Hey ppl! I messed up my phone and I need some help. I have a G2x and I recently rooted it using the root.zip I found on one of the forum threads here. It worked fine and I flashed over to Eagleblood 2.5 and I didn't notice when I downloaded it that it didn't come with the google apps. I couldn't figure out how to get the google apps back into the phone since market wasn't installed. I tried downloading it but the phone kept telling me I don't have an SD Card being that I don't have an external one yet. Yes, I could have just downloaded it on pc and then transfered market apk via usb but I couldn't find the option to activate usb which was weird. Usually when you plug in your usb cable the driod icon pops up. So instead of flashing back using the backup I made on CWM I used nvflash and then used that LG tool to install V21E_00.kdz to install Gingerbread again. That's where everything messed up. I no longer was getting a cell signal and the battery icon had a ? in it. I assumed that the installation went bad to i did the process again with the nvflash and the V21E_00.kdz file. I got the same results again. I managed to get the wifi working again cause it wouldn't connect and downloaded cm7 7.1.0.1 to see if it would fix the problem. I flashed over and got the same results on cm7. No cell signal and battery icon screwed up. I gave up and did a full wipe and tried to install Gingerbread again. This time my pc wasn't reading my phone anymore when I connected it to the usb to use the LG tool to install V21E_00.kdz. Now my phone is in a cm7 boot cycle. If my phone is broken just tell me so I can dump it. My friend warned me about the G2x and I didnt listen cause I was in a hurry to get a nice phone. Any input and help would be greatly appreciated. If you guys need more info on anything please ask. If I can salvage this hunk o' junk I'm getting rid of it.
This phone is unbrickable damn near, have you tried the rom for recovery in development section? It will low level nvflash your phone to GB OTA 2.3.3 good luck.

Great! Thanks for the help. The phone is somewhat alive but I still have no cell signal and my battery icon has a question mark in it again. I was reading on that thread you linked me mentioning to do a firmware upgrade using the kdz file or LG Tool. Do I have to flash the firmware to get the cell signal working and the battery icon to work? If so, where do I get the firmware to flash?
To fix the boot loop cycle just boot back into clockworkmod recovery and do a factory reset, wipe cache, Dalvik cache, and then reboot and give it several minutes (first boot takes a little longer).
Or since you said you have a backup, just boot into clockworkmod, do a factory reset, format /system, and then restore your backup.
Again, the first boot always takes a little longer.
Thanks phburk I managed to get the phone working again with the flash.bat file from the link posted but I still dont have cell signal and battery icon has a question mark in it. I'm trying to download and use the LG Update Tool to see if that flashes the firmware to get the cell signal and battery icon working again.
The LG Update Tool fails at 30%. I can't get wifi on the phone to work and I have no cell signal and battery icon has a question mark still. This phone has to be broken. I see no fix in site for this problem. Anyone want to trade a GS2 for a G2x?

If you have a backup from a working configuration, try restoring that. Before you restore it, boot into clockworkmod and do a factory reset, and then format /system. THEN restore your backup.
After you restore allow the phone to reboot. If you still don't have signal then go to Settings > About Phone and see what it says for Baseband version.
Right now its going to show "unknown" for baseband. Might sound stupid but remove the battery sim card and sdcard for 5 minutes or so and then put them all back in and reboot. Try that after the factory wipes and installing a new rom. I've done that when I saw the "?" And no cell or data...

I'll give it a shot. That's all I can do at the moment.
I no longer have a backup. The backup got corrupted that's why I've been trying other methods of restoring my phone. After running backup from CWM, the phone would reboot and stay on a black screen and flash. Screen would go dim then black like the backlight showing a black screen and dim again. That's all it kept doing and would not reboot. I tried doing a kdz flash but the pc wouldn't even recognize my phone when I plugged in the usb. (Yes, the drivers were installed and it was working. Previous to this I have kdz flashed twice. Phone has to be in S/W Update Mode by first pressing power button and as soon as the LG Logo shows up on the screen, let go of the power button and hold volume down.)
This resolved my reboot issue since I couldn't do a kdz flash.

