[Completed] Anyway to restore WhatsApp chats to new number, without having access to old number? - XDA Assist

Hey I have a bit of a complicated issue. Basically my dad recently left the company he's working at. Over there they supplied him with a company phone (Samsung S3) and a company SIM card, upon leaving he was asked to return the SIM card but not the phone. He had a lot of personal conversations saved on the phone/whatsapp account which he saved to google drive before he wiped the phone (he thought that the company would ask for it back and so he chose to erase all data). Now that he's been allowed to keep the phone, he'd like to restore all the chats he previously had, however they are attached to the old (company) SIM card, meaning that when he verifies his new number on the app, he is not given the option to restore backed up chats even though they are saved on his google drive.
Put short, he has the chats saved on google drive, however he isn't prompted to restore them because he's using a new mobile number.
Is there any way to restore the old chats without having access to the old whatsapp number (because he has already returned his SIM card).

[Q] how to back up / restore weixin / wechat

message history lost - happened once or twice before - on this round perhaps due to unauthorized access - don't know why anyone would want to hack to my wechat, but...
yes, i know that titanium backup can do this - only, i happen to have a backup of the app's files from the SD card that's much later than the latest titanium backup.
so i've overwritten the message directory on the SD card
\tencent\MicroMsg\b51e1101d48c856d9e55dceeb6ea2af5\*.*
with the latest backup, but the app doesn't recognize the stuff between the titanium backup / the later files. how to force it to? how does it manage these files anyway?
(the answer to this might also help in managing the app's thousands of files in order to keep the phone functioning.)
have a try?
not knowing why your wechat got hacked, maybe you`ve got spyed by ur enemies?
I accidentally downloaded Clean Master from gp,(sorry as a new member, i`m not allowed to post a link here)
and it works well on both protecting my privacy and do the cache cleaning.
have a try?
hacking is a separate issue

Hi, have you manage to solve the problem? Im now facing roughly the same problem. I checked the wechat directory, all my conversation and voice msgs are still there. But my new installed wechat just could not recognize it, and show a blank new wechat with no chat history whatever.
How to force it to recognize it? Thanks

turns out that the message history is NOT on the files that are on the sd card - the sd card files are thumbnails, pictures, whatnot for the visual content. the messages are in an (encrypted) sqlite database on the phone's internal flash storage.
i do not know of what logic, if any, the app uses to either open the existing database (if found) or creating a new one - i've seen it do both, despite my always wanting to use the same account / database.
if i recall right, i just bit the bullet and restored the app/data from my titanium backup, thus losing a few days of messages as that backup was not up to date.
or - on the recent versions you can backup to tencent servers / restore from there - i guess primary use for that is when moving to a new phone. they only keep the backup file 7 days, and don't let you access it locally.
as for how to access the message database in a readable format, please let me know if you figure it out - weixin (at least the old version that i'm using) destroys any device it's on by not performing any housekeeping and thus clogging all the pipes until nothing works. so would be great if the message database could be optimized/cleaned/delete oldest by an extrernal sqlite app.
(the image files you CAN delete from your sd card - which i do periodically to kill the old ones.)

Is it possible to back up wechat messages
I want to permatenantly back up wechat messages, because all messages will lost after I re-install wechat
well, that's currently very hard to do, because tencent doesn't give you (unencrypted) access to the SQL database that contains your messages, even if you use the backup functionality in the later versions of the software.
you CAN permanently backup your messages by copying the database from your phone's flash-memory (probably needs a rooted phone). but you can't access your data due to the encryption.
someone needs to write a 3rd party app that cracks the encryption (which is easy for a geek on the know, as the encryption key is based on some device iD string on your phone). then you could actually see your messages and manage them. probably some chinaman already wrote this app, we just don't know of it.
but message history does NOT get lost on re-install (at least for me) if you install over the old install, not from scratch. or, if you've backed up your messages using the apps function for that, you can restore them from their server.
but over time weixin will destroy any device it's on as the database size and image files number grow too big for your portable gadget to handle. no real housecleaning functions are available.
I miss in wechat 1 feature. Restore of mobile chat log TO windows wechat version.
We can restore mobile chat history to new mobile but WE CAN'T restore mobile chat history to windows wechat program, or can we?
It would be cool to be able to browse my mobile wechat chat history on windows pc. As it is now, my archive is empty, lacking past conversations.
And mobile scrolling to past conversations with certain people is troublesome. It has no proper archive oh right so mb an archive in mobile too?!
Hi all
Would you please help me to unblock my wechat account?
Many thanks in advance
I need old wechat user. At least 6 months account old.

if i understand correctly, you want to piggybag onto an account someone else created. likely not available, even if the other user wanted to sell his/her account, as they in most cases require real-person verification these days.
but you might try to buy an account in taobao, usually everything is available there.
Thanks for your response..
No my brother... I need "friend help login"

