[Q] Marketplace won't update apps for Mango - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I updated to official Mango yesterday, but Marketplace seems not to know about it. I'm still stuck with 7.0 apps, which I wasn't offered to update to their Mango versions. I'm not able to install Mango-only apps such as HTC Connected Media, I'm not getting HTC Attentive Phone update etc...
Is there any solution to force Marketplace to offer me Mango apps? THX

Look for the app in the marketplace, and you can update it there.
I hope marketplace will offer it automatically for all together soon, so i don't have to do it one by one.

Thank you, but that's pretty obious. But it's just a workaround, not a real solution, as I expect that auto-updating via Marketplace won't ever work in the future.
I even tried hr, but Zune did not installed my apps back. So I installed them manually and will wait for any updates - if they come or not.

I have the same issue, no notification for app updates are showing up after installing Mango (forced with the disconnect trick). I don't know if it's because of the forcing the update or just a general issue. But I definitely have apps installed that have a Mango version available.
What is also annoying & strange is that the Marketplace is still in French (I'm from Belgium) where it should have been in Dutch for me since Mango was released.
If anyone knows the cause / solution I would be very grateful.
Thanks !

No one is able to install these updates, just wait.

I didn't see any update notifications until I enabled my data service on my phone. Then literally, seconds after. 9 new updates.
This happened while I was on vacation, had wifi on in many places, but when I got back home at the airport, data on. Found a bunch of updates waiting to be installed.
That's a serious problem.

[Q] Can't install purchased app

Hi all.
I've been enjoying the Assassin's Creed game trial over the past few weeks and decided to purchase the full game over the Zune client.
However I can't seem to get it onto my phone - each time I launch the game it tells me I am still using the trial. There is only tile for it in the Xbox LIVE hub, and I have tried restarting my phone and connecting it to my PC, with apparently no change. I've also checked in my updates list and the game isn't listed there.
Totally baffled, any suggestions?
Did you already try uninstalling the app and reinstalling it from the MarketPlace. You won't be charged twice; the MarketPlace will recognize you already bought the game.
Cheers Stingray, that seems to have worked!
Do you know if this is a common problem?

The Marketplace in its current form has several bugs, some related to the Trial mode. One of the most prominent ones being that you (often) cannot update an application that you have installed in trial mode. The update process seems to work just fine, but the update never actually gets installed and Marketplace will keep telling you there's an update.
As for your particular issue, I haven't experienced that one myself. But when things go wrong you can often solve it by uninstalling/reinstalling the app. The only disadvantage of this solution is that you probably lose your application's settings or some in-app data (save games, downloads, in-app purchases, etc.).
By the way, this isn't a Windows Phone specific solution. Works for iPhone/iPad/Android too
Also Microsoft has promised to fix some MarketPlace bugs in the coming January/February update.

App Updates

In a previous thread I posted a question about Voice Search which was eventually resolved once I updated to the latest version. Going thru the apps on my Phone I found the following stock to be older than what is available on the market:
1) Google Maps
2) Facebook
3) Voice Search.
and
AT&T Code Scanner (But the update fails with a message about invalid package sign).
I have auto sync on and background data as well but the update was never shown as available and had to got thru most stock apps and verify I have the latest; have you guys seen something like this? If you haven't, check and update the above apps.
Having same issue
I haven't seen a single app update for last 7~8 days.
I used to have a rooted Evo and it was typical to have 1~2 apps that had updates on a daily basis.
Does AT&T have power to restrict updates?

I got an update to Floating Image today. I think it's just that the popular apps in the Android Market are becoming more mature and stable and don't need as many updates as they used to.
Found the same apps had updates available from Market on my Inspire within the first few days after upgrading (picked up on Feb 13th at local AT&T Store). I figured it was the situation of these apps being installed in the factory, then boxed and shipped to stores before updates were available.

[Q] How can I retrieve my Google Maps update to version 5.5.0?

Today as soon as I opened my Android Market app in my HTC Desire, it showed me that and update for Google Maps version 5.5.0 is available. And I was able to update it without any problem.
But later I did a factory reset of my phone because the Mobile security in my phone was malfunctioning (not because of new google maps) from last few days due to some unknown reasons.
After reset I was expecting to get the google maps updated automatically, but unfortunately it did not. I am afraid why it is so?
I was eagerly waiting for the update form last so many months, and finally when I got it, I lost it even before I could explore it nicely.
Please tell me I you have any idea how can I retrieve my update to version 5.5.0? Or any suggestions related to the matter.
Thanks a lot.
Dunno, go to the market, find Google Maps and tap on update? What am I missing here?
the thing is that it first has to register that you haven't updated google maps - after downloading it today, they registered on the server that you had already recieved it.
best thing to do is to go to market.google.com and try there to download google maps there; it will check the version and when it sees the old version, will override to update!
Got market enabler from market, fake provider like T-Mobile, install as usual.

Marketplace down?

I can browse the market but when I try to download and app it says:
Service Not Available
Marketplace isn't available at the moment.
Please check back in a bit.
Error code: 805a01f4
Anybody else having this issue?
I have the "Info not available at the moment. Check back in a little while" error.
I believe they are updating the market to add the apps that were put on hold.

Not available!
Hi all
So, it seems to be up again but for lots of apps (some that were showing as available this morning) are now showing as not available. I get a message saying that the software may need to be updated, or not available in my region.
Anybody?

[Q] Marketplace doesn't search for updates

Hi. I have just searched all threads and I haven't found any solution about my problem.
So, I have WP7.5 (latest version 7740) and my Marketplace doesn't show any updates. But when I find app (I know that has udpate) only then update information on Marketplace's tile shows. Could someone help me?
Bug
It seems to be a bug in operating system...
Sometimes updates appear on its own, and sometimes u need to manually find app in marketplace then it will show update available
Hey so I had the same problem with Marketplace not automatically notifying me of app updates. And even when I went to the apps manually it doesn't give me the option to update, only to share.
I heard you could hard reset your phone but then most people wouldn't want that since it erases all your info and settings. You could also uninstall the app and then install again.
Anyways, I think I've found a solution where you don't have to do a hard reset nor do you have to uninstall the app, so you keep your settings.
1) first you have to download the APPFLOW app, which is an app to browse apps. It's better than the Marketplace anyways so most people already have this app.
2) then just search for the app that you know has an update in APPFLOW.
3) click download from there and it will take you to the Marketplace to download
4) but now, the Marketplace will show you the option to Update that specific app.
** So this fix is still manual and you have to know which apps have an update but it beats hard resetting or reinstalling.
Hopefully Microsoft will fix this in their next major update.
