I mean, Amazon Shopping?!?
Today I received a notification about a new update. I clicked on the notification and I've seen that it needed to update the system installer. All happy thinking maybe Sony fixed some last bugs in 5.1.1 (I am not following much anymore) I installed the update, went back into Software Update in Settings, refreshed and.. what I've got? AMAZON SHOPPING!! Which I disabled from What's New and now it's in the System updates!!
Is Sony kidding us? Moving bloatware in the system SW update tool? It feels.. even offensive. Bah.

Hi, I updated to official Mango yesterday, but Marketplace seems not to know about it. I'm still stuck with 7.0 apps, which I wasn't offered to update to their Mango versions. I'm not able to install Mango-only apps such as HTC Connected Media, I'm not getting HTC Attentive Phone update etc...
Is there any solution to force Marketplace to offer me Mango apps? THX
Look for the app in the marketplace, and you can update it there.
I hope marketplace will offer it automatically for all together soon, so i don't have to do it one by one.
Thank you, but that's pretty obious. But it's just a workaround, not a real solution, as I expect that auto-updating via Marketplace won't ever work in the future.
I even tried hr, but Zune did not installed my apps back. So I installed them manually and will wait for any updates - if they come or not.
I have the same issue, no notification for app updates are showing up after installing Mango (forced with the disconnect trick). I don't know if it's because of the forcing the update or just a general issue. But I definitely have apps installed that have a Mango version available.
What is also annoying & strange is that the Marketplace is still in French (I'm from Belgium) where it should have been in Dutch for me since Mango was released.
If anyone knows the cause / solution I would be very grateful.
Thanks !

No one is able to install these updates, just wait.
I didn't see any update notifications until I enabled my data service on my phone. Then literally, seconds after. 9 new updates.
This happened while I was on vacation, had wifi on in many places, but when I got back home at the airport, data on. Found a bunch of updates waiting to be installed.
That's a serious problem.
It's almost a nightmare.
Now and then I see a "1" on the samsung apps icon.
That should mean that 1 app (previously downloaded from Samsung App) has been updated and I could update it through Samsung Apps in the page of my downloaded files.
That's how it should work.
Recently I've been receiving these kind of notification also for apps that I never downloaded from Samsung Apps and that so didn't show up on my downloaded files. With some luck I discovered that some of these updates where referred to pre-installed apps on my GNote 10.1 such as Polaris Office and PS Touch: searching for these apps and opening their page I could see the "update" button.
But for the last update notification I don't know where to look.
It seems that something is missing in Samsung Apps. They tell you that you have an update but they don't tell you what update you have, and there's no way to find out and trig the update.
Any suggestion?

I understand, that's annoying - I got that 1 "red" icon on Samsung App box yesterday updated the app and thankfully that 1 "red" icon is gone. I hope you figure it out soon - good luck
I'm glad that I didn't start using that Samsung app... I actually disabled the app

same problem on my devices. I think it's belong to uninstalled apps. It's annoying but nothing tragically. You install app again, update, uninstall...but every time with update till Samsung repair it.

same here... trued all possible pre-installed apps, but nothing...
in addition I also had a PS Touch update that was not notified...
personally I have disabled most of the samsung apps (like the Hubs) but I will keep Samsung Apps cos I like both Poalris and PS Touch
I've finally found out the mysterious app that was notified (as updated) but wasn't showed in my page od Samsung Apps.
It's Papyrus.
Strange thing is that this is not a pre-installed app.
It's actually present in both Google Play and Samsung Apps.
I think I downloaded it a couple of weeks ago from Google Play (but I'm not sure about that, maybe I downloaded it from Samsung Apps).
Anyway yesterday Samsung Apps started notifying me about an update, even if not showing me what app was to update as Papyrus wasn't present in the Samsung Apps page of my downloaded apps.
So I hope that Samsung Apps will become more smart and clear in the future.
Anyway the mysterious apps that showed up in the last days with a 1 red circle and didn't show on the Samsung Apps page for being actually updated are (so far):
- Polaris Office
- Photoshop Touch
- Papyrus
(maybe this list can help someone else and also be "updated" - no pun intended - by other users)
After "finding" them and updating them now they are in my downloaded apps page so the problem won't probably occur again (at least not with these apps).
AAAArrrrgggghhhh
I spoke too soon.... and the infamous nasty and vengeful "1-red circle" has come back again!!!! Just after a few hours of a new sense of carefree freedom... it was too good to be true....
What's the app to update? Where is it? Where? where? where?
I'm beginning to think that you can't beat it.:crying:
If I only had the gut to swipe Samsung Apps and all the apps offered by it away (as some wise guy has already done...)
(but I need and like a couple of apps that are there and nowhere else...)
Any further help?
Reading this topic I found out that there are some updates that can only be done with Samsung apps, so I updateded them. Now if I open Samsung apps I also have the red notification, but it does not bother me in any way because I rarely open this. I think it's a bug with the app, so until they fix it I'll just check manually for updates on the two apps from Samsung.

