(I tried to send this via my newly registered id tnewstad, but it would not "go". Kept saying my IP address was already used today....etc...)
This is my first post. I have two (rooted) Atrix 2's, MB865. One I use for a phone, the other I can use (no sim card) to experiment. They are both running android 4.0.4 Ice cream sandwhich, for about 3 yrs now. I have been searching without success as to instructions to upgrade to KitKat. Frankly, I have spent literally hours researching and trying to find the files I need and the instructions/exact sequence to upgrade these phones, one of which I will use as a phone with Kitkat (hopefully).
I have run Titanium Backup Pro on all the apps. I have atrix 2 bootstrap recovery and reboot recovery which I use to backup the entire phone. Would someone please, (I would very much appreciate it!) get me to the best files to download to my pc for installation (running win 7) to move files to phone to do the job to get to KitKat, hopefully a version that is not a killer on the battery. Thank you very much for your consideration of assisting me! Theodore (Theo) N.

I have never rooted a tablet or phone before, but I am not stupid when it comes to hacking and modifying electronics. I just have some questions since I have been trying to root my xoom yesterday with no luck. First off, my xoom is running off of 4.0.4, which I believe is ice cream sandwich. I did not update to jelly bean yet because I do not know if that has protection against rooting. I also have an 8 GB micro sd card.
I first tried using Lord AIO tools to make it easy, and it worked for unlocking my bootloader but not for rooting. I was also using this guide, but it is outdated and I am also confused about a few things.
First off, it seems like everyone uses CWM Recovery to root, but obviously it needs to be rooted before you can install the Recovery tool. Is that why you have to first install the "fastboot flash recovery eos-recovery-r6.img" file? Also, will anything not work now that I am on 4.0.4? If anyone can give me a noob guide just like the one above, but for 4.0.4 it would be greatly appreciated. Also any tips would help.
I know I have more questions, but I have to go to a friends baby shower so when I get back I will post any new questions I have. Thanks for any help and tips you guys have!

Thanks alot, read the post. I will have to wait until at least Tomorrow to try this, seems the goo.im site servers are on overload. Reading into it they seem to have been having trouble with equipment costs and such. This guide is much more informative than any others I have seen so I can't wait to try it! Thanks again.
Hi! I'm a newbie to the forums and I have recently rooted my phone with gingerbreak and i've unlocked the bootloader.
I have rom manager and clockworkmod all set for the new rom installation, and i just backed up my old rom.
Now, can anyone tell me what's the BEST ROM for atrix 4g MB860 out there?
Thanks.

You'll need to checkout the Atrix 4G Android Development section for finding all ROMs available for the device. Read through user reviews and select the best one of your choice. Also, when asking about which is the Best ROM, you'll get 10 different opinions from different people. So its all upto your needs to use the one of your choice.

I would move it for you, but there's a good chance it would get closed in that forum too. Best ROM threads/questions are generally frowned upon around here due to the type of responses (mostly negative) and bickering they tend to generate. Try them out for yourself and see what works for you.

So, man, I'm trying to update my Razr HD to JB.
I am rooted on ICS, and plan on installing the JB service version I got from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2095097
The thing is: as I haven't unlocked my bootloader, and would like to keep it that way, I've been trying to install the safestrap recovery I got from here: http://blog.hash-of-codes.com/downloads/safestrap/
But up till now, I've been receiving a FAILED message when installing the rom in the rom-slot-1.
Don't know where i'm going wrong. Any ideas? Or any other way I could install the ----- Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean - 98.21.6.XT925.Brasil.en.BR -----
Service Version?
Thanks!
not sure if voodoo root keeper will survive jb 4.1.2 , look into that , also I suggest to post here

good luck man,
Dear XDA members
I do apologise if I have missed the answerto this somewhere in the forums.
I am hoping to upgrade my Motorola Milestone 2 as instructed in the this posting .
I have rooted my Milestone, installed droid2bootstrap and downloaded all the necessary rom zips. However I am relectant to proceed because I do not understand one line of the instructions -
Reboot recovery (Don't Access Rom boot)
I would be most grateful if somebody could expand on this so that I can give the whole procedure a go. The milestone 2 is a delightful mechanism, and one which I do not wish to consign to the Old Phones Box just yet.

Hello, and welcome to XDA!
I've heard of this before. It's called iDroid. I just looked it up, and the project is either stalled (stuck on version 2.3 Gingerbread where the current OS is 6.0 Marshmallow), or dead (some of the pages I browsed failed to work). Also, it seems, it only applied to the iPhones 2G, 3G, and 3GS.
So though there may still be an option out there, because the base is Apple, XDA doesn't document much on that ("these aren't the droids you are looking for" ).
XDA does have a sister site:
http://www.xda-developers.com/iphone-developers-officially-launches/
They should be able to break down the options for you. You will probably need to register over there as well.
Hope it helps!
