Instability after Marshmallow upgrade - MX Player

Hi,
I have never had issues with MX Player, but right after Lollipop => Marshmallow (HTC Sense) upgrade it started to crash very often.
HW/SW: HTC One E8 / Android 6.0.1 ... Sense 7.0 ... Soft.no 3.07.401.1 (stock non-rooted)
* Crashes most often when starting to play a video, turning off screen, going to home screen etc., but is not necessarily limited to that
* Once it's playing and is not manipulated with, most often it will play to completition.
* None of this ever happened to me before the upgrade (and the one before that)
* Tried to reinstall the app, but it didn't help
* Restarting phone didn't help
* Was happening before setting a custom codec, with it as well, when switching back default didn't help
* I don't experience any issues with other apps
* Not running any security app, and I'd say no suspicious app
* Seems less prone to crash with SW decoder, but still does with all of them
* Seems to happens with all the videos.
* Not sure it's related, but sometimes when starting playing it really freezes the system and has to be force stopped ... but this is rather rare
Managed to capture some logcat, hope it will helpful + attached the debug report created by MX Player.
Thank you!

Can you disable HW+ from decoder settings & try again? Marshmallow upgrade on many HTC device leads to crash when hardware acceleration is used.

What apps/games are giving your Sensations a problem?

I want to see if there are apps/games that are universally giving us problems. Therefore, if you could list your top 5 that are either force closing, causing an extreme lag or causing your Sensation to act up maybe we can share stories of fixes or identify common denominators. Please feel free to add yours.
My 5:
* Spare Parts
Problem: Spare parts force closes when I try check the battery stats - everytime.
* Volume +
Problem: Once a day this program force closes on me. It has increased my headset volume a bit, but it is not worth the shutdowns.
* Launcherpro
Problem: This thing force closes like clockwork. Once every two days this thing shutsdown and I can't seem to find out why.
* Stupid Zombies
Problem: I will be able to play about 3 rounds and then the game becomes unresponsive. I don't know of a compatibility problem.
* (reserved)
Hyper Jump
Resolution is messed up.
The Weather Channel used to force close on me all the time but since i reset my phone no issues, I use launcher pro (Plus Unlocked) and havent had any issues with it at all.

[Q] HW issue or Stock ROM?

Hi,
So ~3 weeks ago I got my HTC Sensation XE, eveything has been working flawlessly up until last week.
Issue:
When I start playing video on YouTube App. ( latest version ), it lags for 2-3 seconds, then the next 2-3 seconds are played in slight fast forward and so rinse and repeat. For some videos it's much more distinctive, for some - barely noticeable. This issue causes sound to be desynced as well, for a brief period.
I did factory data reset and nothing changed ( well obviously.. ) except that the preinstalled/default YouTube App. has a different issue. Video playback is fine and such, but it starts lagging whenever I bring up the timeline bar and does not stop unless it disappears.
I did notice that phone has been responding in a sluggish way as well. For example, it sometimes lags when scrolling a list in an App ( Market, etc. ) or just scrolling a change log text ( not that huge ) for an App; thing is - about 80% of the scroll..it scrolls like a slideshow and sometimes it just scrolls flawlessly. You might say that problem is in loading the lists/videos..., however I think that's not the case because the videos are cached fine, signal strength is good. I did test for these issues on different WiFi's and 3G, however, to no avail.
Warranty "Service" + Test
I did take my phone to Warranty service, they did * reprogram* it ( My guess is that they did factory reset ), of course problem was no fixed. I did take it back again to show it, but they replied that they did what they could ... ( part where I get pissed ... might as well as return to them ... )
Well since I am in a conversation with HTC Support, the conclusion that they made was much more appealing and logical - it's either antenna, need for a re-flash or mobo change.
So since my network is working fine and I have no trouble or whatsoever with LOADING the video, the issue HAS to be in the PLAYBACK part ...
I decided to some deductive testing.
I ran YouTube App and Internet browser to check for these problems.
As it turned out, I had no problems in video playback using internet browser both for youtube.com and m.youtube.com, it even played 1080p video ( not really well, but it was much ,much more bearable that those 2-3 second lags and also .. it might be part of the issue I am having )
Then put my phone side by side to PC. Videos using Internet browser were played 1:1, when I played them on YouTube app., phone was noticeably lagging behind and catching up all the time.
So this points to software problem direction.
However I am still concered about Hardware problem since the 1080p was not played really smoothly ( well, it should, shouldn't it ? ) and generally sluggish phone.

Questions:
1. Are these Software or Hardware issues? How do I exactly tell that?
2. Since I am seriously concering ROOTing the phone and flashing with CM if the issue is software based, what are main tips to search for? ( What causes bricking of the phone/how to avoid that... etc. )
3. Can any of you give a quick rundown of these terms and how do they differ?
ROM - that's Android OS 2.3.4 (Gingerbread) ... ICS etc., right?
Firmware - ???
Kernel - Hardware level controller??
Baseband - Radio ( WiFi/3G/GSM ?? )
and some more off from "About phone"
- what is Software number?
- what is build version?
- what is Browser version?

