Hi guys, I bought the above phone off Amazon. I found out this very strange device also had a root-enabled kernel out of the box, but my question is about recovery. I want to install CWM as a first choice, if not that, TWRP, but a Google search only tuns up loose references to MTK6589 which is presumably the SoC, but nothing for my specific model. Currently when I reboot to recovery with any root app it shows 'no command' (maybe there is no recovery installed to the recovery partition?) and when entering bootloader mode the device displays what is seen in the attached photo.
I would appreciate any help on getting a working recovery set up on this device.
Thanks!

Hi, I also have one of these phones and have been looking at recovery options with little success.
However I have found a set of instructions in the XDA University about porting CWM. (unfortunalty I can't post a link due to being a Noob, but if you Google 'porting cwm' it should be the top result).
I am going to be attempting to do this once I have got my PC set up dual boot for Linux.
Will post back with news on how it's going. Would appreciate any progress you have made about a recovery option.
Regards
Mad.
first, make a backup of your device using mtk droid tools.
if phone isn`t rooted yet, use this tutorial:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2332783
for the recovery, you need to unpack your recovery.img, take the kernel zImage and put it in the cwm-recovery. for mt6589 phones, this one should work: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2357875
you can unpack/repack your boot.img with this tools:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1587411
after obtaining new recovery.img, flash it through SP flash tool or mobileuncle tools.
Recovery Quirk
Chrizzly, thanks for the pointers, will be checking out the tools tonight.
Found a quirk though, may just be my phone.
I booted into recovery last night and as expected the "no commands" came up, but then I took the back off the phone and a recovery menu appeared. Had options in there like reboot, delete cache, delete delvik cache....
I'm assuming this is the stock recovery.
I tested it again this morning and booting into recovery and then taking the back off the phone made the menu appear!!
Any one else care to test and see if it's a stock thing or just a quirk of my phone.
replied before, my post disappeared.. this isn`t related to your device , this is recovery-typical. it is showing the android first, without a menu. you need to press hardware buttons, to get into the menu( this is device-specific, you need to try that, also buttons on the touch screen, if there are some) this will usually bring you in recovery MENU. think you accidently pressed one of these buttons while opening the device.

Re: Stock recovery. Thought it was a button press that got me in first time but I tried it several times and no button worked just pulling the back off. Little puzzled about that but it's something I can live with!!

Re: Files. Thanks for the files, going to try them out as soon as I can!!
Done
I have got CWM working on my i9389 now, there was a few quirks in getting it going.
The method I used was as posted in the MTK Droid Root & Tools thread by rua1.
TIPS
Leave the battery out when doing read back or flash in Flash Tools.
Not mentioned in the instruction is the MTK vcom drivers which you will need and can be found in the Root tutorial posted by Chrizzly a bit further up.
Make sure you read the instructions by rua1 closely and use the images posted as it's not always straight forward.
Last tip pay attention to where MTK tools puts the files it creates, had me stumped for a bit!! I've never been very good at following instructions!!

I managed to boot loop mine while messing with a ROM I made (it's not finished yet) but managed to recover by re-flashing using the Flash Tools a back up I had taken just after installing CWM.
Do you have a back up you can flash?
I have just checked mine and even zipped it's still 800MB so I can't email it to you...
...sure if I looked about I could find somewhere to upload it to for you. PM me if you need this!!
The sd holder broke off, can i buy this http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-list...w?ie=UTF8&condition=new&qid=1379198350&sr=8-1 the galaxy s3 i9300 sd card slot holder and put it on my haipai i9389? or do i need specific haipai i9389 sd card slot holder.
Hi everyone, I've got a Sony d2305. I've got also a problem: I flashed the incorrect rom on this device and, after the boot, I began seeing a black and yellow screen with a red warning saying "Mismatch!!" and below: Model [eagle_lte] and Software[eagle_ss]. I'm keeping seeing even now that I flashed the correct rom over it. The weird thing is that sometimes if I turn my phone in landscape mode when this warning is showing you can see the normal working Android below it! So I'm here to ask if there's a way (Cwm, flashtool or other tools) to completely delete all the stuff I've in my phone and then put again my CWM and from there install zips of roms. Thank you for answering
-a desperate noob :crying:
Use flashtools and install correct ftf for your phone model. Everything should be fixed after that.
hey guys! I really need help. Actually i have a LG L70 D325 phone and i rooted it few days ago. After that, i installed CMW recovery and i also instaled ROM Manager. I used ROM Manager to install CyanogenMod 12.1 and after that, i installed GApps. As I didnt like the CyanogenMod 12.1 apps, i installed "Cleanser Mod 2.0" . I ran this with ROM Manager and i removed all app in cyanogenMod 12.1. (well, there was a list and i just selected everything. After that, i reboot it and it got stuck on" Android is starting.. starting apps".. its not starting. I want to boot on CWM recovery again but its not working ! I read about volume keys and power button (I tried everything !!), but its not going on CWM recovery !!!. It just boot the "LG logo" again and again till i let go and it continues showing the cyanogen logo and eventually gets stuck on "Android is starting.. ".. i tried connecting it to pc by USB but my pc is not recognising cause the phone is switched off i guess !
Please help me ! I really need my mobile phone !!!
Hi there,
Please make sure you can access Download Mode by turning off your phone, then hold Volume Up and plugging in your USB cable.
After that please read carefully this tutorial and see if you can flash stock firmware thru that tool.

Softbricked Xperia Z3 - locked bootloader, disabled USB debugging, no recovery access
Hey, I'm in big need for help in reanimation of my Xperia Z3. I've been trying to install CM 12.1 on rooted Lollipop 5.0.2. In TWRP, after doing a full wipe I've checked ROM on sdcard and started installation. After some time, phone prompted sth like: "there's no root acces, click ok to install SU". Guided by intuition rather than by wisdom I've clicked it, and here started my problems. After reboot phone was stuck on Sony logo screen. So, I've do some research and started to apply solutions one by another.
- After trying to manually access recovery mode, there's only a short flash of green LED and that's all, black screen. Propably there's no more TWRP aboard. Other ways to access it are blocked: I can't use any apk because of softbrick, and can't use ADB commands because USB debugging is disabled after wipe.
- I can access fastboot mode visible for Flashtool; when phone is in this mode, blue LED lights permemently. I've tried to unlock bootloader: program gives message, that there's no possibility of it on my phone. By the way, I would prefer to stay with blocked bootloader. I was trying to flash custom kernel, but there was an error. I don't remember exactly what it was, but it was about lack of permissions, i think that it's also because of USB debugging disabled. The same error shows when I'm trying to flash any other ROM - stock 5.0.2, prerooted 6.0.1 or Paranoid Android.
Most of solutions in similar topics around the web tells to use recovery mode, Flashtool or ADB commands. All af that failed for me and I'm stuck with no ideas what to do next. Now I'm trying to repair or recover stock, unrooted ROM with Xperia Companion, but I'm really afraid of this process because I can't check battery or load it normally while stuck in boot loop. Maybe it will help, then I'll edit or delete this post. I hope you can help me somehow.
Thank you in advance and best regards,
BW