It got my phone working but still have unknown baseband and a question mark inside my battery icon.
**Update**
I read several threads regarding unknown baseband issue.
I've tried this method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-1332350.html
Since I already just did the first part by using the flash.bat file all I had to do was use the kdz flash. Unfortunately, my pc is still not recognizing my phone when I plug it in to the usb while in S/W Update Mode. I tried using this method above since the phone doesn't have to be in S/W Update Mode.
Outcome:
The LG Update Tool used in the method above kept stalling at 4%.
I read in another thread that this LG Update Tool doesn't work on Gingerbread. This LG Update Tool only works on Froyo.
So my next option was to use this method and try installing Froyo:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1048274
This method just didn't work period. Since I don't have baseband or wifi working on the phone I can't get into market to download Rom Manager and I can't install File Expert which I have backed up on my pc. I already had the _ExternalSD directory so I made a sub directory /clockworkmod and another subdirectory /backup in the previous subdirectory. Made this on both the External and Internal sd cards and CWM tells me Couldn't open directory - No files found. So installing Froyo this way was out of the question.
I found this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-1037120.html
This is the stock Froyo version before the Gingerbread update as a zip file.
Unfortunately, when I tried to install the zip file from CWM it didn't work. I unzipped the zip file and found 2 .bin files which answers my question why CWM didn't install the zip.
I tried this method as well:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-1332350.html
This method involves the flash.bat file to be done as a prerequisite before flashing to kdz. To my understanding, the flash.bat file fixes the partitions that most likely were screwed up on the phone and the kdz flash fixes the baseband (update/repair). I still haven't been able to get that kdz flash v1e to work simply because my pc won't recognize my phone into the usb when its in S/W Update Mode. I'm leaning towards the LG Update Tool to fix my baseband but I just need to downgrade to Froyo.
Don't know what else to do. I've been at it for 2 days and I'm seriously going to give up and just cancel T-Mobile.
If one of the methods involves installing apps, u can use adb to install them from ur computer without having to copy them to ur phone. But that's if u can get it into usb debugging mode.

When you installed the rom, there should've been an extra package for Google apps that you should have flashed along with the rom as well, but you did so many different things, I don't know what to say.
You don't need your backup, it won't fix your baseband if it's corrupted or at all because no one has been able to get this phone to independently flash a baseband and the only way is through running the Gingerbread update either with KDZ or the LG updater.
I also went through hell more than once when I bricked my phone a few times. The first time I spent almost 2 weeks at it until I fixed it with the help of others here.
I also had the KDZ update stop at 4% over and over again which drove me crazy with anxiety. I was desperate so, after a few of those 4% hangups, I decided to reinstall a ROM and kernel just to see if the phone's baseband had installed anyway. Well, what a surprise, it did work.
You should try KDZ update again and, when it stalls at 4%, leave it for about 20 minutes then install a ROM based on Android 2.3.3, such as Weapon 3, fix permissions then reboot. That's what worked for me once. Another time, I did the same but I installed MTK drivers first then ran KDZ which stopped at 4% too but it worked too.
Read post #20 in this thread about how someone else did that successfully: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1180177
Here's where the MTK driver is: http://www.4shared.com/file/EqniU1Xt/MCCI_r_Firmware_Update_Driver_.html

try to flash the recovery using fastboot
The same thing happened to me a few days ago.
Version 6.0 of CWM Recovery caused my phone no stop boot at LG logo.
Use LG's official flash tool to recover phone (you will need to input your IMEI).
It will flash the latest stock rom to your phone.
After that I flashed CWM Recovery 5.0, that one works fine.
yep first time i tried cwm 6 i got stuck on lg boot too and without recovery... you can recover using fast boot like sww said (flash cmw 5 recovery in fastboot [if you go this way flash x and u bin's too, that way if you want to upgrade to cm10 you will be ready] and then restore rom in cmw) or put your phone in download mode (vol up+pwr) and use LG_KDZ_FW-Update_OfflineFix to flash a full kdz (that's how i did it) or like daniel.mota said use the official flash tool to make emergency recovery (probably the easiest method).
btw I tried flashing cmw 6 again a few days ago and it flashed fine this time, entered recovery fine, backed up fine but never restores correctly...
I agree. The new version has a lot of bugs. When I tried to reinstall a previous rom backup it stated that the md5sum was incorrect when it checked among other small glitches. I'm back to v5.0.2.7.
After back to version 5.0.2.7. The same back up was fine.

