Hi all,
I'm on CM12 KKBL since a few times already, but am having radio loss from time to time. I lose network, then after 2mn it comes back; it happens several times a day which is now annoying enough, so I'd like to get back to JBBL as I heard that this problem is well known on XT925+KKBL roms.
Do I just have to flash factory 4.4 from my country with RSDlite ?
If not, I'm open to any tutorial explaining how to do it without bricking it (that's my only remaining phone, my Kolina K100+ died a few weeks ago).

Hello XDA,
I've been very quiet on this board so far but still you've helped me many times.
I've seen on some topics that the XT925 had it's OTA released today.
However, i'm on a fully unlocked root and flashed XT925 with JBBL on CM11.1. My GPS is bugged (maybe because my phone fell in the water on friday but i'd like to rule that out) and i need it badly, the Rom is laggy and causing multiple black screens of death (even using the latest nightly).
So now the OTA is available, what is the procedure to go back to the OTA path on my XT925? It's a non branded XT925 so if i read right, CEE version should be ok for me.
What will i loose by flashing a firmware via RSDlite? Unlocked bootloader? Root for sure...
Thanks in advance,
Lilion
Hello. I have a following doubts. Sorry if I posted in the wrong place.
And that recently could not stand waiting for the official OTA motorola moto G 1st generation. Ai made a forced update to 5.0.2. Tired of Roma decided to install another rom. I made the conversion pro GPE, and installed the rom, I was a few days with her, but because of the 2 chip back to Stock kit kat. But I came across a soft brick, do not leave the boot animation after a while remade, and I could go back to 4.4.4 sotck retail.br. Today I received the OTA motorola, for lollipop 5.0. But is your problem, I have seen countless topics that update over the air, the cell will stay with hard brick. Because the bootloader.
You got a problem I install OTA lollipop?
Bootloader version: 41.18 (sha-99084d5, 10/29/2014 23:54:18 (using 4.4.4 Kit kat Stock reatil rom)
Sorry my English, there is no Brazilian session, I am using the translator
This is an xpost from where i posted originally (Moto G - 2014) since I was in the wrong forum. Please forgive.
I'm running 4.4.4 stock on an XT 1040 (the LTE Canadian Rogers variant of the MotoG). I had unlocked the bootloader and rooted the phone, but other than that kept the stock image. About 2 weeks ago my wife, with the same model, was offered 5.0.1 (or some version of Lollipop) OTA. She upgraded no probs (other than hanging a long time on the download screen). About 3 days later I was offered OTA on my rooted MotoG. After running through the download, it rebooted and tried applying the update and got mid way through and rebooted back to 4.4.4 saying there was an error. I tried again, same problem. So I started reading posts and realized that while my image was stock, because of the way I must have gained root the OTA update wouldn't apply because the kernel must be altered.
So, I followed the instructions here (linky) to go back to the stock image, but now it's been about a week and I have not been offered the OTA again. A couple days ago I talked with Motorola about whether OTA is re-offered in situations like mine if its offered once and the guy said no and to call Google to get them to re-initiate it. I'm not really positive I trust that answer since he seemed kind of, well, "level1tech" and seemed anxious to get off the line.
Anybody know if the OTA is tied to your IMEI or google accounts and whether it's likely it will be offered again?
TIA

I had this question as well. i have been running a Kit Kat rom for the past year and am also going to be trying Marshmallow in the next couple days. I wondered whether i would need to 'downgrade' my radio and bootloader if i went back to Kit Kat or to Lollipop.
Along these same lines, I was wondering whether if I didn't like Marshmallow and rolled back to a different android version by flashing a TWRP backup image, would my phone still have the Marshmallow radio and bootloader installed after?
What effects might an out of date or future version bootloader have on the system?
So i found an answer to this in a thread about the unofficial Chroma 6.0 ROM port to for the N5 on the Chroma google community. Here is the post, the relevant question and answer is in the comments. So keep in mind this isn't official info from google but it's more useful than anything i've found otherwise. https://plus.google.com/+KaioDuarteds/posts/EmTVqmPr7ew.
TLR: Tim Seidler says "Yes, you can go back to Lollipop even with the new Marshmallow bootloader and radio."
I did a bit more research on bootloaders too....my understanding is that the bootloader is a small peice of software that starts the phone and shows it where to find the kernel and OS so that can boot up properly. This makes me think that a much older bootloader might cause issues if it were 'pointing' to the wrong part of the phone. If the location of things has changed around in a newer version, the phone might not be able to get the main system running and therefore wouldn't be able to boot. I guess it would depend on how different the bootloaders were between say version 4.x and 6.x, etc.
Having the wrong radio seems less risky. The radio is the modem, it is in charge of handling internet and cell signal connections. The wrong radio might not be able to connect to wifi or cell networks, or might connect poorly, but it shouldnt brick the phone. It seems pretty easy to flash different radios...back when i had a galaxy S2 i sometimes had to try different radios when i installed a new ROM (that had the wrong radio pre packaged in it) because some radios wouldn't pick up my cell provider very well. But i used to flash many different radios (for my device version) without issue. all that changed was the number of bars of signal i got.
Okay, so I recently bought a used Moto G LTE, seller said it would be on Lollipop 5.1. When I received it, it had been rolled back to 4.4.4. Hence the screen ripple at every boot up (which persists until the phone is locked and then unlocked) that almost gave me a heart attack the first time. A little googling later I learn this happens because while you can downgrade android the upgraded version's bootloader remains. So last night I finally got around to rooting since I just can't go from a rooted phone to living with a non rooted one, feels like my phone has a noose around it. Anyway I wanted to know if it's safe to flash CM on my phone now or should I reupgrade to 5.1 first? And if I should is there a way to get it to update OTA again? If not any suggestions where to find the firmware? I just want to feel free to flash roms without bricking my phone. Hi.
In my xt1040, i can flash CM 12 lollipop or a stock rom based from kitkat 4.4.4 without problems (I have a updated bootloader), to get OTA updates again, its necessary flash the stock rom (KK or LP), without root, PURE stock (with all "bloatware").
Now im using a optimized rom from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/4g-development/rom-stock-motorola-4g-lollipop-rom-t3142816
No bugs, amazing battery life, and a pure stock, no "bloatware", great ram management.
Sorry for bad english.

You'll have to wipe the system anyway, updating it will be a waste of time...
