On my Nexus 5 built in to the camera is the ability to shoot a full sphere photo. Can our Z5 do this?
Yes. Sony has a built- in app called "Sweep Panorama" to capture a full sphere photo. You can find it in your camera app.

Didn't realise it could do full sphere. Thought it was panorama only from its name so have never even looked at it

Is there an android app that can do HDR imaging? I mean real HDR, so it takes multiple pictures with different exposure and blend them.
I know that Camera 360 have something named as HDR, but it only takes one picture and adjusts it.
UP!
why no one developers tried to make an app that takes 3 shots in sequence?
I informed Camera 360 this requirement and they say they are exploit an app on iPhone that adjust only one picture to realize hdr. I think real hdr needs at least 2 photos to blend or one photo in raw to adjust.
It seems no programmer is interested in HDR app.
...and i re-up!
me too

Wow, thanks. It seems I asked at the right time.
Here's the link for the app:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.almalence.hdr
And I found out there is a paid app from Eyeapps.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.eyeappsllc.prohdr
And Fast Burst Camera:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.spritefish.fastburstcameralite
I think this one is not prepared for HDR yet...
You can try pro hdr camera. It's not free though.
Could anyone please post photos clicked using stock and 3rd party apps?
In some reviews it's mentioned certain manual features (like shutter speed) cannot be controlled in Moto X style/Pure. Is it true?
true for stock camera. can't adjust iso either. the camera app blows.

Moto Camera app versus Google Camera, in panorama
The first attached file, is a panorama with the Google Camera app. The second is a panorama with the Moto Camera app. With Panorama, the Moto app does not handle lightt well at all. For any indoor panorama shots, use Google Camera.
And of those two photos. I can tell you from being there. The lighting in the room is very much like is shown in the Google Camera shot.
panorama is garbage on this phone. it's such a low resolution, it's always blurry never in focus.. it's god awful.

Try it with the Google Camera app. What I have posted here, is chopped down during upload to XDA and are not the full size photos.
Thanks for all the posts!!
Could anyone pls try the manual camera app and let me know if the Raw files, ISO, Aperture control etc. are supported on Moto x Pure?
I read somewhere that the camera apk2 is not included in moto camera app and thereby limiting some of the functionalities. Thanks for the reply!
Manual camera does not work. It crashes constantly if you try to change ISO or any of the other settings. I don't understand what Moto was thinking? Surely there is a way to provide a nice point and shoot experience while also allowing advanced settings if the user is so inclined. This phone has a killer Sony Sensor and the Moto Camera app handicaps it terribly.
I installed Google camera on day one and haven't touched the Moto camera since I experienced it's awfulness.

The Moto camera app is complete trash for panoramic shots. I'm not sure what they were thinking there.
I too have experienced the crashing apps from trying to change ISO. Bummer because I love using FV-5 and it is pretty much useless on this phone.

They flat out excluded the Lollipop Camera2 API. That is why nothing works and you get the crashes. Hopefully someone smarter than I can bake it into a custom rom soon.
Motorola excluded the camera2api for some dumb ass reason. No manual controls at all.
I use the Google Camera app, overall I get better results than the Moto crap app.

This is getting depressing. With things like this and the non-enhanced dialer. This is not the "pure" Android experience I was looking for. It at least this is resolved by using Google Camera. Google does not have a separate enhanced dialer app.

Open camera can record in UHD 3840 x 2160
I use open camera but with no stabilization I don't even really bother taking photos at all. Especially since even using flash produces blurry photos with the slightest subject movement. I've been very disappointed with the quality in that department. If your taking a still and nothing is moving even the slightest then the image is good.

You are saying that when you check the auto-stabilize option, it doesn't work for you?
To those that use Open Camera, does the stock gallery display the pictures taken? Seems that with the stock Moto camera, Google camera, and Camera MX, pictures taken by any of them show up in the gallery. Pictures taken with Open Camera? Nope :\

The pictures on my phone showed up under the albums tab, in a folder called OpenCamera on the stock gallery.
I wish OpenCamera had and option to save to the external sdcard though.

Hmm.. seems that I fixed my own issue. Under Options > More camera controls, if you have Use Storage Access Framework checked, it seems it wasn't having my photos appear in the gallery. With it unchecked, photos I now take are. Don't know the cause of that.
Right above that option is the Save location, where you can have the photos saved to the external sdcard :good:
There are many apps for HDR. But which one is really good? I am using Nokia Lumia 1020 so I need a nice app which would be useful. Please help....!!!
HDR Photo Camera is the best I have used on my 1020. It takes 3 individual shots to create on beautiful HDR photo.
I'm using HDR Camera Pro. it takes much more better pics compare to built in photo app, but some time crashes idk why
hi guys, can you share or upload your hdr apps here if its ok. thanks
Hi,
According to Facebook,
A 360 photo allows you to see the photo from every angle including above, below, behind and next to you. When taking a 360 photo, the field of view will automatically be set to the middle of the photo.
You can create a 360 photo by using specific devices, apps, or software:
360-Enabled Camera
Take a 360 photo using one of the following:
Ricoh Theta S
Giroptic 360 Cam
Samsung Gear 360
LG 360 Cam
IC Realtech ALLie
360Fly
Panono
iPhone or iPad
Take a panorama using one of the following:
iPhone 4S or newer
iPad mini 2 or newer
iPad Air and iPad Air 2
iPad Pro
Samsung Galaxy
Take a panorama using one of the following in Surround Shot or Panorama mode:
Samsung Galaxy S5 or newer
Note 3 or newer
Photo Sphere Apps or Devices
Take a panorama using Street View, Google Camera, Cardboard Camera or Theta S.
Image-Stitching Software
Stitch images together using software like PTGui.
When you share these photos on Facebook, they'll automatically be converted into a 360 photo. I couldn't find a way or apk to take 360 degree photo using my oneplus one running CM13 Sultan ROM. Anyone have any idea how we can take 360 degree photo?
360 degree product photography Application
You can use Movense App for adding 360 Product Photography on android devices. Here you can capture motion panoramas. Instead of taking a still 360 degree panorama, you can now capture the motion of elements in the frame as well thru Moves.

So I'm assuming "camera geeks" will be viewing this thread so I thought I'd ask a question. I loved the Moto camera app on my Moto X and I really miss some of it's features in the stock PIxel camera app. If you switch from the stock app what happens to picture quality? Is the picture quality of the Pixel camera dependent on the app or just the hardware? I get great pictures on my Pixel so I don't want to give that up but I'm really not crazy about the UI of the app.
adobe lightroom for android has a powerfull pro feature and HDR RAW in camera

As far as I know, you'll lose HDR+ because that is done by the application. I'm not sure if the EIS is built into the camera application or not, but I'm inclined to think that it is. The resolution and clarity of the pictures will be the same regardless of camera app, but you will lose some of the dynamic range.
