Phone to replace my LG G4 - General Questions and Answers

I bought an LG G4 3 months ago on swappa. I have since regretted the decision. Everything has gone wrong. It drops WiFi, and data locks up on cellular meaning I have to toggle airplane mode in and off and it's dropping calls. It also no longer charges so I have to swap batteries every time I want to charge. This phone has got to go...
My phone needs.
-1 day of battery life with at least 6 hours of screen time.
-quick OS updates
-decent camera with manual mode preferred
-good water resistance rating. Should be able to survive being in my pocket through a good rain storm.
-decent quality screen in sunlight.
- t mobile band 12
-less than 300 on swappa
What I don't care about
-benchmarks, as long as the phone is responsive.
-Screen size.
I mostly just use the phone for Facebook, Web browsing, and watching videos. I don't play games.
Is there a phone out there that can live up to this. I was looking at the moto x play, but it never came to the US and lacks band 12/VOLTE

HTC one a9 pretty good
Lg flex 2
Lg v10
Sony xperia x
Sony z3 plus
Samsung s5 or s6

One plus one 1st edition, its ace after 2 years. Great 5.5 screen, great camera and fast. And to think I only paid 225 pounds delivered!

I suggest you Sony Xperia Z2 as this flagship is worth buying.. And the variants of Sony like Z3 Z4 Z5 will be better if you keep them aside.

Smartwatch 3?!

Hello, I saw this and I think that Sony are making a new smartwatch and it could be announced at the CES.
http://www.engadget.com/2013/12/24/sony-wrist-notifier-bt-fcc/?ncid=rss_truncated
And the worst thing is that I just recently bought SW2
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
yeah, read it on talkandroid, wonder if it's really a watch or something completely different
Some are guessing it could be a fitness device to compete with fit bit and Nike fuel bands
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app
I really hope it will be some kind of Nike Fuel band or a bracelet with a small LCD screen to show notifications with icons... I'm saying this because i've bought a SW2 for christmas so I hope that Sony will stick up with this for updates in the next months. And IMHO Sony Mobile should advertise a lot more its products.
I just got mine a month ago but I'd like to see a new one with a speaker/mic for calls and texts via google now, that would be the perfect one to me
I am hoping that the next watch to have Google now, and a better higher res screen and possible running android as than It would be fast as at the moment it sometimes takes 5 seconds to open an app

I doubt it's a watch. It's probably an nfc wristband

Well, apparently the live view was called the BT watch notifier and so was the SW1. So theres a possibility that it could be a watch

It seems odd they would release a new one only 4 months after this one. If they do I shall not be happy.

Well, given the several iterations higher model number, the new watch could be their Galaxy Gear competitor with a price tag to match, ie their flagship/highend watch, and the SW2 will be their mid-line watch.
I hope too will be a Nike fuel thing. Not because I have bought the sw2 but I need a freaking pedometer that just works and can show phone notifications.

Now that CES is right around the corner with the expectations of new smartwatches being announced by Archos.,Cockoo, Samsung (Gear 2) etc,. SONY might just announce the SW3. After all they would not want to be behind the competition. Now they also have a pretty good idea about how Samsung perceives a smartwatch. But what SONY should do is improve upon the software rather than coming up for a new device.
Which is sad for me as I recently purchased mine (about a month ago) like many of you.
But lets see what CES brings us. I am actually quite curious about the Archos offering as it is expected to be a low cost (even lower than Pebble) smartwatch.
Pebble Steel looks nice, but only at a discounted price.

I wonder what SONY is planning to do with many new smartwatches being announced. They should respond either with a new product or a stellar firmware upgrade to SW2. Otherwise competition is getting tougher each day.

Meta from metawatch seems pretty good looks wise. A week battery life is a plus too. I don't really care for a color display. If the software side is good and the price isn't ridiculous, I would seriously consider it.

Does the ROM made for single SIM variant works on the dual SIM model, I mean does the 1SIM work perfectly...atleast 1SIM should work properly!
For sure an upgrade from my Samsung Galaxy SII, Epic 4g Touch. Mostly the battery and the screen. The camera is honestly slightly worse, but I don't instagram my food so it's not a huge deal to me.

