Good News. The problem is, I see no Skype call quality fix and multitasking issue fixed. Patiently waiting CM9...xconny's team hardwork product
Anyone know how we can install this update via zip in recovery. I am new to rooting without directly installing CM, so not sure how to update and keep stock Sense.

here's some hope they'll fix those under the table (skype issue might be related to wifi fix). CM9 or not, multitasking problem needs kernel tweaking.
Hopefully this will also solve some of the data connection issues.

• Resolves signal fluctuation.
That's the big point right there.
Once its released, we should be able to have the update baked into a custom rom and made available to root users..right?
This might be a bit of a noob question here but this update is pushed out to carriers by HTC correct? So in theory, these fixes (mainly signal fluctuation is what im worried about at the moment) will eventually get pushed out by all carriers that have this phone?
Im on Telus in Canada and still within the 14 day return period of getting a new phone until next tuesday and so far the phone is fantastic except that the signal quality is absolutely terrible which makes it pretty unusable as a phone. On a sunny day outside where i would have gotten 5 bars with my Desire, i am either getting absolutely nothing (Emergency mode/0dbm) or at best one bar (-107 dbm). I really want to keep this phone, but if a fix doesn't come before next week i might have to ditch it and get a Galaxy Nexus or something else, which i would rather not do.
It looks like they just changed the memo to June 4th now.
"Improvements to camera stability"
What could this be? Hope it helps camera focus in low light.

Would you expect it NOT to? Rooted phones not updating isn't that uncommon. Simply nandroid your current ROM (make a backup of it too), and flash a stock nandroid to get back to your original state, and it'll most likely update just fine.....whenever the update comes out, that is.

From what I read, you'll need to reflash the stock recovery, relock the bootloader and flash an RUU to remove the tampered and unlocked so the OTA will work. I'm hoping someone will get the OTA and make a zip we can flash on top of the current stock to get the fixes...

Agreed, but the issue at hand is whether or not it will flash a new kernel. As of now, i don't believe we have a way to flash a kernel, but I could be completely wrong.
Sure would be nice of HTC to release the source code.....those assholes
I'm new to htc rooting, but not to rooting at all. Other phones I had rooting wouldn't stop an ota. Tho custom recovery would most likely

I recently purchased a Nexus S (M200) and I am experiencing very low Wifi and GSM signals. In fact, it's so low that I can't even make calls from GSM when indoors and need to get outdoor to get fair signals. Similar issue is with Wifi and I have to be within 10 meters to get a stable Wifi connection.
I have tried various roms and kernels but the problem remains. Even went back to stock gingerbread rom and the same problem. Any suggestion to get this fixed? Seems like a hardware issue and my phone is not under warranty!
Help appreciated.
I experienced the same thing on Cyanogen 10.1 nightly but when I was on stock 4.1 it was ok.
Maybe it's your provider which don't have a good network where you are.
I am sorry for my english I hope you will undrstand me.

I can try that. Any suggestion for a reliable radio to use?
You should get the most recent baseband (radio) firmware update for your model of Nexus S. If you search the forums, you should be able to find a thread all the basebands linked. Be sure to only install the one for the model you have, because the wrong one will not work.

Flashed the latest and tested a few others but the same problem
Hi, kamran666,
If you purchased it used I would check if WiFi and GSM antennas are there and properly connected.
Take a look on this video from 2:33.
Hope in might help.
Since I updated last week to the new JB firmware I'm having issues with cell reception. Basically I have no reception anywhere anymore. Is this aan known issue and/or is it fixable?
Wifi / bluetooth works fine.
Any help is appreciated.
Sent from my HTC One S using xda app-developers app
Ok, so I unlocked the bootloader, flashed custom recovery and viper S ROM and still no reception. Apparently my problem is not software related. However, it can't have been more than a day after I updated tot JB stock when it started.
Could it be the hardware? I do think I dropped my phone around christmas...
should I send it in for repair? And if I do should I first go back to stock and relock bootloader?
I think you need to change your radio. As far as Im aware, JB comes with an updated radio. Installing a custom ROM does not change the radio.
Ok tnx, can you point to me to a guide for changing the radio? Never done that before. And I think I would like to have the one that comes with stock 4.04 with which I had excellent reception. Where do I get that one?
Thanks again!
So I did a full clean wipe, twice just to be sure.
Flashed RC1 and everything seemed to be going great at first. Then I noticed that the signal is dropping in and out. (I live in San Diego) It won't hold a signal for any reasonable amount of time. So it drops from 4G LTE going off. I've rebooted. At a bit of a loss. I'm operating on ATT.
Should I try to reflash? I was previously running CM 10.0 with no serious issues.
I've made sure the priority is LTE/GSM
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
May be your APN? What radio are you using?