[Completed] Deleted whatsapp, have new number - can I still restore old messages?? (I ****ed up)

Hi everyone,
My situation:
I got a new phone and wanted to migrate my Whatsapp History over. Thought I did it right and already deleted Whatsapp off my old phone, but ****ed up with the migration.
I did do the Whatsapp Google Drive Backup just before I deleted Whatsapp off the old phone, plus I downloaded the latest msgstore.db.crypt8 backup file from the Whatsapp Backup folder.
Problem:
My Whatsapp was registered under my old phone number thats long been disconnected. Now when I reinstall Whatsapp on my phone, I cannot get into my old account, because for that I need to receive Whatsapps 6-digit confirmation code on that old phone number, which obviously I can't.
If I create an account with my new number, Whatsapp does recognize the Google Drive Backup that I did earlier in the day (2GB), but fails to restore that, probably because I'm not logged in with the same phone number that the backup was originally created with.
I have about 4+ Years of messages that are very important to me - is there any way to fix this?
Thanks for any suggestions!!

Hi
You can use apps like SmartSwitch
If by chat you mean Whatsapp , the app itself it gives you the option to back up
Hi
i mean Naver LINE app
I've tried this and it does not restore LINE data (eg contacts and chat history). It just copies the app
Has no one an idea/solution on this?
if you are rooted titanium backup can help.
Titanium backup is not working with Line. It's not possible to save chat data, but all your contacts, bought items, groups will be loaded from you account on your new device.
you can make backup of your chats in Lineapp. in every chat seperatly. makes zip on sd-card/line_backup or so

How to store and retrieve contacts Samsung Galaxy Express 3 J120A ?

Hi,
I have a Samsung Galaxy Express 3 J120A and would like to be able to store the contacts information online, and update it when I want to or have it do it automatically however that would work, and then be able to load it onto another phone when I want to. Can anyone tell me how to do that or suggest a tutorial explaining how to do it? I have more than one of that type phone and want to move the sim card from one to another to get familiar with and practice doing things like this. Also hopefully to use one phone for a few weeks and update it, then do the same with another, and then a third, and then go back to the first one and hopefully it will retain some of the info so it will only need some updating... Will that work? Also there's a micro SD card I plan to move along with the sim card. Service is with AT&T if that matters much.
Thank you for any help learning this stuff!
David
You're best off creating all new contacts as Google Contacts, so that when you add the Google account on another device, all the contacts are synced to any device using that account.
You can then remove the contacts on the SIM card and anytime you add a contact on one device under that Google account, it'll sync and appear on the others using that same account.
Backup
Backup all your contacts to a Excell sheet or to the Google contacts. This can help you to retrieve all your details from anywhere at any time.

Back up android data (on old/current phone) w/o logging in to google acct on old phone

I need to know is there any way/app/program that I can back up ALL of my stuff on my Motorola g6 Play, without having to specifically use google or my google acct in any way, so I can transfer to my new Motorola G Power...
Backstory & Details quick history...
Jan 2022 my google acct was hacked. Google never sent me notification until after they had already changed my recovery info & put 2-factor, etc. I have tried EVERY thing I've came across to possibly work, to no avail. Google made it very clear they care less if ppl w/an acct 10+ years, who can verify every single detail abbout their acct, get hacked or not, even when there is online visa card $ sitting in the email folders. In fact they roll out the red carpet for the foreigner hackers (apparently wasnt too pro because the hacker forgot to sign me out of all browsers. I jumped on my 2nd pc browser, accessed acct for a few minutes including have a screenshot of what they used as a verification phone, in isreal, the recovery email they changed it to, & more. However when I tried to change my recovery info back, it wanted my new password. About 3 hours later they realized & logged me out.) & dont care to let you into your acct. [sorry for rant - touchy subject, lol]
I never put another google acct on the phone, I just cant sign in my google anywhere. My data is apparently saved locally, because its still on phone just as always.
I just got a new motorola g power for Christmas. Of course since I still havent regained access to my original acct, I know I'll have to use another acct to set it up. HOWEVER, I desperately need to save/transfer all my data from my current phone (with the non-accessible hacked acct) to new one. Obviously cant backup to anything that makes me login my acct such as my google drive, etc.
Is there ANY program or app that would backup everything, & then let me restore it on my new phone w/new google acct???

Without root and an external SD card....no. Apps such as Swift Backup or TItanium Backup can back up all user apps, but because of SELinux and scoped storage, what data a particular app can access is very limited - only certain system data (call logs, texts, etc) and common data (internal/external storage) is accessible; an app cannot access other apps' private information.
The only way to get around this is root.
However, you may be able to login to a new Google account on your existing phone, log out of the old one, and set the new account to be used for sync; once your information is backed up to the new account, you can then login on the new device, and transfer most of your data.
Keep in mind that this still won't transfer app data - while it will restore the apps you have installed, it can't transfer app data from the old phone.
