number is displayed, sometimes it's not, depending on where the incoming call is shown. The number is always available in call history, and the caller's location is displayed. This is a huge headache, since some of us don't care for answering blocked callers.
This is not a carrier issue, but a glitch in the way the phone interprets the caller ID information.
Has anyone come up with a workaround or fix yet?
Same issue here. Quite frustrating.

I thought it was related to me having the google dialer framework installed.
Now I know I'm not alone. Yeah, pain in the butt.

Wondering if any developers here can confirm the following:
I know the native Phone app and other Call apps have the ability to allow you to block numbers in which case the call doesn't ring through.
I thought like a couple years ago I read that's not the case with SMS apps. They can 'hide' the number from your SMS messages list but you'll still get the notification at the time the SMS is received. Is this true for all SMS apps for Android 11 or later or can they actually prevent notifications of received messages from numbers you block?
My second question is, on virtually all Phone / Call apps, you'll see the Caller ID Name for incoming calls (where the name isn't blocked, or the number isn't in your Contact list). I get semi-frequent scam/sales calls and they are all from numbers that no person or company name comes up, only the phone number. Since the Caller ID name is displayed when there is one, I would assume the Android Call apps have access to this data value.
Yet, all call blocking features I've seen in all apps I've tried, only have the ability to manually block the number, or, enable a setting to block all calls from numbers not in your Contact list. I'm just flabbergasted that none of these apps also have the option to "Block all calls with no Caller ID Name that are not in your contact list." If the Caller ID Name value comes across as the phone number itself, the app can easily see that it matches or that there are no letters in the Caller ID Name and block it. The only reason I can think of that this type of blocking feature isn't available in a single call app is that for some reason the Caller ID Name is displayed by the system, not the app, and the app doesn't have the ability to read the Caller ID Name Value? I would be really surprised if that were the case as it doesn't make sense that the app displays it but can't perform any feature based on the Caller ID Name value???
