hi everybody
i am coming from a sony smartwatch 3 under Android Wear. Beside notification, the app i was using the most was Google authenticator.
do you know if i can find a compatible app somewhere ?

+1
(spoke to the developers of Authenticator Plus - they said no plans for Gear s2 on their side)

I guess no one has any plans for S2

I written TOTP client for Gear S/S2.
This is compatible with One time password generator of Google/Microsoft/Facebook/Dropbox/Evernote.... etc.
I'm waiting certification by GalaxyApps.
The source has been published in open source .
https://github.com/tesurijp/TOTP-Tizen

Any easy way to install it from the source code?

You can also use wearable widgets with authy. Make sure you install the phone part from the play store and you can add authy's widget as an app on the gear. It does require the phone to be nearby though

This app has been released.
Search "one time password" in GalaxyApps.
Sorry , this app is a troublesome setting method.

I'm trying to push the file to the S2. I have the Tizen IDE installed. I can connect to the watch ok. I'm trying to move the file to /opt/usr/media/Documents/ and I get a permission denied error. I can move the file to /opt/usr/media/Downloads/
I've tried this through sdb and through the connection manager in the IDE. I get the same result.
The Documents directory has read/write for user, but not group and other. I don't have permission to chmod on Documents.
I am very new to this so I may be missing something very obvious. I've spent several hours on this and am stuck. Any ideas?
Alternatively is there a way to change the app to use downloads for the auth_keyinfo.txt file?
Thanks.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
I will update it.
I add palce of auth_keyinfo.txt
Main place
GEAR://documents ( Same as before)
And copy from the following place.
GEAR://downloads/auth_keyinfo.txt
GEAR://music/auth_keyinfo.mp3 ((Change only the file name, do not change contents)
"auth_keyinfo.mp3" is able push by GearManager.

I was able to do it by putting the auth_keyinfo.txt file on my phone, renaming it to "auth_keyinfo.mp3", and then transferring it via the Samsung Gear app (Samsung Gear > Settings > Send content to Gear > Select tracks). The Gear's music player sees it as an MP3 file which is mildly annoying, but I can live with that. Have you tried that method?
Also, can confirm the app works on my Galaxy Gear S3 Frontier

@tesuri do you have any plans for further development on this? I just got my Gear S3 (parents got it as a freebie when renewing their contract, didn't want to fiddle with it so they sent it to me), and this app turns it from "a neat toy" to a very practical tool. My work requires many, many authenticator codes, and when I forgot my phone once I had to promptly turn around and go back home -- two hours of my life wasted on the train for nothing If I'd had the watch and this app then, I could've simply turned to my wrist for the necessary codes.
I'd love to see the ability to embed "background images" for each authenticator. In the file, they could be base64-encoded... but I don't know how difficult it'd be for you to parse the embedded images out (figuring out file type, etc).

Yes, it is working great for me now.

It doesn't work on S2. I only get black screen. What can I do? Thanks.

same here S3 frontier
black screen
auth_keyinfo.mp3 copied inside music with gear app
i was able to make it work under my gear s3, with debug there was an error showing up, unable to find reference TITLE,
i modified source file index.html where there is <script src="language.js"></script> in <script src="language/en/language.js"></script>
rebuild and installed on my gear s3 with tizen studio, now it works for me

It's available since 2015 for almost all Gear models. The new version is integrated with an Android companion well for QR bar scanning/backup/restore purposes. Google Drive support makes sync up easy.

Rumored to be launched in IFA Berlin.
It's kind of like WhatsApp, but what I really like about ChatON is the fact that you can access it from the web.
I'll sure take a look, when it comes out!
Hopefully this is good sounds fantastic. We need more competitors rolling out messaging services to rival and or make a better product close as BBM.
sounds great.
When will this be available for download??
Wanna give this a try, hope it's good and catches on.

Market or Samsung Apps! Search 'ChatON' in Samsung Apps, or search for 'Samsung ChatON' in the Market, be sure to +1 it!
I was really looking forward to use this app but it seems its not compatible with landscape oriented phones. I have the Samsung Galaxy pro and it appears that its not compatible. I don't know how they didn't make it compatible with my phone being that it has a hardware keyboard and its mainly use for messaging. I hope they solve this because its not going to be my phone only but the two new galaxy pros.
Edit: I installed with the apk and apparently it works in landscape also. All that is left is that the verification code arrives in my phone.

Please note, the Zip is NOT flashable.

