Play Store Not Allowing Install of Andriod 5.1 apps on CM 12.1 - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Totally new to the moding community, but using some awesome guides I found I managed to successfully flash CM12.1 to my s3. To be honest, my main motivation was to get my OS up to a level so I could download Pokemon Go. However, the play store doesn't seem to be recognizing that I'm running 5.1.1 I've double checked and I am running lollipop. Is there something I'm missing? The whole reason I got in to modding was because of Go, so any help you can give would be really appreciated!

[Q] CM11 installation without root?

Hi folks,
Some months ago I was finding my TF700 to be little more use than a place mat so installed CM10.2. I did this as guided by following the official Cyanogenmod installation guide. This left me with an unlocked and rooted TF700 installed with CWM and CM10.2 Stable. Since then I've updated to CM11 nightlies and been pretty much as happy as a pig in s$%t, but recently I've been realising the few limitations that are imposed on my rooted device by certain app developers - namely my bank and Sky.
I've tried every method I dare short of returning my TF700 to stock (and watching it quickly become a place mat again) to get my internet banking apps and Sky Go Tablet working on it but nothing has worked.
There is obviously no bullet-proof way of fully unrooting to get these apps working without loosing CM11. Was/Is there a way of installing CM11 on the TF700 without needing to have rooted it?
Is Cyanogenmod working on a way for simpleton users like me to properly unroot their devices once CM is installed or installing CM without needing to root?
A point I made on the CM forum is that the Cyanogenmod team have talked about CM becoming a genuine option as an alternative Android OS. However, until CM can be installed without root access or with root access being either completely rescinded or 100% hidden from such apps it will remain an 'enthusiast-only' OS as most 'normal' users won't see the benefit of loosing this functionality in favour of running CM. I'm an 'enthusiastic user' and even I am left questioning it.
It seems my holy grail would be a TF700/TF701 Google Play Edition.

Rooting is not the issue. PM me and I can help get sky-go working
I want to know the EXACT same thing as Sky Go is the only app I use that doesn't work on a rooted phone so I run stock (which actually suits me fine but I like to have the option to go custom)
There doesn't seem to be a solution. Though sdbags did what he could, he couldn't make my Sky Go or banking apps work on CM.
IMHO, CM remains a "nerds only" plaything. Ready for mainstream it is not.

It does seem Sky wrote the Sky Go app at a kernel level so it does deep checks for root access. Funny how BT Sport don't give a crap about root!
There is a CM11 build coming on the OnePlus One which doesn't have root out the box (CM11S) so it'll be interesting whether this comes to other devices or not...

Stock Android is definitely a better ad and content delivery platform. Users who have control over their own device are not welcome in this picture.

So that means that the app itself needs root access?

This is from the Xposed module 'RootCloak' (http://repo.xposed.info/module/com.devadvance.rootcloak) listing apps that don't work with it...
App: Sky Go - BSkyB - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bskyb.skygo
Method: Most likely detects root via native library (built with Android NDK). Unsure of exact method, but the Java portion of the app contains "VGDRM_STATUS_DEVICE_IS_ROOTED = -41942891", and based on the library name, it's a safe bet.
Relevant Files: libvgc.so
Maybe not kernel level, but enough for the app to not work but could one day provide a hint on what to look at...

[Completed] Sprint Galaxy S4 - Lost Usage of Stock and 3rd Party Equalizers

Hello, new member to the forum here. I've just been through an ordeal trying to get Viper4Android working on my Sprint Galaxy S4 SPH-L720 running stock Lollipop 5.0.1. I've finally given up on V4A (enforcing kernel). Anyway, my problem is that somewhere during the course of trying to get V4A to work, I lost usage of the stock music player and equalizer. I'm getting a quick pop message that states the equalizer is "occupied" when trying to run the stock music player (it just crashes after this message). V4A has been uninstalled. The phone is still rooted with Busybox and SELinux installed. I don't really need the stock music player, however, Spotify now will not run any type of equalizer (one is not even listed in settings).
Any help would be appreciated. I've tried searching XDA as well as the internet to no avail.
Hi, thank you for issued XDA Assist. I see you already know where your device's specific forum is so I won't link you to it. It's difficult to tell what you might have changed while trying to install viber4android so the best I can suggest is to flash the stock firmware or a custom Rom and start over again.

Hey thanks. I've searched through everything on this site. Anyway, I'm strongly thinking about CM. Little confused about which version to choose. CM 11 is the latest "stable/snapshot" build for the S4. However, I was advised that there is very little to no risk running a CM 12.1 nightly build on it. So, should I just go to the CM 12.1 download page for my model phone and download the latest one? Or would it be safer to go back to a snapshot CM 11 build? Everyone seems to love 12.

Give cm12 a shot. I've rarely had problems with nightlies.

Pokemon Go

Hello XDA! I have A rooted Android 4.2 Mobile running on a Custom Rom. Is there any way by which I can play Pokemon Go on this mobile? Plz help! Try!
Have you tried side loading it? I updated a friend's Note 2 to a 6.0.1 custom ROM before trying that, sadly. Would be awesome if that works!
It's meant for 4.4 and up for a reason, anything lower then that is asking for issues..plus of course there's that whole apk malware going around

hello is there even devs working for this tab anymore?

Hi. I have Tab 3 lite or SMT113. it was vanilla but i decided to root and just install custom roms as it was just very old. First i bricked it but i used a pc to get official firmware back and then rooted again using kingroot and installed twrp. I installed the latest custom rom for this tab which was Lineageos 14.1 based on Androud 7.1.2. However i didnt like it as it seemed like there was no use of Gpu acceleration and it was very laggy. I m looking for a rom that is android 7+ or android 6 or above. Can anyone please help its kinda my only device. I may be getting a new one but PLEASE someone make a rom for this thing. Android kitkat is starting to lose support for some apps. I m using Fyrestone rom something which is better then stock but still looking for better roms with android 6+. I went on a few forums but they all are dead. Android 8.1.0 is not working and the links have been removed. Even CM11 threads and Android 9 are dead. pLease help users like me who have this device as their only device
i also installed custom boot animations thanks to this thread. Thankyou whoever did this

Cyanogen Android version 4.3.1

Hi All,
Apologies I know this is a old device and trust me I have scoured the web before I ask for for this.
Does anyone have Gapps etc for Cyanogen Android version 4.3.1 for this o/s?
I know it's old and no longer supported, but I have just been handed this Samsung Galaxy tab 2 EPRESSO10RF and wanted to try and get some life out of it.
Cyanogen Android version 4.3.1 - seems to run pretty well on this device, hence why I wanted to pursue getting play store on this.
Thank you in advance.
You should go to the "Unified development" thread as you have many up to date and fully working roms from Marshmallow to Oreo.

If you want to use Jellybean then sure. There is a russian forum called 4pda i remeber there still being an alive link for jb gapps. Will check and update. But i would recommend something like a marshmellow rom without gapps. Gapps have become quite a lag machine on these older devices since 2012. I only see them viable on kitkat.