Hey guys,
I got a little problem here and would appreciate any help. As you might have guessed from the title I have an Optimus One here that won't boot. It is stuck on LG logo screen. The phone is not mine but my father-in-law's and I told him I would have a look since his warranty is already void. He told me that he turned it off because it was gettin really slow (and he does that from time to time to clear memory) and as he wanted to turn it on again, it was stuck on LG logo. And has been since. I can still access emergency mode though, but that's it!
Now, I know that there are a lot of threads that treat this problem but in every one of these threads people solve the problem by flashing a stock ROM via KDZ. And that doesn't work for me. It just won't go through with the whole process. I'm flashing in emergency mode and always at some point you hear the sound indicating that a USB device has been unplugged and it starts to boot (I don't know if it is supposed to cause I've never had one of these phones in my hand that was working properly, only this broken one) but obviously gets stuck at LG logo. After a while I get an error from KDZ and thats it.
I also tried with LGMDP, which didn't work either. And obviously I tried a hard-reset, which didn't do anything.
I really don't know what to do with that stupid thing. But I am 100% convinced that it can be revived because emergency mode is still accessable.
Can any of you guys help me? Would be much appreciated!!
Cheers
Hard reset!! again...mb try to flash CWM and wipe data/cache/dalvik
Hard-Reset doesn't work. Just leaves me at the lg logo again. How do you flash CWM? You mean with LGDMP?
tried it, didn't do anything. Thanks for the effort though...
No. KDZ
I`ve broken CWM and killed my O1. And just flash CWM via KDZ and reflesh ROM. It helps me
@ElZeck, when you are flashing with KDZ, what is the error that you get? Also, what is the operating system on your computer? I think I had trouble using KDZ on Windows 7/8, but Windows XP worked just fine. Maybe you might want to try using KDZ on a different computer.
Hey guys, thanks for your replies!
@Kill4File: How do you flash CWM with KDZ? I tried with LGMDP but I wouldn't know what file I would need to do so with KDZ. Can you supply the file?
@sweetnsour: I don't recall the error exactly. I know it ran through parameters until 100 twice and then it got stuck at sth. like wPrm 8. That sound familiar to you? OS is Windows 7.
Just download a recovery like cwm or twrp, then extract the .img file and flash that through lgmdp.
Edit : if you start your phone what happens?

I remember my friend bricking his LG Mytouch, so I tried to help him out with KDZ. I believe you got a similar error (and he was also using Windows 7). I think looking for a different computer to use KDZ on might be the key, especially if you find a Windows XP computer. Basically Windows 7 caused trouble for my friend and me, and Windows 8 wasn't any better. My old XP desktop got the job done though.
This is what I do when I use KDZ (don't miss the words in bold):
1. Manually boot your phone into emergency mode, with emphasis on manually. To do so, hold Back + Vol Up + Power.
2. Plug the cable into the computer first, and then the other end into the phone, in that order. I know some people are used to plugging the cable into the phone first and then into the computer, but sometimes (at least when the phone is normally booted) the computer doesn't detect the phone.
2a. Just making sure, I assume that since your computer at least began the KDZ flash, you already have the drivers for your phone. If you do decide to try it on a different computer, remember to install the drivers (reasons on why I use Windows XP in the next step). Also, don't forget to disable the LGE Modem in Device Manager.
3. Open KDZ. I don't know why KDZ causes issues for me on Windows 7/8, but on those two operating systems, I get some sort of "compatibility issues." Also, KDZ likes to crash in the middle of a flash. Never had any of those issue in Windows XP (no crashes, and I believe KDZ was built for XP anyway since there aren't any compatibility issues).
4. Make sure you have it set to 3GQCT and DIAG. (If KDZ fails to flash, try the different options under PHONEMODE and also try shaking your phone during the flashing process). Browse to your KDZ file.
5. Begin the flashing process. No matter what happens on your phone (it reboots, makes noises, etc) don't remove the cable until KDZ reads "FINISHED".
6. If the phone fails to boot properly (stuck on bootanimation even though it flashed properly), yank the battery, and hold Home + Vol Down + Power. This will begin a hard reset.
If this is what you've been doing on Windows 7 and it still fails, I highly recommend using Windows XP.
Hopefully that helps

Unfortunately, I can't! Only emergency mode is accessable. Anything else (recovery, hard reset,...) leads to LG logo screen.

I had this. I took out the battery, replaced it and then plugged into the USB. Got charging screen. From there, adb reboot recovery, restored a backup, and got back up and running (assume you have a usable backup available).
Here is a way to revive your phone
If you can enter recovery mode, your phone is revibable. You can install CyanogenMod 7 Android 2.3.7.
First, you need to download CM7 ROM.
Then download Google Apps.
After you download these files, put your sdcard in other phone, then connect to computer via USB cable.
Transfer the downloaded zip files to sdcard.
Insert your sdcard in your LG Optimus One.
Put your phone into recovery mode(ClockWorkMod recovery is required).
Use Volume buttons to navigate and Menu/Search key to select.
From the main menu, select mounts and storage>format/system.
Also select format/data and format/cache.
Go to main menu and select wipe data/factory reset>yes.
Now,select install zip from sdcard>choose zip from sdcard and select downloaded zip
Also,install Google Apps.
Reboot your phone.
You'll see the LG logo,Don't Panic!Wait a few seconds, and the CM boot animation will appear.
First boot takes some long time to install updates.
You're done!

I do not know too many technicalities when it comes to adb or ubuntu, in fact i dont even know if those programs go on the phone or the computer through usb..