Bizarre. I downloaded the ZIP and installed on my device, but the market link says it is not compatible with my device model. Um, it's installed and running. Now, I still have not gotten the verification code via sms, but it is installed and running. Way to go Samsung.
Edit: It actually says it cannot be installed in my country (I'm in Canada), yet when I opened it, it knew I was in Canada and set the country code properly.)

I've removed it and installed from the market (so I can get proper updates) and yeah.... no verification code
I say give it time, probably too many requests
Yeah, that's what I figured. It most likely is not available in my country right now as well because they are trying to "roll" it out over a few countries so there isn't so many requests for codes. Us "geeks" jumping the gun

[MOD] GS3 SecEmail.apk & Exchange.apk with Exchange Security Disabled

DISCLAIMER: If your place of employment's exchange policy requires the use of a pin, please be advised that use of these apks may be punishable up to termination of employment, as well as other possible legal action. Some companies take their exchange security VERY seriously and this mod is only for those whose policy does not require a pin but are unnecessarily prompted to enter one anyway. Please speak with your IT department before using these files as I will not be held responsible for any mis-use of this app or any collateral damage that may ensue. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. In the event you need to get back to stock, I have also posted stock apks below which will get you back to stock. Download the 'Return to Stock' link, unzip the downloaded file, and then just push them to /system/app/
Below is the Mail and Exchange apks for the S3 with exchange security disabled. This is for those who use exchange support at work, but who hate entering a pin or password every time they want to unlock their phone. Many of us use low-level security corporate exchanges that don't require a pin, so the apk files below remove that security.
1) Delete any exchange email accounts from your phone and remove any shortcuts to the mail app from your device
2) If applicable, remove any exchange administrators from Settings -> Security -> Device administrators
3) Download the 'Hacked Mail apks' file linked below. THIS IS NOT A FLASHBLE ZIP. The apk files were just too big for XDA's upload limit and so I had to zip them up and host them online. Once downloaded, unzip and grab out the 2 apk files inside (SecEmail.apk and Exchange.apk)
4) Mount your phone's system as R/W (either using Root Explorer or 'adb remount')
5) Copy the newly downloaded SecEmail.apk and Exchange.apk files to system/app/ via root explorer and overwrite the older file if/when it asks, or you can just push the files to system/app via adb
6) Set permissions on both apks as rw-r--r--
7) Reboot
8) After reboot, create a shortcut if you want and then open up the Email app and set up your corporate account.
7) You will be prompted to enable security policy midway through... this is normal so hit 'OK' and it will not ask you to enable security any further.
As previously mentioned in the disclaimer, you can use the Stock apks to get back to stock if you run into any issues. Just download the 'Return to Stock' link below, extract the 2 apks out, and follow the same process as above.
Donations always appreciated. Enjoy
LINKS:
Hacked Mail apks: http://d-h.st/8xa
Return to Stock apks: http://d-h.st/aAk
Not working for me. Still requiring me to allow all the bull**** permissions.
Edit: Never mind. I completed the whole process, and even though it says I must enable all kinds of ****, it doesn't appear to enforce anything. Never been that far cause the permissions are ridiculous. Still though, with Touch my BAMF 1.04 rom on my Tbolt, it never asks for any security in the email app. Well hope I don't get fired, but I'm already sick of having to login through my web browser.
Thanks.
I don't even have an exchange mail app on the phone now. Also cannot add an exchange account in settings > accounts.
Thanks for putting these APKs together for us eschelon!
For those having trouble with these, you can use the tool located here to patch the stock email apps.
Not as easy if as just pushing these APKs if you dont have ADB installed, but if you do then it is a piece of cake. When it asks you for the name of the email app, just type SecEmail and it should patch and reboot. When you enter your info into the patched app, it may warn you about security, but it wont ever go into effect.

Tried to post about this last night. If you are trying to do this you might as well figure out how to do it this way. I have used this method for a long time now on multiple devices. It works the best because it patches the APK's you have and not pushing different ones. Once you get it working it's a piece of cake.
It will still popup and say something like "Your Exchange server requires security measures" and you just click OK or whatever and it doesn't actually implement them. I can confirm it works on the VZW GS3 stock email app.

Yes. What this does is change the code to show that you have security enabled when you don't.
I did this but when it booted it said "Android is Upgrading. Starting applications." I then went to use the app and it wanted to use the security.
Does it sound like I missed a step or is something special happening to me?

