[Q] Sony Xperia Z5 (e6653) Firmware (Imported to US) - Does Region Selected Matter? - Xperia Z5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Trying to determine which region of the latest firmware to flash from xperiafirm for my e6653. I am on AT&T. I've looked around the forum and see the UK + US frankenbuild to make it register as an e6603 using the 6653 UK files + rest of US.
My guesses as to the best are either Nordic Combined (1298-7362) or Customized UK (1298-5496). Both are on build 32.2.A.0.224 but Nordic Combined is on R12C and Customized UK is on R11C.
Does this even matter? Does reception vary with the different firmwares? My reception is pretty bad in the US SF Bay Area with this phone on AT&T.
Thanks!

for what it is worth, i've checked the hashes on the modem files from Nordic Combined vs. the US 6603 build (1300-4290_32.2.A.0.224_R3C) - they're the same.

It doesn't make a difference. The difference is all about bloatware so I always just use the build which is smallest in size.
Saves u some debloating

Any E6653 Firmware will go onto any E6653
But not a e6653 fw on a e6603 for logical reasons some of which resulting in a bricked device possibly

[Q] Install Other country firmware over stock Country firmware?

So I've just got my new Galaxy SII plus today and I'm sorta a total newb when it comes to the world of flashing . I'm wondering if it's possible to flash a stock firmware from another country in this case possibly a Hong Kong (I9105PZSAMH1) firmware, over a stock firmware from a different country/region of the phones origin (in this case some European countries (Italy, France, Belgium, United Kingdom etc. with the firmware number I9105PXXAMC2).
If I were to do this, would there be any side affects (like bricking) or would the phone work fine and exactly the same as it should be?
Has anyone tried this before?
Thanks in advance

Yes bro I had been doing this practice for years. And no side effects at all. Go ahead and flash other country's frimware. Only csc differs.

The term is an abbreviated form of Consumer Software*Customization and*denotes to a specific geographical region*
And yes *hit thanks button instead of saying. : )

I just want to confirm, if I were to flash another stock from a different region, would I be flashing the radio (the baseband version) from that region as well?
Because I'm in Australia, and because I'm flashing a HK stock firmware over the European firmware.
and I'm unsure if the HK baseband version will work just as well as the current baseband version that I'm using. (Which is working very well)
Because apparently the radio towers in HK are closer together there, where as here they are further apart.

2 Different CDA for Generic German Z3's - What's the difference

As per the title.
What is the difference between the 2 CDA's (1288-5031 & 1293-0922) for Generic DE D6603 Z3's? Both come up as unbranded but one has a 30mb bigger FTF than the other.
Just curious as i want to flash Lollipop from one of them. Tried the Central Europe 1 version but i was getting a couple of errors so have for now reverted back to KitKat.
I'm in the UK btw hence the question.
Just found out from another thread the 0922 is 1&1 and 5031 is unbranded.
Thanks all

[Q] Using Xperifirm

Hi,
I have a Xperis Z3 Tablet compact, 32GB version. I bought it from Japan on Ebay because it wasn't available here in Australia. It seems that there won't be any OTA updates here either, so I would like to know which firmware I should download using Xperifirm.
What is a 'Customised' firmware download? I guess my preferences would be for US or UK versions, but I guess the Japan one will do as I can change languages OK.
Any help for these please.
Trevor

3 UK firmware flashing options...

I have an XZ Premium (G8141) from the 3UK network. I want to use it in the US, likely as a WiFi only device. I want to flash the firmware to remove the 3UK branding. Trying to decide the best option. I don't really care about the fingerprint sensor working or not. If I did decide to use it on a mobile network it would be TMobile US.
I downloaded XperiFirm and for the G8141 there are a number of "Customized" options. If I went this way I imagine I would go with the Customized CE1 or UK version right? That would remove network customization and be a stock Sony firmware?
In the G8142 section there is a Customized US firmware. Is flashing this an option to get a US based firmware? What would be the negative side of doing this?
I appreciate any input. Thank you!

The only difference between the two customised versions is that the US one will have the fingerprint reader disabled.
Any customised firmware build will work, removing the 3UK logo, but avoid the US version if you use fingerprint unlock
Thank you for the response! Another question, are the Customized firmwares official Sony ones?

Which stock firmware I should download for my device

Hi all, I have bought new Sony XZ, In the back of device I see AU SOV34 branch. At present it running on android 7.1
Now I want to upgrade it to 8.0 by flashtool.
But in about phone, I see it model F8331 and in Service Info/Software Info/Customization Version it's 1305-2218_R2D (Hongkong market)
I'm so confused about these pieces of information
Could you please give me an advice. Thanks all so much!
Edit1: I'm in Vietnam Region
I do not think it'll be okay if you flash F8331 firmware over another model, and i think it has some difference between F8331 and Japanese Version (at least on cellular frequencies that means it has possibility to lose its LTE capable).

Thank you, I flashed F8331 version, it's worked. But Android 8 seems to drain the battery faster than android 7 on XZ?
