I've installed one ROM, tried it and everything works fine. Than made a backup with custom recovery.
After that I flashed the other ROM, xposed it, tried it and everything works fine.
Now, I want to restore the first one, try and compare with second, and maybe after that I will want to restore the second one, or so.... maybe try each one for few times.
What do I need to wipe when I'm changing those ROMs? Dalvick/ cashe, or do I need to make factory reset every time? And what about Xposed, do I need to disable or uninstall it before flashing/restoring the other ROM?

P.S. Both ROMs are customized, prerooted LP 5.1.1, with dual recovery
if you are using a recovery such as twrp and done a full backup then you wouldn't need to wipe anything as the system/data would be written with what was backed up at the time

I've been playing around with a Nexus S 4G that I have lying around and never used, and I've ran into a few problems, but you've all been helpful. I rooted all my old EVO 4G's without any problem, but the other day I rooted my NS4G using a one click/simple root and downloaded ClockWorkMod etc. But now for some reason It seems like I've almost lost my root? Is that possible? I still have the little unlocked symbol when booting up.
I've searched this forum and Google and haven't found anything, which could possibly be because I don't know what to look for. I've never had this happen :/

Now I just need to re figure out how to backup my stock rom on rom manager. I need to do that if I'm going to flash a custom rom onto my NS4G correct? I've never actually gone that far with my phones lol.

Okay lol hold on so just go make sure you
1. Unlocked the bootloader right?
2. Flashed a custom recovery (clockworkmod)?
3. Flashed superuser for root access?
4. Now you have a stock rooted ROM?
If you have/did all that then yeah you could backup your stock rooted ROM, you don't need to back it up but its helpful just incase you mess something you could always restore it to start all over

Unlocked Bootloader? If I boot in fastboot it says Unlocked. Is this what you mean?

Yeah if it says unlocked your good to go. The super user.zip you first flashed won't be needed once you flash different ROMS, it was only needed for stock because you didn't install a ROM you just unlocked the boot loader and super user just gave you root access that didn't come with stock.
Yeah backup your stock ROM JUST in case you encounter a boot loop so you can just restore and start over, you don't need to back up CM9 that's completely your choice if you want . Its convenient though if you like CM9 but still like to flash other ROMS that way you can just go back if you miss CM9 without doing the whole setup process.
And a full wipe is
Data/factory reset
Then wipe dalvik under "advanced"
Then wipe system and boot under the "mount" option in CWM

Q1: I think you can just flash the new recovery via the current recovery if you have the new recover zip file.
Q2: Kat Kiss works fine for me.
Q3: If you want to completely return to stock, you would have to use NVFlash. There are tons of instructions on the Dev thread. I primarily use Tubuntu for flashing with NVFlash. [http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1995157]
You can find other images as well. I used a stock image once to RMA the tablet but now I'm not sure where I got it. This method will ensure that every bit in your memory is exactly as it left the factory. Including the bootloader, recovery partition and everything else.

Download flashable TWRP 2.6.3.11 zip for TF101:

You should use TWRP for KatKiss ROMs, do not use CWM
Flash that Zip from CWM then reboot fully into your current ROM, then reboot into Recovery to check it has flashed properly
From TWRP you can wipe everything and flash KatKiss & Gapps

Yep, so long as you reboot into your ROM after flashing the new TWRP before booting back into recovery

I used to flash things like Liquidsmooth and my phone would fly. Now when I flash GPE or a CM based ROM, it hangs and lags sometimes. Anyone have any similar problems?
Would also be a good time to ask, will wiping internal storage in TWRP delete recovery so I can't flash ROMs?

No issues here... To answer your question... no It will remove your backups if you stored any there. Once you have installed twrp it will always be there unless you change it.

That's your whole problem right there.
You are reluctant to wipe /data? You HAVE to do it if you go from one rom to another. Also called a clean install.
If you go to the Wipe menu in TWRP and just swipe the button it will wipe cache, Dalvik and /data except /data/media/ which is where your personal files live. It will wipe you apps and their settings, but you can backup those in TiBu and restore them afterwards. Do not restore system settings from TiBu though!
Give your phone a break. Do that factory wipe I described above, then re-flash your current rom and I can pretty much guarantee it'll be night and day.

