is your bootloader unlocked?
if not them im affraid your phone is dead (cause you need product ID to get BL unlock code, and you cant get your product ID if you cant boot)
if yes then remove all partitions, fix permissions, and flash slimstock

GarminFone

Hi I have a garmin fone and it has totally freezed up. A screen with the little dude comes on with a triangle and an ! in it. It says on the screen the following:
andriod system recovery <2e>
Android system recovery utility
rebbot system now
apply sdcard:update.zip
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cacher partition
E:can't open /data/cache/recovery/command
E:can't open /data/cache/recovery/fota_intent
I can't reboot, it wont come up on my computer when I plug it in. Is there anything I can do to fix?
Thanks
What did you do in the first place?
Things like this don't happen for no reason
google and see if theres a recovery or download mode for your phone then mabie you can fix it
I have no idea, but thats definitely not a good sign. What i would try is to take out the sd card and try booting it. If possible of course, or i would just get a new phone in case your phone died
You can try to download the firmware from Garmin-Asus website (select country, support and your phone model) and flash it if possible. Please take note that all your personal data will be lost. This is the last choice, hope it works.

Black screen after "wipe data for all users"

Hello all,
Sorry for my bad english.
I try to install new rom (fixed rom) on thl t11.
After i go in recovery mode i go in button "wipe all data" and after " yes - wipe data for all users"
Now when i turn on my mobile (power button) i get only black screen, nothing alse.
Please help me,is possible to fix this ?
Thanks a lot
Edit:
My phone is not rooted.also now i can't acces to my recovery .
did you fix that and if did how ?
By wiping your data you deleted the android system and data on your internal storage. But all your user data should still be there. However, since no operating system is installed, nothing can boot. That's why the screen stays black.
You will have to flash a ROM now. It must be suitable to your phone. You can either install the stock ROM oder a Custom ROM (which I would do since usually you have more options there). Download the zip-file to your sd-card and then flash it via the recovery, which you normally can enter by pressing certain buttons.
Which phone do you have? There a different ROMS out for most of the phones available. CyanogenMod for example is available for almost every phone. I would recommend getting that or the original firmware that was coming with your phone when you bought it.

You can take a look at this, though this is not for your phone you can try along the lines of the tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2341320
If you cant even go to qpst download then i think you should hurry to your nearest service station

[Q][HELP] I lost my IMEI! can everybody help?

*bootloader version: HHZ11k

*carrier info: NONE (is this wrong?)
*signing: production
*secure boot: enabled
*lock state: locked
#I didn't touch this phone's system, still original.
my story:
so it's been 3 weeks since I bought my phone. I was happy with it, nothing was wrong.
a week later, the 4.4.3 came out, I updated it, and nothing was wrong too.
until last night, I turned off my phone, curious to see how the Nexus 5's recovery look like,
I pressed (volume down + power), and I noticed that it enters FASTBOOT mode. and I just learned, navigate with the volume buttons and select with power button.
NOTICE: I'm already familiar with things like this, I was in the Galaxy W forum and Galaxy SIII mini forum. *yes lol I came from Samsuck
so I selected recovery mode and enter it.. I saw the android logo there, the healthy one, not the murdered robot with a red triangle on it.
I saw nothing but that logo, I pressed volume up button and the text showed up. I navigate down with volume down button, until it was down at the "wipe cache partition", I wanted to go up to reboot my phone, but I realized, the up button just a switch to hide or show the recovery text, so there's only one choice, press the power button, *if I press the power button, I wipe the cache because it selects "wipe cache partition"*.
and then it writes "wiping the cache", I was confused why it was so long, until I decided to reboot with holding the power button.
NOTICE: it is strange to wait sooooo long for cache wiping. I know this.
the system turned on. I'm not sure if the cache wiped cleanly, I'm afraid it will make the system error. so I decided to change my runtime from ART to Dalvik, so the cache wiped out and built again, strange process that took only 64 apps to optimize, that before it was around 110 apps. and then after reboot, I decided to go ART again to saw how many apps that optimized, LOL it was again, 64.
I reboot my phone again, and wait the reception, LOL strange I got no signal in my home *usually full*.
NOTICE: the signal has already gone after first cache wipe.
somehow I go to About Phone, Status on the Settings, and I found out the IMEI is UNKNOWN. I tried to check it with *#06# and it shows nothing.
I repeat the process how I get to the recovery and try to wipe cache, and it said, "error: can't mount /cache".
so I think the cache was gone?? I look to the "Explorer" app *the one who makes the root version too (Root Explorer)*, well the cache partition still there.. LOL
MY QUESTION:
1. am I having a defective Nexus 5? or there is a bug?
2. my IMEI lost, I have 2 expectations: my EFS/IMEI is truly lost, or the system just can't detect it? how can I know?
3. I saw a thread that tells me Nexus 5 doesn't have EFS partition backup, so where does the EFS located?
4. if I follow you guys, unlocking bootloader, rooting and etc. can I make my phone's state default again? *I don't mean fix this thing, just go default*
5. most important thing, HOW CAN I GET MY PHONE BACK TO NORMAL?? *peace bro
please help, right now I'm trying to reset my phone as soon as my backup finishes.
thx
I think people have remedied this problem by flashing the factory image. If that doesn't work then it is probably a hardware defect and will have to be replaced.
There's an option in the stock recovery which reads "Reboot System Now". You could have selected that if you didn't want to do anything.
1. No, the cache partition got messed up and hence the unknown IMEI and signal loss.
2. The system just can't detect it because of the reason mentioned above.
3. EFS is located on the /efs partition but you need root to back it up or restore it.
4. No need to root the phone to fix this. Go back to the stock recovery and wipe cache partition again and this time around WAIT PATIENTLY for it to complete. This should fix it.

as I told you before, I can't select "reboot system now" because the volume up button strangely working as show/hide text. wipe cache partition, the /cache can't be mounted.