I can enter download mode using your "let phone die then try again method" but i dont know what to do from there..

I can confirm that that method worked for my G2. Make sure you press and hold volume up then plug the phone in. Hold volume up till you see the small box saying its in download mode.
The nice thing about this method it doesn't wipe your data.
Make sure you have downloaded the most current drivers first though before you plug in your phone. Then go to options and update recovery.

It worked for you because your partitions were not messed up. I know the procedure for getting into download mode, I tell you that it no longer works. Volume up while plugging usb in now gets me a battery charging icon . When you have a rooted phone running 4.4.2 and apply OTA update, it screws the partitions up. I can still send and receive calls, just can't sign into google or use playstore .

I had a similar problem with my T-Mobile LG G2 where I was rooted and accepted an OTA. It broke root and I couldn't get IOroot or Stumproot to work. Went to flash a downgrade and found the phone wouldn't go into download mode. It was NOT bricked. I finally tried playing around with the LG Mobile Support Tool (B2CAppSetup.exe). Of course it detected that my phone already had the latest firmware from T-Mobile, but then I clicked Options>Upgrade Recovery.
It downloaded for a while then I noticed it had put my phone into download mode (it said "Rooted" in red letters at the bottom). Then it flashed the same firmware over and I immediately tested, it entered download mode right away. But I didn't end up needing that as Stumproot was able to brute force it now after the recovery flash.
Anyway, I couldn't find an answer anywhere else. Most results also have a bricked phone, but that wasn't my issue. This solved my problem and maybe it could work for others.

mine is not different, just corrupted. Even took it to a craigslist repairman. He said that he did not have the expertise to repair it. It can't be put in recovery, download or fastboot mode. It also can't be rerooted.
ill ready repaired one equal but need it "octoplus box sw" for it
Hey all!
Long-time lurker, first-time poster in this subforum (as I have a G3 now). It's late and I'm writing this up here in case someone here has problems with their D850. Long story short: I downloaded CM 13 for the D855 and changed the updater-script and replaced d855 with d850. It flashed, but then it immediatelly rebooted and left me with fastboot, while it said it was receiving commands, they didn't complete. True bogus. LGFlashTool said the BIN file was for D850 but the model was D855 (which was wrong anyways).
Solution (it's late and I need to go to bed):
1. Download TOT (inside ZIP file) from this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64624324&postcount=2
2. Use THIS DLL FILE (yeah, it's for LGUP, but it works): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64624353&postcount=3 (The LGUP_LG_G3.zip - 16.9 Mb).
3. Open LGFlashTool using the first guide and whatnot. However, IN DLL FILE, use the DLL installed from the MSI file in the 2nd guide. In my computer, it was located here: C:\Program Files (x86)\LG Electronics\LGUP\model\8974\LGUP_8974.dll
4. Follow the flash guide. Hopefully it'll work up to the Factory Reset Status 3. Then, after a while LGFlashTool will be in red and say DOWNLOAD FAIL. OMG IT'S ALL OVER... Nope. Take your phone's battery out and place it back in...
Voilá! problem fixed!.
If I helped you get your phone back after the same trouble I went through and this post was useful, please send me a beer! (use the donate button at the left) I'll really appreciate it
Note: I don't know much about LG flashing, I only had this issue and figured I'd share the solution and pay back the favor
Thanks for contributing. This probably would have fixed my messed up G2 that I had to get rid of. I was also stuck in fastboot with no commands getting executed.
I'm not sure if your also able to help me on this one problem. After the flash tool reaches about 80% - 83% it says "waiting for reset 40 sec" and also resets my phone and briefly shows the android with small, blue loading bar under it. A second after it resets again and into a bootloop. If I leave it alone for awhile it goes into a blue screen with a red number 2.

No idea man, but I think you should wait until it reaches 3, then when it's at 3 you should take the battery out and then it should revive. That's what I did to mine anyways. Also, it takes a long while to reach 3, let it sit for about 30 minutes max I guess. I think I waited about 5, but your case may vary.
i have the same exact issue the .tot flashes suxcessfully and then the robot on reboot and then bootloop..but i dont ever get a red2 it just keeps rebooting

If you can't get into recovery you need to use LG Flash Tool to flash a stock ROM, this method may help.

thanks for the reply. yes I can enter into download mode with battery pulled off and connecting to pc with cable.
Hi Everyone, I realized this is a very old thread, but I have an old G3 phone that could only boot into the download mode. LG Flash tool expects fastboot mode, while LGUP tool showed unknow model and refused to proceed. Is there a way to force flash regardless in download mode?
Backgrond: my phone boot into fastboot mode before, but I might have flashed the wrong .img files and now it coud only boot into the download mode.
Thanks!
