Hello,
My phone can be charged though usb , but can't be used to transfer data.
If somebody can help me undestand.
PHONE IS NOT ROOTED
What i've tried:
1. Using all combinations posible with the *#0808# code.
2. Reinstalling another firmware with ODIN - XEF , BTU , etc.
3.Trying another cable/cables
4.Trying connecting to other PCs
5. Tried to connect with ADB in RECOVERY MODE
6. Tried SAFE MODE
7. Tried Debugging mode
I've used USBDeview - small utility that lists all USB devices that currently connected to your computer, as well as all USB devices that you previously used.
THE DEVICE CAN BE DETECTED IN ODIN MODE , TRIED INSTALLING VARIOUS FIRMWARES in DOWNLOAD MODE
Any advice please , post it here.
I'm disperate because i can't understand why it does work in DOWNLOAD MODE .
Did you try a factory reset?

Also check in Developer options, under networking, USB configuration, that Charge Only is not selected.

Yeah, unfortunately, it sounds like a hardware problem. Hopefully it's still under warranty.
Good luck.

I have rooted many phones but DO NOT consider myself an expert in any way but after countless hours on the search, I am just STUCK And seriously frustrated. Here is my complicated story.
I was rooted but without a custom ROM. In the progress upgraded to 4.3 OTA. Since then my phone has been on the decline...the WI-FI does not turn on, the GPS is erratic, and now I cannot connect via USB to anything.
I have done everything imaginable and suggested to my PC (WIN8) as well as the phone. I cannot connect via ODIN nor KIES as I cannot get the USB to work.
In ODIN Mode I have:
PRODUCT NAME: SCH-I535
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: Yes (1 counts)
CURRENT BINARY: Custom
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
QUALCOMM SECUREBOOT: Enable
WARRANTY BIT: 1
BOOTLOADER RP SWREV: 1
I would prefer to downgrade although I have read this is not an option at this point.
to have functional Wi-Fi and USB connectivity would be great to have again.
Please help!!!
Is my phone considered to be SOFT-Bricked?
Try a new cable and/or a different USB port.
Also kies3 is required. The old kies will not connect to any 4.3 or higher android device. Make sure you have the latest drivers as well

Also make sure you have USB debugging on. Go to settings and about phone. Tap on the version several timea and it will bring out the developer options.

Go on kies make sure your phone in UNplugged then click connection trouble shoot. Same thing was happening to me on windows 8 so I temporarily went back to 7. It looks like the drivers get messed up if you go from lets say the download mode drivers to the normal drivers. It seemed like every time before I connected my phone I had to do that.

Thanks for the reply and suggestions.
I have tried three different cables, installed Kies 3, two different computer and multiple ports on both systems with all the phone settings as suggested. I now get the following message when connected to the USB cable: USB Device not recognized. Device malfunctioned and Windows (8) does not recognize it. I have removed all software, reinstalled phone drivers.
Sooo frustrating!

Why do you want to connect to kies? It has 4.1.2 it will always fail the flash for us 4.3 people. Use the Verizon updater or odin. Just a fyi kies will never say it recognizes the phone in downloadmode.

My problem is I cannot get the computer to recognize the phone. I have tried using the code to get into Qualcomm PhoneUtils but I guess I am not sure if that applies to my model phone. This would allow me to confirm the USB settings (MTB?) of the phone.
At this point, any connection would be a HUGE step forward.
Thanks for your help.

Yes, the phone is operational; that is to say it makes and receives calls. The Wi-Fi does not turn on and the GPS is very erratic. I have not found any other problems yet, but I am sure that they must be others....

That sucks at least you can make calls. Hope you figure it out. Maybe it has something to do with your warranty bit.

Just one more thought. I know you said you tried everything but did you try a factory reset then on first login when Google asks to import saved data like WiFi settings uncheck the box?

I've read instruction's from the web on rooting my Samsung Galaxy Tap 2.
First, the instructions mention to allow USB debugging but I find no setting for this in my apps menu.
I was also instructed to put the device in download mode but the device got stuck at Downloading.... for around 15 minutes until I restarted by holding the volume up and power.
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
James
Usb debugging is in developer option- toggle the switch on.Scroll down. You will see usb debugging.
And how you try to root the phone? Using odin? Hit a thanks if I helped you!

