I messed up on the rooting, wiped OS & had to downgrade to kitkat. The phone's still S-On. Now I want to unroot the phone to receive OTA update. I am supposed to flash the stock rom and stock recovery, but I couldn't find any from http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-e8/help/htc-one-e8-mid-cid-ruu-ota-twrp-t2903210 this thread. And I have never tinkered with htc devices so I am basically a noob at this point.
So, a step by step suggestion from a good Samaritan will really be helpful. TIA.

Hi. So this is what I have done so far..
1. Unlocked my bootloader using HTCDEV which unlocked my bootloader but kept S-On.
2. Then I flashed my recovery with 4Ext recovery.
3. Installed SU using that. Now I have super user privilages.
In the end, I have unlocked, rooted bootloader with HBOOT 2.00.0002 and S-On. I have taken back up of my current ROM.
From what I understand,
1. My phone is completely rooted.
2. To install a new ROM, I need to go to recovery in booloader and install from SD card.
3. I can revert to my old stock ROM using the back up I took earlier.
Please let me know whether I have got it right till here.
I went through beginner's guides and needed few things to clarify.
1. Will installing new ROM overwrite RUU ?
2. If yes, how do I back up RUU or Rom.zip before I flash with new ROM ?
3. Even though I restore back to my stock ROM. Will my super user privilages remain ?
4. If yes, how to remove them ? How to unroot ?
5. Can I restore to stock's recovery ?
In other words, can I COMPLETELY restore it back excluding unlocking? Please guide me with respect to Desire S.
Installing RUU will comletely restore your phone to stock, removing root as well. So basicly there is no point in backing it up.
Please note that when you unlocked with htcdev.com you will have to flash boot.img separately after installing any custom rom for the phone to boot.
Anyway, there are so many guides on this forum that unswers all your questions, don't see a point to start the new one here.

Thank you. And sorry for the new thread. I went through the guides. Just needed to confirm. These RUUs, are they fixed for a particular model and country? For example, this link provides some RUUs for Desire S for different countries. So RUUs for all the Desire S phones in that region are same, officially ?
Aah, this thread solved the problem that I've been thinking!
When I am going to sell my DS, only need to install correct RUU and it is fully stock again?
Hi,
I recently got my sensation XE to s-off using the revo tool, I'm on software number 1.73.401.4 and from what I've read it needs updating to something else before I can install custom roms? I have rom manager and 4EXT which i have made backups of what on my phone on and various other tools too, Also I tried installing the official ICS update on my device it goes to 4EXT all updates fine then when it reboots it sticks on the HTC menu and I have to take the battery out and boot it into recovery mode and restore it into my backup, I think the reason for this is that it doesn't work well while doing official updates when its on s-off, this is why I would like to install revolutionHD or something similar and I was just looking for some help really.
The reason you can't update to OTA/FOTA ICS is because you are in custom Recovery, you need to revert it back to Stock Recovery. I use the following guide to get the Stock Recovery and did fine install [GUIDE] Get Stock Recovery/Install OTA Updates without losing data..
But if you want to go to Custom ROM just read the guide or step usually on 1st page carefully. For ARHD you need to get special Firmware which can be found on guide. But remember to do the backup first.
Yeah I would like to get ARHD I have seen the tut and I have CID getter and know my CID says its HTC__001 and my bootloader is currently 1.17.1111 but I dont quite get what I have to do next as the tutorial seemed quite cluttered.
I Was just updating i was on 1.17 i got to 1.21 tried doing the next one then my phone started bootlooping when it said it was finished, i Tried using the files he said to use if it bootlooped but it still kept bootlooping and now I've had to restore it from my backup i was wandering if someone could help
Please can someone help my phone wont stop bootlooping even when i restored from a backup
Can anyone help me?
I think the cause of the bootlooping is you do not install the correct 3.30 firmware or your miss some step. On the first page there are a guide which is [Guide][25th Feb 2012] Noob's Guide in Flashing ARHD 6.3.x and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21989107. Please read those guide carefully, understand and try it. I am using [Guide][25th Feb 2012] Noob's Guide in Flashing ARHD 6.3.x as the guide.
Hope this will help and solve your problem.
The only thing I've done to my amaze is I unlocked the bootloader a few months back. I am on s-on, UN-rooted and I was wondering if there was a way to get my phone back to stock(GB) so I can get the ota ICS. I, being a noob, do not know if the other threads relate to me when they tell me to flash the stock ruu and do that whole procedure as I am not rooted. Again, I am fairly new at this so please be nice. Do i just use Hasoon's all-in-one-kit and flash the stock recovery and I'm set?
I can receive ota updates with the phone s-of I have a AT&T hox says relocked bootloader root as I can not upgrade to 4.1.1 and would not have problems to do it so?
Why don't you just flash a stock ROM from our development section? Taking an OTA on a modified phone is risky business.

This post says you don't have root. The first post says you are rooted. Which is it?
Your posts seem hastily typed, with lots of typos, which makes it confusing to help you. Another example, it seems you used "can" when you meant "can't" in the above quoted post. So just slow down and type more clearly, otherwise its very hard to help you properly.
S-off does not affect whether you receive and can install OTAs. Custom recovery will prevent installation. Root shouldn't matter, but the safest way to ensure receiving future OTAs, is to RUU to stock using the most recent (3.18) RUU. But be certain you are in fact S-off, as S-on and SuperCID will result in a brick if you run the 3.18 RUU.
Hi guys,
I have an HTC ONE SV rooted and with the TWRP recovery (so, S-OFF); i want to re-install the stock recovery, how can i do this?
If i install the Stock rom, would be restored the stock recovery too?
Thanks.
Flash it in fastboot:
fastboot flash recovery name_of_recovery.img
Thank you for the answer, but where can i found the .img of stock recovery?
From the stock rom?
Sorry for my stupid questions, but i won't brick the phone.
What version of One Sv do you have?
Version K2_U
Android Version 4.2.2
HTC Sense 5.0
Inside this firmware.zip:

Thank you so much.
I have to send my ONE SV to HTC for a warranty repair, so i'm following this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2541843
According to you, are these steps correct?
1) Re-install the stock recovery
2) Follow the tutorial to remove the flag "Unlocked" and "Tampared"
3) Remove Root (with an OTA update?)
4) Return S-ON
I would be very grateful to you if you will help me!

Removing tampered is only a part, in the way back stock. OTA does not remove root.
This is the way to go for you: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2386426
And you need S-off!
Ok.
So, in order, to return 100% stock:
1) Reinstall stock recovery
2) Remove "Tampered" flag
3) Follow your guide
is right?
If you follow my guide, you can skip step one. This will be stock after the RUU.
Tampered flag must be removed as long as you have root, means yes, before the RUU is flashed.
Perfect.
Only a last thing: the link for "ICS RUU for K2U" does not work (http://www.androidruu.com/getdownlo...0.14_2_10.49.40.11L_release_302178_signed.exe)
Seems to be a problem on androidruu.com.
Don't know, if this is a temporary problem or the site is down/offline.
Ok.
I attached the screen of the hboot of my phone, the writing "ship S-ON" means it is s-on (again)?
It is very strange...
If there stands S-on, it is S-on.
