Tricky: Optimus One stuck at LG logo - Optimus One, P500, V Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
I got a little problem here and would appreciate any help. As you might have guessed from the title I have an Optimus One here that won't boot. It is stuck on LG logo screen. The phone is not mine but my father-in-law's and I told him I would have a look since his warranty is already void. He told me that he turned it off because it was gettin really slow (and he does that from time to time to clear memory) and as he wanted to turn it on again, it was stuck on LG logo. And has been since. I can still access emergency mode though, but that's it!
Now, I know that there are a lot of threads that treat this problem but in every one of these threads people solve the problem by flashing a stock ROM via KDZ. And that doesn't work for me. It just won't go through with the whole process. I'm flashing in emergency mode and always at some point you hear the sound indicating that a USB device has been unplugged and it starts to boot (I don't know if it is supposed to cause I've never had one of these phones in my hand that was working properly, only this broken one) but obviously gets stuck at LG logo. After a while I get an error from KDZ and thats it.
I also tried with LGMDP, which didn't work either. And obviously I tried a hard-reset, which didn't do anything.
I really don't know what to do with that stupid thing. But I am 100% convinced that it can be revived because emergency mode is still accessable.
Can any of you guys help me? Would be much appreciated!!
Cheers

Hard reset!! again...mb try to flash CWM and wipe data/cache/dalvik

Hard-Reset doesn't work. Just leaves me at the lg logo again. How do you flash CWM? You mean with LGDMP?

tried it, didn't do anything. Thanks for the effort though...

No. KDZ
I`ve broken CWM and killed my O1. And just flash CWM via KDZ and reflesh ROM. It helps me

@ElZeck, when you are flashing with KDZ, what is the error that you get? Also, what is the operating system on your computer? I think I had trouble using KDZ on Windows 7/8, but Windows XP worked just fine. Maybe you might want to try using KDZ on a different computer.

Hey guys, thanks for your replies!
@Kill4File: How do you flash CWM with KDZ? I tried with LGMDP but I wouldn't know what file I would need to do so with KDZ. Can you supply the file?
@sweetnsour: I don't recall the error exactly. I know it ran through parameters until 100 twice and then it got stuck at sth. like wPrm 8. That sound familiar to you? OS is Windows 7.

Just download a recovery like cwm or twrp, then extract the .img file and flash that through lgmdp.
Edit : if you start your phone what happens?

Thanks for your reply, TheAndroidGeek, I already did that und it didn't change anything. When I start the phone, the LG logo pops up and that's it.

I remember my friend bricking his LG Mytouch, so I tried to help him out with KDZ. I believe you got a similar error (and he was also using Windows 7). I think looking for a different computer to use KDZ on might be the key, especially if you find a Windows XP computer. Basically Windows 7 caused trouble for my friend and me, and Windows 8 wasn't any better. My old XP desktop got the job done though.
This is what I do when I use KDZ (don't miss the words in bold):
1. Manually boot your phone into emergency mode, with emphasis on manually. To do so, hold Back + Vol Up + Power.
2. Plug the cable into the computer first, and then the other end into the phone, in that order. I know some people are used to plugging the cable into the phone first and then into the computer, but sometimes (at least when the phone is normally booted) the computer doesn't detect the phone.
2a. Just making sure, I assume that since your computer at least began the KDZ flash, you already have the drivers for your phone. If you do decide to try it on a different computer, remember to install the drivers (reasons on why I use Windows XP in the next step). Also, don't forget to disable the LGE Modem in Device Manager.
3. Open KDZ. I don't know why KDZ causes issues for me on Windows 7/8, but on those two operating systems, I get some sort of "compatibility issues." Also, KDZ likes to crash in the middle of a flash. Never had any of those issue in Windows XP (no crashes, and I believe KDZ was built for XP anyway since there aren't any compatibility issues).
4. Make sure you have it set to 3GQCT and DIAG. (If KDZ fails to flash, try the different options under PHONEMODE and also try shaking your phone during the flashing process). Browse to your KDZ file.
5. Begin the flashing process. No matter what happens on your phone (it reboots, makes noises, etc) don't remove the cable until KDZ reads "FINISHED".
6. If the phone fails to boot properly (stuck on bootanimation even though it flashed properly), yank the battery, and hold Home + Vol Down + Power. This will begin a hard reset.
If this is what you've been doing on Windows 7 and it still fails, I highly recommend using Windows XP.
Hopefully that helps

Unfortunately, I can't! Only emergency mode is accessable. Anything else (recovery, hard reset,...) leads to LG logo screen.
@sweetnsour: thanks for the detailed description but unfortunately that is exactly what I've been doing...
But there is one silver lining: I didn't try Win XP yet. I'll keep you updated...

