Best wait. We have root because of the engineer boot. Don't see why it would buy it could.

No, you're fine to update, I'm on the latest firmware, rooted, with xposed installed. You're gonna wanna change the kernel governor after rooting to interactive or on demand fyi.

I'm assuming yes because you'll be on the PG1 firmware and that's what I'm rooted on.

Freeze or uninstall SDM and reboot. That's what I did, saw some other post here saying the same thing.
Really? Custom romantic and recovery and you got an ota? I'm running beans 11 and nothing was pushed to my phone

I'm running rooted stock and it's forcing me as well. I thought it was disabled on all the root roms even stock ones? Not sure how to stop it other than keep defering it.
OTA
I just accepted the OTA, restored to factory defaults, one step rooted it, got rom manager from the play store, booted into clockwork and then reapplied my rom. No biggie.

Is this the new security fix? I heard there was a major browser vulnerability.

Probably not, they don't like to fix actual problems. They prefer to make minor tweaks and such to their bloat instead. You didn't want your device to actually work as advertised did you?

What's up crew?
After my update the baseband version is I535VRLG7.
I used Mobile Odin pro to PRE-ROOT the OTA before flashing it.... Successfully I should add.
I don't have the OTA Handy for you though, but if you do a little searching around this forum I'm sure someone has it here for downloading.
The OTA did not update my modem though, I had to flash the G7 baseband version separately. Found it on RootzWiki.
Edit:
Found it: OTA update.

You guys can .... SAFELY... check your device to see if you're vulnerable to the hack on this site.
http://www.androiddoes.net/news/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-ussd-hack-test/
Read up on the page.. it says something about if Your Dialer screen coming up and your IMEI is being displayed on it then you have the Vulnerability.. if nothing happens.. or if your dialer comes up with nothing being displayed then you're probably safe.

The phone wipe hack was fixed months ago on the S3. I took the OTA then unlocked (casual) and unlocked boot loader (EZ Unlock). No problems no issues. Slammed Beans 12 non-kexec back on it and I really don't see any difference.... World didn't end Phone police didn't knock my door down.... Nothing....

*new update* lg ls996zv8

Just got notified of a new update. Sprint's website says that it fixed a major security issue (Stagefright). Anyone know anything about this? Any performance improvements/new features? Is it rootable like ZV7?
I just got notified about an update on my 996 as well. Hoping someone can clarify on what this update changes.
Not 100% sure of the changes, but take a look for yourself! Just received this in the morning, and uploaded to Google Drive. Enjoy!

Can i take this update?I am on v7 rooted system.img.Will it work if i update.?Thanks
No. If you are rooted it will not work.
So has anyone else's gotten really crappy from doing this switch? i have had more problems after this update, and the 5.1.1 update made the phone finally what its supposed to be.
If you need root for the new update, I can do it
Just send me a system backup
Sent from my Redmi Note 2
What would one have to do to hide an update like this? As far as i can see it's not worth unrooting for.
Edit: just figured it out. My apologies.
how do you turn off OTA updates?
Root
I am currently on LS996zv8 by sprint Is it possible to root now or downgrade? Their is nothing on the internet I came across to be able to root zv8.

If you long press the notification you can open app info and disable notifications from it.
It won't fully "disable" the updates but itll at least stop nagging you about them.
Probably a better way to do it but this works for me.
Are you people aware of the stagefright security issues and the recently published exploit? Did you really not know about the worst security flaw in Android affecting about 950 million Android phones?
Check this page out for details:
https://nakedsecurity.sophos.com/category/technologies/operating-systems/mobile/android/
Install this upgrade as soon as possible, it will ensure that your phone is protected from the stagefright bugs plaguing Android for months, we'll since discovered a few months ago. It is the most important update your phone has ever received.
LG does not have this update for the European Flex2 yet, lucky you that you get it already.

Source fom Sammobile, we will get Marshmallow!

Please read the source link
I read that as well, I am curious to see where this will go.... fingers crossed!
It would explain why we haven't received 5.1.1 yet. They may just jump us straight to 6.0 but it also means we will have to choose whether to stay rooted on 5.0 or give up root for 6.0 since it can (currently) only be rooted if you have an unlocked bootloader.

Indeed. Due to selinux (which is a great feature), rooting 5.1.1 or later requires an selinux permissive kernel. Otherwise you end up with a bootloop after rooting. And the only way to get an selinux permissive kernel is to build from samsung sources... basically Samsung has officially defeated root as of Android 5.1.1 with it's heavy integration of KNOX.

Yes, but ... if you are rooted and activate sdm to allow the OTA notification and take the OTA, you do it knowing that you are saying goodbye to root, probably for the remaining life of your phone.
I dont think marshmallow has enough in it for me to loose root. lol no thanks

S7 Snapdragon Battery Blues

Hey guys,
So I'm running a stock S7 (AT&T) and have read tons of threads about how to fix battery drain, etc etc. And I'm not finding any great result.
I've tried different debloats and dumbing down lots of system settings, but haven't found that sweet spot yet. I know disabling some things can end up causing further drain, so maybe I'm doing it wrong.
Has there been any definitive solution to fixing the Android System drain? Mine is constantly 30% or more drain at the end of the day.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

API2 has an updated bootloader. You can't downgrade to any other version of the AT&T firmware unless it's Bootloader 4... This is what I meant when I said "You can't go back."

Stay on stock for awhile and try not to take any OTAs. There are multiple complaints about the latest updates causing a lot of battery drain.

You are on May update
to update download from link posted before
then use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...-to-notes-root-install-xposed-unroot-t3411039 to go back to stock
Do exactly as its in this but change AP , CP and CSC as per new downloaded file .
You will be then on unrooted API2 but it has Android system battery drain

Ah, alright. Thanks a lot, man. I'll do this when I get home. I keep getting pesky update requests!
I read everything over and i see what you're talking about. Download and flash all updates besides the BL which is the bootloader... But I'm trying to get away from the battery drain. Should I flash a previous firmware instead of the current for better battery life?
Also, what's the big benefit of having an older bootloader? So you can upgrade and downgrade at will?

[CLOSED] Moto X style Nougat is rolling out

I don't see how a benchmark entry suddenly means official Nougat is rolling out anyway.
Yeah, that headline is hyperbole. It's a good indicator that it's getting closer. Not that it is about to our is rolling out.
Oh look, another Nougat roll out thread with the same image as all of the others.

Your Phone will give the message that there is an update to new software. But as soon you will try to install it, it will fail.
OTA can't be installed on custom recovery, you need te be on stock rom, stock recovery and unrooted.
There are a few posts on the general section to go back to scratch, or just wait till a developer makes an stock based rom on 7.1.

Isn't it risky to from 6 to 7 with flashfire? And sure you may not have Xposed Framework installed.

Flashfire is of course what I meant, Doh on my part!! Never had any issues with it working with my Moto X Style. I would imagine that Motorola have factored in that the majority of their users will still be running an out of date version of Android and that it will go from 6 to 7 with little if any issues. I'll be giving it a try from a custom 7.1.1 rom first before wiping my device and trying it that way, once (if!) it comes out of course.
