I have a new D850 that I want to flash my backup from my other D850 onto. The new one is:
Code:
Android version
5.0.1
Baseband version
MPSS.DI.2.0.1.C1.13-00058-M8974AAAAANPZM-1
Kernel version
3.4.0
Build number
LRX21Y
Software version
D85021r
Security software version
MDF v1.1 Release 3
So my goal is to get TWRP onto it, ideally 2.7.8.0 as that's the one on my old phone I made the backup from, but any version will do.
What are my options? My understanding is that:
I need root to install TWRP
D850 10F and above cannot be rooted currently
However, it is possible to downgrade... and then root?
Do I really need to go through all of that just to flash my backup? Is there a simpler way to get TWRP loaded?
If not... can someone explain the downgrade process? I see hyelton's guide, but I'm so very confused as to which of the methods (LGUP, KDZ, TOT) apply to my situation – D850, downgrading from 10R to something rootable – and which files I'd actually need... :S

Here's my phone's information:
Model number: GT-I9100G
Android version : 4.1.2
Baseband version: I9100GDXLS2

Try to flash a another stock rom : http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/
And then root that ROM
Would flashing another ROM erase my stuffs in the phone ? Or does it just change the baseband version

Make a backup and try things out. Rooting will not delete your stuff, flashing another rom will.
Try the normal S2 way or rooting, and it should work. There are no specifics in rooting based on baseband, if that was the case, you would have 500 forums in XDA for just one device, all about rooting.
Try it out and make a backup.

Ah I see. Okay if thats the case, I've already boot it into a recovery mode before. But only option i found there is "reboot system, update from external card, update from ABD, wipe data, wipe cache, and update from cache". That's all. I couldnt find my root file like previously when I rooted my 2.1 android S2
Owhyeah, do i have to enable usb debugging for flashing the stock rom and root ?
I had downloaded what I thought was the latest stock AT&T factory software for the phone, rooted it, installed TWRP, and got a notification for an OTA. Being so used to my old phone, I just told it to download (Had a Galaxy S4 Active which would just fail to update and reboot to Android). I found out how to get my device to boot again by using the TWRP Command Shell (Thank goodness there was such a way! I have so many pictures on my phone that I hadn't backed up yet!).
So it's back to the stock rooted w/ TWRP. What's the easiest way to get to the latest software so that I'm not nagged by AT&T and eventually it makes me download the OTA making it a paperweight until I type in that long command from the TWRP Shell.
Software Information:
Android Version 4.4.2
Baseband Version: M8974A-AAAANAZM-1.0.190082
Kernel Version: 3.4.0
Build Number: KOT49I.D80020k
Software Version: D80020k
Or is the firmware update coming up because TWRP is installed? I thought the method to install it downgraded something on the phone. I was on 4.4.2 when I did all the software modifications.
Hi
Is new update 5.1.1 Downgradable ? Can we Downgrade it to 5.0.1 ?

How are you able to downgrade when others are bricking their phones? Is the ls996 different?

mine is H959, so it might be different from I Series. H series can use LG Flash Tool and kdz files to upgrade/downgrade as you like. just need to make sure you use the CSE Flash method to wipe out everything when you flash.

Okay looks like the ls996 isn't as downgrade friendly. Something about a different bootloader. I basically can't enjoy a phone anymore without root so if a 5.1.1 method doesn't come quick I'll have to sell this one and get one that hasn't been updated.

HELLO!
please help, need firmware version H83020i_un
or any unlocked version
kdz or zip
When there is a publicly known way to root 20i without downgrading , then maybe that rom can be backed-up and possibly publicly shared...along with the unlock. Until then, there is no known way to self-unlock.
I got a T-Mobile S6 from a friend, and I'm trying to do whatever I can to enable using it on AT&T. I think a custom ROM might be nice, but I'm stuck on this CSC business.
It was weirdly flashed before, so I flashed it back to stock using Odin and a recent image from sammobile.
The image was G920TUVU5FQG3_G920TTMB5FQG3_TMB
Device: SM-G920T
Android Verson: 7.0
Baseband: G920TUVU5FQG3
Kernel Version:
3.10.61-11187574
[email protected] #1
Any advice is appreciated. I'm confident enough to flash TWRP and other things on the phone. (I've done some NAND hacking in my day.)
I'm just lacking some concise instruction/direction.
I assume I need to
1) Flash TWRP using Odin
2) Root the phone by flashing SuperSU or Magisk
3) Flash AT&T compatible ROM using TWRP
What am I missing with the CSC stuff? Do I need files from somewhere? When I tried to go through the install for "Ultimate Nougat 2.0" I got stuck on the which CSC, because it didn't appear to have a CSC compatible with AT&T/USA.
The goal is to use this phone on AT&T, hopefully with a decent debloated ROM that is as close to native google android as possible and doesn't have any vendor nonsense.
Thank you for your time.
You don't need to do anything regarding to CSC stuff.
Just flash TWRP and do whatever you want to do.