I had this. I took out the battery, replaced it and then plugged into the USB. Got charging screen. From there, adb reboot recovery, restored a backup, and got back up and running (assume you have a usable backup available).

Here is a way to revive your phone
If you can enter recovery mode, your phone is revibable. You can install CyanogenMod 7 Android 2.3.7.
First, you need to download CM7 ROM.
Then download Google Apps.
After you download these files, put your sdcard in other phone, then connect to computer via USB cable.
Transfer the downloaded zip files to sdcard.
Insert your sdcard in your LG Optimus One.
Put your phone into recovery mode(ClockWorkMod recovery is required).
Use Volume buttons to navigate and Menu/Search key to select.
From the main menu, select mounts and storage>format/system.
Also select format/data and format/cache.
Go to main menu and select wipe data/factory reset>yes.
Now,select install zip from sdcard>choose zip from sdcard and select downloaded zip
Also,install Google Apps.
Reboot your phone.
You'll see the LG logo,Don't Panic!Wait a few seconds, and the CM boot animation will appear.
First boot takes some long time to install updates.
You're done!

I got a big problem

Hello, today i was updating my O3D to the official ICS when suddenly my crappy dell computer crashed. The flash failed and now the only thing my phone does is vibrate and show the LG logo then within 1 second it shuts off. I tried different ressurection guides and all failed. Even with the LG recovery it doesn't work. It detects my phone as cdma device and flashing works but when i try to start i got the same problem.
Anyone experienced this problem??
Thank you!
have you tried to flash kdzfile?

Aside from hardware damage , which is not likely , O3D is unbrickable.
You're probably not doing it right.
If it gets to the bootloader which is running under that lg logo you speak of , that means it's not totally bricked.
If it just shuts off than that means , it can't load the system partition because it's filesystem is either corrupted or nonexistent.
That's a good sign , that means it's looking for it , and if the bootloader is there , that means it can probably get into download mode without external help.
So , you need to get into download mode and flash a bin rom to your device.
Download LG Flashtool and install the correct drivers listed and linked in the resurrection guide.
Load the dll and the rom to it then press ready.
Use the resurrection guide to get into download mode , you can skip the part "omapboot" to get into download mode if you can get into download mode without it. (Remove the battery press the vol + button and you hear a connected then disconnected , then in the second connected you plug the battery in.) If you installed the drivers correctly it will get into download mode. If it doesn't start over , you probably did something wrong or you need omapboot.
Don't worry i faced a couple of scary and frustrating hours in my first time but you'll get through.
Use the guide for everything you need.
Alternatively , you can always take it to your LG Service Center...

[Q] Hi and n00b needs help

Hi all nice to be here have had a good look thru forum and i reckon its the place for help
Please bear in mind when replying...yes I am a noob and a loser and yes my mum did say i am special ...
Anyway here goes
Have(had) a p920 on 2.2.2 and upgraded to 2.35
got a bit over excited and decided i wanted more so like an idiot i tried "jellybam" didnt back anything up and JB has made my phone pretty much unusable for anything except as a wedge under my car front wheel to stop it rolling down the drive (the handbrake isnt holding that well)
If i could i would just go back to original but i have no back up and I have read your forum and i do not understand all the cm10, ICS etc etc references
Could anyone give me a guide on how to make my phone usable again (i have cwm installed) and could it be in words phrases i understand
Thanks folks
Hi.
I would recommend you to try and flash the latest firmware with LG Mobbile Support Tool. It's not that hard and you can't do anything wrong with the phone so don't worry.
Start the app, install the driver for your phone(you'll have an option for that on your right), connect the phone and if your phone gets detected you'll have an option to upgrade to v30(that's ICS and it's faster and better than GB).
This way you'll flash ICS but you'll have all your data, sms, apps etc from your previous rom.
If that doesn't work for you, follow this tut and you'll be on Xbsalls V8 rom that's prerooted ICS rom with TWRP custom recovery(TWRP is also recovery, like CWM).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39269819
I use this rom and it's very good.
Anyway you can flash some other rom in TWRP if you don't like it...
But ALWAYS BACKUP YOUR ROM BEFORE FLASHING ANYTHIIIIIIING.
We all learn that the hard way...

