Screen Blinking - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
My phone randomly blinks for about 1/10 second I think. This happens randomly but seldom. I don't know since when this occurs. Right now i'm using pure nexus marshmallow & hells core kernel.
Does anyone ever experienced this also, is my phone screen is goona die?

Same happens with me nowadays. Rarely the blink takes about 5-6 seconds. I noticed this behavior after my phone break into the floor last month.

[Q] Youtube keeps running

Hey guys
First of all I want to me clear that my Nexus is stock, never been modded.
The issue is that youtube seems to be running in the background, even when I close it. Every night before bedtime I watch some youtube and i noticed that in the morning the app is still running. And if I don't reboot my Nexus i'll just keep running all day leaving me with a dead battery in 6houres..
I was wondering if anyone else had this issue? And so, what did you do with it?
Don't feel like wiping my entire Nexus so some advice could be usefull, if nothing helps i'll just keep rebooting every morning.
Actually in 'running' or in 'cached'?

Running, my Phone also gets warm after just sitting for 6 hours on my desk.
Wierd thing is that it doens't add up with the info i see in the battery info screen. There it says it ran for 2h, while my Phone was off the charger for 6-7h. That's why I don't understand my issue. I tried googeling my problem but all I seem to find nothing usefull.

[Q] s2w/s2s and dt2w on battery?

I read in different places that enabling these drains your battery, but other places that it shouldn't? so which one is it? because I really want good battery life but at the same time I want fast performance and the dt2w/s2s feature cuz I use it a lot >.< personally no other kernel has matched stock kernel for me, I average about 5:15 hours of screen on throughout the whole day, and the phone is buttery smooth, completely stock (no mods to the kernel at all).
thanks!
If you leave it running all the time (ie not setting power button to turn it off) on this phone it drains. Devs still trying to work out why when it doesn't on other phones.... unless they fixed it and I missed it

Data keeps stalling

Hello, I have searched around but I haven't found anyone reporting this particular issue nor one similar enough to troubleshoot on my own based on those solutions.
I recently began noticing that I was experiencing an issue where data LTE/hspa appears connected, but no information is transmitted. If I put airplane mode off and then back on, data reconnects and all is fine until it happens again. This is occurring multiple times per day.
I am running cataclysm ROM with Franco #40 right now.
Any help would be much appreciated.

are you undervolted?
I did not attempt to undervolt so unless Franco is doing that automatically, which I am inclined to believe it is not, I do not believe so.

any issues with your provider?
Not that I am aware of, it's T mobile but I typically have very good-excellent LTE coverage.

I've seen it happen on occasion. The only thing I would suggest is trying stock to see if you can reproduce.

i have tmobile as well, and had that happening to me several weeks ago. it started happening suddenly, was like that for several weeks, and stopped happening just as sudden. i think it might be an issue with tmo, or something that they are doing. anyways, putting it in airplane mode then back always fixed it for me when it did happen.
Good to know. I will call them if it continues.

Also with t mobile and had this issue suddenly start about two weeks ago. Very annoying. I do the airplane mode trick to get it working. Where are you located? I'm in Sacramento, ca

no.
bars dont turn orange, and a connection is shown. data just stops flowing. turning on airplane mode then back fixes it every time.
Same thing
I am on Metro PCS (t-mobile) and have the same issue as others. Weird thing is I only noticed after activating a replacement Nexus 5 I just received. Can't say I remember seeing this so frequently on the original (wasn't paying as close of attention though).
Probably just something up with t-mobile. Might try reflashing the radios. My original Nexus 5 updated via OTAs where as the replacement came with the 4.4.2 stock image pre installed.

i did a factory reset and still the problem persist.. isn't it considered as a defect ??
It's clearly a software issue. Reflash might help.

Very strange, a hardware issue which temporarily disappears when you reboot. Oh well, luckily it's fixed now.

Sounds like the flex ribbon cable to the display had poor contact. Where do you live to get such quick service? Cheers!

Screen wake issues

At least 5 times a day when I try to turn on my phones screen I'm unable to do do and I'm forced to reboot it. I don't think the issue is with the ROM because I've encountered the same problem on multiple Roms.
Does anyone have an idea what may be causing this?

sounds like sod(sleep of death). it can be a rom issue, a kernel issue, an app issue, or you need to raise voltages.
OK thanks, I'll investigate