Due to problems with Google Services on my rooted Galaxy S5 (SM-G900F) I opted for a reset from TWRP and it returned to a condition where after some initial screens it was just stuck at "Checking for Updates" so I went back into TWRP and told it to wipe the other partitions. Whoops - now I have no OS (I was sort of assuming that the factory reset OS was somewhere else)
Which is the stock ROM for my Region - UK, unbranded - where do I get it from and how do I load it using Odin and/or TWRP?

Did you make a nandroid backup of your stock ROM or a nandroid backup of a custom ROM if you installed one? If you have a nandroid backup of either of those then you can restore them in TWRP by choosing the restore option and then your nandroid then swipe the slider at the bottom of the screen. If you installed a custom ROM at any time before this and you still have the ROM file then you can reflash the ROM and Gapps.
If you don't have a custom ROM stored anywhere but can still get to recovery, then you can download any of the custom ROMs compatible with your device and a Gapps package that matches it and put them on your extsdcard then boot to recovery and flash the ROM and gapps, do the normal wipes in recovery after flashing, the normal wipes(wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache), DO NOT CHOOSE THE ADVANCED OPTIONS THAT LET YOU WIPE PARTITIONS.
Check this thread to see if it is your stock firmware, it SHOULD be but double check first, it also has instructions for rooting again and installing recovery.

If that doesn't work then go to Sammobile.com and search for your stock firmware by using your device model number.
The firmwares can sometimes be found at samsung-updates.com also.
Find the right firmware for your exact model number and flash through Odin.

Sadly not - wasn't expecting to need it, thought it would revert to factory default - I have Titanium backup of apps and data.
I am hopefully a few minutes away from downloading the stock ROM and hopefully can reflash that using ODIN.

Making nandroid backups in recovery is the most important and valuable function of custom recovery, flashing ROMs is its' secondary purpose Android is not like PC with a recovery partition that restores a factory IMG, on PC that factory IMG is stored in a recovery partition. The factory reset feature in stock android does not restore an IMG, it deletes all data from the user partition and leaves everything in system partition the way it is, if you delete a system app and then do a factory reset then you will still not have the system app that you deleted. Anything you modify in system remains the way you modified it if you use the factory reset option. You should only use the factory reset in recovery, not the factory reset in system settings when you have a rooted device with custom recovery.
I'm sure that when you found the recovery, the directions had to have mentioned making a nandroid backup of your stock ROM before flashing anything, your present situation is why you do that, so that if anything goes wrong then you can easily restore to the one ROM that you know for sure works with no issues.

I installed the TWERP recovery as part of the rooting operation and I didn't pay any attention to the backup option - I thought that's what Titanium did.
I am learning and will make sure that I take a Nandroid backup once I have it back up and running. Life would be so much simpler if only Samsunng didn't stuff their 'phones with bloatware that can't be deleted in stock mode.

Titanium backup can only backup data that you installed or downloaded, it does not backup anything that comes on the phone itself, that is what custom recovery is for.
When following guides to mod your device, read and understand ALL instructions before you even make the first move to touch your device. Get used to being thorough about reading and understanding first or you'll end up in a mess, possibly even hard brick your device, all it takes is one wrong move. Not all mistakes are fixable with android devices.

Since flash marshmallowon my 6046k, my ringtone has not been ringing. I've tried the do not disturb, turning up the volume, setting the profile to default and rebooting my phone. Rebooting seems to work but only for a couple of hours after a while the phone only vibrates on calls. Please help

Before sound was working perfectly no issue. Yes i post my prob on rom thread no one reply.
Somewhere i read that factory reset can solve problem but ibdont want to rest my phone. Is there any othe possible solution for this ??
Maybe reflash the same rom over the existing rom without wiping data? Or create a backup using twrp, reflash, and restore data?

If you backed up your old ROM using TWRP, you can restore it using TWRP. Before restoring, I recommend wiping the system, cache, and data. Just make sure you have a back up of your data somewhere in case something goes wrong.