I failed to install the Samsung drivers.
The device is rooted now.
Now what?
Where do I find tools for the rooted device?
Where do I get custom roms?
You getting usb device not recognized error? You using desktop or laptop? And please mention the os. Try reconnecting the usb to other ports.windows 7 installs drivers automatically. I am not sure about mac. If its desktop try connecting to back usb ports. Try changing usb cables. There are lots of issues with usb cables and smartphones.no one knows what it is..

If you want cm11. You can download it from www.get.cm from your phone and follow the imstructions..
Its the easiest way for rooting and installing custom roms. It automatically detects device, roots, install recovery and roms.. Most of them are stable too..

I wasn't getting an error.
In Odin I clicked PDM and selected the auto root file.
When I would click Start nothing happened.
Finally, after installing the correct drivers for my device it worked fine.
I'm using Windows 8.1. on a desktop.
The device isn't a phone, it's a tablet.
Just not sure what tools will be helpful.
Also need to know haw to flash a combatable rom.
Ok.Cyanogen mod supports p3100. Hope yours is the same. Go to www.get.cm from your tablet. And download the apk file or switch into usb debugging. After that go to www.get.cm from your computer. Download the cm installer for pc. Open it. It will take a few minutes to setup upgrading and other process. When it asks to connect your tab or phone. Make sure you have a back up of all.Connect it in usb debugging mode. It will detect your device and download latest recovery, rom and system apps. After downloading everything.it asks for install. It automatically loads downloding mode. You don't even have to press volume, power and all stuffs. Actually just connect your tab and relax.:beer: That's all....

Or you could manually choose a rom. Check this http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-2/7-inch-development and choose one you want. Before that. You need to flash recovery if you are doing it manually. To flash recovery download rom manager from play store. It gets you the latest recovery. You can also make a backup of your current rom using that tool.

*pull the battery and entering download mode several times
PLEAAAAAAASE HELP :crying::crying::crying:
Try installing the google USB drivers. They are normally installed with the android SDK. Maybe they can help you detect the phone or you can try to manually update the driver.

as i mentioned above sir , the phone is recognized when it is ON but the problem occurs when i go to download mode . i think it is not concerned with the drivers
Have a look at this soft-brick help guide. If your phone is not even able to enter the Recovery Mode, you may have a case of NAND rw corruption and recovery may not even be possible (you may have to look at hard unbrick scenarios).
Having said that, these are a few things I might have still tried if I were you:
1. If you have access to a Linux PC or a bootable Ubuntu drive, start it and see whether it recognizes your phone using the lsusb command. It will help you to rule out any driver issues.
2. Try to drain the battery (by keeping a long time in that welcome screen) and then do a fresh recharge and then try again.

I wanted to fix this tablet because its not booting anymore, its stuck at the logo. things that i tryed.:

2. i tryed to unlock USB debugging but that fail. because ADB is not regonizing my tablet, even with the USB drivers installed.
3. i tryed to use the programm called SkipSoft ToolKit, but this tool kit is also using ADB. and like i sad ADB is not finding my tabelt.

this didnt help me at all, becuase i already searched the XDA forum and google.
i think i need to enable USB debugging with my pc. but that's not working
Stock rom via odin does not need usb debug.
Suggest a service center repair if you have read all the no boot threads.

i am not a phone geek. i'm frustrated at the difficulty in getting a clear answer as to how to unbrick my G550T after getting "Custom binary blocked by FRP lock."
I've attempted approx 5 different "SOLVED" methods, none to any avail.
I know i'm not permanently bricked - i've been through this before. someone, please help???
I've downloaded Odin but it won't see my phone even when i boot my phone into DL mode.
Please help, someone?
Have you installed the samsung USB drivers? Tried different USB ports and/or cables.
You're on the right track here. Flashing stock firmware should solve it.

Try uninstalling any of these if you have them:
1) Kies
2) Smart Switch
3) Samsung USB drivers
Then reinstall just the drivers and try Odin again.
Make sure it's a stock USB cord
Try different USB ports (i.e. 2.0, 3.0)
Try a different PC

Kies can interfere with Odin, all you need is your stock firmware file, the USB drivers and Odin.