Did you use the right KDZ or extracted files (with the DLL file with same model as what's printed on IMEI sticker after pulling out battery - like "MODEL: LG-P920" for example)? I had the same problem. Wrong DLL usually cause that.
EDIT: Is your phone P925 (aka AT&T LG Thrill 4G)? If so, I have P925 DLL. Also try flashing V21D/E or V28 baseband.

Thanks again m8 but i daren't use that guide, i really appreciate the author of its work but its so anmbiguos as it doesnt really explain clearly when you should remove cables etc etc for example
step 9 connect your phone using the usb cable
but by step 12 connect your phone using the usb cable
I am not exactly clear when i was supposed to remove the cable that was put in at step 9
I have caused so much hassle already that if i can find someone in the uk who is not a complete retard at this like me i would happily pay them to fix the phone

Step 8-unplugg your phone??
Anyway, all the tuts are just the pointers.Try and see and if youre stuck at some point, come back and ask.(but in the thread of that tut that you're using)
Just reading isn't going to take you anywhere.
By the way read thoroughly before doing anything...
I was a giga mega ultra noob before I started playing with my phone and now, few months later and more thatn 10roms later(with a gazillion bootloops and softbricks) I know what I'm doing..
Everything you need is in this forum and belive me if your hardware is good, your phone is fixable.
Xbsall and the others made sure of that.
Just relax and folow the first link that I gave you, the drastic00's guide to V8.

Sorry m8 not trying to diss that poster but truly its not clear at all and i have tried and tried all the parts and it just doesnt happen
step 8 unplugg your phone??
step 9- Now pull out battery, hold vol-up and connect your phone using the usb cable <----so phone is now plugged in
step 10- Your phone should be now in fastboot mode <---- no reference to unplugging phone
step 11- In device manager, you will LG COSMO, install now it's driver which is included in OS_HACKING package. <----no there are NO drivers in that package
step 12- Now one more time run OS_HACKING tool, hold vol-up and connect your phone using the usb cable <plug your phone back in? Sorry i didnt know i was supoosed to unplug it
step 13- Flash the GB bootloaders then flash CWM recovery <--------I have no idea what these are or how to do as there is no reference to them previously in this guide
As i said i rerally appreciate any help but that guide just doesnt make it clear enough for a complete doofuss like me
Tries this guide too http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1942836 but no joy
Its weird cos I can boot to cwm and install a jellybam rom from an external sd card but I cannot successfully install any other rom from it (i am not sure if just doing the wipes then installing a rom downloaded from this site is the right thing to do.
Thanks again