I get the the same as well. Followed the steps exactly and emailed the links to me from my dropbox to download to the device and used root explorer. Seems the files sizes are the same for both zips but that may mean nothing...
Do I need to try the other method... using the apk I still have to set a pin
For what it's worth, my Verizon phone came with an update sticker on it. Turns out it had a software update on it that has only recently has started to be pushed OTA. HERE is a blog post mentioning the update that I actually have. Nothing seems different to my wife's phone, which has the old software version.
Could it be a thing with Verizon? Are you also running VRLGL1 Parcou?
Is there a reason for the significant increase in the file sizes, between the original and hacked versions? Thanks in advance for the technical clarification.

It works for a short while for me, then I get an alert saying exchange security has to be updated and once I do that it stops syncing.

Use the method in post 4.
Everyone should use that method. It's much easier.
---------- Post added at 01:02 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:56 PM ----------
The patch in post 4 does the same thing everyone else is trying to do manually. If you what the steps you can see that it's pulling the apps. Modding them. Then pushing them back to your device.
I am on CM10 right now and it asked me to specify some of my APK names. Others may have to use Root Browser to see what their apk's are named if you have issues. Also if you run into this problem the names are case sensitive I think. If it shows like mine Exchange2.apk type it into the patch tool just like it looks.
I got an error when I did it on CM10 that Exchange services had stopped. However, I guess it worked itself out because I still get my work email and it's just as fast sometimes faster than getting it on my computer.

Had the same issue wanted it to show so all others can see. I found a way but not conventional. I created a new gCal account with a new email and called it by my job name. Then I shared that account with my current gCal account. Then on my work PC I downloaded the Google calendar sync app and logged in with the new work account. So now in my default account I just check the shared calendar for my job and it shows all my job appointments as well as all my other shared calendars.
Works for me

Car Mode for Galaxy (works with mirrorlink)

Do you guys have the latest car mode for galaxy with mirrorlink? I think its version 3 and its only available on note 5 thru Galaxy Apps store. I need the apk file. Thanks!
What you could do is download a rom and get it from there
Its not preloaded,it has to be downloaded from galaxy apps store.
I was going to install it & copy the apk to post here but it's got pretty bad reviews. Users reporting it screws up your home & back buttons even after uninstall. I could always just restore a nandroid if really needed but I don't feel like doing all that right now. You're not able to download it on your phone?
I can't. Im trying to port it thats why im looking for a copy. Thank you. I hope you can give it a try
Ok, here's what I got installing it. One is the app, the other is some remote installer? Carmodestub.apk has always been in my stock based rom prior to installing, not sure if it's required for Carmode to work but I'm including it anyway just in case.

At first, I also couldn't find Car Mode in GALAXY Apps (UAE) so I called Samsung support and they said they would look into the problem and make it compatible with my device. I thought it's just another generic response, but less than 24 hours Car Mode re-appeared in GALAXY Apps with a slightly updated version number. You can download the APK file from the attachments. This version (3.xxx) is actually great for driving, and much improved from the Galaxy S5 (v0.1xxx) or even S6 (v2.xxxx). It is feature-rich now. It can work with HERE Maps which are more reliable and work offline, and can get location information from your contacts and calendar events (amazing feature) so you can easily select a person or event instead of searching the map. It stores the recent destinations just like a normal car navigation, and can also be configured to ask you if you want to save the parking location when you exit the car mode.

It's most probably because of the different ROM. I live in the UAE, and use XSG (open/unlocked) ROM. If you use a carrier device, you'll always get different things here or there. I am not sure you can flash other Samsung ROM's if you use USA carrier devices (different model numbers from the international version SM-N920C). However, just like I mentioned in the beginning of my post, you can contact Samsung and ask them to make it available. They did this in my case (or maybe it was just a lucky coincidence).
You can also try a direct link to the app in GALAXY App store, like this
Code:
http://www.samsungapps.com/appquery/appDetail.as?appId=com.sec.android.automotive.drivelink&equipID=SM-N920C
(change SM-N920C to your model number)

Good. I think we should (cautiously) give Samsung credit for their responsive support.
Also, may I ask you to upload the APK? I may give it a try myself but mostly for other people who may search the forums for it.

How do I get to the original downloaded APK? I searched the phone and only found CarmodeStub (that comes preloaded) and CarModeRemote, both of which are only a few hundred kb is size, not the 15 MB claimed in the Galaxy app store. If getting the APK requires root, we are out of luck as I'm on Verizon.
I'm starting to see more reviews for the app in the Galaxy app store though. So hopefully people can actually get to it now.

