Dear XDA members
I do apologise if I have missed the answerto this somewhere in the forums.
I am hoping to upgrade my Motorola Milestone 2 as instructed in the this posting .
I have rooted my Milestone, installed droid2bootstrap and downloaded all the necessary rom zips. However I am relectant to proceed because I do not understand one line of the instructions -
Reboot recovery (Don't Access Rom boot)
I would be most grateful if somebody could expand on this so that I can give the whole procedure a go. The milestone 2 is a delightful mechanism, and one which I do not wish to consign to the Old Phones Box just yet.

First of all, I would like to thank in advance the guys who answer my questions.
1)I ve read some threads about Xoom and I see most of you are in 3.2 and in Europe we don't have even 3.1 . How can I make it to be a US version to get the updates? Is it safe or should I wait?
2)My first priority is to find a way to root my device. I saw a one-click root way but the files are offline from xda and it says that it has issues with EUR versions. Whats your advice? Can you help me with the steps because I dont have much android knowledge?
3)Whats your opinion about custom roms for Xoom and how can I flash from 3.01?
Thanks again, and if you have any suggestions on what apps you love using in your xoom it would be great
Apps go the apps section and read.
Changing to us version and flashing roms etc go to the development section and read.
You clearly don't like to chat m8, If I found a topic for EUR but the links are offline as I said before. There are people who like to share their knowledge thats why its a q/a thread and not app section or dev section.

Hi there, welcome to the Xoom family.
Like every family, some members like to talk and others don't.
It's true that the threads you want are mostly in the Development section.
Since you are on Wifi only it should be pretty easy for you to flash the US wifi image (you will actually find that in the 1st post in General) but you should read a bit just to make sure you know what steps to take. Also, language packs are available if you need a language other than English, French or Spanish, but there may be some complications.
I would advise you against using any type of one click rooting method. The Xoom is easy to unlock and root, but is more complicated than many phones. On the plus side, it's pretty hard to brick as long as you follow instructions. Prepare to use adb and you'll do fine. Once you've unlocked and flashed the US image, you will get the OTA updates as soon as you are on a wifi connection. This is where you need to see which rooting method will be best for you. You will need to install the Tiamat Clockwork Mod Recovery 3.2.0.0 (from solarnz's thread) so you can flash from the micro sdcard) There are ways to root from 3.0, 3.1 and from 3.2. Head over to the Development section and look for what you want. Once you are rooted, check out the Team Tiamat Xoom Rom 2.0 Manta Ray. It really rocks. You will have to wipe user data for many of these steps, so don't bother with setting up more than you have to until you are at you final destination, so to speak.
Good luck!
ok so as the title states, i need some help with my lg optimus q on straight talk wirless
this phone to my knowledge is simmilar to the s, and the v versions with the t and the one versions being gsm but i am not sure on that
heres some info
Modle number LGL55C
Android version 2.3.4
Baseband version LGL55C_6170
Kernel version 2.6.35.7
Build number GRJ22
software version LGL55CV1
so to my knowlege this is a basic version of droid direct from google without much done to it but to lock out tethering in any way and ofcourse the root access. also to my knowlege the 2.3.4 must be downgraded for the root to work before being rebooted into that version or the root will dissapear. this is all based on the optimus v so im not sure on any of this. and i realy need some help
HELP PLEASE
*Bump* Also searching for this
i've found a few links for the recovery and an alpha version of a rooted Operating system for it.
But i've not found the directions for rooting it.. which makes my other finds useless. and i cant post the links to them because some stupid spam prevention on this site demands i have at least 8 posts before i can put up links.
** i found a working root for it.. but since i cant post links.. i'll do what i can..
androidcentral .com /virgin-mobile-optimus-slider/126357-possible-root-try-4 .html
remove the spaces.. you will find a post on the page that has this..
You could more than likely follow [How-To] Root, Custom Recovery, NANDroid Backup but when you get to post #2 (custom recovery) you'll want to adjust for Recovery for the Straight Talk Optiums Q(LGL55C)
follow those links and directions.. i have it working on mine
now about some custom operating systems.. i've only found one.. i've misplaced its link its called lgl44c_Dirty_Alpha_2 think the author said it was just stock with a few extras added.
best of luck to you.. sorry i cant give out the links.. blame the spammers and the forums rules... since my account is several years old you'd think i'd be able to..
Bump any progress?
life is better with root and ICS.
any update

Check into AreaRomQ so far i have found nothing on here for this phone other than people trying to find where to get mods and other things for it with no luck at all. I ran across that rom around july/august last year. You can find it on AndroidArea51 . com (take out the spaces... fail for the no link posting for people who actually are trying to help) Hope this helps you guys out a little better!!!