You can find the drivers for LG Cosmo in wsParks omap4boot: http://d-h.st/U08 (i took this link from the resurrection guide).
Afher you instal this important driver.
You can open the omap4boot.
Just type a 2 and connect you phone to the usb.
If text is scrolling in the interface, plug in your bat and hold vol up.
You will enter normal download mode and ready to flash with LG flashtool/smartflash.
Hi thanks but i just got as far as this in the guide, the phone rebooted set itself up and seems to be working fine, without wanting to screw it up anymore, can i just not leave it as is, everything seems to be working wifi, sim etc etc do i actually need to do what it says in the rest of the guide ? added a pic cos am not clear about baseband stuff etc
A) Install LG Flash Tool by running "Setup_LGFlashTool_1.1." Let install but uncheck the ‘open LG Flash Tool’ box (don’t run it yet). The package comes with version 1.2, but 1.1 is what I used.
B) Copy the file ”LGFlashTool” from the “FILE.ZIP” folder over the file of the same name into the ” LG Flash Tool 1.1” folder. This will unlock the program.
C) Right click on "LGFlashTool," found in the same folder you just copied into and choose "Run as administrator."
D) Check the box that says "Select Manual Mode."
E) Click the "..." button to the right of the "DLL" field, then choose "LGP920_110622.dll" file you downloaded. This file helps Windows to write the correct information to the phone.
F) To the right of the "S/W" field, choose "Add" and navigate to/select "28bROOT_AP.bin." This is the official ICS file, but with root access and TWRP recovery.
G) Be sure the button for "USB" is selected. Click OK.
H) Choose the port settings icon that looks like a serial cable.
h1) Check Port 1.
h2) It should select the first 3 check boxes when you do this; "16 Ports," "Port 1 ~ Port 16," and "1" should be checked.
h3) Click OK.
I) Click the yellow arrow (start). You should see "Ready!" at the top left.
J) Insert the battery into the phone. While holding the volume up button on the phone, connect it to the pc with the sync cable. The phone should start flashing (i.e. LG Flash Tool will start writing the file). NOTE: if Flash Tool will not connect, try holding volume up, connecting the USB/sync cable, and THEN connecting battery (while holding volume up). Don't touch it until the process is complete. The phone will boot up. Once it boots up it is OK to disconnect the phone
K) The phone will NOT boot up completely. There will be a message about factory reset (but the button will not let you proceed), or the phone may stick at the LG logo. Long press power to shut off the phone. Hold Volume down + Power. Alternatively, try Home (i.e. house on keypad) + Volume down + Power. You should get a text screen about factory resetting. Press power twice to confirm. Let it reset and boot up.<--------------------------------------- GOT TO HERE SUCCESSFULLY :fingers-crossed:
L) Set up the phone. Then shut it down again.
M) Next we will flash the baseband (.fls) file. Redo steps 2C through 2J. But replace "28bROOT_AP.bin" with "28bROOT_CP.fls" in LG Flash Tool. The process of flashing a baseband will NOT complete to 100% in LG Flash Tool. That’s OK. I got to 155 seconds and it worked.
N) If you have connection problems (the 28b baseband is working for me), you may want to get another baseband from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1974734. Download the file you need and repeat steps 2B through 2J with your preferred file.

If you dont have issues with 3g or calls, you dont nessesery have to flash your baseband.
But in many times it will be better you do.

Boot back in to your recovery and wipe cache and dalvik cache. Format system and then install your ROM. There are major differences between CM11 and CM7. When making big jumps like that it's always best to format system before installing a ROM.

In CWM select Wipe data/factory reset. This will wipe the cache, dalvik cache and a couple other partitions. Then go to Mounts and Storage and select Format System. That will format the system partition.
Now go back to CWM home screen and install your ROM.

Hi,
May I ask for help here (instead of creating a new thread) ? I have the same problem: The device is booting loop at the LG screen. Bricked it when I wanted to save the ROM with ROM Manager.
I have no access to recovery mode, but Emergency mode does work (With and without battery).
I've followed multiple guides, including this one:
Most of you are stuck on a yellow screen with”Emergency mode!!” or the phone is not responding at all. You guys wanted a custom rom like Optimus Prime-v2 and let me tell you, this time it will work. Optimus One P500 comes with stock android 2.2 – V10a, V10b … and android 2.2.1 – V10n. They might be done for different regions depending upon the phone release and its popularity and definitely bug fixes and enhancements. To have Prime-v2 on your handset you will require V10a or V10b on your handset. Reason, V10n stock cannot be rooted easily. Rooting the handset is must if Prime-v2 is required on the device. Steps to install V10a, V10b series. I am using Windows 7 32-bit, 3 GB RAM laptop:
1. Clean your system first; get rid of LG PC suite and other stuff shown in Uninstall Program with vendor name as LG. Remove MSXML builts from the handset. Remove Nokia and other drivers if they are on system like Ovi suite etc. I also removed a lot of Microsoft runtime environments. Not sure about the reason but it worked for me.
2. LG usb device drivers, download the application B2CAppSetup.exe http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/client/app/B2CAppSetup.exe .
3. In the Menu Bar, click "Options & Help", and click "Country & Language". Select the appropriate Country & Language. I used India and select P500 from the list that popup after you change the country and region. It will download, install and save the drivers somewhere in C:\LGP500\USB_Driver, it will prompt to open the rar files, just click and install the exes seen in them.
4. Reboot the system.
5. Right click on Computer -> Properties -> Device Manager and see for three drivers – LG android usb modem, LGE serial usb port and LG composite USB device. Disable the modem driver and reboot once again.
6. Switch off the phone and press volume up + BACK button + POWER button. Phone should turn yellow with text “Emergency Mode!!” To switch it off you have to remove the battery (I know it hurts, but that’s the only way out here). Switch off and let’s continue with the setup.
7. To do the KDZ of system you will require the KDZ software updater, links keep going off and on internet. Try searching for “KDZ_FW_UPD_EN” or “KDZ_FW_UPD_EN.7z” in Google and download the software. It should be somewhere around 2.3 MB. To use it you will required some good version of WinZip or winrar again Google it and install the 7z archive utility.
8. Install msxml.msi as the manual or readme.txt says to do so.
9. To get the V10x Official ROM, you need to first determine the ROM of your choice. List of all firmware available for LG Optimus One P500 (list of codes) http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/ezlooks_model_list.jsp?model=LGP500 , search for your country (use IE it looks sexy in it), I looked out for IND/INDIA. Download link to the ROM is http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/swdata/WEBSW/LGP500/XXXXX/V10a_00/V10A_00.kdz where XXXX is code from list of codes. In my case it was: AINDBK. Save the file.
10. Prepare the handset by removing the SD card and boot it to emergency mode (some are already stuck on it so reading this post…: D) using the key combination stated above.
11. Connect to the PC and it should say, installing drivers’ blah… blah … your device is ready to use now.
12. Run the KDZ updater downloaded in step 7. Select 3GQCT in Type, DIAG in PhoneMode, and browse for ROM V10a in KDZ file and hit Launch Software update. Wait for somewhere around 5-10 minutes. It should say ===FINISHED=== in the log window of updater.
13. Handset will reboot, if not wait for another 5 minutes. Unplug from USB and try to switch it on.

