Migrate apps from Sony Xperia A to S7 - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hello!
I just received my new Samsung S7 (930F) and I would like to get as many app as possible restored on my new phone, with minimal amount of effort
I am used to titanium backup, but this app requires root. XZ is rooted, S7 is not. S7 is my work phone, provided by my company,so ... not sure if I can have it rooted. I understood that this cannot be really reverted (knox, ...) which could be an issue sooner or later.
I tried Helium, but I was not able to get it working with XZ with the desktop app, not recognized. I will do another try with backup & restore.... But if you have any advice, if I am wrong with root, etc... feel free to give me any information which could be useful to help me on this question !
Thanks for your help !

For rooted phone don't need the desktop app for Helium. Just backup your apps to SD card move it into S7 and restore your apps after activated Helium on S7.

Thanks. I will try

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S II

Hi,
I have a Galaxy S II since about a week. It is rooted and Titanium Backup (paid version) is installed.
When I deleted an app I didn't want to keep I accidentally deleted the wrong one, something called BadgeProvider. Alas, I have found out that this system app makes it possible to send SMS (maybe more problems that I haven't found out yet) Without it, I can't .
I have tried to reinstall it from Titanium but that doesn't work. I have found the BadgeProvider.apk file on the Internet and trid to install it with several app installers but that doesn't work either.
I do need to send and receive SMS. How do I get a functional smartphone again?
I do badly need help
Thanks
Well, I would recommend you move the Titanium Backup File onto different storage, than factory reset the phone. If you've only had it a week I don't imagine you are going to lose too much, especially if you are already backed up. May take a little bit to re-root and restore and everything but, it's better than trial and error/waiting for a specific solution.

Help with titanium

I flashed my GT recently (GB rom ) and had to re-install and pay for titanium backup pro (again ) in order to restore my apps.
I've checked around and most guide tutorials start with the assumption that you'll access the app easily after flashing. When faced with a wiped tab, how do I quickly access titanium?

You have save the APK files on your sdcard or install it through the market again.
You won't have to ( and can not) buy an app two times, if you had previously bought it.
Purchases are not lost.
thanks
Thank you. Must have gotten Tit back up from another source. I, like you was surprised when I had to buy it.

How to move app data from one phone to another

Hello guys. I have a question and maybe someone can help me out with it. I just upgraded from a Samsung Galaxy s3 to an s4 and my question is how can I move all my games and app data from the s3 to the s4? I am running a stock ROM on both my phones, so I am not rooted. Is there anyway I can move the data? I have great progress on some games that I don't want to lose.

Hello cevacu2005,
If you can root your phone you know with Titanium Backup you can easily do an app+data backup to the sdcard and then you can move the card phone-to-phone or maybe phone-PC-phone.
But I think there is an easiest way to do it, I've not tried it, but I've seen in "accounts&sync" you can sync your app data to your Google account and then restore it on the other phone just syncing the account again. Let me know if it worked

The google account method does work. For the method suggested by the OP, unfortunately If you backup and try to use the backup on another device it wont parse (according to the error). However I've never tried doing this with one of those backup apps like titanium backup.

[Q]Migrating apk data to a still unrootable Z3

I know that there is some "ways" to backup apks data on unrooted devices, but none of them work on Xperias (I have Z1). I just got my Z3 a week ago, but The programs that backup apks data doesn't work on current Xperia Phones. Helium, and holo backup.
Is there another way to do this?. I can't believe that I cannot use my brand new Xperia Z3 because it's still non rootable.
Thanks.

Helium works perfectly on Z3 without root. I used it successfully to migrate my appdata!

This, transferred whatsapp for example to my Z3 (from the Z1). No extensive experiences here but seems to work pretty fine for most apps...
Well, I've just today moved all of my apps and data from my HTC Droid DNA to my brand new Z3 using helium, worked like a charm (use the helium server option, that's the easiest in my opinion).

I have all drivers installed, but the phone doesn't recognise helium on pc, but helium pc tells that there is a device connected. I cannot switch the phone to tpt mode, it marks the check, but after asecond it uncheck the option.

Are you using free version of helium.
Sorry for so many questions.

Hi there,
Yes, I made the backup on a rooted phone without a computer, and restored on the Z3 after connecting to my computer with the desktop software installed on it.
And yeah, I'm using the free version
Yeah, i forgot to install z3 drivers, so now i restored app data.
Thank guys.
great it worked on the end
if I had to setup all my apps again this would have been a huge pita, thus I was very happy that helium worked smoothly
Hope that root comes quickly, I miss Titanium backup

[Completed] Helium backup app will be the end of me (and plenty others from the sounds of it)

Hello all on xda forums. I am new here and need some help restoring my phone. I was rooted on 4.2 Kitkat and decided to upgrade to 5.0 lolipop on my Galaxy S4 Active (GT-I9295). I made the mistake of using helium to backup my apps and now can not restore my apps. When I look in the app folders on my PC there are no files in the folders which makes it impossible to use the server client. I backed up the full app on helium so I would assume that there would be some files there. I've heard some people say that you have to re-install all of your apps and then restore the data. I have really slow internet and would like to avoid this method if possible. Let me know if you need more information. (Cant upload images since I'm new here sorry about that)

Something just happened and I can see my app files........I'm never using helium again. Apparently you need to download an app in order for all the data to show up? (If you cant tell, I have no clue what is going on)

I GOT IT! So apparently you need to download an app that you used to have and back up the fresh download in order for your old app data to show up. I had my old carbon folder stored on my SD card (Make sure you also back it up to your PC) when I downloaded the app onto my phone. So glad it works!
