Only sure way to know for positive is speed test app and compare with whatever other results are for your area either from sprint.com or the opensignal app

I just got data flagged

I'm not in an lte market right now, I'm on hspa/umts only. No 3.5g. 3g only. I have used 2.7gb of UNLIMITED DATA and I got flagged. Wtf is that?
HTC = Hate The Consumer
they throttle the top 5% on unlimited plans. spoke to a rep yesterday. although your usage to me does not look like a 5%'er
My average usage is 2.5 to 3.8 according to the rep I spoke to. He is also curious why I got flagged. He said he will look into it and call me back.
HTC = Hate The Consumer
there are two threads here about this... one is titled throttled and the other is something along the same lines.. check them out for tips and gripes

Sprint may not have very good coverage but I can use all the unlimited unthrottled data I want . Not trying to rub it in (cause I used yo have AT&T and got throttled and capped) just saying it was a good switch for me.

The sad part is that even though sprint does not throttle their speeds Max at at about what we are throttled to lol. I left them in august and have not looked back.

Really??? I get a good 1-1.5 mbps continuous on 3g on my phone and computer when I use the hotspot. I font have 4g in my area to test that though. But when sprint launches their 4g lte in 2013 I will have it hopefully still unlimited too.
Sent from my MB855 using XDA App
Yeah I was super dissapointed they did wimax and not lte.
Realize our 3g speeds are typically 1.5-5 , I have hit 12
When one gets throttled and can accomplish the apn trick...they are hitting 1.5-5 ...throttled
In my case here in Dallas i would get about 400kbps dload in most areas, which is why I left Sprint. Its different from area to area tho.

Yep had sprint for a few years and recently switched to At&t, the switch was night and day. I Showed my phone to a friend that still has sprint and he was amazed at how fast thing were loading especially YouTube videos and I wasn't even on At&t lte. I don't have an unlimited plan so I don't get throttled and average 1.3gbs per month so I'm good.

im not sure, i havent used them. might not hurt to do a bit of googling or contact them directly for info on their bands they use.
You would be better off getting ATT go phone sin. I'm getting good speeds hspa+. ATT will tell u it won't work. U will just need to change sim. I just went through the tmobile edge deal. That sucked. Slow well now on gophone

I also have the inspire 4g and the Internet is quite slow though I have simple mobile. So does that means that the phone only has fast speed on ATT?

No, simple mobile runs off of tmobiles network so your stuck on edge. Straight talk uses att so you'll actually get 3g with them

I use straight talk, and the internet is quite fast. HSDPA, my phone even recognizes and picks up the phones supposed 4G service at times depending on my location at time and question.. Certain APN settings can ALSO however, affect the speed, a few MB/s at most. When I have edge, my speed averages, .50 to 1.70 MB/s. Could even be your current baseband kernel.(Flashed Radio).

Simultaneous voice and data on 3g?

I know the s3 had it but it went away with the s4. I wonder if the s5 will have it. I know you can get simultaneous voice and data over LTE, but can it be done on 3g?

You will not be able to talk and surf over 3G or 4G LTE.
The GS5 is a Sprint Spark phone and only has one transmission path and therefore can only either connect to LTE or CDMA never both. Sorry, but it does help for battery life.

That stinks. I can use my 4G while on the phone now with my Evo3D and would like to be able to use it while on a call on my next phone and was really thinking about the S5 for my upgrade. What to do now...

It seems all new phones are on this unfortunate track... You won't be able to avoid it.
Triband is supposed to be the future, but they are going backwards

I would imagine until we have voice over LTE that won't come back on spark devices.
Is VoLTE coming with HD voice this summer or does that just step up what it's currently using?
I'm on my phone a lot in the car and while using navigation and streaming music. So if I ever need to re-route or want to change to a playlist I don't have stored, it kind of sucks.

Talk and LTE 2.5 (spark)
This is the most backwards idea ever. I noticed in the first 5 mins of buying my phone. Highly upset about this! Not that I talk on the phone and use data at the same time a lot, but I would like to have the choice. Something that was not talked about in the weeks after the unveiling of the S5.

i dont do it either...but when im using bluetooth and on hold, i dont mind playing with the internet....so backwards!!
Most of us have unlimited data on sprint. Google voice integrates well with sprint. So an option would be to set up google voice, and then use a third party app such as phone for google voice. I don't have s5 yet, so can't try it. still on s3.
if anyone wants to try it, then you can report back on how well it works. I have used it overseases using a 3g connection with mixed results. Sometimes worked well, sometimes not.
Hmm with sprint I can't surf the Web at all no data when on a call I understand 3g no data but I was told on spark or lte I can is this true?

We have a spark device ....so we are basically sol . Past devices worked with lte. I believe all of sprints new devices will work in this manner. Until spark is updated to to allow this feature.

At&t New York Market so fast sometimes and so slow other times
Sent from my LG-D850 using XDA Free mobile app
Pretty good.
I got 44.30 down and 11.9 up.
It's very dependent on the signal strength.
From the same tower I got 11.01/3.18 with one less signal bar.
My best one!
35 down and 5 up on my d850 with T-Mobile service though

AT&T in Moore, Oklahoma. I haven't gotten close to that since. I have a friend's dad that is a tower technician and he said that they have been doing a lot of upgrades and tests across the state. I guess I got that one when they had a tower uncapped.
50/16 is the usual. Never get anything faster than that.
This was done on the west side of the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex (West Fort Worth to be precise). Driving down the highway actually. Lol

Look at the symbol right next to the lte logo. For sprint phones this let u know you were in a "sprint spark" area. Its a sprint thing but i havent seen it in days and only reason i can think of is the ota i did last tuesday changed the icons and knocked that one out of play

I noticed immediately after the update too. Now it looks more like a Nexus when combined with material theme and icons.
Ya looks a lot cleaner up there. Hate a lot of clutter up top
Sent from my SM-G920P using XDA Free mobile app
I asked an engineer friend at Sprint about this and he told me that the last OTA upgrade disposed of the Spark icon. BUT, you are still accessing the Spark network (band 41) if in a Spark area.
He thinks that it was all a marketing decision, and a poor decision at that. Sprint could have sold Spark as a "Verizon Buster" because of it's insane speed. However, it's available only in certain areas and this was confusing people who don't understand tri-band radios and the like.
So now, they stopped differentiating between Spark and LTE and don't even mention Spark. They just call it "really fast 4g" at the stores. Dumb ****s.
I'm still getting avg 50meg down and am in a "fair" Spark area. Last week when in downtown Chicago I got over 70meg. And yep, all it says in the status bar is "4GLTE!"
Hope this helps as, when that icon disappeared I almost had a heart attack! Called Sprint and NOBODY knew WTF I was talking about.