My problem is that KDZ still doesn't find my phone after all these attempts - I uninstalled the device driver, then reinstalled it succesfully (B2CAppSetup.exe). I reboot, install msxml.msi, and start KDZ.
Next, I power my phone in Emergency phone, plug it, and it is detected for the first time by the computer. I do have LGE Android Platform Composite USB Device, listed in the Device Manager, as well as LGE Android Platform USB Modem.
Using KDZ, I select the "3GQCT" type, phone mode "DIAG", with the correct KDZ file I've downloaded earlier. Once I launch the software update, phone is not found.
I've tried several times, including desactivating the LG Modem from the Device Manager; unfortunately, when I disable it I need to reboot - I do reboot, but then the LGE Android Platform Composite USB Device is absent from the device manager, and isn't detected by Windows at all, until I fully reinstall the driver (...).
I really don't know what I'm doing wrong - note that I use a laptop with Windows 7 x64; I know laptops handle USB port in a different way than desktops.
Can you help please?
I must be SO close... =(
Thanks, I really appreciate it!

Hi,
May I ask for help here (instead of creating a new thread) ? I have the same problem: The device is booting loop at the LG screen. Bricked it when I wanted to save the ROM with ROM Manager.
I have no access to recovery mode, but Emergency mode does work (With and without battery).
I've followed multiple guides, including this one:

First, serious word of advice. Stay away from ROM Manager. It does not handle this device correctly.
It sounds to me like you are not entering Emergency Mode correctly. Yes, the LG USB Modem must be disabled. Power off the device. Press the "Back + Volume Up + Power" buttons together until the device boots to Emergency Mode. Now connect device to you PC/laptop. This can also be done with the battery removed and the device off. Same method except no power button involved. Press the "Volume Up + Back" buttons while attaching your device to your data cable, assuming it's already attached to your PC/laptop.
The attachment I've posted is a stripped down version of the KDZ Updater. All you need to supply is the correct KDZ file for your phone. This one does not require any of LG's other crap software either.
Download to your PC. Extract to a folder of your choosing. Read the ReadMe.txt carefully and follow it's directions to the letter. I just used this to revive two ( 2 ) bricked P506's.
If you can boot to fastboot mode, there is a tool in my signature, Android Flash Recovery, that is designed to flash a recovery to a device with fastboot. So you have two options to restore, revive your device.

Hey, cheers !!
That was all I needed to do with this simple version, the update got applied properly, and I saw the FINISHED message.
My phone "rebooted". Well, what I see now if the Android logo with a big " ! ", which is normal according to what I've read.
I will do more ressearch to make sure what I do if correct now: is this safe to power off/reboot at this screen? I believe it's the last step.