[Q] Xposed framework & issues

Hi, I've seen a related post reg. Xposed framework for our phones, did however see the "need" of starting a new one here.
Anyone having Xposed installed and facing issues:
* serious lag
* random reboots (last week up to 5 per day, de-activating resluted in an immediate "reboot-stop")
* severe battery-drain (just having the screen active resulted in a visible decrease per minute....)
I had themeinstaller applied (love the CM10 thems) as well as advanced power (reboot) and sofkeys.
I did try desabling 1 at the time, nothing worked/helped until finally deactivating framework itself.
Current environment:
* stock
* unlocked B/L
* (rooted...)
* used the latest frameork downloaded form the site
I really love having it, and don't just now want to go to CM11 (waiting for a RC or similar).
txs for the feedback,
cheers.

[Q] Screen lag, no auto-rotate, and music skipping

Hey All,
You guys are the experts so, if I'm being stupid just tell me. Here is my issue/question:
I noticed in late august/early september 2014 that my phone is starting to skip when I stream bluetooth music over to my truck through the Google Play Music app. This happens on any vehicle that I pair with and I am confused. I have two other issues that may be related so I'll list them next but, for now, here is what I've tried to fix the music issue.
-Removed external sd card
-turned off wifi
-turned off gps
-re-synced bluetooth
-factory reset and/or installed new rom and/or upgraded firmware(several times for each)
The next issue is screen lag. The lag issue, to my novice brain, seems like it could also be affecting the music playback which is why i'm including it in this post. It's most noticeable in games but I also notice when scrolling through screens in settings, webpages, text messages, etc. It's a small skip that usually corrects itself within a half a second or less. I have not found any times or circumstances when it is more or less prevalent.
Lastly, while trying to eliminate other possible causes I've tried troubleshooting display issues such as my auto-rotate. I have the auto-rotate feature turned on, and I have re-calibrated my g-sensor. Regardless, I have no auto-rotate whatsoever. I have run this phone in safe mode to no avail, still no auto-rotate. This is true 100% of the time and not just on "some" applications. Possibly related: I can't figure out how to turn off motion launch gestures. I uncheck the box, and anything that may have something to do with motion launch such as media gestures but, no dice.
Previous roms:
NuSense Six
ViperOne
CleanRom2.0
LiquidSmooth v3.1
SinlessRom
. . . and probably one or two more plus 2 or three versions of some of these roms
My current stats:
Android 4.4.4
CleanRom 3.0.0
Kernel 3.4.0-g478f124
Baseband: 1.09.20.0926
Build: 3.28.605.4
Thanks for reading this far!

ANOTHER Fingerprint Hardware Not Detected Issue

Hey guys
So i had this problem a while back, it also attaches to video playback errors (YouTube app mainly) and the camera app
So I had this issue a while back, I was unlocked, rooted, Xposed - the lot and i was able to find a fix that got them all working correct again (think it was DRM patch but truly don't recall)
Anyway, I decided to go legit again, use Android Pay and mobile banking etc and I'm now unrooted, twrp is gone and used flashtool to lock my bootloader, but in doing so the error has eventually come back (all 3) but in the process of trying various fixes I have found one cause when I load this one game (it happens after a length of time that I've not been able to determine yet, but loading this game will trigger it 100% even moments after a fresh boot)
Im running stock 7.0
Kernel: 3.10.84-perf-g1016077 [email protected] #1
Build Number: 32.3.A.2.33
I remember when I was first rooting I had flashed some different kernel but was all so long ago i have all but forgotten what I did :/

Fill out the details please, you're not even mentioning the game in your rant (or spilling out your thoughts)
Lol, my apologies, I didn't mean to rant, the game I mentioned was township
I will eventually get the YouTube black video, fingerprint hardware and camera in use glitches sooner or later even if I don't open the game, it's just a sure fire way to trigger it
I also tend to get the YouTube glitch as soon as the fingerprint glitch appears
Is there any other details you need?
What are the glitches that you mentioned? ''get the YouTube black video''?
There's another threat in this box suggesting that flashing a patched kernel fixed most of your problems. Be sure to check it out and be more specific on your ''glitches''.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z5/help/fingerprint-scanner-video-recording-t3630726
Sorry, the main glitches I encounter (that all happen at the same time) is the fingerprint scanner stops functioning, the camera functionality stops (no pictures or video, app acts like it's being used by another process) and any video playback is just a black screen, but I still have audio playback and control over skipping through to various times
Will this be an issue flashing onto nougat? I didn't see mention of anything past mm

Try flashing a patched kernel.
I'd suggest a factory reset (if you haven't unlocked your bootloader) or a full swipe (including system) in twrp (if you have unlocked your bootloader) and reflash the newest build.
If the problems still persist, i think it's best to have your phone checked for hardware problems.
And no, it's not a Nougat problem.
Good luck with your phone.
