Can I rename a Sdcard? - Xperia Z3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I am pretty new in devices with expandable storage. I recently added one to my Z3 and I'd like to know if I can rename its name. I tried use Rename on Root Explorer, but it failed.
Thanks in advance.

As far as I know there's no way to change the "folder name" of the sd-card within android.
It's not like this is the name of the sd card like in windows etc. as android generates a path
to a mount point of said sd card and the name is generated from the sd card serial number / UUID (at least since marshmallow).
Changing this mount point could lead to a bad outcome as all links to the mount point wouldn't work
anymore and apps would literally "serach" in the wrong place for the sd card.

Damaged SD Card?

Hi,
After months of near perfect operation (HTC Desire running LeeDroid 3.0.8.2) my phone's SD card (Kingston 16GB Class 10) card all of a sudden became read only.
This had happened a couple of times in the past and after a chkdsk run the corrected file entries are fixed and the card is back to normal.
This time round even though there where a couple of fixes the rooted phone would not boot.
Since I had a ClockworkMod backup form a few days before I tried a restore. The restore process would start running, but then stop with an error that it was unable to format the sd-ext partition.
After a number of trials (and products) I used the gParted live CD to repartition the SD card. Even though gParted reports that is has correctly created the Ext3 partition when it refreshes it does not recognise the partition.

Is this normal and how can I determine if the card is dead?
Thank you in anticipation.
Update:
I loaded the card into MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition and within this program the card (formated by gParted) is determined correctly. A Surface test of this partition returns that it is OK (screen shot: https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/cZ2ET1Oz_3Df2geaE3rcM9MTjNZETYmyPJy0liipFm0?feat=directlink),
I'm updating the progress of trying to restore the phone (without success).
The check of the Fat32 partition also returned no errors.
I now tried importing a prior backup. The photo at https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/__OUgtNbfs72dM_5L8ynztMTjNZETYmyPJy0liipFm0?feat=directlink (not clear) shows the progress of the restore.
The last two lines read as follows:
Formatting sd-ext...
Error while formatting /sd-ext!
Thankis.

Increase android internal memory

Presenting an extremely easy way to use the total available internal space in your phones.
Requires root
1. See the sdcard's space stats

2. Download V drive
Download
3. Start V drive, you should see the info of your mounted partitions
4. Make a drive from the create drives tab on the system partition
4.a It will take a few seconds to make the drive
5. Check home tab again your should now have a v drive
If the drive is not there, go to edit drives tab and then go back to home tab, (home tab may not have refreshed)
6. You can see your drive in your file explorers now under your sdcard, the insides of a freshly made drive look like this
7. You can fill the drive with your data
8. You will notice the system partition filling up with the v drive in the app
9. You will see that your sdcard still has the same memory stats
Additional : You can also unmount the drive to hide the data stored in it and then remount it to access.

the only way to recover these files is if you haven't deleted those files from the gallery itself. Also, some people don't transfer the media files when switching the phones. So make sure to back up the media files when making the switch and you won't lose them!

How to Resolve: Open From / Recent Items Menu Empty

Greets. Working with a shiny new G930F. Flashed Chainfire Root via Odin. Tweaked a bunch using Package Disabler. Nothing out of the ordinary here. I've run into a problem where none of the file managers I've tried (which have root permissions) will allow me to select the root of the external SD card for read/write permissions. I've tried ES File Explorer, Fx, Amaze, and a few others. Every time I try to modify the external sd card, I get a dialog (different in each app) explaining that I have to select the root of the sd card to continue, which I would happily do, except the following dialog has an 'Open From' menu, which is empty. Assuming that the 'Show SD Card' option hadn't been selected, I went ahead and checked. Sure enough, the dialog already had the "Show SD Card" option selected (now presented with a "Hide..." option).
I've checked every permission I can find but I'm not able to select the external SD Card root with any of these apps. The only app that will work, curiously enough, is the My Files app that ships with the phone. I'm at a loss, hoping one of you folks can help out with this one. Screenshots below for reference...

And just for good measure, Google Drive seems to have no issue with [what appears to be] the same dialog:

cant format sd to internal

Hi,
i just bought my gf a samsung evo 128gb sd card for her Nokia 5.3. At first it said its damaged and the formatting in android didnt do anything. So then i tried to use PC and saw that there was no file system at all, but even after formatting it it didnt work. Then i tried using adb to force it to format which kinda worked.

I read online both to use the id you get from list-disks aswell as those you get from list-volumes.
What did work was the volume id (179,64). However using "sm partition disk:179,64 mixed 90" was the highest number that worked, since sm partition disk:179,64 private" didnt work at all. The device simply didnt recognize the sd anymore.
And even now the device claims that most of the storage is already being used, despite the card still being empty.
What can i do to fix it and have the entire sd as internal storage??
When a SD-card is accepted as adoptable storage, the Android OS deletes the contents and writes a GUID partition table that defines two partitions:
A small empty android_meta partition reserved for future use. The GUID of the partition type is 19A710A2-B3CA-11E4-B026-10604B889DCF.
A large android_ext partition encrypted with dm-crypt and formatted with either ext4 or f2fs depending on kernel capabilities. The GUID of the partition type is 193D1EA4-B3CA-11E4-B075-10604B889DCF.