Have you noticed that there is an in app purchase that allows you to draw shapes and type text in papyrus?
Tried to purchase using Samsung apps on note 10.1 but does not let me. I tried to buy on my phone and it let me pay by carrier i.e. will be charged to my phone bill. The stupid thing is with Samsung apps you have to purchase the in app on each device. It does not let me download/apply to the note 10.1
Last time I buy any apps from Samsung.

Last update
My updates "red-circle" counter was 2 this morning. :crying:
But, rather magically and serendipitously, today I managed to return to the "no red circle" status.
What were the updates I did need to make?
These 2:
Polaris Office
AllShare Play
Mysteriously AllShare Play appeared for the first time on the "My page - Downloads" with an update button (I suppose this is a pre-installed app as I never downloaded it before). After updating it it disappeared again from the "My page - Downloads" but the update red cirlce counter was also decreased by 1.
Then, updating Polaris Office made the counter come back to zero.
Another quirk instance is with Papyrus.
I've updated it through Google Play to version 0.3 (there is called "Papyrus beta")
In SamsungApps it's reported as version 0.2.4 (there's called "Papyrus").
After the update through Google Play I lost the possibility (that I had before) to buy, as an in-app purchasing, the Tool Pack, that, as I understand, is an exclusive of Samsung Apps (see the FAQ in Papyrus "Settings-Help and Support".
So, as far as I can tell, the sharing of the same app between Google Play and Samsung can be another real nightmare...
Furthermore my experience seems to confirm that the notification process for Samsung pre-installed apps is very buggy and ridden with unpredictable delays .

I just opened up the Play store and saw the "We've changed a few things..." message. Change is a tough sell for me, especially because I am a firm believer of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." Anyway, I actually like the new layout and all, but I noticed that this new version has at least one change that will have me rolling back to the old one.
Unless I missed it somewhere, we no longer have the option to pick and choose which of our apps get automatically updated.
Bummer.
Now, we have 3 options that get applied to ALL the downloaded apps on your device: Auto-Update Apps, Do Not Auto-Update Apps, or Only Update Apps on Wi-Fi.
I'm hoping someone will call me a n00b and tell me where I can change this setting for individual apps.
Otherwise, this sucks and I'm reinstalling the previous version.
Thanks in advance, HOPEFULLY.

Well I am in even worse state now. I have two Androids (well actually three) in any case I managed my apps form my browser. It allowed me to select which apps go on which device and to uninstall apps that way as well. With the new setup I have no idea how to do that any more. If I click on "my apps" it shows all apps with no indication on which device or any option to uninstall the app. I hope I am missing something or that Google fixes this.
Cheers,
Hans
Hi guys,
Videotron is a carrier in Canada specific to Quebec and has released a User Center app replacing a nearly perfect Mobile Usage app. It has loads of features but requires signing-in. I was pretty unhappy about the update as I do not need the new features and I enjoyed the hassle free usage check provided by the Mobile Usage app. Luckily, I backed-up the APK before the update.
Seeing that the reviews on the Play Store pretty much reflect my opinion about it, I wanted to make it available for others who do not have their phone rooted or just didn't think of backing up the APK.
Cheers,
Morphlin
Anyone have luck with the install?
I downloaded it but its always ends up as 'not installed' (after running the installer) as an error (and it isn't)
Is it because the stupid user centre is still there?
Any suggestions?

Hi.
Is it just something wrong in my phone or with the app. According to the app, I used no data at all since November 24...
My phone is a Moto X Play XT1563 (lux), running Android 6.0.1, unrooted.
I installed nothing new in November or December. I did not change settings, configs or whatever.
So I uninstalled then reinstalled the app. Now it's working again !
Anyone else had this problem ? or maybe its just a random bug in my phone.
Thanks for any answers or comments.
As of Feb 7th, 2020 still no play store security update ...any one else seeing this?
These things are usually rolled out progressively, like OTAs are. The latest (18.6.43) was released two days ago.

Yes, both are staged rollouts. However, OTA updates can be "forced" by manually pressing the "Check for update" button, which sadly doesn't work for Google Play system update.

If you are talking about the Google play system update, it was mentioned on the security bulletin page that this month there is none... Weirdly i just checked now and got one, but i guess its just a number bump.
Btw you can check for updates if you just press on it in the settings page (see the attached pic)
About the playstore version, yes its a staged rollout, don't worry if you don't have the latest version. Also the playstore (app) version has nothing to do with the "google play system update" those are 2 different things.

I really don't think pressing "Check for update" forces anything. Updating to the February security patch yesterday via the ADB method. Tried your way before, nada.
I have been updating like this since I got the Pixel 3a and it always worked on the first day when the update was released.
The button used to be "placebo" effect before, but then they fixed it with a certain version of the Google Play Services about a year ago.
