Help TWRP backup restore failes - General Questions and Answers

Hi,
I want to restore a backup I made with TWRP (3.0.2-0 Released), but it fails with the error "mounted read only".
The backup is on the external SD card and I set the related ticks in the "Mount" section.
Some details:
I'm using a Samsung S5
System is rooted and SuperSU is installed
Currently, Cyanogenmod 13 is installed, but I want to switch back o 12.1
I do not have enough internal storage to move the backup
I've attached a picture of the error message and the error log.
Any help is appreciated!
Error:

Error log:

OK, after I unticked Modem and EFS(?) of the sections I want to restore, it worked.

[Q] urgent funbook pro touch not working in cusom rom

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2104473
regarding this thread
when in step 8 I choose restore it just says "couldn't open directory." and "No files found."
but it detected it in advanced restore from internal sdcard (emmc/clockwordmod/backup)
so i restored every single thing in advanced restore and rebooted....touch still not working
and where do we extract the recovery.img
it says (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2088876&highlight=cwm+on+funbook+pro)
Extract the file to the root of your "internal sd card"....but when i flash it by doing the same and restarts it into recovery mode then it doesnt show the option for backup and restore and upon restarting it again recovery.img is gone from root of sd card so are the changes in properties that i made in data, dev, block folders and nandg file
i also flashed the sun4i_crane_M1005_P500.20120727.rar file ..it restored my tab to original position and touch was working but when i installed custom rom on it and it rebooted, it just got stuck on the logo
please help....frustrated

[Q] omni 4.4 help stingray

I am not new to ROM's I have dabbled here and there with my phones and the xoom. I followed the directions to a t for the Omni 4.4.2. I did the first part for putting bigPart TWRP on my xoom. I have the recovery on there and I can find my SD card with the rom and other files on there needed but it will not load after I install everything. The internal storage still shows at 0. I get the Omni bootloader and then a message from google pops up saying encryption unsuccessful and I need to perform a factory reset. When I try that it just brings me back to recovery. I don't know what I did wrong but the only thing that works is recovery. It's like nothing at all is on the internal storage of the xoom. I have tried to copy the files from my sd card over to internal and install, same thing. When I go back to check the files I copied to internal they are gone. The files I have on the sd card are there but it won't load the files on the internal storage to set up android on there. I can't even go back to an old restore cause I was using cwm recovery and the those restore files aren't recognized. I'm at a loss, any help would be greatly appreciated. I can't even get my computer to see so I can push the files over to it and I am pretty rusty with ADB to try and set that up.
I just tried to push the original twrp 2630 through adb and it flashed, I tried to reboot into recovery and it just staid at the twrp screen. Ughhh I'm getting so frustrated cause I had the xoom working perfectly on JB before I started messing around. Any help would be great, Even getting me back to stock and I can take it from there.

Backup failed: Error 255

Hey,
whenever I want to do a Backup via TWRP (latest version and I´ve tried 2.8.7 or so as well) it fails and I get
Code:
[COLOR="Red"]createTarFork() process ended with ERROR: 255[/COLOR]
Backup Failed
(Oppo R7 Plus F on ColorOS 2)
I attached the log file. I can´t read anything out of this myself though SoI´m hoping for some help here
I need to do the backup on my SD card (tried two different ones already) bcs my internal storage is too small.

failed to create backup folder while backing up to external sd card

I have Lenovo a6000 and got flashed TWRP RECOVERY 2.8.6.0. I need to back up my stock ROM. When I go to TWRP>backup>select, system, data, boot> checking md5 and swiping. But result failed. It shows *cannot create backup folder* and *failed to make backup folder*. Don't know what to do further. Need help.
And today I flashed 3.0.2-0 of TWRP. Same error. Cannot unmount sdcard, and shows something * device busy* like this.
Hi !
First , try to chose the backup location on the internal storage
Second , be sure that the removable sdcard it is supported by the rom and it is recognised in settings/storage
The problem may be with the recovery itself or with the sdcard , head over the recovery thread you have downloaded for more info or use a newer version https://forum.xda-developers.com/le...ecovery-twrp-3-0-2-lenovo-a6000-plus-t3543596
Good luck !

"Cannot restore System -- mounted read only." even if my storage is read-write

"Cannot restore System -- mounted read only." even if my storage is read-write
I am trying to restore from a previous backup that I made with TWRP recovery, but every time i do it, it fails saying:
"Cannot restore System -- mounted read only"
I have tried multiple storage devices, and even tried internal storage for a while until eventually that started to yield the same error. I decided to use a pendrive connected to an OTG cable, which I verified was not read only through Command Prompt, and my phone would still refuse to restore from backup, reporting the same problem as previously mentioned.
As to why I had to restore from a previous backup in the first place, I was trying to install ResurrectionRemix for my phone and one of the instructions mentioned to perform a full wipe. I took this the wrong way and wiped EVERYTHING in my phone, which includes data, internal storage, and system (although the next step is to wipe system so that doesn't really matter.) I proceeded with the other instructions and I realized shortly that something didn't really work out, so I decided to restore from a backup I made previously, which brings us to this point in time.
I should add that I was able to flash the custom ROM through the very same SD that I tried to use for recovering from the backup that I created.
My phone is a Samsung J5(SM-J500F) which had the latest Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 prior to wiping everything in my phone.
Thank you for taking the time to help me with my problem!
PS: I am using TWRP 3.0.2-0 recovery, which is not the latest build.
