New G930F, wish to downgrade FW - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hi, I'm in the US and I received my new S7 G930F International today with baseband G930FXXU1DQB1, Android 7.0 and wish to downgrade to Marshmallow 6.01, where can I find the proper FW for this?
From what I've been able to find so far I have this,
XX = COUNTRY CODE (Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom)

Hi mate
Use an app like PhoneInfo to find out what is your active CSC , this will tell you what country is the firmware from
You can flash the firmware of any country you want , just make sure that its CSC has the country specific features you need ( like Wif calling or VoLTE)

Hi mate
You have and unbranded Panamanian firmware
My question would be is it working good in the USA , are you missing any carrier option like wifi calling or VoLTE?
If not you can use any of the 6.0.1 from here (TPA)
http://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?r=TPA&v=&q=g930f&exact=1
Here you use Odin and i would use AP, BL , CP and CSC ....not quite sure if you could use home_csc to save your data, using CSC will factory reset your phone....i would use that option
This option here
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvq2-XRisDI
Downgrade your phone and save your data but is not a 100% downgrade as it does not flash the bootloader and the modem.......
Why you want to downgrade anyhow?

Hi @MAX 404, thanks for that link, it's a genuine PITA sifting thru all of the firmware over there. I'm with Consumer Cellular (AT&T) and the reason for the downgrade (6.01), I want to just root (CF-Auto-Root) without a custom recovery atm.
Also, things seem to be running fine with this firmware, data etc. though I haven't used it much. I don't use WiFi calling so have no real need for that. Curious, though what would be a better or closer firmware other than Panama as I have to admit I'm a bit overwhelmed with the sheer number of firmware choices.

Question, is there a logical reason why there isn't a more USA proper ver?

Yes, In the USA they do not have the G930F ( exynos chipset) they comercialice the snapdragon version.....with a lock bootloader
Myself i think the one you got is better
That is why you do not have a G930F USA firmware

Quick question, just so I'm square on this, I read somewhere but forgot where, how these files are handled, in their respective slots, CSC, CP, BL, AP but what is done if at all of the "HOME" file?
Edit: I found that it should be ignored and just use the regular CSC file, I do opt for a full wipe anyhow.

Hi
That is right , you should use home_csc only if is the same one that is in your phone and you want to keep the user date , with CSC you will wipe the phone and have a clean install...better that way

I also had an issue with flashing it. After flashing the firmware, flash the pit and you will be ready. Just wipe data after that

I'm downloading the Netherlands version (I presume you used the German one) and try without the .pit and wipe, if it doesn't work - then shall I apply the .pit.
Do these carrier branded firmwares include lots of bloatware?
Edit: Flashing right now, and uploading the Netherlands to MEGA.

TNL has a fair bit of bloatware, but nearly all can be deleted. About 7-9, I believe. The My T-mobile app and Travel&Surf app are not relevant to the actual network functions (they're Dutch-only account apps) and can be safely deleted.
Should be a few other Dutch junk apps as well, such as scoupy and HRS hotels. If you find an app but you're not sure what it is, I can probably tell you. (And if not, I can ask the dev team.)
Oh, it does have a very annoying startup jingle. Mind the volume if you reboot at night

Can you please confirm if this is a no-wipe and did you need a pit file as well? I have BOB6, but Wi-Fi takes like 30 seconds just to turn on and it's driving me crazy I don't want to go back to defaults right now. Thank you.

TNL is build from PHN, which is the same size as BTU. You shouldn't need a pitfile if you're on an Unbranded western EU rom.
It's non-wipe.

So seems like Unbranded to Branded is a no go. Flashed back Poland Unbranded BOB6 and phone is now booting.
VoLTE
Does this ROM have VoLTE, like the previous version (OC3)? BOB6 doesn't, and some say Samsung opted to enable VoLTE only for some countries (for which OC3 was created).
what is the exact changelog?

I said Unbranded Western EU ROM. XEO always has size issues with western ROMS, particularly DBT/BTU/PHN/XEF (which are basically all the same).

My phone's default is DBT (Germany), then flashed with the Unbranded 5.0 Poland as even to this date there is no released DBT 5.0 firmware. Anyway, no harm was done.
I am on Poland unbranded BOB6 5.0 right now.
If I intend to flash this directly with the PIT file, will I lose all my files?
Which PIT file should i use to upgrade from the Polish BOB6 to this? I've tried both PITs mentioned on this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/general/finally-official-5-0-firmware-galaxy-t3029557 (page 114) to no avail.

Unlocked SM-G955U

Last year's S7/S7edge had a different model number for each carrier (G935A/T/V/P/R4), but this year they all seem to be using the 955U model with different CSCs for each carrier.
I noticed on SamMobile there's an unbranded firmware available for the G955U with the XAS CSC, what CSC is that? Generic?
The reason I ask this is that because these US variant phones get imported to Pakistan and some people buy them since they're cheaper than the officially sold G955F models here, so if a G955U gets imported here which for example was previously used on T-Mobile in the USA, if one flashes the XAS ROM, will it basically be an unbranded Snapdragon 835 S8+ or is removing the carriers CSC not possible?
All replies will be appreciated.
Cheers

The U version is locked and not able to root. It's used by all USA carriers and they probably made it locked down due to Samsung pay. At some point a root crack will surface but it probably won't be stable

Just the possibility of flashing an unbranded ROM with no bloat, something that won't be used with US carriers.

