Hey guys,
Im getting really annoyed now, i just want to syn my phone with my work laptop but heres the problem
Basically i was able to syn using 4.5 with my xda stellar no problem, then i messed it up by trying to enter my servers email to get it wireless and i did it wrong, therefore when i plugged by usb it got confused i think. and basically didnt work, just keep hanging.
So i did a hard reset back to factory settings.
Now i have all my contacts on my outlook work laptop, but everytime i try to sync, the computer activesync just seems to hang on sync, but my phone will either say connected or done etc but nothing has been sync back to the phone.
Firstly in order to get my contacts and my work calander, do i need to get them from the PC or exchange server??
and second when these are highlighted why does it just hang and not actually do anything??
I plugged it into my computer at home and it backups my files instantly and get a tick to say all done, but nothing like that happens when im at work??
can anyone help, as its bugging me, i just want all my contacts back on my phone and i also want to link my calander now too
Thanks in advanced
Shane
can no body help me then?? have i asked in the right place?

guys
help me out here please cause I am going bonkers.
up till yesterday , i was synching my exec with my vista laptop flawlessly.it laptop used to recognize ppc as soon as i turned bluetooth and connected it ,and sync was always successful without errors.
however as of yesterday I cannot sync anymore.I did not install anything new neither on ppc nor on laptop.
Whenever I try to sync ,on ppc I get that i am connecting (the 2 inverted arrows on top of screen) but keep getting WAITING FOR NETWORK .and even though I press sync nothing happens.
I noticed that on my laptop, ppc is not being listed in the MY COMPUTER page as a devise with removable storage ,as usually happens.
I was thinking of performing a hard reset but am worried that even though i do this I won't be able to sync and thus lose all my present contacts and calender entries
Apprecaite your thoughts
no ideas guys???
nobody can offer his views???
Hi all-
I am having some trouble with active sync and outlook. I have a standard rom fuze syncing to outlook 2000 on a windows xp computer. The other day after a sync I noticed my contacts in outlook were all deleted, yet they are still on the phone. I noticed in active sync on the computer that it is only syncing the calendar, favorites and files, not contacts. When I look in the active sync program on the phone I see that the contacts option is now grayed out and is not available to select. I am not worried about loosing my database, I use pim backup, I just want to get my contacts back onto my computer. I have been using windows phones for several years and have never come across this problem before..
I deleted the partnership both on the phone and on the computer, and then re established the syncing partnership. At first if appeared it would sync the contacts, but when the syncing process was done, I was back to where I started with the contacts grayed out again.
I did come across these threads:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=428257
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=264609
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=246075
and none of them provided any help to my situation.
One person did suggest installing some office xp updates which did not help, someone suggested to hard reset the phone but before I do that I wanted to ask if anyone knows of anything else I can try, and how I can prevent this from happening again. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Handy thing that
thanks Jack of Clubs for the helpful link. I will definately check that out...
But for now, I need to get those contacts back into outlook. I use outlook to sync from my windows phone to a few nokia phones.
Anyone have any ideas I can try before a hard reset?
You didn't setup any type of exchange for your contacts for another server did you? Since my move to Vista/7 and the updated WMDC I haven't had that problem. Good luck...let us know how its sovled.
no, i don't have any type of exchange setup. just basic syncing to activesync through usb cable. quite baffling to me..
Deleted Out look contacts
This happened to me, luckily i found all my contacts in the deleted folder of Outlook and simply restored them, it has to do with the direction of syncing, i.e. pc to device or device to pc, on will over write the other......
yes, I did copy the deleted items back into the contact database.
I am trying to figure out how to re establish the syncing relationship between the phone and outlook..

thats really hard to do. i couldnt figure it out the one time i ended the partnership then tried to re-establish it.
I reset my phone and now I cant resync with my outlook. It keeps asking me for a damn certificate. Its this stupid WMDC in windows Vista . When I first sync back 2 years ago, it was in XP with the Active Sync software. That was a breeze. Now this crap wont let me do anything. I need to sync to my work email wirelessly. Its useless to get my updates only when I plug the phone to the PC. Thats why I am in front of the PC, I dont need the phone anymore. I tried the search tool and nothing came back that seems similar to mine.
Thanks.
Here is the fix in case yous all run into this crap.

I cant connect too sense, it says unable to connect to server. any ideas?
Sense cloud stuff is still in beta and goes down from time to time. If you are trying to get stuff from sense hub go into accounts and sync and make sure you have the hub set up to sync
Same problem earlier

I've gone through everything people are saying here as well. I'm pretty sure that it's on HTC's side, so there isn't anything you can do about it. Just wait and try some other time. Mine worked out that way.
Also, like some people mentioned, it's a Beta system (not even a good Beta), so things don't work like they're supposed to. I couldn't make my phone ring or locate it. We just need to let HTC finish this system.
I know that there has to be a way to retrieve deleted files and really need help. I unfortunately never used ActiveSync to backup files as it never 'recognized' my phone when I would USB it to this old [XP] computer. Finally last week I went thru Activesync program on phone and it kept trying to sync by going online which was eating my money as I never heard it connecting and it would just stay online. I found great this site last week and tried some the fixes that I read to stop ActiveSync, but still no go. So I went back into the phones ActiveSync and unchecked the contacts/calendar/tasks/e-mail boxes that it was trying to sync to thinking maybe that will stop it. HUGE MISTAKE! It deleted ALL of my contacts/calendar appointments, ect. I've searched this forum and haven't found anything to help.
These smartphones are just computers right? So isn't there a way to retrieve those deleted files?
I really would appreciate any help as the contacts list is a devastating lose.
I don't know if this helps but when the phone starts, the reading are:
R 1.58.21.23
G 25.65.30.04H
D 1.26.00.00
