Hey guys,
Im getting really annoyed now, i just want to syn my phone with my work laptop but heres the problem
Basically i was able to syn using 4.5 with my xda stellar no problem, then i messed it up by trying to enter my servers email to get it wireless and i did it wrong, therefore when i plugged by usb it got confused i think. and basically didnt work, just keep hanging.
So i did a hard reset back to factory settings.
Now i have all my contacts on my outlook work laptop, but everytime i try to sync, the computer activesync just seems to hang on sync, but my phone will either say connected or done etc but nothing has been sync back to the phone.
Firstly in order to get my contacts and my work calander, do i need to get them from the PC or exchange server??
and second when these are highlighted why does it just hang and not actually do anything??
I plugged it into my computer at home and it backups my files instantly and get a tick to say all done, but nothing like that happens when im at work??
can anyone help, as its bugging me, i just want all my contacts back on my phone and i also want to link my calander now too
Thanks in advanced
Shane
can no body help me then?? have i asked in the right place?
Okay, so i have the HTC Arrive now, and i really like the phone, great UI, Amazing keyboard, not as quick on the data as my LG Quantum but still fast, but the Gmail, i dont know what is going on with the gmail on here, i have my gamil signed into my Quantum with no problem, but when i try to sign in to the app and have my gmail on my arrive it tells me that the info is incorrect... i really am getting frustrated with that :/
any oppinions or ideas?
Ive taken the battery out and deleted the gmail acct off the phone, yet still no gmail...
How can i fix this?
Are you just setting it up as an exchange account on the phone or using some gmail app from the marketplace?
I'm using gmail simply via exchange and it works no problem.

I had this same problem when I first got my Arrive. Needless to say it frustrated the CRAP out of me. I tried everything and after several resets and whatnot I finally figured the solution, it's not the most desirable but it worked for me.
I had to change my gmail password on a computer or IE on the phone, then try. It then worked and I changed my password back and updated the account info on my phone.
Try this and let me know if it works for you!
It does that the first couple of times, each time giving you more options to change, but on the third time it will give you the option to set the Exchange server address(m.google.com). As soon as you put that in and retry it connects and starts syncing. I haven't figured out how to set the server address without first failing twice.
I'm kinda in a daze from losing my Nexus S last night. The hangover is probably contributing to said daze. I don't have one of those security apps installed. I must have forgotten to restore it when I flashed a new ROM. My inner child is on my inner floor bawling his eyes out at the moment.
Anyway, my question is, what can I do to ensure minimal loss of my privacy. I have already changed all my passwords. Does this automatically unsync my account on the phone? I mean, will the phone ask whoever has it to re-enter the new password? What else am I forgetting? What else can I do?
Would appreciate it if "You should have"s are avoided. Thanks!
I know for sure that if you have changed your Google/Gmail Password, that the phone will prompt for a new one. As far as 'unsyncing' I do not know. I didn't check to see if my contacts/emails/calendar etc were removed when I changed the password and the phone prompted for a new one.
I will change my password again, see what happens and let you know.
*****EDIT*****
I changed my password for my phone, I got a notification about a sign in error, that prompted for a password. The dialing functions still worked as normal, any emails that you had cached were also visibile as well as the calendar. I rebooted without updating the password and could still call out as normal, but when I tried to access the Gmail app, it tried to sync the inbox, but prompted for a password right away.
I don't have any apps installed with other sensitive information, but I would imagine those would function as normal.
Hope this helps.
You could try lookout mobile security "plan b" will help find it.

Hmm sorry to hear that dude, i would probably be bawling on the floor too!
Although... i probably will install one of those security apps now...
Thanks for your help, guys.
Even if you don't change password but someone change sim card,android will require reenter password for sync

I don't know if Plan B would work seeing as how his Google Account is tied to the market account. Because he changed his password and the phone lost connection with the Google account, I don't believe remote installs will work, but I could be wrong.

Yes, I was wondering the same thing. I picked up a new Nexus S(not SAMOLED unfortunately) and synced it up and everything. Finally got to a PC and looked up my Market Account. It listed both phones under devices and I could go all the way to installing it on both phones. It located my current phone.
Unfortunately, I blocked my SIM card prematurely(did not know about Plan B), so, I can't send out the locate SMS. But, I figure whoever has it has probably removed the SIM card, or does not know how to charge it if the battery is dead or is using a SIM on it without a data connection. So, no data connection means no app on the phone. I haven't received an email from Plan B for the lost phone.
Why is the phone is still linked to my market account? I can see that the carrier has been changed which means a new SIM.
For now I'm just satisfying myself by installing inane and useless apps on the phone. HAHA! I hope it works and the app installation is going through. I've pretty much lost hope of finding it.
Hi guys.
Please help, my phone was stolen earlier today and my SIM card is removed from the phone.
My gmail accoount is still in use and I have my IMEI number.
Is there a way to find out the phone number of that SIM card that uses my phone, so I can text this someone or try to call it?
have some data on the phone which is very important for my work, can't afford of losing it.
Please help me if there is a way, gmail daschbord also does't show that new number in use.
Please help.
Prevention is better than cure,
Apps like finding your lost phone or clearing your data if stolen are pretty useless, a simple factory reset removes everything.
Some of my friends have auto sync on for dropbox, so any pictures taken gets sync(in the event where the thief snap a duck picture of himself it gets sync to his account).
Basically unless u have a sync app installed, there isnt much hope to repossess the data.
As for the imei, not sure as where i am from it doesnt really matter, if your phone gets stolen, you downgrade to a 3690 until u can save up for a new one.

Thank you Fear. know that prevention is better but I messed up.
hope there is a way to find out that number, just hope that it wont be late.
my work is gone...
There are some of the things you can do-
If you had any remote tracking enabled software in phone use it.antivirus companies like Kaspersky/NOD32 enables device stolen tracking features and allows you to remotely swipe,sms from the stolen phone through online web management.
If your gmail account is in use.use the Gmail account activities for the last login information.you can track based on last logged in IP that who and from where its getting used.launch the police complaint and with phone operator too.the more proofs the faster response.
Something like prey would have been ideal. p r e y p r o j e c t d o t c o m
And you should always backup important information.
Just try to remember this in future. Your phone and all your info are gone, sorry.

An IMEI number is useful if the phone connects to a carrier's network.
I'd contact your carrier if you haven't already.

Sorry, forgot to mention before. If you report the IMEI to the police then they can stop it being sold on to second hand shops. Doesn't help your situation though.
first thank you all for the help.
tried with the carrier and the police but no luck. they blow me off both of them.
ploce says to wait, carrier say call the police...
but I wonder, in my gmail account I could see my number, why can't I see another number that's using my phone?
What carrier? Did u backup to drop box or anything? If u have the imei report the device stolen to carrier. At least they can deactivate phone so they can't use it anymore. As for getting ur data back you might have to kiss it good bye.

Hello! I am solving a problem for my friend. She has a SONY XPERIA Mini and she forgot her locking pattern. Even her google account password. I know only one way to solve this is factory rest. But she wants to keep SMS messages, i know hard reset wipes ALL personal datas. Is there any way to keep them, maybe if i root the phone and get access to them? or via USB debbuging if she had allowed it before she forgot password?
Thank you best regards.

There is special app Screen Lock Bypass specially for that case. Try to do the following:
Restore Google password via backup e-mail or phone number;
Go to the web version of Google Play;
Login with the Google account associated with your Android device;
Install Screen Lock Bypass;
Reboot your device.