Yes, perfectly normal - as long as you're using it on the first sim slot. Doing it myself on mine.
Go for it dude. I got the XT1032 (single-SIM) for 16.5K a few weeks ago, because I was concerned a lot about dev. support. But, seems like you can go with the XT1033 as well as it seems to support most ROMs.
buy it, you wont be disapointed. just remember if you let it discharge completely and it wont turn on or recharge - keep the power button pressed until it turns on
Fantastic phone for the money. Feels like a Nexus, looks like one, performs like one. Great phone, **** 2G battery drain though lol.

Amazing battery
High quality body better than any phone in this range
Con's
Camera is 5mp but that not big of an issue given the price
Battery charges a bit slow
The RAM is 1GB but haven't had any issues yet in playing any games or anything else

I have moto g and I got the optimus g pro(New at atf is 333 bucks) while the g is a great phone the pro has been in my hands and I haven't even thought bout my g.
It depends on budget and what you need in a phone. I really enjoying have lte again and the pro has more bang for buck for another 100+ but if you need a unlocked phone then the g is your best bet.

Worth buying it now?

Hey guys!
Is it worth buying the sw2 now? I heard that it had some issues at release with the button on the side and the stability of the firmware. Did it improve in newer firmwares? Is it worth using it with the xzu for quick replying on whatsapp ? Is a sw3 planned? I would appreciate any help. Thanks guys ! I am not sure if I should buy one but actually I really would like to. Just want to be 100% sure if its worth.

I'm planning to buy this smartwatch too and chose this one over android wear because it's just so awkward to talk to your watch lol but the question is where do I buy it... I have 2 of these Sony's and as much as they have niggles (hardware and software) they only cost £70 each. I couldn't resist the Android Wear so purchased the LG G Watch for more than the price of both Sonys. The LG is going back to Google.
Pro's and Con's of all these devices so only you can decide what's right for you.
But until the beautiful Moto 360 is out, the Sony will be my choice of wrist gadget.
Yes, specially i think most shops around the world they dropped the price of Sony Smartwatch 2, It may not be the coolest and latest watch to date but it got a lot of available apps, better battery life than any smartwatch out there(except Pebble), Design is one among the best,
All of Android Wear LG G Watch and Gear Live(and maybe Moto 360) they don't last more than 1 day, and both of them require lots of swiping to do something.
I think I am going to Buy it next week. Very excited!

I got mine already and it is amazing!! The funny thing is that I went to a random bestbuy store in a random mall and I asked a random person and she was like: oh a Sony smartwatch? Please don't buy this watch i've Sony SW2 and also Samsung Galaxy Gear. Absolutely i can say real SMART watch is Galaxy Gear, SW2's only name called SMART actually its totally dumb, if buy SW2 you got only some changeable wallpaper and watch face. But If buy Gear (not Gear 2) you will got real smart watch, you can develop android apps and you can run apps without phone. SW2, except some very limited things nothing can do without smart phone, because all apps installing and running on the phone. But with Galaxy Gear, you can transfer APK files directly to watch and you can run this APPs on the watch without phone. With Gear you can develope android apps and install them on Gear directly.

If you were SMART enough you would've read the bottom line of his post and you would know that he has a xperia z and not a Samsung device so a galaxy gear ain't gonna work
AND pretty much all galaxy gears get sold with the tizen OS on it and that can't do the things you mention and of course you can spend your time on downgrading the watch to android but again something like a watch should work out of the box

Upgrade Nexus 5 to...?

I would like to upgrade my phone soon, but with the Nexus 6 disappointment I have no idea what to. I would like at least 32gb of storage, good camera, and better battery life than the nexus 5. I was looking at the G2, but it has to have 1700/2100 AWS frequencies. Any suggestions?

The N5 is a budget smartphone, and was dirt cheap for what you got. You cant expect every phone out there to follow the same pricing model. I dont know why you think it's disappointing, it's a 2014 smartphone with 2014 specs. It has the same specs as the S5, HTC One M8, G3, but better build quality and performance, and cheaper than all of them. Just wait for the sale that you mentioned, thats an amazing price. And yeah it has the same GPU as the N5 but it is clocked higher, and side by side it is noticeably faster and smoother than the N5 is.
check the new Asus Zenfone 2 (Intel Atom, 4GB RAM)

Moto G + Cardboard

How good is virtual reality experience with it?
i dont think so, i dont have a Cardboard but the screen of the moto g 2015 isnt realy good.
There is no gyroscope so VR head movements don't work.. The quality is bad. Overall you can try is out but not worth it. You can use VR for watching movies.. Feels like you are in a theatre.