So, man, I'm trying to update my Razr HD to JB.
I am rooted on ICS, and plan on installing the JB service version I got from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2095097
The thing is: as I haven't unlocked my bootloader, and would like to keep it that way, I've been trying to install the safestrap recovery I got from here: http://blog.hash-of-codes.com/downloads/safestrap/
But up till now, I've been receiving a FAILED message when installing the rom in the rom-slot-1.
Don't know where i'm going wrong. Any ideas? Or any other way I could install the ----- Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean - 98.21.6.XT925.Brasil.en.BR -----
Service Version?
Thanks!
not sure if voodoo root keeper will survive jb 4.1.2 , look into that , also I suggest to post here

good luck man,
Hi folks,
I'm new to this forum, so first of all: Hi Y'all
Ok, I've got this original Consumer Cellular Motorola Bravo which had 2.2.1 on it when I purchased it. Later on I did an OTA upgrade to 2.2.2. The phone has been my wife's daily driver for quite a while and after she dropped it 2 weeks ago ... well, I got her an Atrix HD and took the little one into intensive care. With a brand new digitizer glass it's now going strong again.
I plan to use it as my personal phone (I just like those lil' ones) and as a development testing environment. Before I switch to CM, however ... is there still any interest in system dumps? The phone has been rooted and basically I'm ready to go and make a dump. I'd just want to have someone who is really interested in a dump check it out so that nothing will be missing.
Here is what my phone tells me:
System Version: 38.6.0.MB520.Generic.en.US
Android Version: 2.2.2
Kernel Version: [email protected] #2
Build Number: 3.4.2-125_KOB_CCI-6
There is a guide in this forum on how to create dumps. Does that apply to the Bravo "as is", or are there any "specialties"? I think skeevydude also wrote something about how to make a system dump of Bravo roms but I can't find that thread ... maybe somebody can help. I also think I saw some instructions about dumping the bootloader, again I can't find it anymore. The forum search and I are not really friends yet.
Thanks for all your help,
Markus

Here's a similar tutorial for dumping: [GUIDE] Making Dump Files Out of Android Device Partitions (Works for most Android)
And here's your Bravo device's forum link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/motorola-bravo
(^They are the ones having an identical phone as yours; consult them if you'd like)

Thanks for the links, I found Skeevydude's list of partitions to "dd" to create a system dump. Can't post in the developer's Bravo forum yet (being a newbie) but I still hope that anyone who's interested in a 2.2.2 Froyo dump will catch this thread over here.
To anyone: if you are interested in the Bravo and if you can post in the developer's Bravo forum, let them know that I'll be having a system dump ready over the weekend.
Thanks,
Markus
(I tried to send this via my newly registered id tnewstad, but it would not "go". Kept saying my IP address was already used today....etc...)
This is my first post. I have two (rooted) Atrix 2's, MB865. One I use for a phone, the other I can use (no sim card) to experiment. They are both running android 4.0.4 Ice cream sandwhich, for about 3 yrs now. I have been searching without success as to instructions to upgrade to KitKat. Frankly, I have spent literally hours researching and trying to find the files I need and the instructions/exact sequence to upgrade these phones, one of which I will use as a phone with Kitkat (hopefully).
I have run Titanium Backup Pro on all the apps. I have atrix 2 bootstrap recovery and reboot recovery which I use to backup the entire phone. Would someone please, (I would very much appreciate it!) get me to the best files to download to my pc for installation (running win 7) to move files to phone to do the job to get to KitKat, hopefully a version that is not a killer on the battery. Thank you very much for your consideration of assisting me! Theodore (Theo) N.