Holding the power button does not shut it down - pull the battery, right (It won't screw the thing right before the end ? XD ) ?
Look.. correct:
12 - Start the phone again. If you get stuck in a screen with an Android and an exclamation mark ("!") in a triangle, just unplug the USB cable and the battery. Plug the battery again and start the phone. It will take 2 to 5 minutes to reboot for the first time and the boot animation will be the stock LG (your carrier's stock animation is lost for good), but chances are your phone is intact, with all it's apps and configurations working the same as before the incident. When the boot finishes, turn off the phone again and put back the SD Card you took off on the first step.

If KDZ Updater says it's done and your device has rebooted to recovery, then yes you can pull the battery to shut it down. You may still need to do the key presses for a factory reset, but the key combo has slipped my mind for the moment. Old age...

Really nice, I have the Android logo !!
I will wait - people says it can take up to 5-15 minutes or even more - I won't shutdown on the logo.
Letting you know as soon as it's done.

After a while, the device booted, and I had a few messages saying it was restoring all the settings!
No data loss! Nothing (I had backed up my contacts and apps on my SD Card already - I was unsure if I would have loose my SMSs, I didn't) is lost !
Dude, seriously, thanks A BUNCH - this is ridiculous, I screwed the phone up at like 10PM yesterday, and did not went to sleep until 2AM because I couldn't fix the thing (I had access to FastBoot at first. I did a process to restore it from Fastboot, it should have worked properly, but then I only had access to the LG logo. Man, I thought I was toasted, and had to spend 50$ for a new phone, just because of a stupid mistake. Never would I thought that SAVING the ROM of my SD card would have screwed up the ROM!)...
I spent like 6 hours today trying to fix it, reinstalling the drivers over and over again... Installing a fresh new Windows XP on a machine, just so I could install everything on a new operating system to figure out the problem...
That was just plain crazy, seriously.
****BONUS****
The first thing I've noticed when I booted my phone was the BLACK notification bar
I really love black, and I once did ressearch a while ago to see if I could turn my white bar into black (I have Android 2.2.1), but no success.
I just realised I got it updated "accidentally" to Android 2.3, and so I was on Android 2.2. since 2011 (when I bought it) !
Well, nice addition, it is sexier with black
I belive it's because of the KDZ file I've used... I had a really hard time to find one, all the links were broken, from 2010, it's a old phone. I found the KDZ from Koodo, Canadian French, exactly my own.
Guess I "accidentally" upgraded to Android 2.3 then Nice addition !
I have no experience at all with fixing Android devices / ROM stuff - I'm used with Windows/Linux and others, but Android (although Android is a version of Linux) is another thing for me.
THANKS - seriously, I wouldn't have made it without your help.

Thanks for your reply but I don't think that works, cause the link you have me is how to root device.
It still restores the image, you can choose to root or not

Any luck fixing it ?
Kdz flashtool could solve the problem or using an usb.... U could leave the phone until the battery goes off and then recharge a little bit and try download mode again... the first method should work ... press the buttons correctly and connect the usb... working in 95%
same problem
tried the mentioned comments but still nothing for me.
PLEASE PLEASE let me know if you fix the problem OP

could you please explain what you did?
my lgg2 d801 simply boots into the LG logo screen and stays there til it dies.
I do not know too many technicalities when it comes to adb or ubuntu, in fact i dont even know if those programs go on the phone or the computer through usb..
simple clarifications would make the world of difference to me as my phone is useless now.
I can enter download mode using your "let phone die then try again method" but i dont know what to do from there..
Please help me restore my phone to the 4.4.2 kitkat i had previously
thannks in advance
d801 problems
I have a D801 that was rooted on 4.4.2, and I stupidly took the OTA update. I can still use my phone to make calls, but nothing associated with google works. The phone will not boot into download mode, there is no recovery and no fast boot. I have tried everything. It will no reroot or anything . Is there anything that I can do.

I can confirm that that method worked for my G2. Make sure you press and hold volume up then plug the phone in. Hold volume up till you see the small box saying its in download mode.
The nice thing about this method it doesn't wipe your data.
Make sure you have downloaded the most current drivers first though before you plug in your phone. Then go to options and update recovery.

