[Q] Install Other country firmware over stock Country firmware? - Samsung Galaxy S II Plus

So I've just got my new Galaxy SII plus today and I'm sorta a total newb when it comes to the world of flashing . I'm wondering if it's possible to flash a stock firmware from another country in this case possibly a Hong Kong (I9105PZSAMH1) firmware, over a stock firmware from a different country/region of the phones origin (in this case some European countries (Italy, France, Belgium, United Kingdom etc. with the firmware number I9105PXXAMC2).
If I were to do this, would there be any side affects (like bricking) or would the phone work fine and exactly the same as it should be?
Has anyone tried this before?
Thanks in advance

Yes bro I had been doing this practice for years. And no side effects at all. Go ahead and flash other country's frimware. Only csc differs.

The term is an abbreviated form of Consumer Software*Customization and*denotes to a specific geographical region*
And yes *hit thanks button instead of saying. : )

I just want to confirm, if I were to flash another stock from a different region, would I be flashing the radio (the baseband version) from that region as well?
Because I'm in Australia, and because I'm flashing a HK stock firmware over the European firmware.
and I'm unsure if the HK baseband version will work just as well as the current baseband version that I'm using. (Which is working very well)
Because apparently the radio towers in HK are closer together there, where as here they are further apart.

Difference between SM-P9050ZKAXEF and SM-P9050ZKADBT
Hello, I am thinking of buying the Note 12.2 but I would like to know the defference between these two part numbers. What do they mean XEF and DBT? They are imported from Germany or France?
Thank you.
DBT is the German Unbranded version, XEF is the French Unbranded version. The only difference lies in the firmware (Which has the same code). The country code is just to indicate the country of origin for product details purposes.
There are a few small differences in the firmware (Shutter sound, for instance). But since you can freely flash official firmware without risk to your warranty, it's not overly important.
Send from my DBT SM-P905 with Tapatalk 2.
Thank you very much for your answer. I have seen your name on many threads about this device, so you have the knowledge. I have 3 more questions:
1. Is there a way to get the full list of the differences between the two firmwares?
2. If Samsung releases an update lets say first for Germany, then the German device will get the update and the French one will get it later when it is released for that specific country?
3. You mentioned that there is a way to flash the firmware I want. This is done without triggering Knox? Can you post a link for the official firmwares?

Sadly, no. Samsung never gives out such lists, and to my knowledge nobody has compiled one.
2. If Samsung releases an update lets say first for Germany, then the German device will get the update and the French one will get it later when it is released for that specific country?

Yes.
Samsung's updates usually go like this: First release is for XEO, Poland. (That's where the test centre is located).
A week or three later, provided nothing goes wrong, DBT, XEF and BTU(UK) get the update. The order of which one gets it first varies, but they're usually around the same week.
Next up is the rest of the world. The US releases follow a different schedule because those devices have their own device number.
Sometimes a country decides to skip an update or two due to a problem, or because the newest update fixes specific issues that do not apply to that country. For instance there was an update for the Note 3 that fixed the WiFi passwords not being remembered. The issue didn't affect DBT, so DBT didn't get that update. This has been the case for the P905 on several updates recently due to the LTE whitelists needing to be adapted, which can only be done via an update.
3. You mentioned that there is a way to flash the firmware I want. This is done without triggering Knox? Can you post a link for the official firmwares?

So long as you flash an official firmware from the same region, it won't trigger KNOX.
You can find most of them here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-P905/
Keep in mind that you can only flash the same firmware number or higher. You can't downgrade.
Thank you very much for answering my questions. From what I understand if I buy the import from Germany, I will not be able to flash the France firmware because they are different regions, correct? I live in Greece, so you suggest finding a tablet with Greek firmware or importing one of the above?

France and Germany are in the same region. The regions are defined as EU/EEA, Asia, Middle East, USA, etc.
The Greek firmware also falls within the EU/EEA region.
You can cross-flash the firmware from any of the EU/EEA countries without issue.

Is Firmware Region important?

Hi,
I wanted to know if flashing a firmware from another similar region was possible?
For instance I have the g920I from Australia and I noticed that the New Zealand version has been updated today.
It seems that if you your phone is unlocked to any provider you can then flash any firmware but I would like to confirm please?
Cheers

No it doesn't make any difference. I flashed the New Zealand on my G920I and it actually fixed some issues I was having. So it is safe.
If you flash the wrong firmware, you and your phone might start speaking with an accent. I'd recommend just flashing firmware from your region.

Update for SM-P905 (baseband no: P905XXUANA7 build no: P905XXUANC3) ?

Hi guys,
Am I mistaken or is this the last samsung note pro in the known universe to receive an update to lollipop? I understand it's been a long wait for all note pro users. Does anyone here have an idea when this particular model SM-P905 (baseband no: P905XXUANA7 build no: P905XXUANC3) will receive an update?

Unless I've missed something, the firmware for my specific model isn't available from sammobile, so I can't use odin to update.

