Are there good ROMs for the Galaxy S6 with exynos5 CPU ? - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
ive a chance to grab a Galaxy S6, 32GB for a good price. But a friend of mine told me, that most ROMs are for the S6 with the snapdragon CPU. Thisone I can buy has a exynos5 CPU.
Can anybody confirm that this information is right?
I would like to test this ROM and that Kernel if I buy that phone. But Im unsure if it will work, because of this CPU-thing. Cant see any CPU-restrictions in the ROM-thread.
THX for any help.

What is the model # of the phone? SM-G920/925 then a letter?
I know of no S6 with a Snapdragon. Full specs: http://m.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s6-6849.php

And Galaxy S6 uses Exynos7 (7420) chipset as a processor, not exynos5. Don't try to search a ROM for "Exynos5" cuz' ROMs that you find will probably be dangerous for your device because of not being appropriate for Galaxy S6.

And you can use these of course. They will work really well on your device. I used to use them once upon a time. No problem will occur, I hope. There's no problem with your CPU.

making many roms lately, hoping to get it out soon
Could you give us some details about this rom please??
It doesn't even boot.
Details? nah.
There is a reason why this tablet has caused so many to run into walls - it has an alien (in many ways) configuration compared to every other Samsung tablet - even the Galaxy Tab 2 that it replaced. The T4 used the Marvell PXA1088 SoC. While there were two Wi-fi versions (T230NU and T235NU), they are not identical - nor can one take the firmware of the other; the T235 has a Lollipop firmware available - the more common T230NU does not.

Help determining if I can root my S7

I have a S7 from US Cellular Model SM-930R4 Android version 7 Build# NRD90M.G930R4TYU4BQE1 Hardware version REV0.6. From what I have researched in here I am thinking I cannot root it but I wanted to make sure of that before I give up. Since Samsung pushed the latest update a couple weeks ago the phone has been lagging really bad so I wanted to try another version. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi mate
All snapdragon S7 can be rooted , there are several guides , this is one of them:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ve...-to-notes-root-install-xposed-unroot-t3411039
But better ask there to make sure , this is the Exynos S7 forum

S8+ Roms 'scene'

Hey guys, I am planning on getting the S8+ and Ive been looking around Xda for Roms for it but there are not a lot of them(stable neither) so my question is why are there not so many Roms and how is the future looking? I always root my phones and like to experiment, so should I buy it?
Thanks in advance, Ray
Which s8+ do you have?

I live in Germany so which ever one is sold here (european)
If you like testing ROMs go with OnePlus 5T, i'm also thinking about switching.
OnePlus 5T is a good choice if you want to use developer apps and sideload mods, tweaks, roms.. etc.
I think if you go with a Exynos processor S8(international variant) you should be ok, as is it has been rooted fully already.
Check this post out for a list of different S8+ variants.

The Snapdragon processor hasn't been fully rooted like the Exynos version. So make sure you get the right model for your location.

Not that it matters in this case but your statement is not accurate. We do have root and it's stable. What we don't have is an unlocked bootloader which the Exynos version DOES have.

Quite so. If you didn't already do it you could head over to Cross Dev or the S8+ ROM forums and see what's available there.
Presently the vast majority are modded Touchwiz-based ROMs, which are quite excellent and offer great customization/battery life etc. If you are specifically keen on LOS-based (or other non-Touchwiz) ROMs there are very few under development, but it seems like quite a way to go yet.

j700T variant ROMs?

I know there is a dedicated SM-J700T (T-Mobile&MetroPCS) variant forum, although I am seeing a new releases for the j7 2015 exynos .
Would that not cover the 700T? Same chipset.
Cannot get a straight answer, and haven't tried flashing one... yet..

Hey buddy here's it straight... They do not work.
They randomly reboot after one min. They don't work at all, unless u flash one of our nougat kernels. Working on some ports right now. There was a huge porting issue and we almost got it. Some of the MM roms worked fine if you flashed mina kernel after installing. With nougat it's different, even slightly, so they don't work right.
Thanks for the reply.

I'll see if I can track it down. I'd love to help you since we have the same phone. The initial results I get are showing the J737P as using an Exynos chipset. Is there a snapdragon variant?

I believe it. I found 4 results in geekbench, that say its a Universal7885, which I'm finding is the Exynos 7885. Samsung has 3 variants listed on their website. (Virgin, Sprint, Boost) Just says 8 core, 2gb ram under the specs. No cpu listed, of course... I will definitely keep an eye out. I'm also finding information that claims a T-Mobile variant exists. No solid info on a cpu anywhere, except maybe Geekbench. They've been wrong about what device I have numerous times though, so I'm taking them with a grain of salt. I would not be surprised to see a snapdragon among one of the variants.