It worked for you because your partitions were not messed up. I know the procedure for getting into download mode, I tell you that it no longer works. Volume up while plugging usb in now gets me a battery charging icon . When you have a rooted phone running 4.4.2 and apply OTA update, it screws the partitions up. I can still send and receive calls, just can't sign into google or use playstore .

I had a similar problem with my T-Mobile LG G2 where I was rooted and accepted an OTA. It broke root and I couldn't get IOroot or Stumproot to work. Went to flash a downgrade and found the phone wouldn't go into download mode. It was NOT bricked. I finally tried playing around with the LG Mobile Support Tool (B2CAppSetup.exe). Of course it detected that my phone already had the latest firmware from T-Mobile, but then I clicked Options>Upgrade Recovery.
It downloaded for a while then I noticed it had put my phone into download mode (it said "Rooted" in red letters at the bottom). Then it flashed the same firmware over and I immediately tested, it entered download mode right away. But I didn't end up needing that as Stumproot was able to brute force it now after the recovery flash.
Anyway, I couldn't find an answer anywhere else. Most results also have a bricked phone, but that wasn't my issue. This solved my problem and maybe it could work for others.

mine is not different, just corrupted. Even took it to a craigslist repairman. He said that he did not have the expertise to repair it. It can't be put in recovery, download or fastboot mode. It also can't be rerooted.

[Q] Ok so my device is not quite dead but close please help

Hi Everyone,
I've come on bended knee, and I have about 30 xda windows up where Ive tried to upgrade a perfectly working LG from android 2.2. But no matter what I try I cant get beyond the LG wink icon on the screen.
I have tried fastboot omao4boot 1.22 modified etc but I cant get past MLO (x-loader) I say YES to this but NO to 'fastboot devises' as per instructions (although why I say no to this, I dont know?) anyway it just says 'waiting for device' but nothing happens even if I take the battery out and disconnect from USB and reconnect, nothing ever happens?
So having redone the fastboot procedure, I managed to into boot mode - yellow round icon on screen and then tried to flash using LG flash tool 1.2 with LGP920 30A bin & fls files which it does and completes successfully, I have also used the LG recovery tool to flash recovery and firmware but all of the above wont let me boot the devise it just sits at the LG Icon.
Tried booting into recovery with 3d + vol + key but just ignores and goes to red LG Icon with the usual boot sound, I just cant get anything else to work! Is it down to the MLO loader issue. I dont know what else to do.
Please can anyone help me recover my phone I wanted to upgrade to JellycreamR5 cause its suppose to be a good rom but nothing now works :crying:
I know its not a busy forum now days and most have moved on, but please any assistance to get this beautiful phone going again would be brilliant.
Thanks for the time to read about this dilemma!
ATB
Ok, so if it boots to the LG logo with boot sound it is probably nothing wrong with bootloaders. It is either the system or just something incompatible on the data partition. Of you can make it too recovery try factory reset
Ok I think Ive fixed it!
Did lots of things to try to get to work, but heres roughly the guide.
Used 'rebooter' for Optimus 3d which saved the phone in the 1st instance, it was the only flasher that completed the flash... but remember 1st unplug the phone but micro usb in then remove the battery, then hold the + vol key and insert into the Win XP computer usb, I had already prepared and ran the rebooter.bat file which was waiting for omao device. Once detected keep hold the + key add battery when it says wait 5 secs, dont let the key go, say NO to flash boot but yes to the rest. It will say job done or words to that effect.
Turn on phone holding just the + key to get into download mode. Change the LGE CDMA USB SERIAL PORT to com41 in control panel device manager, refresh search for new hardware to check updated port.
Then use LG Flash to flash V3.0A which worked !
Disconnect the phone remove battery and reinsert, reboot devise, it will boot in TWRP which isnt great but good enough for flash, loaded a Rom onto the sd card and installed the software, after the usual clearing everything like Delvick/Settings etc.
Job done, rebooted and worked, still got TRWP on the boot loading would prefer Clockwork but never mind, had enough of fiddling and just enjoying having my device back
Havent tried a sim in it but might have to to the IMEI fix but hoping not.
Many thanks for your input, I know tech moves on, but there is a wealth on knowledge on these devices and it just seems to be lost in the ether.
Best wishes.