I guess you don't have to flash a specific firmware since you have the international 905 model !!
Mine was from italy and i flashed UAE firmware without problems !!

Oh. I feel so newb (And I'm a tech guy...awkward....lol). Mine is running stock kitkat (4.4.2). I rooted it a while back, but so far, have not flashed it with any rom. Correct me if I'm wrong - international version means that all the LTE/radio bands are unlocked? I can't flash it with Deodex.Root.Xposed, as I'm not running stock lollipop. Which rom did u flash yours with?
Chris
You should be able to use Odin to flash any of the released 905 version lollipop updates from sammonbile. You will lose your root however.

Thanks for the link, however, I live in Australia, so according to sammobile, there's no lollipop firmware for this country:

Since your going to flash it yourself just choose any region (pick one thats on 5.1.1) and flash that. Then just change the language and time zone settings during set up and you should be good to go. Many US customers with the 905 used this method when other countries were getting the original 5.0.1 update before them. Worked fine.

Thanks for the info. Cool. I'll keep an eye out for 5.1.1. If I'm not mistaken, most are 5.0.2 at the moment, except AT&T.

New G930F, wish to downgrade FW

Hi, I'm in the US and I received my new S7 G930F International today with baseband G930FXXU1DQB1, Android 7.0 and wish to downgrade to Marshmallow 6.01, where can I find the proper FW for this?
From what I've been able to find so far I have this,
XX = COUNTRY CODE (Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom)

Hi mate
Use an app like PhoneInfo to find out what is your active CSC , this will tell you what country is the firmware from
You can flash the firmware of any country you want , just make sure that its CSC has the country specific features you need ( like Wif calling or VoLTE)

Hi mate
You have and unbranded Panamanian firmware
My question would be is it working good in the USA , are you missing any carrier option like wifi calling or VoLTE?
If not you can use any of the 6.0.1 from here (TPA)
http://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?r=TPA&v=&q=g930f&exact=1
Here you use Odin and i would use AP, BL , CP and CSC ....not quite sure if you could use home_csc to save your data, using CSC will factory reset your phone....i would use that option
This option here
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvq2-XRisDI
Downgrade your phone and save your data but is not a 100% downgrade as it does not flash the bootloader and the modem.......
Why you want to downgrade anyhow?

Hi @MAX 404, thanks for that link, it's a genuine PITA sifting thru all of the firmware over there. I'm with Consumer Cellular (AT&T) and the reason for the downgrade (6.01), I want to just root (CF-Auto-Root) without a custom recovery atm.
Also, things seem to be running fine with this firmware, data etc. though I haven't used it much. I don't use WiFi calling so have no real need for that. Curious, though what would be a better or closer firmware other than Panama as I have to admit I'm a bit overwhelmed with the sheer number of firmware choices.

All of them are pretty much the same no big difference other than what i mention and that some of them may upgrade sooner than others....

Yes, In the USA they do not have the G930F ( exynos chipset) they comercialice the snapdragon version.....with a lock bootloader
Myself i think the one you got is better
That is why you do not have a G930F USA firmware

Quick question, just so I'm square on this, I read somewhere but forgot where, how these files are handled, in their respective slots, CSC, CP, BL, AP but what is done if at all of the "HOME" file?
Edit: I found that it should be ignored and just use the regular CSC file, I do opt for a full wipe anyhow.

Hi
That is right , you should use home_csc only if is the same one that is in your phone and you want to keep the user date , with CSC you will wipe the phone and have a clean install...better that way

Galaxy s8+ japanese

which variant do i use for galaxy s8 from japan? Sm-G955J / SVC35
Please
variant of what? you looking to stay w/Japanese or go to another region/country?
I just want to use an operator-free rom stock, but I can still use it in Japan
Thanks for help!
What's Japan use for cell svc, GSM? Exynos phone? If so pretty much any custom Exynos ROM, with the version appropriate CSC ought to work just fine.
Maybe it's out of topic, but kinda similar with my question, and the last reply is still quite recent.
I just got a used s8+ g9550 (TGY/Hongkong). I looked at Phone Info app, it comes with Hongkong PDA & CSC (G9550ZHU1AQG6), and US version of BL & CP (G955USQU1AQGL). Still on Nougat 7.0.
It works just fine here in Indonesia. But I'm afraid it won't be getting any OTA updates since I'm not living in China. Is it actually OK to mix up the firmware (AP, CSC,BL,PDA) like that? What versions are compatible with my device?
I'm totally new here. I don't even know why there're 4 firmwares for each device, and what each one of them is for. All I know CP = Modem/Baseband, BL = Bootloader. Mind to explain it to me? Thanks

I beleive your phone is a snapdragon processor not exynos - if it is chinese, I think there may be a way to unlock the bootloader but I am not 100% sure of that. I know that the S7 Chinese was able to be unlocked but there was a special ap you had to install in order to do it.
I know I haven't helped much but I wish you good luck...