Same happened to me. Reflashed the modem problem fixed.

I had it on ATT Phone and then switched it to ATT LTE. Issue wasn't resolved. I tried the other APNs as well. Same result.
For poops and giggles I flashed the most recent nightly 05/06 and still had the same issue.
May seem silly to ask, but how do you flash the modem? That sounds like it could be a solution.
Edit: Ermm what radios did you flash to fix the problem?
Looking more like you need the latest UCMC1 radio. Happened with a big kernel update in the nightlies, since this is getting closer to stable, I'm sure we'll see this problem more as more people start updating.

Yea, I flashed that one after I found it on a post about the radios. It fixed the problem to an extent. However I'm getting much weaker signal than usual (although this could be the bars not displaying properly maybe, I don't want to jump immediately to a conclusion) and also am getting the data bars greyed out which means it's not.
Do you recommend reflashing the radio again?

b2tracken,
Just wanted to say thanks for your post here and that I'm experiencing the same exact thing. Yesterday I upgraded my skyrocket from an old ICS install to the latest 4.2.2 with CM 10.1, coincidentally right when this RC1 came out, so I quickly upgraded from M3 to RC1 last night. This morning I noticed that something was up with the radio and read your post. I flashed the radio to UCMC1 like you probably did and now I'm getting a connection, but about half as strong (in bars) as before the whole upgrade. Really no complaints yet - it hasn't hindered phone calls or mobile data connection - but I would be interested to find out if there is anything I can do to improve it, or configure it properly. I'm a big noob when it comes to phones.
Thanks,
Chad

The only other thing that I have changed is going and changing the APN under mobile networks to ATT LTE from ATT Phone. I'm getting about half signal also and intermittent issues with it greying out. (They seem to have not been very prevalent.) Seems that I'm not the only one with the issue which is fortunate. Give that a shot. Hopefully it gets worked out in the next release.
Att ucmc1 apn
SO I've uploaded the original UCMC1 stock ATT APN, you can just create a new APN and set it like these images.
Also wondering, after you cleanup (format data, system, cache, dalvik cache), No reboots, you do the next in the following order:
1-flash UCMC1 Radio
2-flash CM10.1 ROM (I'm still on 04/23 and everything works: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2272261)
3-flash gapps from 20130301 (http://goo.im/gapps)
Good luck,
Don't forget to hit THANKS if I helped you
Having the same exact issue, I've done everything stated here, only thing i did differently was updated the radio after CM.
Well the problem came back randomly with RC2 to an extent.
Now everything is showed as greyed out and no connection available including wifi.
Anybody have a clue on this?

+1. UCMC1 should be used on all current CM10.1 builds. Any older radios will cause major problems with the newer JB-based blobs we use in CM10.1 past around 4/24.
One caveat: I don't know about Rogers users, sorry guys. If you have an official JB release from Samsung, you should use that radio. (Otherwise you will have to use UCMC1)

It seems no matter what I have issues. Now I'm having more issues with RRs and general crashes that force me to clear completely. I updated the radios but still had issues after. Almost thinking going back to square 1 and rerooting etc etc.

I'm aware. I'm already rooted, I just wanted to know if it's worth it to go back to stock then try to redo everything.
You said re-root. You don't need root to flash roms.
And probably not, cm is all busted right now anyways and data drops, reboots and all the other stuff is gonna happen regardless.

What nightly are you on? Anything after 4/23 (including the RC's) will have a lot of those instability issues. The developers are working hard to fix it if you want to read the development thread.
Recently my One S has started to reboot during calls if they last more than about 4 or 5 minutes.
I'm on CM11 09/05, but his has happened also on M4 and 08/05. Kernel is stock.
I thought at one point it might be down to a new sim card I'm using but the issue started before the original was replaced
I haven't managed so far to get a logcat but will try to reproduce and get one. In the meantime anyone have any ideas?
Try with another kernel like IceCode or Bubba. I had some reboots during calls also in the past but changing the kernel helped
Sent from nowhere over the air...
Perhaps a radio issue ?
Try some good custom kernel. Without a logcat nobody will know what is the reason anyway.

My mom's phone started doing this after I flashed the 1.35 radio so I flashed back to 1.20 and think it is fine now. That 1.35 radio is not meant for our phone I do not think it works properly.

Try to flash your old radio.
Ok back from my travels.
Radio has always been 1.20.
I've used both Ice Code and Bubba a few tomes before. No harm in trying them out again to see if they help.
My own hunch is that the phone overheats, causing a reboot. I've had overheating problems before. What causes the overheating issue I don't know.

Heating happens all the time when I use navigation / maps (but I guess it's normal) and also sometimes when charging if I have a custom kernel with "fastcharge" activated. Both Bubba and IceCode have "fastcharge" option so you could try deactivating it.