Strange indeed. Yeah, those errors are common. Just try wiping cache multiple times. If not, factory reset the device.

Since you're responsible for this mishap, I would certainly try to fix it myself if I were you. Wiping cache/factory reset is the only thing you can do with a locked bootloader. If that doesn't fix it, the phone's hosed!

ADB is used whilst you're in Android OS/custom recovery. You first need to unlock the bootloader, flash/boot a custom recovery and then flash the supersu.zip to gain root. I'm not sure what purpose it will serve in your situation though??
this happened to me too. and I waited for the the wipe cache operation for 15 minutes. After a forced reboot the phone was not connecting to the cell network, had a 1970 date and gave various google errors. I went back to recovery, noticed the comatose android and the missing cache partition messages but again I selected wipe cache and this fixed it. It took just a minute or so to create and format it. After the reboot the phone was fine. phew...
This problem happens when the cache partion is not formated properly. You can't take screenshots either, right? You should try to format the cache partition again, and again until your phone becomes normal, or unlock bootloader and flash the cache.img from the stock images. You can find all the instructions about unlocking bl and flashing cache image in the sticky posts of the general forum.

Device Storage Corrupt

Hi, my S7 started acting strange a few days ago so I decided to reboot it. Ever since, it would turn on, let me use the screen for about 15 seconds before becoming unresponsive and rebooting itself.
I decided to use the "Emergency Recovery Software and Initialization" feature on Smart Switch. The whole process completed, but the phone keeps booting up to a screen that says "Device Storage Corrupt". Theres a Reset Device button at the bottom but it does not do anything.
The next thing I did was boot into Recovery and selected "Wipe data/factory reset" but it always says "Data wipe failed".
The full error message:
E: format_volume: make ext4 failed on /dev/block/platform/155a0000.ufs/by-name/USERDATA with 1(I/O error)
-- Set Factory Reset done...
Data wipe failed.

Could anyone please suggest what else I can do?
Thank you in advance.
Tried flashing stock with ODIN (3.12.3 minimum version)?
Add all 4 parts of the ROM into ODIN, use CSC instead of HOME_CSC to ensure it resets after the flash
Put the phone into Download mode (Volume Down & Home & Power)
Ensure the COM port is highlighted at the top of ODIN to show it sees the phone (Connect to PC via USB)
Hit start and wait for the flash to complete
You can download the ROM / Firmware from updato.com or search for samfirm tool here on XDA
So I followed your instructions and It flashed successfully, but on the phone a blue screen appears with the android and "Erase" written below it. It stays like this for a while before saying "Error!" and then booting into recovery and displaying the same message as I mentioned in my original post.
E: format_volume: make ext4 failed on /dev/block/platform/155a0000.ufs/by-name/USERDATA with 1(I/O error)

I do not understand why it does not let me wipe data/factory reset my phone.
EDIT: I tried again using the steps you told me, except I checked "Re-Partition" this time. The exact same problem still persists.
Unfortunately it sounds like hardware failure, probably not much more you can do other than send it in for repair
Hi all, i have s7 edge G935T which stucked on boot loop and not starting after screen of T mobile, i have tried all the firmware possible and i have tried to put original PIT file but still it is not booting up, dear please help me out from here.

did you fix it?
Hey, unfortunately I had to buy a new phone. I sent that one back and got a refund. I think it was a hardware failure
click "wipe" and then click "format data"

E: failed to find /misc partition; E: failed to mount /efs (invalid argument)

Hey guys, my phone recently shut down by itself and now won't turn back on. And, when I try to factory reset the boot menu comes up with this "/misc partition fail" problem. I tried using odin recovery, but when the installation starts, the phone says "fail due to frp lock". Please, help me out with this. model sammsung sm-j530s
You specified your phone doesn't turn on but you're able to access odin and recovery mode? Try flashing the same firmware to your phone via odin and see if that fixes the problem. If not, launch recovery mode via power + volume up + home and hit reset device and reboot the system. What does your phone say when you try to boot it up normally? Does it get stuck on a loop? And this happened by itself? Not trying to accuse you, but were you trying to root the phone or mess with the partitions? Did you download some malicious app or malware came into your phone (Highly doubt but I am trying to find all solutions)?

Nah, didn't try rooting. was downloading a game via play store and it said there was some problem with partitions and told me to factory reset the phone. Then I thought I would lose all the data, so I turned it off thinking it would go away. It didn't, but it now gets stuck on samsung screen and blacks out. Odin didn't help by the way

Do you know what game was it? I have a device over here I can try downloading it on. Though it could have been some malware on your phone pre-existing. Can you at least get to the odin screen? If you flash the same firmware to your phone, it will work. Or if you can go to recovery mode, you can do reset to your device if you're out of options.