You cannot flash firmware without rooting on this device. That's my point. When you try flashing in Odin, nothing happens. That's why you cannot root or even flash things. Got it? You need root in this case.
I think we are after the same thing; xas is sprint from my understanding. xaa should be the "unlocked" carrier neutral you are looking for. There is a thread in the s8 forum where some people had success flashing parts of the Canadian firmware then refreshing parts of us firmware they had quasi obtained this but I have yet to try

I read somewhere that only G955f models can change CSC firmware using Odin.
G955U models won't be able to... I could be wrong...
Then again, we won't really know until someone buys the U model and tries it out for themselves.

im using a 955f (so could be different on your phone), but just turn the phone around, on mine the S/N stands printed on the bottom of the backside, you can slightly see it ->here<-
and also I'm really not sure about that, but i believe some Serial/IMEI/whatever-numbers do stand in download mode
EDIT: By what i've found google'in, on the 955U, just the IMEI is printed. Sorry

Use Firmware Of A Different Model

Hi,
I have a S8+ with the model SM-G955FD and was wondering if I am able to download the firmware for the model SM-G955F?
The phone was purchased outside of Australia and doesn't use the Australian (Telstra) firmware that I would like it to. I just figured they are the same phone just different model numbers so there shouldn't be any issues right? I might just lose a couple features or something but the phone should work correctly?
Thanks in advance.
Yea, the G955FD is the dual SIM Exynos variant, right?
I'm sure the dual SIM uses the same firmware as the single SIM, so you should have no worries flashing Aussie firmware.
But I would suggest you flash the XSA (Aussie unbranded) firmware, not Telstra firmware. You'll lose nothing, but you'll get faster updates.

What's Japan use for cell svc, GSM? Exynos phone? If so pretty much any custom Exynos ROM, with the version appropriate CSC ought to work just fine.
Maybe it's out of topic, but kinda similar with my question, and the last reply is still quite recent.
I just got a used s8+ g9550 (TGY/Hongkong). I looked at Phone Info app, it comes with Hongkong PDA & CSC (G9550ZHU1AQG6), and US version of BL & CP (G955USQU1AQGL). Still on Nougat 7.0.
It works just fine here in Indonesia. But I'm afraid it won't be getting any OTA updates since I'm not living in China. Is it actually OK to mix up the firmware (AP, CSC,BL,PDA) like that? What versions are compatible with my device?
I'm totally new here. I don't even know why there're 4 firmwares for each device, and what each one of them is for. All I know CP = Modem/Baseband, BL = Bootloader. Mind to explain it to me? Thanks

I beleive your phone is a snapdragon processor not exynos - if it is chinese, I think there may be a way to unlock the bootloader but I am not 100% sure of that. I know that the S7 Chinese was able to be unlocked but there was a special ap you had to install in order to do it.
I know I haven't helped much but I wish you good luck...

Question S908N KTC to KOO

Hello fellows
So my issue is a bit long so sorry for that
I got this phone 3 days ago
S908N KTC Unlocked ( I live in Middle East and the SIM is working just fine )
I didn't know that this was a branded phone from KTC, I thought it was unbranded KOO
So right now I want to change the firmware to KOO to get rid of the KTC Boot animation and the KTC bloatware/settings
So how should I do that ? Just flash the KOO firmware using Odin? do I need to change csc? is that risky and may trigger Knox and block the phone ?
and after that can I just flash like the middle east firmware ?
Thank you in advance and sorry for taking too long
I'm attaching a screenshot of the CSC and software version of service provider
Use samkey. Pay for a key then change your csc using it

Yes, but some users already tried and it worked. I remember reading one or two days ago about exactly this...it says it is not supported but it works. I recall it was an Exynos device not SnapDragon but should work the same

Hi, have you managed to change the CSC?
I also have the s908N and want to maybe put a European CSC. Also have no idea how does that work with SAMKEY

Thanks for confirming
At least it appears possible to root it and maybe install a custom rom.
I assume that only the rom builders might be able to create a solution for the N version as an installation option in a rom.
However they might not be motivated due to the small number of people having the N versions. Unless of course a few of us agree to contribute in the form of a donation, then maybe a developer can play around and make it happen. What do you think?

well, I'm not really planning to root as this will trip knox.
Any news on changing KTC to KOO? I rooted SM-S908N, installed app Phone INFO+ Samsung, but don't see a way to change CSC. It just sees KTC region. Chimera Tool also gives info SM-S908N is not supported device. So, is there any way to get KOO or at least get rid of KTC Boot animation and the KTC bloatware/settings?

I am waiting too
any update, bro?
Sadly it seems like the Korean version of the phone will never get a different CSC... :/
I successfully changed KTC to KOO using Shell exploit method mentioned in S22 thread.
Also, yeah without root and without triggering knox.