You can use an app like ES File Explorer File Manager which you can use to back up any app. There are a lot of similar apps but this one provides better names for the backed up apks (App name+vesion).

OK, you didn't find it because the apk name doesn't include the word "car", it's com.sec.android.automotive.drivelink
That's one reason why ES Explorer is much better. It is not simply a file browser or manager. The APP function is ES is a complete App management solution.

Hey everybody,
I recently updated to lollipop. I am on the mt7-L09 running version b324. I must say I really love everything about it. I have successfully rooted it and I am running twrp 2.8.7.0 recovery and everything is running great. The only issue is that I would love to have all apps work with the new split screen feature the way you can on a samsung device. Did anyone know of a way to get all apps working with split screen? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
I have almost got it figured out. I just need to know how to get an apps component name. I used sqlite editor data/data/com.huawei.hwmwlauncher then to hwmultilauncher.db then to hw_mwlauncher. And the list of all the allowed apps are there. With component name and package name. I am trying to add youtube and I know the package name is com.google.android.youtube I just cant get the component name. Any help on this and I can figure out the rest and post a tutorial on it.

Check out http://developer.android.com/reference/android/content/ComponentName.html. Can you post the existing ComponentNames?

Thank you, and yes I sure can post the existing ones. I spent all night decompiling apk's and have gotten youtube and tumblr to work with multiwindow. I have found that the component names are located in each apk's androidmanifest.xml file. The problem is that they are not all the same, and they are all in diferent spots within the manifest.
This is youtube component name com.google.android.youtube/com.google.android.youtube.app.honeycomb.Shell$HomeActivity
You notice the first part before the / is the package name of the app. After / is the package name and the activity the app is supposed to launch with. The problem I think is that not all dev's write the same way. For instance this is the Gallery app's component name com.android.gallery3d/com.huawei.gallery.app.GalleryMain
I have been able to run split screen for all apps on Mediapad X2. Maybe it can help mate 7 too(though not sure how different these devices are)

I have been able to get most apps to work. I get the component names by running logcat through adb. When I open the app the component name shows up in the log. The problem I am having now is finding the permisions and editing them so they all fully work in multiwindow
Does anyone know what file the whitelist app list is in? Some Blacklist apps are in a file called "karaokeeffect"

Root access

I know it seems rather trivial, but is there someone working on root access for the gear s2? I'd love custom ringtones like on my gear s.
It can be done without rooting your device. Unfortunately, I don't have a 3g S2 to test it :-/
if you have a method, I'd be more than willing to test and get back to you . Tired of the boring stock tones lol
Actually I'm working on one, and it's very close to release
I can help test with a 3G version as well.

Thanks! Currently, I'm having troubles with installing the file on a tester watch other than my own. The steps are rather complicated and difficult due to Samsung's strict policy about distributing apps outside the store. Once the problem is solved, I will let you know. :fingers-crossed:
Thanks! I have sdb setup on my computer at home, and the ability to install sideloaded wgt files if that helps

The problem now is that even if I signed the wgt file with the tester's watch id, it still refuses to install. I'm trying to solve it before I invite more people to test
I also have a 3G version, will be willing to test out. Really sounds dumb, but i want to have custom ringtones, i bought the Filemaster app for $3, it shows you root access. but will not let you transfer to that folder.
Unless someone has a way to do that.
Let me know if you need any testing.
Ok guys any news on rooting this baby?

With root access, is one able to modify system settings like on Android phones (like buildprop tweaks)?
I'm specifically looking for ways to fix the buggy always-on mode still turning off the display & to change the screen timeout.
But if one modifies the watch, will OTA updates still work?
And is there an Odin-like program for the Gear S2?

Sorry but I'm not familiar with this topic. I haven't messed with the Tizen system before. However, I'm sure that the Odin-like app for the S2 doesn't exist
The custom ringtone app is now available for 3g users. Let me know what you think about it

Do we just download from the app store?

Damn, just found this thread and read through it. Haven't looked at Tizen development yet, but am well-experienced developing for Android.
@tipztv, what you mention about deployment is very troubling! How does this issue affect private app development and deployment on one's own watch? I have all kinds of little apps I've developed over the years just for myself to plug functionality holes or just make something easier to do on the phone. Of course, with Android, it's trivial to do this. How about on Tizen?
No news about the root ?
Was root never achieved?
